Hi ladies,

Just joined up & wanted to say hi & to see if anyone else in a similar boat to me?

I'm 29 and this is my first cycle off the pill. Currently on day 29th & so far not much is happening. I've been tracking my temp, so far no rise for ovulation. I have been treated for PCOS a few years ago but can't ever remember a normal cycle. I managed to get pregnant but sadly ended in miscarriage at 8 weeks. Went back on the pill not long after. Feeling nervous that my cycles could still be linked to PCOS or is this just down to the pill?

What have other peoples cycles been like when stopped the pill?

Xxx

I stopped taking the pill last month, currently on CD18 so we'll see what happens! My period started as soon as I came off and lasted for 5 days - I originally got put on the pill 16 years ago for irregular periods that lasted waaaaay too long (like, 6 weeks too long) so I'm pleased my first one was a normal length! I haven't had a "natural" cycle in 16 years, this is all very new to me.

I started using the Clearblue Fertility Monitor just to see what my cycle is like (I know it says take two cycles before you start using it but I'm impatient and I wanted to know). Each day my result has been "high" with no "peak" or "low" readings. Hopefully over the next few cycles I'll start getting peak days. We're looking to start TTC in September/October.

Omg kt that's so weird I had just downloaded ovia too and realised I couldn't answer any if the questions! Can you count CD days from your last pill break or does it bit work like that? Also I can understand why you'd want to test again as it will be week 8 by the weekend for you if I remember correctly? If I was up to week 8 and had been not using any other contraception i think I would have convinced myself I was pregnant! Xx

Hello Mrs1986! Welcome to all things TTC Smile please feel free to share symptom spotting and rambling madness.

Belle I think you are right, first day of period is cd1.

I was feeling totally emosh on Saturday but now no sign of anything. No CM no spots (doubtless they are brewing) no cramps, no nothing. I stupidly downloaded Ovia and the first q is 'how long was your last period?' Well it was about 12 years ago so... Wonder what cd that makes me lol! Eating a muffin in Starbucks (on my break) and wondering whether to nip in to boots to buy yet another preg test. Just so I can disappoint myself thoroughly on a wet Tuesday! No kt NO!!

Teaching is amazing, tiring but lots of fun! I've got an inset day today and we're doing cooking and pe training! Whoo hoo!

The trying part is definitely lots of fun ;) so far no sign of af yet but i remain hopeful! So far I've had no spots (touch wood) but hopefully my body won't go too crazy!

Belle888 · 02/06/2015 12:09

Hi mrs1986 welcome to the gang! I have a question - probably a silly one I should no the answer to - how do you know what day of your cycle you are? Is day 1 the first day of AF? I'm still so confused about all these cycle days, ovulation days ect! Thanks xx

Tho123 · 02/06/2015 11:48

Hi Mrs1986,

Really? I'm dreading the return of acne that my pill has settled down!

Tho.

Mrs1986 · 02/06/2015 09:49

Hi Ladies,
I've been reading your thread this morning and giggling!
I am 29 , came off the pill at the end of April. Had one full cycle which was strangely an emotional roller coaster. It's stupid of me but I convinced myself I was pregnant and that the tests were wrong. Then AF came two days late and practically broke my heart!

Having been on the pill for like 14 years, I had no idea how much it was masking. I now have the teenage spots I left behind, heavy and painful AF and super emotional!!
Now I'm on day 4 of my cycle and looking forward to some 'early nights' next week! Xx

HannahFlo · 02/06/2015 07:20

I'm certainly enjoying the 'trying' part of this journey WinkWink

Tamara160 · 02/06/2015 00:21

KtKay I've been teaching since 2011 but this is my 2nd official year as i did supply for a few years. Did you say this was your first class? X

Tamara160 · 01/06/2015 23:11

KtKaye - i'm so glad i'm not the only one who is welling up/crying over silly things. I had to get DH to turn off a film last night. We were watching Chappie (it's about a robot with feelings) and he's just like a small child in part of it, anyway he was frightened at one point and I started sobbing! By sobbing I mean full on tears because I was so upset for him! Hubby looked at me like I was mad! Bloody hormones!

Tho - I was on microgynon 30. Hopefully we're not scaring you with our sob stories lol.

Belle - If i'm correct, AF is due tomorrow. I thought I felt bloated and achy this week, so hopefully it'll appear tomorrow.

Hannah - Soooooo exciting!! I have everything crossed for you!

How weird that we all work with children! Great though, we can share experiences. Working with babies must not be helping broodiness at all haha! Great practise though!

ktkaye · 01/06/2015 22:55

Ooo HannahFlo that's so exciting!! Fingers crossed and legs uncrossed teehee! So funny that we are all a similar age and all working with kids. I used to nanny too - it's hard work! My 'baby' who I looked after from birth is nearly 3 now and I still see him and his family. I love him to pieces and he's not even mine so goodness knows how it must feel to have your own.

No word from my womb yet this week ladies. I was convinced I had period pain over the weekend and got all pleased but there hasn't been a sign of anything since Sad Obviously she's still waking up. Oh and I getting lots of baby making practice in though which is lovely!
How about everyone else? X

HannahFlo · 01/06/2015 22:30

Hey Tho!

Lovely for you to join us! I'm soon to be 30 (in a few weeks) ahhhh and just come off the pill. Started taking it in my teens but had a break 3 years ago when I started TTC but sadly ended in miscarriage. Keeping my head up & at least I know I can catch.

I'm on my second cycle, day 6 and now I've had my first proper cycle we are getting down to business this month!! WinkWink

Hi ladies,

How is everyone? Glad you all had a good weekend! I went to stay with some family in Oxford which was lovely. Got to see my nephew too who's 8 months & bloody so cute!!

Funny how you guys work with children, I do too! I'm a nanny for 19 month old twins plus a 4 year old. It makes me so broody at times!!!

Any updates in cycles? Xx

Hi tho, kt is right im all but 26 and been on the pill since my late teens too.

Kt I like the optimism in your last message! Think we are all really aiming for August so I hope we can all be lucky ?? still no sign of AF for you?

Tamara I'm sorry I can't remember where you are you've already had yours haven't you? X

ktkaye · 01/06/2015 20:03

Not heard of that one! Sounds like a super hero!!! I was on the nexplanon implant x

Tho123 · 01/06/2015 20:00

Lol.

Was anyone on Marvelon per chance?

ktkaye · 01/06/2015 19:51

Well watch this space! Hopefully we will inspire you with how quick and easy everything is lol!

Tho123 · 01/06/2015 19:42

Hi!

We want to start TTC in the new year, so we've said I'll literally come off it January 1st (or nearest break thereafter).

I'm dying to come off earlier but I'm only new in a job so need to be there a while.

Good to hear what you are experiencing though for when I go through it!

Tho.

ktkaye · 01/06/2015 19:12

I am totally with you on the crying over writing thing. One of mine who hs never been keen on writing wrote his first unaided sentence the other day (having asked if he was allowed to do it!) and I was so delighted I welled up! Hormones lol! How long have you been teaching?
Welcome I think we are aged 26 upwards. Have you come off the pill? Dw it affects everyone in different ways but Based on my exp I'd say come off sooner rather than later to give yourself time to go back to normal. Xx

Tamara160 · 01/06/2015 18:35

Hi Tho! I'm 26 and been on it since my teens. So far I've been ok, just more emotional than normal. My cycle seems to be settling too thankfully! X

Tho123 · 01/06/2015 17:43

Hi,

Do you mind me asking roughly how old you guys are?

I've been on the pill since late teens, now mid thirties, I dread to think how my body is going to react!

Tho.

Tamara160 · 01/06/2015 17:13

Aww foundation are brilliant! I nearly cried over a piece of writing the other day, i blame the hormones and broodiness! Haha. That sounds like a good plan, we're hoping to catch early august. I hope you catch when you plan to!

Ahh Belle that's so exciting, congratulations! Fingers crossed your baby will be here by then! Glad you had a good night :) x

ktkaye · 31/05/2015 19:42

That's lovely news Belle! Where is your friend hoping to get married?

I'm recovering from a good night out - aided by Thai food. Yesterday I managed to poke myself in the eye with a menu (don't ask) so I'm sporting an attractive squint at the moment! Hope it heals before work tomorrow.
