Hi ladies,

Just joined up & wanted to say hi & to see if anyone else in a similar boat to me?

I'm 29 and this is my first cycle off the pill. Currently on day 29th & so far not much is happening. I've been tracking my temp, so far no rise for ovulation. I have been treated for PCOS a few years ago but can't ever remember a normal cycle. I managed to get pregnant but sadly ended in miscarriage at 8 weeks. Went back on the pill not long after. Feeling nervous that my cycles could still be linked to PCOS or is this just down to the pill?

What have other peoples cycles been like when stopped the pill?

Xxx

Hi Trijo - I was on mercilon too! I got a period almost when I should have although cycles have been a but wonky, never mind I'm still getting AF each month!

Margo I did exactly the same!!!! I like how they are day labelled so I don't forget them.

Ktkaye just wait until first day proper flow - that's officially CD1. I'm on CD 6 and AF just gone so will start OPKs CD10 I think.

ktkaye · 10/06/2015 20:39

Yay HannahFlo you're back! And primed for baby making Grin

Tamara I feel your pain. Have done all my data and that's fine but reports are due
Soon and I haven't started Shock. Roll on the end of July. When does your school break up?

Welcoming back off and on Period pains this eve. Only brownish spotting going on though, hoping everything is going to start to 'clear out' properly soon. Did you say your spotting went on for a few days Tamara? Wondering when to put this in to ovia. Should I wait for a proper flow do you think? Xx

Tamara160 · 10/06/2015 20:11

My DH seems ok about the whole TTC thing, he hasn't freaked out as of yet! I mentioned that I was going to get some vitamins for TTC and he just looked at me, shrugged and said 'ok'. I don't think it seems very real to him yet. Until he sees a positive test I think it seems almost dream like at the moment for him.

Thanks Margo, I have everything crossed! Good luck to you too!

Wow KtKaye! Good job you moved everything, can you imagine what your evening would have been like?! Today has been stressful and manic what with final assessments due on Friday, so have been frantically trying to plug gaps today! Found out our reports deadline is 22nd June and we don't get the pro forma until Friday plus various other bits going on this week! How has your day been?

Hahahahahaaa Margo that's what I did wth mine!!! They are so like my old pill packet. Actually I've hidden all baby contraband (opk, opk digital, preg tests) in a large makeup bag and tucked it down the side of my bed. Not so much to hide it from oh as he does know I've been obsessed with getting my body back to normal but in laws were around last week and I don't want anyone to know we are about to start trying (mil already making plans about how she can looks after the non existent baby she doesn't know we are even trying for - which is lovely but a little forward thinking even for me!). I thought I was being silly hiding everything as I had put it all in a bathroom drawer already (who looks in a bathroom drawer?). Both my mil and my friend as it turns out!!! I have recently painted it and they were looking at the colour. Thank God I took everything out -
Couldn't handle the questions!
How has everyone's day been? welcome all newbies xx

Margo5 · 10/06/2015 19:25

Welcome TriJo!
Rose and Allyd, glad that we are all having similar experiences with our other halves! If DH knew I was on here it'd scare him - if I get tempted with OPKs I think I will have to hide them - nice to know he's not the only one worrying. He has also discussed it down the pub after football!
After reading advice on here I bought some evening primrose oil and also some star flower oil capsules to help with any side affects from coming off the pill. Any help is worth a try! I also bought some Seven Seas trying For A Baby vitamins. (I took them out of the blatantly labelled box so DH doesn't get scared, but now they look like contraceptive pills!) Blush

TriJo · 10/06/2015 12:47

Joining in here - 31 in a couple of weeks, off Mercilon since mid-April, got my period 16th May on CD33, got married a week later and have been in Ireland and the west coast of the US for most of the time since then, just back to work! I've historically had long cycles - I've only spent three and a half years on the pill and before it my cycle was generally 35-40 days, so 33 in my first one off it doesn't seem weird at all.

Am in reasonably good physical shape - was able to fit the vintage equivalent of a modern size 8-10 for my wedding dress and have my second summer of triathlons coming up, have been running for 7 years, swimming for 3 and cycling for 2. My husband is mad keen to be a dad, even the thought of babies makes him so happy and it's adorable.

Rose58 · 10/06/2015 12:14

Re the caffine issue I think you should limit your intake when TTC. There are so many conflicting reports. Some say green tea stops your body from absorbing folic acid (very creeped out right now as have been drinking 5 mugs a day for years including the last three months of taking folic acide!!) although othter reports state one cup a day boosts fertility....! Think I will just cut back to one or two cups a day.

My OH is exactly the same!! Has agreed to TTC but casually, thats why the OPKs are hidden! I think it is just a man 'thing' to be honest, don't worry about it too much.

allyd84 · 10/06/2015 10:34

Yep my oh is the same, says he wants a baby and we should try but if i mention it he gets a rabbit in head light look so trying to ease him in hence the sneaky opks. Think most men would have a freak out if they new half the discussions on here. Plan to keep craziness on mumsnet and only have the odd calm mention of ttc with hubby. P.s my oh seems to worry about being good dad to - apparently he has been discussing down the pub! Just hope his mates dont make him more nervous, lol.

Margo5 · 10/06/2015 08:15

Hi again everyone - Rose58, Tamara160 fingers crossed for Spring babies Wink.
Does anyone out there have a DH/DP who is a bit scared and doesn't seem as keen as them? DH goes quiet when I mention anything about TTC and was a bit confused about me coming off the pill in June when we said we wouldn't start trying until July/Aug time. I have explained about wanting to get my body back to normal after being on the pill so long... I also said that it wouldn't matter if we got a BFP straight away, he looked a little scared bless him! He does want a baby but I think that reality has hit and he is worried about how it will change our lives and also about being a good dad... Hmm

ktkaye · 10/06/2015 06:36

Is caffeine meant to be bad whilst TTC? I'm
Confused by all the different info out there. I guess like anything unnatural it's better not to have. But I'm a teacher and sometimes it's either I have or coffee or no one is doing any learning haha!

Sex ed was sooooo like 'if you look at a boy, you'll get pregnant'. Granted I can see why they emphasised the importance of caution. However I do think it has set me up with some unrealistic expectations for when the time comes to TTC!

Currently lying in bed with the tiniest of cramps wondering whether I dare get up and have a wee. What if the pinky tinge has gone and it was all just a lovely dream?! (Note to self - your idea of a lovely dream has become odd. Must be less odd).

Tamara160 · 09/06/2015 23:50

KtKaye I know what you mean. During sex education lessons at school they always make out that you'll get pregnant the first time you have sex! Not as easy as that! I really hope AF comes soon, hopefully the pinkish tinge is an indicator! I'm ok otherwise, feeling very bloated at the moment, actually looks like i'm pregnant! I think (hope) it's just water weight and not that I've put a ton of weight on haha!

Yes, Ally defo keep us posted! I hope it works!

Rose, I used to have a coffee each morning and then occasionally 1 at the weekend. But recently I've hardly had any, I haven't gone off it as such, just not been that bothered.

Rose58 · 09/06/2015 22:34

Oh - before I Forget how are you all limiting your cafine intake? I drink 5 mugs of green tea per day. Is that too much? I only have the occasional coffee/latte

Rose58 · 09/06/2015 22:33

Ktkaye - I get this too. In fact I had it a week before AF this cycle (31 days my longest cycle since coming off pill). I have a GP appt on Thursday to ask about this as not sure why I'm spotting beforehand. Hoping it's completely normal!

Let me know how the Agnus castus works. I've been contemplating it as cycles are ranging from 24-31 days just now as I have no idea when I ovulate!!

allyd84 · 09/06/2015 22:30

Thanks! Will defo give it a go and keep you posted ;)

Tamara160 · 09/06/2015 22:19

Agnus cactus!! That's the name of it! So happy I remembered, it was driving me mad! You can get it from Holland and Barrett I think. It comes up if you google it. Lots of women on various threads have said it's worked for them so may be worth a try.

ktkaye · 09/06/2015 22:17

Tamara!

ktkaye · 09/06/2015 22:17

Hi ally, sorry, I missed your previous post. I am so so behind you on the AF frustrations. I used to do pregnancy tests when I was a teen even though I never missed a pill because I was SO convinced I would get pregnant!! Har de har har. not as simple as that is it?
No ov for me this month (unless in the week I didn't test it happened?!) but apparently the opk aren't always sensitive enough to pick the hormones up. Anyway, just sending you some Flowers you aren't the only one obsessing! Angus castus has a good reputation for regulating hormones. And evening primrose too.
If my symptoms aren't AF I'll be straight down to Holland and Barratt to get some herbs haha!
Yamaha how are you? Xxx

allyd84 · 09/06/2015 21:51

Oh let me know if you remember name of herbal stuff- will try anything. Would love a holiday but kinda wanna save it for when I know I'm ov - if I can ever work out cycle!

allyd84 · 09/06/2015 21:49

I'm confused by the whole cm thing altogether and have false nails hence the tests! Lol. Fingers crossed for you. Also does anyone else spend hours looking at opk tests. 2 lines positive but 2 lines also negative? And have to work out if darker than control? V confusing!

Tamara160 · 09/06/2015 21:47

Ooo KtKaye that's exactly what I had for about 3 day before I came on!! fingers crossed AF appears in a few days! I'm actually stupidly excited for you haha!

Hi Ally! I agree with Rose, try to get away for the weekend or something, it may help. AF is so different for everyone, fingers crossed it will return soon. Some people are taking a herbal supplement to get their cycles back on track. I can't for the life of me remember what it's called. I think it's on this thread somewhere. Can anyone remember what it's called?

x

ktkaye · 09/06/2015 21:19

Haha! I have this image of the hundreds of women out there furtively peeing on the little opk sticks every morning and evening and staring at them madly with one eye (or is that just me?)
News here... Slight pinkish discharge (sorry if tmi) but is this it... Is AF coming back??!!!!! Ppllleeeaaasseeee! I love would be soap oy. It's been so long since AF I can't actually remember what's normal for my body. Hope this is a good sign though. Does anyone else get this before they come on?
Apologies, I do realise how odd my fascination in my CM is but Where else can I obsess? Xx

Rose58 · 09/06/2015 20:49

Hey ally - try not to worry. Do you have any holiday plans? Book some time away and relax. Enjoy the baby making process. Don't worry about slyly doing OPKs - we are all at it!!

allyd84 · 09/06/2015 19:22

Hi all, new to site too and no AF since stopping Yasmin 10th April, after years of being told even an upset stomach could result in missed pill and baby it now seems much harder than I was led to believe, wish I'd known as would have not waited so long to stop pill. Now no AF and GP said come back in 6 months :( worried pill may have been hiding something wrong but they won't do tests, just said not to worry as that makes it worse. Agreed with husband wouldn't worry for first year. Ha! have know bought 30 x opk one step on amazon and testing daily without oh knowing so I'm naughty too! Also have had 'pmt', crying, tired, cramp for 3 weeks but no AF spots or anything at all. TTC 1 and 31 in two weeks- wish I'd started earlier!

Tamara160 · 09/06/2015 00:00

I'll get some Seven Seas vitamins tomorrow then. KtKaye, your boobs comment really made me laugh! Probably a good idea to go back to condoms, give your body a chance to sort itself out. Fingers crossed AF makes an appearance soon and good luck with your hormonal kit!

Hi Margo! I really want a Spring baby too, partially because we have so many birthdays later on in the year haha! I'm trying really hard not to buy any extra tests and just track the dates using the calendar on my phone. So far I've been strong but i'm not sure how long i'll last when we actively start trying!
xx
