Getting waaaaay ahead of myself here I know! BUT...........

Just wondered if anyone else is like me and DH and have been thinking about baby names?? We can't agree on girls, but boys we find easy... we could have a bunch of boys and agree on every name!!

I know I shouldn't be thinking of names when I am not even pg, but I can't help myself!!Anyone got any cool name ideas?? Promise I won't steal any of them I'd love to hear what other people are thinking... or am I the only one mental enough to think this far ahead??

Haven;t read all the other posts yet but we were the opposite had loads of girls names and 1 boys name!
Had a DD so many disagreemants finally decided on Evie Maegan?
Our boys name was Euan?
Loads of books and stuff for ideas tho!
I love thinking of nice names think its perfectly natural to do so aswell pg or not!

PMSL at Diesel, Suede, Denim and Velvet... cue John McEnroe "You cannot be serious?" I hope that the mothers of those children are not MNers or I am in for it!! eek.

Michelle can be shortened to Mimi. I know what you mean about the high powered job and the cute as a button name! Would they be taken seriously?

Nothingbutattitude i like the name Victoria but its mine and feel a bit naff calling my daughter after me, in manor of 'Victoria Junior'. How weird, guys do it alot though dont they.

Lovely names Skytv and Helen, i like traditional names too and am not keen on very popular ones. I had 3 friends who all had an Ella 2 years ago and one has just had an Ella Nicole at the weekend. 2 of them had Grace as a middle name too, bizzare! My dd has 3 Jessicas and 3 Laurens in her class, what a nightmare for the teacher.

I have been put of names chosen by mums ive delivered/looked after too Helen. One lady called her adorable baby girl Diesel and i had another who clearly had a thing for fabric, she had a suede, denim and velvet

I like Amelie, Dulcie, Florence and Mimi for a girl. I love Jemimah (mimi) but Dh doesnt like it so am on the look out for another name to shorten to mimi, i love it but cant quite see a high powered doctor or lawyer etc being called mimi! Obviously she can be what she wants but i dont want to limit her with a cutsie name, likewise i love Dorothy (Dottie, Dora)but again Dh says no....

SOme really nice names coming up now.

Would love a name that reflected how hard i had tried for the little one like hope or something.

never used to be into the meanings of names but now i have been trying a while i am, weird how you change. x

I quite like Bailey actually... which is funny cos it is one of those names that I would normally just dismiss without a thought.

A friend of mine used to say when we were kids that she would call her daughter Mercedes... she hasn't had any children yet, so I am still waiting

Skytvaddict - good luck with the battle (I know I will have one myself)... I am not convinced about Seth, but then I used to watch Emmerdale when I was younger . Love Aidan and Finn. I love Grace!!! What a classic name!!

and if we have a girl at some point my fave names are Isobelle or Annabelle (although that horrible doll is called Annabelle so Isobelle would probably win) also like Victoria.

we chose owen for ds2 before we found out what we was having, then wehen we actually found out that we was having a boy we both went off the name. Then we settled on ryan or kieran and said we would decide after he was here. After planned c section dh went to phone everyone (still with no name) came back to find that i had called Ds2 "haydan" which he immediatley fell in love with. Tho ds1 wanted to call his brother rhenaus from thomas the tank engine, so glad we didnt give in on that one. Would love to have a little girl called louisa rose after my nan.

my four older ones are Luke, Hannah Abigail, Samuel Edward, and Tiffany Alice
I like traditional names and also I used to get put off names by not so nice patients using them

One mum named her boy Toffee wolf the popular name recently has been Bailey for a boy or girl......

I am 16 weeks pg and we have just started talking about names.

I have a Libby Elise (age 10) and Freya Hope (age 6). DP doesn't have any los yet and does not approve of hardly any names on my list! I'm with you ready4motherhood on not having a name in the top 10 but he likes Thomas for a boy and hasn't dared venture a girls name yet.

I did like Evie Grace but there have been loads of them in the paper recently so have now changed to Isabella Grace, Gabriella Rose, Millie Grace or Finn, Aidan, Nathaniel, Seth none of which he apparently likes. I can see trouble ahead Ex H just agreed with my choices without too much trouble.

Oooooh Natty, great minds... Ryan is our first choice for a boy!! Liam is on our list too (I am half Irish so there are a lot of Celtic names on our list). I think Phoenix is a gorgeous name, but I just know that DH would veto it, far too exotic for his liking! But if you have a surname that could handle it (i.e not Smith, or Jones or Brown etc) you should go for it. It could be shortened to Nix???

I adore Sophie... our friends little girl is Sophie (7)... wonder what the etiquette is for using that??? Anyone know??
Lilly is beautiful. I love Isabelle too, although I would spell it Isobel.

My favourite girls names at the moment are Scarlett, Amber and Sienna but DH dislikes all of them. He likes Chloe, but it's in the top 5 every year isn't it?? I don't want something that is overly popular.
Boys names, like I said, we agree on all of them, which is great!! But if we ever get pg, you just know we will have a girl (which we would be thrilled with by the way) and she will remain nameless for weeks, the poor love. Throw some girls names at me please... we need some more to put on the table

Like I said... I know I am getting waaay ahead of myself, but there's no harm in that? right??

Ooooh Raphael love that alot, the dts would be thrilled to as there is Teenage Mutant Nija Turtle called it to. Will add that to my list.

Not offeded at all ready4motherhood, i dont like Brutus think it sounds like a dog name, he likes Caesar too (see a pattern here!) But Dh pointed out i like Felix and that is a cat name and Oscar, so had to let it in, not convinced though.

largeginandtonic - we've an angel too in Michael - he's the highest of the archangels, and then there's Raphael as well as Gabriel.

I read a thread with Atticus the other day. It's a very strong sounding name. I wouldn't choose it myself mind.

Brutus?? Very different. Conjures an image of a bit of a hardnut (iyswim??)

I'm not meaning to be rude, sorry if you think I am. I don't want to diss anyone's choice of names. I hate it when people do that!!!

It is after the highest order of the angels, the ones who just kind of screech at god, quite apt really if youve heard her

I always liked Gabriel too but cant really have it as he would get teased in this house (Gabriel is the lowest of the angels!)

No more biblical names though, think ive done enough. Any suggestions gratefuly recieved though, read one on here the other day, Atticus. Like that alot, Dh like Brutus....

largeginandtonic - Seraphim!! How unusual, yet pretty. I think it means Angel, but I might be wrong! Some very biblical names there! Do you think you will go with something biblical with #6??
