TWW officially begins!!!!!

AF due 13th May and have no idea of how I'm going to wait that long!

This is our first cycle TTC baby #1 and since we have decided to try I have been very anxious. I just want this to happen, my close family have all had fertility issues and I've convinced myself I will too.

Just thought I'd start thus for support for all wanting some words if encouragement.

Hi all,

elle and bourbon - great to hear from you!

elle - fantastic work on the running and losing weight, you're doing really well. Keep us updated. slowly and surely is definitely the way to do it re losing weight (not the crash wedding diet I'm planning on!!). Really sorry you're bleeding again, that must be tough to take. But as you say, it's early days and if you noticed if being lighter already then it's going in the right direction.

bourbon - glad you enjoyed Barcelona. I hope your last day at work went well and lots of luck in your new job, you'll have to let us know how you get on. Bali sounds great! I went a couple of years ago and it was fab!

Wedding planning is coming along well for me - just over 3 weeks to go!! Can't believe it's so soon! We've got pretty much everything sorted in the last week or so really so now just excited and going to try not to go mad with food on my holiday this week so I still fit in my dress!

In terms of TTC - I had my peak on Friday and Saturday so think I must have ovulated now but my nipples aren't sore at all (sorry!) and they always are straight after ov so not sure.... Trying to tell myself it doesn't matter if it doesn't happen this month as champagne on my wedding day would be nice but would really like it to happen!!

Off to Italy on holiday tomorrow for a week so will try to check in as and when. Hope everyone else is ok.

ellewalk · 21/07/2015 09:18

Hi

Just thought I would check in and see how you are all doing, looks like we have all been busy Grin.

bourbon glad you had a great time I would love a holiday this year but don't think we will get one, might get a few days away in the UK around September but that depends on the weather.

soda hope you enjoyed your weekend Wink how are your plans coming one.

Well I lost 1 1/2lbs last week, weigh in again on Thursday fingers crossed more has come off....start week 5 of my running app tonight (please stop raining!) I can honestly tell you that I am really starting to feel the difference now. For week 4 I was running for 16 mins in 2 blocks of 3 mins then 5 mins with a little walk time in between. I ran for longer than I walked! never thought I could possibly do that. By the end of more 3rd run this week I will be running for a solid 20 minutes or so it says!, I will give it my all. I can really feel the difference in my body, my legs have toned up nicely, including my arse bottom! my middle section is starting to feel more toned.....i am really excited to see what the changes will be when I get up to running the 30mins the app says i should be able to do! On the TTC journey, started bleeding again at CD9 but much lighter than last month so it is more manageable, still broke my heart when it started though just reminded me of my PCOS all over again and the fact that I am not ovulating Sad.

Anyway all the good luck in the world to us all in our TTC. I will keep checking in even though it is not likely to happen for me for a while if that's okay girls. Love hearing your news and your kind words of support xx

bourbondreams · 20/07/2015 11:35

Hi girls! just checking in to say Hi!!!!! am keeping my fx for you all this month.

Barcelona was amazing, but I was ill after and then cos I had taken meds to delay my AF i was then suffering all the end of last week and this weekend.

Tomorrow is my last day at work! Crazy!!! I have so much to sort out, which isn't fun! but getting there slowly! I can't wait to start my new job this time next week!

Also we have booked a massive holiday for my mum's 50th next June. Off to Bali! Which will be lovely, and nice cos it ties in with our TTC plans, as I wouldn't be too far gone if I do get pregnant quickly when we start trying again - but who knows! What will happen will happen.

soda that is really good to hear and reassuring what your friend has said.

How are the rest of you getting on?

And how are the wedding plans?

Sodasoda · 18/07/2015 17:57

Hi everyone!

Hope you're all having good weekends. I got my peak OPK yesterday, earliest in my cycle I've had it before (cd14). Bit disappointed it wasn't next week when we're on hol but at least it's the weekend so making the most of it! ????

Nicola96 · 18/07/2015 14:12

Thanks for the reply. I had a look on the boxes and instructions for the sensitivity but I can't find it anywhere. I've also ready that some people get their BFP like a month or so later too. I'm starting to think I'm not pregnant and that its just hormones from the implant being taken out. Let's just hope it's now ?? Xx

Sodasoda · 16/07/2015 13:59

Hi everyone,

So I quizzed my fertility doctor friend last night about everything. She was really reassuring - she's been doing a lot of research in her work about ovulation and she said it really doesn't matter when in the month it happens. She said my short LP was also nothing to worry about. Basically she says ovulation varies widely from woman to woman but can also be different every month for 1 person. Having regular, normal periods is usually a fairly certain sign that you're ovulating and she said beyond that stop worrying! She also said try to avoid using OPKs and don't just focus on DTD around them - make sure you're doing it throughout the month every 2 or 3 days. (May ignore this advice - I love my OPKs!)

Also asked her about my random brown spotting last month and she encouraged me to take another pregnancy test. Got myself all excited because I actually threw up this morning completely randomly! But BFN. She said it could just be body adjusting to being off pill or a sign of infection like thrush. I'm due for a smear test too so she told me to get that done.

Hope this is all useful for people!

gakay hope you're feeling ok today and less anxious. Huge FX for you during this TWW.

Hi nicola - I'd just keep testing until you either get BFP or AF arrives! Good luck!

gakay · 16/07/2015 08:08

Welcome Nicola
Do you know how sensitive your tests are? It may be that the one you used isn't sensitive enough to pick up low hcg in early pg. I've read that some women didnt get positive results until several days after their AF was due. Having said that, also prepare yourself for the arrival of AF. Test again with FRER. Sometimes Pre-AF symptoms can be awfully like early pg symptoms, esp if your AF is late. Fx for you that you'll get your BFP

Nicola96 · 15/07/2015 16:36

Hi everyone,

Sorry that this isn't the right place but could I post this here as I'm new to number and need some help and advice please?

So for a few days I've been getting symptoms for pregnancy and periods... I was in work last night and thought I'd take a test as my period didn't come and it was 2 days late... It was negative....

The first day of my period was on the 11th June 2015 if this helps anyone? My periods are usually regular and I don't usually feel like this before my period.

I had my implant out in May 2015 and only had it in for a year.

Should I wait a few more days to do another test? Yes I'm TTC with my partner.

I've been experiencing nausea (which had increased since yesterday it's getting worse but I haven't been sick yet), fatigue, getting warm quickly, breasts ache, back ache, missed period this will be the 4th day if I don't come on today, mood swings and I've just started to get aching pains in mostly my right breast but in both of them too!!

I'd appreciate all the help I get, thanks you xx

gakay · 15/07/2015 13:53

soda isn't it frustrating that our body can't work like textbooks and us not being able to control it? I'm trying to tell myself that everything will be OK in the end and one cycle of ridiculously short follicular phase (9 days!) doesn't mean every cycle will be the same.
Oh yes please wrt getting advice from your friend. That's so convenient to have a fertility Dr fd!
Think I might start having pineapples as read somewhere it helps with implantation. Can't believe I'm in tww already!

Elle well done for doing the NHS couch thing. My fd started summer and she has just completed a 10k marathon a little while ago. I've never been a runner… I blame it on my flat feet and bad knees... but they are probably just excuses...

I feel extremely anxious today for some reason; my heart is racing and keep feeling like about to cry. Perhaps I'm getting stressed about clearing all my work before I go on leave. And am doing a 24h shift again today Sad

ellewalk · 14/07/2015 16:56

Afternoon all

gakay i have started the NHS couch to 5k run app and I am really enjoying it and I have not done any exercise for about 10 years. it really does break it down to a manageable run. I start week 4 (out of 9) tonight and will be running for a total of 16 minutes, the longest yet, up from 9 minutes last week. It has loads of walking in it so that it is achievable. I do it 3 times a week and it lasts for 30 minutes so really fits in well with life. Fingers crossed your short FP is nothing to worry about, hopefully Soda's friend might be able to cast some light on it!

Soda* well done with the dress, i found it quite easy, as soon as I saw my dress I knew it was the one, in fact I only tried a few different ones because my mum made me, but I knew it was the one and it was!

All the best to you all x

Sodasoda · 14/07/2015 12:31

I feel your pain with the cycles gakay although we seem the have opposite problems - I have a long follicular phase (it seems to vary between 18-20 days) but then a short luteal phase. Ovia says my LP is 11 days which I've read is very bad because it wouldn't give any time for the egg to implant. I don't temp so don't know for sure when I ovulate but I know that AF has so far arrived on the 14th day after my first positive OPK. I always get a positive for 2 days so I think Ovia is assuming I ovulate the next day. Hmmm. Luckily my school friend (doctor who specialises in fertility) is coming to stay with me tomorrow for a couple of nights so I will be quizzing her! I've warned her that listening to me is payment for having her! Wink I'll update you with any advice she has. For now I'm starting to drink a glass of grapefruit juice starting tomorrow (supposed to help with EWCM). Haven't ordered pre-seed yet but planning to as well.

gakay · 14/07/2015 09:52

Elle looks like I missed your post yday. Am glad you are feeling more hopeful and your DH is supportive. It's good that your weight loss target is higher than the one recommended by your GP. I've been telling myself to start exercising for a year now but still not motivated enough. Am feeling really bad about it.

soda well done for finding your wedding dress. It sounds lovely! Don't think I'll do anything with wedding dress for now as I still hope I'll get pg soon...

Think I've ov'd now as there seems to be a temp shift this morning. I'm starting to get worried about how my follicular phase seems to be getting shorter and shorter. Have just read that it's associated with low pg rate. Well, the percentage of viable pg rate is shockingly low at single figure Sad
And it is also associated with low ovarian reserve...

Sodasoda · 13/07/2015 16:36

Happy Monday! I got my wedding dress at the weekend! Grin So excited! Was really worried I wouldn't have much choice Bd wouldn't find anything I loved with the day being so soon but it's perfect! Big weight off my shoulders. It's lace, fitted with a slight fishtail shape and got a lovely neckline. Hooray! gakay - hope DP proposes to you soon!

elle - really glad to hear you're feeling more upbeat about everything. As you say, there is lots that can be done and it seems to be pretty common. When I was trying to lose weight a year ago I found the 5.2 diet great as it meant I wasn't on a diet the whole time! Good luck!

gakay what are you doing, you're getting us out of synch??!! Ha! I'm also on cd9 but haven't even started using OPKs this month yet - I tend to get my positive about cd16. Ovia is only predicting my fertile time to start this weekend. Hopefully I'll be peaking when I'm on hols which will be handy! Hope it's not too difficult seeing your friend tonight.

claire I've found it hard to cut down on alcohol - I really don't want TTC to affect my life too much as I know how much being pregnant and then having a baby will affect things! I try to be fairly normal with socialising for first 2 weeks of my cycle and then for the last 2 (ie when I could potentially be pregnant) I'm much more careful. And then I get really drunk when my period arrives....Smile

gakay · 13/07/2015 09:45

Happy Monday everyone!

Just got my peak on opk this morning! My cycle is getting shorter - only CD9 today. Am glad in a way as am doing a 24h shift this wednesday (when I thought I would be ov) and was worried we won't catch the egg...

Claire I know the mixed feeling. Am glad you could feel happy for your friend.

Am going to meet my friend who's back in town for holiday tmw evening. Am slightly dreading it. She's the one who was actually happy about my MCs last year. Hope she won't goes on and on complaining how all her fds except me are either pg or have DC. I might actually walk out if she does.

Hope everyone's had a lovely weekend.
I did a bit on wedding venue research. Looks like most places are available on our date Smile now just need dp to propose...

ellewalk · 13/07/2015 09:34

Morning all, thank you for your kind words of support. I have spent the weekend just trying to take it all in. I have been researching PCOS and it seems there are many things that can be done. I had no idea that it was as common as it is. So this is the first day of the rest of my life. I was already trying to lose weight and had started running, so have stepped that up a gear now. The GP said losing 10% of my body weight is the target to aim for and this should hopefully make me spontaneously start ovulating again. So that is just over a stone to lose but I aiming to lose 2 stone anyway. If that does not work then the GP will refer me for treatment and that seems to have a high success rate....so all is not lost, even if it feels like it in my head at the minute. DH has been great and is really supporting me, he is going to lose weight as well with me!

I hope you all had a good weekend xx

claire welcome, all the advice you have received on here is spot on. I have found this a great place to vent and ask questions and everyone is very supportive (something I have found invaluable!)

All the best to you all....lets have a BFP soon to cheer us all up! xx

ClaireHannahOwen · 13/07/2015 08:30

Thankyou Gakay - the cutting down on alcohol is something I probsbly need to take a bit more seriously and every 2 or 3 days is really good advice. Then I supoose you don't have that weird OTT over "the" week! X

ClaireHannahOwen · 12/07/2015 23:58

Thanks so much everyone! Just come back from a meal and found out my best friend is pregnant!! So happy for Her but slightly sad :-( Daunting x

gakay · 10/07/2015 12:05

bourbon enjoy your weekend in Barcelona! I love Barcelona - it's such a beautiful city. Hmmm, what to do to fill your time when you get back... are you having a leaving do? Do you need to do handover notes? I'm so good at procrastinating when I have work to do but don't know how to fill time when there's nothing pressing…

Hello Claire I agree with what soda has said. I'm sure you already doling all the important things like folic acid and cutting down alcohol etc. And havimg regular intercourse. Think the most consistent advice I've received is DTD every 2 to 3 days but I always worry about missing the most important day. I'm going to try thr SMEP plan this cycle which requires more frequent DTD. I think in the first few cycles it may be better to do what feels right for you both and not go OTT cos you never know how long it may take so obsessing too early may not be helpful.

soda I hope you are right. 1 more week of work before holiday. Can't wait! But it also means having to clear a few things before I go on leave which is going to make next week stressful...

gakay · 10/07/2015 11:49

Elle I'm sorry about the diagnosis. That's really difficult news to take in. You are not selfish at all. Here is where you can vent freely. I don't want to trivialise it but want to remind you it is a common disorder with effective treatment and I've read many success stories here with women conceiving successfully and very quickly with treatment as well as success stories without treatment! I know it is extremely frustrating to have this complicating the picture but it's not without hope. I really don't know what to say but hope to let you know we are here to support you x Flowers

Sodasoda · 09/07/2015 22:16

Ah elle I'm so so sorry. I don't know what to say really. I hope you're as ok as you can be and your DH is being supportive. Remember there's loads that can be done though so please try not to lose hope Flowers xx

ellewalk · 09/07/2015 22:04

So results in PCOS diagnosed. Not ovulating. Told to lose weight already on that when we decided ttc. GP said 6 months if not pregnant with me trying to lose weight she will refer me to gyno for treatment to make me ovulate. Gutted just doesn't cover it. Why did there need to be a problem??? Sorry for the selfish post just can't think about anything else right now SadSadSad

Sodasoda · 09/07/2015 20:56

gakay glad your appointment went as well as it could and that they'll support you in IVF. That must be a relief if it comes to it. Hopefully you won't need it. I've decided, synched as we are (!) that we're both going to get our BFPs after our holidays later this month. So that's that!

bourbon great to hear from you. Enjoy the hen weekend!

Hope everyone else has fun things planned. I'm going wedding dress shopping with my mum - can't wait!

Sodasoda · 09/07/2015 20:52

Hi claire - welcome. Hopefully you'll find some support and words of wisdom here! And congratulations on the wedding!

We're all at different stages of our trying to conceive (TTC - you'll learn!) journey. I'm on month 4 now. I think it can take different times for people's cycles to go back to normal after coming off pill. I'd been on for over 10 years but my cycle went back to normal first month. Hasn't made any difference in me getting pregnant straight away though!

If we all had the magic advice to get pregnant and hurry the process along then we probably wouldn't be on this forum Grin

If you are using ovulation sticks and having sex around that time then you're doing what you can really. A lot of us use Ovia which is an app - you input any symptoms and it helps predict when you might be fertile. That can help too although it does get a little all-consuming. And try not to go too mad and don't lose heart if it doesn't happen straight away! Although that one is probably easier said than done! And good luck! Hope that helps xx

ClaireHannahOwen · 08/07/2015 13:38

Haha!! Clearly didn't "come over the pill" but "came off it" oops!! X

ClaireHannahOwen · 08/07/2015 13:37

Hi everyone!

Very new to Mumsnet and trying to conceive so stay with me - not sure I know all the acronyms yet?! I got married in June and came over the pill immediately - I think I ovulated for the first time last weekend (the ovulation test key came back positive, very hot and very low energy). I've read lots of conflicting articles online and feel totally lost as to what my husband and I should be doing and when?! I really don't want it to be a long drawn out process but know I have to be patient and try and get a handle on timings over the month! Any tips, advice would be really appreciated :-) Thank you xx
