We didn't find out with ds as dh didn't want to know and the hospital wouldn't tell you if the other didn't want to know!!
I'm actually glad we had a surprise as it was lovely to guess all the way through, but I am so impatient and can't wait to find out next Wednesday at 20+4!! We were put off having a 16 week scan in the end as they are apparently only just noticeable and I didn't want them to get it wrong!!
Will still have a 4d one around 26/27 weeks to confirm it and take ds :)

Indiedog · 02/06/2015 15:53

You can always get them to write the sex down, put it in sealed envelope and you give it to a friend to look after.
Then if you and your partner/hubby decide to know, sign a bit of paper (as a joke) and give to your friend saying We would like to know now!!!! Xx

Indiedog · 02/06/2015 15:51

Just booked it, I would!!' Wink Your piece of mind is very important at this stage! Ours is £55. And you get a cd, four pics, gender scan, and a sneak peek in 3D which will be very exciting, strange, bizarre to actually see baby! Plus we will be taking our DD, so I think it will be very special for her to see bump.

We want to know the sex, and I can completely understand the reasons for not too. But I do have about five suitcases of girls clothes in the loft, so if it's blue, I guess I will be having a carboot of girlie clothes! Or saving a few bob on them!

Hope everyone else is ok. Xx

Indie I know we are really lucky ! I don't think I could wait from 8 weeks to 12 weeks ! I'm going to struggle with not having one at 11 as I had to have one last week as had a lot of pain :( all seemed ok tho.
I've asked dh if we can have one a 16 weeks which he agreed if it cost £30
But it actually is £60 I'm just going I book it as I will need the reassurance until I can feel them.
I wanted to find out but someone said to me who had gone thru fertility treatment that they've gone thru so much that it might be there only baby they want a surprise now I'm thinking the same. If it's my only chance of having children do I want to find out.
Ha I will tho as I hate surprises :s xx

Indiedog · 02/06/2015 08:24

Hello Loiuse

That's lovely that you doing so well. Your lucky getting a 10wk scan, I had my eight, then had to wait till 12!!! Felt like forever.
It's amazing how the little beans can grow and catch up. I got put forward as it was a good size by 12 weeks.

We can't wait till 20wks for the next scan so have booked a private one for just over 16, also hope to find out if it's ?? or ??!!!

Xx

LouiseM1987 · 02/06/2015 08:14

Sorry ladies I was the same as Claire I thought no one was talking on here as had no emails but this morning I had one and had 3 pages I'd missed :(
Girlie glad your feeling better, I hope you still are ?
Kazz I was 13dpo from smiley but 12dpo from period before I got my bfp
I'm 9 weeks 5 according to trial or 9 weeks 4 according to period.
I have my '10' week scan tomorrow and if all goes well I have my midwife appt straight after which I'm scared about ! The scans have all shown I'm a couple of days behind and the last scan it had made up a day so hoping it's made up a couple more tomorrow.
Hope everyone else is ok xxx

girliesaints · 02/06/2015 06:58

One test at a time kazz and most people don't get a bfp to around dpo 10/11, except super early Choccy!

Kazz2112 · 02/06/2015 06:40

Fingers crossed. Strangely just had a message via Facebook from a girl at work saying she had a really vivid dream last night that I was pregnant. She doesn't know all the ins and outs of the last 12months so her timing is a little spooky!

Marchgirl · 02/06/2015 06:33

Sorry for bfn kaz, but it is still early. If you got smiley last Sunday you could have ov any time between Sunday and Tuesday (most likely Monday), so you'll be between 7 and 9 dpo. It's not over yet. I have a good feeling.

OP posts:
Kazz2112 · 02/06/2015 06:13

Another bfn this morning. Got strange cramps this morning. :s If I got a smiley a week past Sunday what day post ov am I approximately on? 9?

Kazz2112 · 01/06/2015 20:49

I just read that and thought... ooohhh... I may try that if unsuccessful this cycle... will just get one from work (I'm A science teacher!) Then I thought of all the grubby hands that have been on them...

clairemorgan81 · 01/06/2015 20:41

thanks for info March. i may attempt next month so may quiz you again nearer time x

Marchgirl · 01/06/2015 20:37

That's fine! Yes, my LH surge seems to take a while to settle after ov.

I temp vaginally although I used to do orally but i find this thermometer is a bit big to stay under the tongue easily. It's also supposed to be a bit more accurate vaginally. At the moment i use a glass thermometer because i don't want to wake dh with one that beeps (he works shifts), but it's a basal body temperature one. I think it would be much easier to use a digital as mine takes 4 minutes to cook, which i just count in my head, but sometimes i lose count because I'm dropping off!
I found it gave me back a feeling of knowing what was going on with my body, but it can induce a bit if the crazies if you're obsessive at all (like me!)

OP posts:
clairemorgan81 · 01/06/2015 19:42

so you get a positive opk after ovulation March? that's interesting as I presumed it would go negative first. I am thinking of starting temping next month. I have no idea what I'm doing really......when do I start/what kind of thermometer and where do you take temp? Sorry about quizzing you x

Marchgirl · 01/06/2015 19:29

I think you'd be wise to hold off a bit if it was stressing you out claire. I'm just a poas addict!

OP posts:
Marchgirl · 01/06/2015 19:27

I normally get 3 days positive opk with the middle one being ov day claire. Also for that reason it would seem odd for me to have ov'd yesterday as opk was negative on Saturday. But today's cm seems post ov type (but have crampy ovaries - so confused!). Hoping to know more with tomorrow's temp.

I would agree that some people generate hcg quicker than others kaz. I only know this from speaking to (lots of) pg people on here, not from any science! Noticed a lot of people who talk of regularly getting bfp around 8 or 9 dpo, whereas i have never got one before 11.
I think Hcg is driven by progesterone so from the science point of view, it would make sense that some people build up hcg quicker than others if their progesterone levels vary. Having said all that, as I've discovered is true of almost everything related to pregnancy, there seems to be a huge range that still falls under the heading of 'normal', both in relation to hcg and progesterone. Fingers crossed your line will show up soon x

You sound exactly the same as me Claire. Started trying February last year. 3mcs May, October and January. Waited until April to startTTC. This is our 2nd cycle trying to conceive

clairemorgan81 · 01/06/2015 18:54

Oh and March I 'll prob start testing next Mon or tues although after how bad it made me feel last 2 months I may try and hold off a bit?x

clairemorgan81 · 01/06/2015 18:52

kazz we started trying last March had 3 losses between May and jan and have been ttc since Feb. I caught quickly last year but this year its taking longer. I dont know if it's because im a lot more stressed now than I was plus being on trial means I'm thinking of it so Much more or maybe it's just one of those things. my biggest fear is it taking ages then m/c again.
I hope you get your bfp this month. have you fallen easily in past?
same as me then March I tested about this time last night and had Smile and it was still there this morning. would you not have a negative opk if you had ov yesterday (hence thread of blood?) I'm not 100% sure if levels decrease straight away after you have ov?

I'm not clued up on hcg levels but makes sense to me kazz x

Kazz2112 · 01/06/2015 18:35

I'm hoping by thursday. After that ill start to prepare for AF which I expect between Friday and Sunday.

What do you all know about hcg levels?

I read somewhere natural level is between 0.5ul and 5ul (not sure if that's the correct unit!) And the doubles every 72 hours post conception.

So some people can double to 10 then 20 within 6 days (Choccy??) So can detect very early whilst others (ie. Me I think!) Don't reach a detectable value until AFTER AF is due. (Increases 1,2,4,8,16,32) I reckon I fall into the low category as I did my very first test for first pg the night before AF was due. But didn't get a positive till 4 days late (although I didn't test in between ) and even then it was very faint.

Would this make sense for anyone else?

Marchgirl · 01/06/2015 18:13

I think the hyperfertility theory does fit for you girlie, I hope Coventry brings you some answers x

I just got my smiley this morning claire, but didn't test yesterday so suspect I would have been smiley yesterday pm as I normally get PM smiley before AM one. I also got a tiny silk thread of blood yesterday afternoon so wondering if I might even have ov then (in which case dtd timing was even worse). Anyway, I'll be starting the progesterone next Monday and probably testing from next wed or thurs. What's your testing plan?

kaz, I'm hoping you'll have bfp at least a week before us Grin

OP posts:
Kazz2112 · 01/06/2015 17:50

Glad you're recovering Girlie. I think taking a week off is a good idea. Just to give your body a rest.

How long have you been ttc for Claire? Have you caught quite quickly before? Here's hoping that this month is a good month for both you and March! And that I can't join you with a bfp.

clairemorgan81 · 01/06/2015 17:48

girlie I hope your resting up. I felt like that after my last loss the time in limbo kind of prepared me, doesnt make it easier just more accepting as I knew deep down. its so bloody shit.

March yes were close again this month - did you get Smile on Sat?
acupuncture was good, I felt a bit strange as I can't see how it will help but I'm hoping for some results. weekly sessions at moment hoping to go to every other week soon for cost x

Marchgirl · 01/06/2015 17:33

I have high hopes for you too claire, and it looks like we'll be almost identical times testing this month. Hoping for two bfps!
How did you like the acupuncture? I go every week but only because it's cheap. Wouldn't be able to afford that often at full price.

OP posts:
girliesaints · 01/06/2015 17:32

Feeling ok, though I've got period like pain but less blood loss than I've had previously (sorry if tmi)

I've decided to have this week off as sick and then I'll go back next week so hopefully it will have settled down my then. Mentally I'm fine, which is freaking me a bit as I keep expecting to have a breakdown. Perhaps the three weeks of limbo helped prepared me.

Claire, i reckon when you do get a bfp it's going to be super sticky! The response nurses seem to agree other my theory than I'm super fertile as I seem to fall the first month of trying, which leads me to think it's accepting any old rubbish egg!
