8 days late, 3 negative tests - what's going on?

Hi,
I'm now on day 39 (usually a fairly regular 29 days) and have gotten three negative results. On Sunday, I started getting PMS symptoms - slight cramping, bit of nausea, slightly tender breasts. But no AF. This morning, I had a teeny amount of spotting but nothing since. Last month, I also had a very late period - 39 days, which the doctor attributed to stress (planning a wedding, getting a new job, moving to Scotland and a death in the family) and I'm still quite stressed but I never have periods like this so I'm freaking out! Has this happened to any of you ladies? Any advice welcome!

It turns out the first doctor did the wrong test and the other doctor thinks it is PCOS. I'm absolutely devastated, I'm so worried we won't be able to have children.

hi how is every doing? a wee update from me. my period next period was due today and it arrived right on schedule. just so strange how I skipped 1 last month? starting the pill so that shld regulate it a bit more

Honey85 · 29/05/2015 22:07

Hi! I had this a few years ago. My cycles were always like clockwork (for 10 years) and then suddenly changed ... Varying from 28 days to upto 80 days sometimes! They were like this for 3 years. all tests came back normal and the gp said he would only look into it 12 Mths after ttc with no luck.

Fortunately I caught with my daughter after 12 mths ... Prob 8/9 cycles. Since having her periods returned to normal ... So very strange. Very common though as I have a few friends and family members whose cycles have done the same .... Mostly when ttc though frustratingly!

That's weird, supermummy25, they gave me about 4 different blood tests including thyroid tests straight away. I don't have any children; we're getting married in August though so I would be delighted to be pregnant ASAP! My fiance wants to wait a little bit though, so have to persuade him first. I think I can talk him into not really trying but not trying to avoid during the honeymoon, so fingers crossed!

Sylvie, I hope it comes soon - that must be really stressful! The first time it happened, the doctor assured me that it was clearly stress, so if you're all having a stressful time hopefully it's something like that.

Hi, can I join the conversation? I know how you feel-it's been 6 weeks since my last period and no sign of AF. I've done loads of tests and all negative. I'd love to be pregnant so am completely symptom spotting which is driving me mad. I hadn't thought about thyroid or anything like that.
Good luck all of you!

Supermummy25 · 26/05/2015 14:42

Supermummy25 · 26/05/2015 14:41

Sylvie35 · 26/05/2015 09:28

Hi,

Still no AF here either! Made another Dr appt for next week to see what he thinks it is, as all hormone tests etc came back normal. Mainly to help put my mind at ease, as i am still worrying!

Supermummy25 · 26/05/2015 09:26

so doc says they wont check my thyroid til my period is irregular for a few month. i have the pill 2 regulate it although i feel as if its going to come byt i felt like that last time too and it never appeared. apparantly its quite common to miss a period Hmm

Supermummy25 · 26/05/2015 00:02

hiya, still no AF, i will be due my next one next wednesday lol. going to docs 2moro to request thyroid tests etc..so hopefully will find out more then. i was like u even tho im not ready for another baby i had convinced myself i was pregnant bcoz thats the only time AF hasnt arrived Sad do any of u already have children? x

soontobemrslizzy · 25/05/2015 23:35

How are you both doing? Did AF come? I got tested for thyroid, hormone levels and I think glucose. I'm still going to see a go and ask but I guess it really just was stress. Unless this month is late too. I'm quite a bad worrier and so when it was late, I got really worried it was pcos or something, so I'd still like the doc to confirm it's all good. I was quite sad the pregnancy ones were negative though :(

Sylvie35 · 22/05/2015 12:52

Massively late! Last AF was early March! If everything is normal blood wise, I guess it must be stress?

Supermummy25 · 22/05/2015 11:54

hiw late are you both?.im now on day 16! this has never happened before, im feelin very anxious

Supermummy25 · 22/05/2015 11:52

Sylvie35 · 22/05/2015 11:28

Tests all come back normal, which is good! But at a loss about what I'm supposed to do now though!

Sylvie35 · 22/05/2015 09:18

Hi,

It was a test for thyroid as well as tests for hormone levels and glucose. Good luck with your results!

Supermummy25 · 21/05/2015 23:39

is the hormone test for ur thyroid? im goin to request this. as the docs just asked me to hand in a urine sample to see if im pregnant but looking at symptoms an underactive thyroid and early pregnancy symptoms r very similar! hopefully shld get my test results 2moro aswell Sad

soontobemrslizzy · 21/05/2015 21:28

I hope yours comes back normal too! I'm sure it will be OK.

That's good - hopefully now it has come you will go back to normal cycle again. I'm waiting on my test results tomorrow and can't get it out of my head! I think we all need to find new ways to relax Smile

soontobemrslizzy · 21/05/2015 17:29

My hormone tests came back normal and it finally arrived 10 days late. Don't have an appointment until June 8 though so am assuming it's just stress and will try to chill out a bit! At least if the hormone test is normal, I hope that means not too much else could be wrong!

Supermummy25 · 20/05/2015 21:40

hi everyone i am the exact same. my period is now 14days late...feeling nauseous, but neg tests. i handed in a urine sample at the doc today to get tested for the hormone levels to c if i actually am pregnant. my periodnis normally like clockwork every 28days so this is very unusual for me..only time my period has ever been late is when i was actually pregnantHmm dont know whats goin on? x

Sylvie35 · 20/05/2015 19:38

Hi,

I'm freaking out about those same things! Had blood tests for hormone levels, thyroid etc this morning - really nervous about the results now! How are you getting on?

soontobemrslizzy · 19/05/2015 18:16

The thing that is really freaking me out is the fact that I've had some spotting, some light cramps and some nausea, but still no period. I never normally get spotting and the cramps are much lighter than normal but still no period.
