I realised today there are some things only people who are now or who have TTC will get. Mine is:

The sheer and utter fucking soul sucking "joy" of buying pregnancy tests and tampons in the same weekly shop.

please feel free to add yours..

When you SIL gets pg before you (and easily) so your mutual in laws don't give a shit about your pregnancy (or child) as they are effectively old news. Just me then.....

Maybe the answer to the relax advice is something along the lines of: "Yeah I tried that. I sent DH/DP/whoever off to the football while I fucked off to the spa but still no luck. I thought maybe plenty of shagging was a better way to go." Grin

honeysucklejasmine · 02/06/2015 14:37

MIL? Jeeeeez, does it ever end?!

Sojii · 02/06/2015 14:35

.....Oh and .....I have a SIL ("wasn't even trying") and now one pregnant Mother in law too.

honeysucklejasmine · 02/06/2015 14:29

I get the rage when people who have not struggled in the slightest talk about "just relax!" or "It's not such a long time though, 2 years, is it?" and other such comments. One even said that it wasn't a human right to have children, so you can't really be too heartbroken if it doesn't happen for you. I think her heart was in the right place, but it didn't come across well.

I know someone who waited just shy of a year for DC2. They tell me they know how I feel etc, but come on... DC2? It's not really the same, is it?

Sojii · 02/06/2015 14:24

These messages made me smile and wince at the same time.
I made the mistake of getting over excited and telling everyone I was trying and now having gained a couple of stone (1 year and 1 miscarriage later) am constantly having people look at my belly, raise their eyebrows and ask if there is any news. Even the guy that came to fit the washing machine asked when i'm due!

susurration · 02/06/2015 13:05

Yes, four months. I was a bit upset with her to be honest, but she's just one of those people who is unfortunately oblivious to everyone else around her. I don't think it would have made any difference having a go. She announced it at 5 weeks. She later complained about not being able to drink cocktails on holiday when she was 8 weeks gone.

joey38 · 02/06/2015 13:03

Ha - I love this thread! Never mind the SILs, my (younger) sister got pregnant with her first on just one attempt and then complained that it had happened too quickly. Then, when they decided to go for #2, and she wasn't pregnant by the third month, she went to the f***g doctors about it!!!! Seriously -urgh. Wait until you've been trying for 2 years and then you can start to worry!!!

Also, how about squinting at the toilet roll every time you pee in the days leading upto AF. Can you see any colour on it? Is that a bit of pink? Is it the start of af or possible implantation?? Knowing that you can never ever buy coloured toilet paper as that would just completely do your head in!!!

honeysucklejasmine · 02/06/2015 13:00

Four?! Four?!!!!

I would have let rip tbh!

susurration · 02/06/2015 12:50

For me its not so much the accidentals as the girl I know who is neurotic and won't fucking leave it alone. She actually said to me:

"I was getting so worried about not conceiving. It took us four goes. I was honestly thinking about going for IVF."

I nearly smacked her in the face tbh.

diamondsparkles · 02/06/2015 09:16

clmustard - I do that too! Every single month when I get my usual pre af spotting I spend hours googling implantation bleeding then af shows up properly and I still wonder what if it's just heavy ib? Every single month - it's like I'm crazy.
Another one... When people say 'I've got some news' to you and your heart drops thinking 'please don't be another baby announcement ' - then when it is plastering that smile on your face til you can escape and cry

clmustard · 02/06/2015 09:10

af is showing up. I KNOW it is af. Why do I keep trying to convince myself it is actually an implantation bleed?

Ah we all know ladies that this lack of conception, this egg-missing (or in my case missing-egg), the reluctance to procreate and provide siblings for poor sibling less Los and bereft grandparents is all down to being TOO BLOODY UNRELAXED and is a matter of pure choice. You see we are just not trying hard enough... Or trying too hard. Or are forgetful of withering ovaries (My Mum 'I shall be saying something if you hit 30 and there's still no sign'). Either way.

You are all hilarious and it feels a lot less lonely to share the madness.

Btw £11 on 2x CB digital a week now seems a reasonable, if not essential expense. Must relax xx

Fivemonkeysjumpingonthebed · 01/06/2015 23:01

KT that is outrageous! To be honest I have hidden a number of people on Facebook and they have no idea.

Haha I literally got a text from my Mum saying "if it is meant to be it will happen". What does that even mean? Someone at my work often says 'you aren't going to let DC be an only child are you, that would be awful'. And my final offering is my FIL also tells me to hurry up and have a BOY baby.

Love this thread Grin

FlatWhiteToGo · 01/06/2015 22:40

KT I'm genuinely shocked. How could anyone think that's ok? I'm so sorry Sad.

This thread has put a smile on my miserable face! I'm so glad I'm not alone. I'm actually thinking of coming off Facebook for some time as I just can't take it anymore...and like you say KT, people seem incapable of talking about ANYTHING else once they have a child!x

ktkaye · 01/06/2015 20:01

To be fair to them, I think it was a case of getting swept up in the moment plus an open bar. But still! Thanks for the outrage!!

this thread is getting me going, please may I add to the list of difficult things....People who have babies and post ENDLESS BLOODY PHOTOS of them to the exclusion of all other former interests, activities or friends. I am truly happy for you, really I am, your baby is gorgeous, as was 'hint', the official pregnancy announcement, scan photo (x2), photo of small bump, photo of bugger bump, photo of bump so big you can't see your feet, the photo of the nursery, the announcement that you are overdue, the birth announcement and photos from the hospital. Photo from day 1, first trip out, Grandma meeting baby, baby asleep, You get the idea. I love babies, I love you my dear friends. But can we talk about something else, please? ESP as some of us are a leetle sensitive on the subject. Ahem. My husband has made me swear that I will not be a facebook baby bore. We will only bore eachother with our raptures xx

Augusthomotherium · 01/06/2015 19:26

Omg ktkay I don't think anything beats that. Shock

diamondsparkles · 01/06/2015 17:36

kt - that's horrendous at your wedding?? What is wrong with people? And totally with you on the ovulation sticks too - do them all the time and for what? Really think all my years of bc have fucked up my system too.
I love this thread - it's all so bloody true!

Cheesymonster · 01/06/2015 16:51

ktkaye I am appalled at that. Who does that on someone else's special day?

I took bc pills for 18 years and then had dd when I was 36 so I hope you can take some hope from that.

ktkaye · 01/06/2015 16:40

Also, ovulation sticks. Every. Day. And still nothing after months!
Wishing I hadn't had 13 years of bc and wondering if I really have fucked up my reproductive system

ktkaye · 01/06/2015 16:38

oooo some friends of mine announcing their pregnancy over the microphone AT MY WEDDING!!!

Cheesymonster · 01/06/2015 16:20

Sorry about your mmc fatty

I have now deactivated my Facebook account because I'm fed up of pg and new baby announcements. And fucking baby showers, who invented them anyway?!

Youngoldmum · 01/06/2015 15:59

Oh and being sick of 'wasting' money on flipping conception vitamins!!!!

Youngoldmum · 01/06/2015 15:56

A really good weekend can be ruined by someone's pregnancy announcement. Makes me sound so bitter but it just seems so unfair

FattyFishwife · 01/06/2015 15:02

here for another SIL pregnancy...#4 for her....has 2 teenager DD's off the rails and in therapy for whatever reason, as she cant control them, and a 5 year old, and got pregnant by accident, and 'was gutted' and 'didnt want another' when she found out.

of course now shes thrilled blah blah blah as FB tells me.....FFS has she never heard of contraception or abstention if she didnt want another....

also here for the holding the stick under different lights/lamps/by the window, closing one eye, squinting, getting closer to the stick/screen, looking from a distance, taking specs off, putting them on, lightning/darkening/inverting the photo.....

people finding out that I am trying for number 6 to complete my family....." surely you dont want another/you must be mad/rather you than me/dont you think 6 is too many, a big greedy/is your telly broke/was it an accident"

in answer....... - yes i do, no im not/quite possibly i am (depending on my mood at the time), well im not you am i, who are you to tell me how big my family should be, or when i should feel ready to stop, no, we shag during the adverts/no it was very much planned and worked for!

something that has previously taken no longer than 3 months has now take over 2 years (ending in an mmc 4 weeks ago) why cant my bloody body do what its SUPPOSED to do, and what is supposed to be natural.....

getting your button/zip stuck,or not being able to get your knickers down quick enough when you are utterly and completely BURSTING for that first pee of the morning, or not being able to find the clean pee pot/plastic jug/toothbrushing beaker to pee in, because you absolutely HAVE to get that first morning urine to get the BEST chance of seeing that BFP

kitkat1989 · 01/06/2015 14:33

honestly id love to know how all these accidents happen!!

i get fed up of hearing oh itll happen one day!

also a friend is due today and has spent months saying how she cant do this that or the other cos shes oregnant. stop fucking rubbing it in!!!
