Hi all,

Am TTC#1 after being after being on cerelle (was called cerazette) pill for approx 4/5 years, just wondering how quickly AF arrived for anyone else on this and also how quickly people conceived?...

Also, it is poss to fall before AF arrives?

TIA :)

I wonder if anyone can help me! I came off the pill (Cerelle) on the 12th Feb and this is the first time ttc. I had what I believe to be a withdrawal bleed on the 15th - 18th Feb. I am due on tomorrow but am sure I O’d in 27th. I’m due on tomorrow although I’ve had strange symptoms like weird sleeping patterns, insomnia, a blocked nose, extreme irritability and mood swings. Any advice or experience as to whether you think AF is around the corner or anyone had any similar experiences?!
😊

Hi, I came off cerelle last day in October after being on it a few years. I had a period 28days later and felt normal throughout the first pill free month. During the second pill free month I had severely sore breasts, and general feeling of strangeness. I had a period at the end of the second month and after that my body calmed down. We continued trying to conceive during January and found my period to be late. Took a test a week ago after feeling strange and having sore breasts and said it said not pregnant. Waited 5 days and took three more, the first said pregnant 2-3, second pregnant 1-2 and third pregnant 2-3! Smile I have booked a doctors appointment to confirm my pregnancy. I wish you all well in road to conceiving and hope I have been informative with my experience of coming off cerelle.

I was taking cerazette for 18 months and came off it at the start of June. I had no withdrawal bleed, but then had a proper period on the 10th August and 27 days later had another period which was much lighter. Currently on cd33 and no sign of AF at all, despite several negative tests.

I never tracked my periods before i went on the pill so not entirely sure if I have ever been totally regular! Trying to be relaxed about TTC is so difficult, I can totally sympathise! Confused

Pickie 80 I had all the same symptoms thought my pmt was coming but nothing yet been off pill for nearly a month
I have done pregnancy tests but negative

Kell, my first cycle off cerelle was 50 days. Then I had a 23 day cycle. I'm currently on day 22 of third cycle. It's normal for your cycles to be out of wack and you'll experience lots and lots of pregnancy symptoms. Just wait for AF. Confused

Kellnutt22 · 19/12/2016 19:46

Belle888 · 27/05/2015 21:24

Hi pickle80 I'm in a similar situation to you and have just come off the pill. Did you start doing ovulation tests straight away or do you have to wait for your first AF? Sorry I'm so new to this too and have no idea where to start! Confused xx

MrsPCR · 16/05/2015 22:47

Hey I stopped taking cerelle end of February after a year. Prior to that I had the implant for 5 years and cerazette for 2-3 years. Had my initial withdrawal bleed followed by a normal period 33 days later. Next cycle was 28 and this one is looking to be 27 (or hopefully 9 months! Haha!) I've been typing and OPKs to get to know my body and make sure it was back to normal. Good luck!

Have brought a test and will do over the weekend as it says to use first wee in the morning, am doing ovulation tests everyday to figure out what's going on :)

Please post back with the result. If your AF is very irregular I would be tempted to buy loads of cheap internet tests and do a test the same day every week.

pickle80 · 15/05/2015 11:09

Think I will do one just for peace of mind, don't think it will be a bfp, hoping AF will come soon if that's what these symptoms are otherwise my body is just playing tricks on me!

Would obviously be over the moon if bfp but not upset if not as can't believe it would happen this quick..

Good luck to everyone else ttc, thank you for your comments :) x

Pickle i'd just do a test as reassurance anyway (because if you are pregnant, you don't want to miss the dates for an NT scan by finding out late)

It won't hurt to do a cheap test once a week until AF arrives (or not!) just don't get your hopes up and be disappointed if you are not getting a BFP x

Hi pickle

I was on Cerazette for 5 years and Cerelle for 1 year before i came of to TTC#1

i cam off the pill in Janaury this year and my first AF did not turn up until March, no spotting, no withdrawal bleed or anything.

Hope this helps x

pickle80 · 15/05/2015 09:29

I'm tempted but would it be too early? Thinking I might just do one a week, same time each week?.. as no AF at the mo, so no idea of cycle x

pickle I had lots of pregnancy symptoms, none of which were actually pregnancy, BUT I would still get a Superdrug test and test anyway x

pickle80 · 15/05/2015 09:21

Thank you all for your advice :)

Symptoms question! I have the below symptoms which are driving me crazy, I believe they could either be for AF or pregnancy or just my body adjusting? (I haven't had a proper AF for a while but swear it was never this bad!)

  • random waves of nausea at odd things (chicken soup, lemsip, spaghetti bolognese) no particular time or reason?
  • womb/lower region ache - for the past 2/3 days particularly... like really ache, made me stop in my tracks... and random prickly pains
  • back ache - very lower back, no other reason for it
  • sensitive bobs, not hurting just uber sensitive - anything brushing past, I can feel everything
  • bloated, looks like I've swallowed a small balloon

We've DTD 3 times since coming off pill 2 weeks ago, once day after and twice approx a week later (about a week ago)

Any ideas? I'm thinking just AF on way but never remember the symptoms being like this??

TIA x

There is no false positives with Cerelle, it doesn't contain HCG.

It's safe to start TTC immediately after stopping Cerelle.

Mostlyjustaluker · 14/05/2015 20:18

Most people suggest you should wait until 2 weeks after ovulating to reduce the chances of a false negative. If your periods are irregular and then your ovulation is probably irregular too.

Oh should of added, I was on it and cerazette for 4/5 years.

idontknowmyusernameanymore · 14/05/2015 13:39

It took me 8 months, came off of it in July and conceived in Feb, I had regular periods since I came off of it, now 14 weeks pregnant! Good luck :)

pickle80 · 14/05/2015 13:33

The spotting was horrible but all settled for me after 5/6 weeks i think?..

ah yes the hormones, they are back now i'm off it! Bit of a shock to my body i think now i'm off it and it's all adjusting! hoping it won't take much longer than 8 weeks or so, so i know when the cycles are etc.

Awww, so exciting :) here's to hoping i'll be joining you some point in the next couple of months! x

Pickle
Thanks! It's actually the only contraception I can use as I have essential hypertension caused by eclampsia, I am on beta blockers. Anything else is a stroke risk for me.

I hated it at first, random spotting, but once it settled I loved it! It also helped my serious rages and hormonal outbursts I used to get!

I did find my skin went bad for a couple of months and had a bit of hair loss, but that soon resolved itself, I was very teary and emotional too, but battle through that!

I was worrying when period would arrive, but it did after about 8 weeks. I felt like it was going to come from about 4 weeks and was getting frustrated but clearly just my body adjusting.

Thank you! I feel very lucky to have fallen so quickly and am very much looking forward to meeting him in July Smile x

pickle80 · 14/05/2015 13:22

Number3cometome Thank you for your reply, doctor said to expect 4-6 weeks minimum so will wait and see! I had one or two small AF during the 4/5 years i was on it and that was it so have no idea of my cycle! and they were quite irregular before that.

Good to read some other experiences, is helping me be a bit more realistic!

Glad you had a positive experience, was the only one that worked for me too after trying a number of different pills for acne and PMT issues! Certainly intend to go back on it after (hopefully!) DC #1

Good luck your #3 x
