Rufus yes I could afford to have one, I am umming and aaahing over it. I haven't had any signs anything is wrong but you're right it may just put my mind at rest. I'm going to look into where my nearest private clinic is.

ponty I am so glad I am not the only one! I totally think you are right that mumsnet is a concentrated source and realistically if I search mmc it is obviously going to bring up all the stories of people who have had them not a bunch of women saying "oh not me I never had one". Why do we torture ourselves?!

banana I totally agree with the packaged food which is why I haven't got on with many apps as I try to prep all my food from scratch where possible. It became too time consuming but the advantage is it will give you the calorie count which a spreadsheet doesn't obviously.

Ginfizz I have my fingers crossed for you! Sounds promising!

xx

Ginfizz90 · 27/08/2015 08:44

Hi everyone! Hope you are all well.
How are all the SI ladies getting on?

I apparently oved on cd20 but I don't temp do not 100% sure. Definitely had a lot of cramping and ewcm around this times I fingers crossed.????

bananafish81 · 26/08/2015 21:27

dollface I am LOVING your spreadsheet - I'm a total OCD-esque organisational freak and love a good spreadsheet

I've been doing something similar ish with MyFitnessPal to help me try and get to my IVF prep target of no more than 40% of calories from carbohydrates, 40-60g of protein and two servings of full fat dairy a day. Whilst trying to put the pounds I lost back on!

My inner geek likes the app but I find I want to eat more packaged foods as then it's easier to enter the nutritional content, which is somewhat against the spirit of the whole thing!!

PontyGirl · 26/08/2015 19:32

wrt the five scans I paid for, they were either every week or every other week between 5 and 12 weeks Blush Hmm anxious isn't the word

PontyGirl · 26/08/2015 19:30

dollface I was basically exactly the same as you when I was pregnant and may or may not have paid for FIVE private scans but all was well. I know I'm just a randomer on the internet, but as much as MN is great, it's also a concentrated source of a lot of sad stuff - I read so many threads about mmc when i was pregnant but i only know one person IRL who has had one. I really hope the 12 week scan reassures you Thanks

Rufus200 · 26/08/2015 18:29

dollface I'm having all my treatment privately so all my appointments are with my consultant, I don't have a midwife involved at all. If you are worried, can you afford to have a private viability scan? Once a heart beat has been seen MC risk decreases to 2% even from only 6 weeks!

Dollface136 · 26/08/2015 11:14

Oh bugger Rufus that does not sound fun for you at all!!
How is it all going aside from that? Did you have to see a consultant because you are preggers with PCOS?

I am veering between wild delirious happiness at having conceived and total crippling anxiety that there won't be anything there at the 12 week scan despite having poas no less than twice a week!

I don't think it helps at all that every person/medic I speak to says "well miscarriage is very real and well it might happen so be prepared". Yeah thanks a lot, I know that! Can you not see the chewed off nails and dark circles under my eyes from worry?!

Rufus200 · 26/08/2015 10:18

dollface I had heard that preganacy suppresses/reverses PCOS. Hate to tell you but mine is in full rage. My face, shoulders and chest are covered in large spots, plus eczema all over my face. I have dark new hair sprouting everywhere!!! I have gained 10kgs at 16 weeks! Other people in the antenatal group are like oh I've only gained 5lbs, I want to tell them where to stick their 5lb weight gain!

Dollface136 · 26/08/2015 09:44

Thanks banana and ponty, I'm sure the consultant lead care is just a precaution, MW seemed to think she may say I don't need any further consultant appts after one at 16 weeks but we shall see. I do hope the prego hormones help my PCOS as I have heard much like the pill it can suppress sypmtoms.

Fingers crossed your SI do the job this month pebbles!

Just thought I would mention as well for anyone trying to reduce BMI/follow a PCOS friendly diet that I am keeping a food diary throughout my pregnancy and so far it has made such a difference so maybe it might help you too? I basically set up a google doc and log what I eat and drink (excluding water/squash) each day. If like me you are a little (a lot) competitive I find it like a challenge to only log good stuff each day and it has made me really aware of making sure I eat lots of good snacks and balanced meals rather than ignoring what I am eating and then thinking "oh bugger did I really eat a whole bag of pasta in one day?!". Of course there are some naughty things on there but it does stop be being naughty every single day haha. Anyway, just a thought for anyone who loves a spreadsheet and wants to give it a go for a month. xx

Pebbles086 · 25/08/2015 21:16

Thank you dollface that's really helpful! Felt weird not being able to check up on you ladies whilst MN was down!!! We really do need eachother to vent to! Glad your getting lots of hep through your pregnancy. It must be a great feeling going to midwife appts. I hope your pregnancy goes really well, please keep us updated.
And rosebud that is bloody great news, how amazing. Just shows how powerful clomid is!! I am crossing everything for your scan on Friday and I hope you catch this egg. I go away on Friday and I am sure I am going to come back to great news xxxx
Hello green if you've read our stories you will see that TTc is a long and frustrating road. It can take months to even get an appt. With a fertilty Dr. And you have to be actively trying for at least 1 year. So If you think you may struggle to get pregnant you may want to start trying earlier if your ready for babies pretty soon. It can be very frustrating waiting for appt., Referrals, scans, blood tests etc etc. your partner will aso need tests. Patience and persistence is key in this TTC bullshit. Yeah it's bullshit TTC with PCOS. Good luck, this thread is full of amazing woman who aren't giving up and some BFPs that keep us all going xx

GreenGoth89 · 25/08/2015 20:20

Not actively trying to conceive - in fact I still have the coil in and will do for the next year or so, but I've got one PCO and possibly endometriosis (got a laperoscopy booked for early October) and I'm really worried that the likelihood of me being able to conceive is very low and I don't know what my options are because I really don't want IVF.

bananafish81 · 25/08/2015 19:51

Yay rosebud - that's awesome news! High fives and air punches up the wazoo. That sounds really really promising - keeping all fingers and toes crossed

dollface glad you're getting such excellent care - being 'high risk' to warrant consultant led care is a pretty broad term, and just means you'll have fantastic antenatal care Smile My gynae said any increased risk tends to be found more in obese pcos patients as insulin issues can mean a slightly increased risk of gestational diabetes, but it's pretty marginal. He said there was a school of thought that thought elevated LH levels might be one factor, but that in the bigger picture of 'high risk', pcos is v small beans.

So with you on the five iron!! You have such a brilliant way with words, your post really made me laugh Grin

Vixxfacee · 25/08/2015 18:58

Ah rose that sounds so promising! Fingers crossed for you.

PontyGirl · 25/08/2015 18:27

rosebud sounds so promising, mega fx going on for you!!

dollface that's strange wrt to your pregnancy and PCOS - when I was preg with DD PCOS was not an issue for anyone at all! I brought it up at booking in and she was just like, "yeah, we see it a lot, no biggy" and even though I was under consultant care for a completely different issue, it was never referred to! Let me know what comes of that, I'm genuinely interested

Freddiesmother · 25/08/2015 17:27

That's great rosebud nice one! I too have been a bit panicky with no mumsnet. Made me realise how much I value this thread. It's funny I feel more supported by you ladies than by anyone in the real world. It's a hard thing to relate to I think. Anyway fx for you rosebud.

Dollface136 · 25/08/2015 15:08

Rosebud that is awesome news yay!!!! You must be so pleased. Fx for estrogen doing its job.

I too was having a mild panic at not being able to get on mumsnet. Why don't these cyber hackers knob off. We are just discussing our cm for crying out loud, there is nothing here for them!

I just had my midwife booking in appointment. It was quite reassuring actually apart from needing to have a consultant because PCOS is not seen as a straight forward pregnancy. Fingers crossed it all goes smoothly from there though! Damn PCOS it blights us every step of the way!

My plan is to pop out as many babies as my wretched body allows and then have my polycyctic ovaries removed so I can smash them down a golf course with a five iron! haha.

RoseBud2015 · 25/08/2015 12:08

Yay!!! Finally I've managed to log in! Has anyone else been getting cold-sweats in panic when MN wasn't working?! Or is it just me?! lol Grin

Thanks so much for all of your lovely messages. It's so good to have you lot to talk to about this. I am so grateful Flowers x

Sooooo I had my CD13 follicle tracking scan today and I have one dominant 12mm follicle!!!! I have NEVER had one of these before (never had anything above 6mm follicles before!). The sonographer said my lining stills looks very thin (2.9mm) but she's hoping that over the next few days the follicle will continue to grow and the estrogen will thicken up my lining.

I have to go back for another scan on Friday to see if has continued to grow- I am trying not to get my hopes up but it's kinda hard Smile.

Dollface136 · 24/08/2015 12:49

Hi Pebbles, I ovulated on CD25 after taking SI which was 2 days earlier than on my previous cycle without SI and it was the cycle I got my BFP. I think from what I have read it works in bringing your OV date forward but wont make a huge jump ie you won't go from OV cs 30 to OV cd18 or anything as dramatic as that. Hope that helps!

Pebbles086 · 24/08/2015 12:04

Hello Ladies, I have been taking a head down and concentrate on yourself approach this last couple of weeks. However I have read back and felt I need to send some love, seems like it's been really tough for a few of you lovely ladies.
Chand really upsetting to read what you have had to go through. I honestly don't know if I would have the strength to go through that. You and DH deserve a BFP next cycle, don't give it. You know you can get pregnant and next time it will be a better outcome. I hope your feeling much better after being in hospital xxxxxx
Rose FX the Clomid worked before your awful reaction. You done the right thing in not ignoring the side effects. I also like the sound of that clinic, glad you have a plan if Clomid isn't for you. So many people have amazing outcome from IVF and I am coming round to the idea now. XXXX
Banana Where do you get your strength from? It's so good to see that you have found some alternative approaches if your results aren't what you need. I am sure things will settle down, the Pill can mess our bodies up fr months. You really deserve a break from any health issues and your DH sounds amazing. He's totally right, you can tell he puts your health first, so sweet. I love how much info you have ready for your GP, I am positive you'll get some good news from your appt. I'll honestly be thinking of you xxxx
All you other lovely ladies I hope everything is going as well as can be!! I have been wondering where I would turn without this thread? It saves me from going insane at time.
Last night I finished my SI. I done cd3-7 80, 120, 160, 160 and 200. I took it at night so no side effects. I am now going to test for O. I havent told DH I took them so he's in for a surprise when we go away in a few days, will be DTD a lot!! I figure with my tube issue it prob won't work even if I do OV, but I will try! I have my Cons appt in a few weeks following my Lap and Dye, last time I seen him he said IVF would be an opinion. Hopefully he will get the ball rolling ASAP. I am just grateful I sort of have a plan, as long as I have no other health issues to deal with. DH SAcame back all normal, one thing to smile about!
Can any one remember what day they O'd after trying SI?
Lots of love xxxxx

Freddiesmother · 24/08/2015 07:21

Banana so complicated sounds like you are doing a great job of getting your head around everything and researching things that might help. Fingers crossed for your results. I had no idea that private rounds of ivf counted towards your Nhs entitlement that seems really really unfair.

Ginfizz90 · 23/08/2015 23:16

Wishing you all the luck banana, I have a feeling that your results may be different this time. The pill effects our bodies in such weird ways and you've been taking double dose so I'm sure that would have impacted the results in such a way.
Its good to be realistic and make plans it sounds like you have a gd support in your partner which is fantastic. As soon as you get the next results in you will have a better idea of what the next step is. I hope your results are what you need!

bananafish81 · 23/08/2015 22:47

oranges that must be so frustrating! What’s happening for things to have stalled? Can you ask to see another GP / get referred to a different consultant if they’re not willing or able to help you? Keeping fx they pull their bloody finger out!

oranges & gin thank you so so much: The support from you ladies is immense. I’m sorry to be hogging the group with my decrepit ovaries! It means so much to have somewhere to be able to talk about this stuff.

Re: the bloods and what the fuck we do now. I'm crapping myself, basically.

Consultant said it was possible there may have been a lingering effect of the pill, and wanted to re-do them. Because I was on a double dose (because of the interaction with my epilepsy meds) any effect would be magnified. Although as the pill suppresses FSH I would expect it to be lower coming off the pill, so terrified it may have gone up!! Although there’s some evidence AMH is suppressed by the pill even in the months after coming off, so maybe that might rise a little from ‘terrible’ to ‘slightly-less terrible’.

The FSH is so high and the AMH so low because my ovarian reserves have shrunk so much. In 2010 the scan showed 42 follicles (i.e. very much polycystic). My last scan showed 5!! Unfortunately I can’t produce more eggs to replace the ones I’ve ‘burned through’. The glimmer of hope I have is that a clinic in NYC which specialises in treating ‘burning out PCOS’ patients with premature ovarian ageing, say they’ve seen ‘menopausal FSH levels’ reversed when patients have started androgen supplementation.

( - 5 min 26)

My testosterone was almost undetectable in my most recent bloods, so I’m clinging on to the hope that the DHEA I’ve already started taking may help reverse my menopausal levels of FSH. Will discuss with him whether testosterone patches or gel are a reasonable option to try, to see if they’ll make a difference. Which I’m desperately hoping they might!!

At the moment, our only option is to self-fund - so the new bathroom and the honeymoon are both off, and all our cash is going to project baby. Any cycles we pay for count towards our allocation of NHS-funded cycles, though I’m not sure if it’s possible to ‘hide’ cycles with clinics abroad. Because I’ve got quite a complicated medical situation already, my GP is the key link in the chain between the neurologist, pain doc and now the gynae (even seeing him privately everything still goes to the GP so it’s all on my records). If things were different, I would definitely go abroad as treatment is SO much cheaper and there are some brilliant clinics - like Reprofit, where Rosebud has been looking at, and Serum in Athens. But as DH rightly points out - and he’s the one who has had to call the ambulance when I was collapsed unconscious and turning blue while having an epileptic seizure (I of course have no memory, so fits are much more traumatic for him than they are for me) - if we leave the UK, then joined-up care becomes very tricky.

It ain’t the end of the road yet, it’s just that the journey is a fuck of a lot more expensive.

IF the DHEA can get my FSH down, that might bring me within the threshold of NHS funding criteria. We’d have to wait 3 years though, and my reserves are so depleted that the way things are looking, it’s now or never basically.

I’m def gonna push to at least try androgen supplementation: no reason at this stage to think he’ll refuse, just have to see what he says on the 3rd…

Ginfizz90 · 23/08/2015 21:42

Banana I really feel for you! Is there anyway you can improve your levels over a month or two so that the clinics would accept you? Surely the consultants can advise you further and piece together a combo that will. So many things can be done these days I'm sure of it. This is not the end for you I promise, it's simply not an option.

Orangesarenot · 23/08/2015 21:17

Ladies I'm so sorry to read about what you've been going through.

Chandelier and Rosebud I'm in awe of how strong you both are.

Banana I'm so sorry, to have to deal with this on top of your other health stuff is spectacularly rubbish. What were your original blood test results? What are you hoping for from your next results?

Everyone else, I'm glad things are moving along - fx for everyone with an imminent appointment.

Let's hope there's another bfp soon. Maybe Stealth when she gets back?

I don't even know if I'm a PCOSer anymore, I'm getting messed around by my Consultant/GP who seem to be kicking me between them like a football. But I've continued lurking and just wanted to send some Flowers to everyone, because we bloody deserve them.

bananafish81 · 23/08/2015 20:34

Ponty yep, bollocks is exactly the word! FUCK PCOS! I'm seeing the consultant on 3rd Sept. Terrified about getting results of tomorrow’s bloods in case my FSH has gone from ridiculous to stratospheric. I don’t know what kind of effect Clomid might have had - it’s designed to get the body to pump out more FSH so I don’t know if it’ll have any hangover effect, and have sent my FSH through the roof.

I don’t know if he’s redoing AMH and tbh I sort of don’t want to know that either. As things stand, my levels are so dire, I wouldn’t be eligible for NHS funding - and quite a few private clinics wouldn’t even accept me, as I’d likely bugger their stats. I think if it's got even worse I would lose any shred of hope, so would rather bury my head in the sand...

To rub it in, my local trust is actually one of the best in London for IVF - they give a whopping 2 fresh cycles - plus all viable frozen transfers. They also don’t have any restrictions on either partner having children from a previous relationship - not applicable in my case, but always struck me as one of the most unfair parts of many trusts’ funding criteria. But even if we had been trying the requisite 3 years, my FSH is too high and AMH too low to be accepted. And in 3 years time my levels can only get worse - I might well have dried up altogether! So there’s no chance of ever getting NHS funding for IVF unless my ovaries suddenly find a time machine Sad
