The Rules of Bumsnet

You can shag, you can syringe, you can temp, you can OPK; as long as your aim is a BFP!

We're cliquey so fuck off. LPB will be annihilated.

Sammy the GP will be able to go on choose and book and see when the next appointment is at different clinics, and then send a referral letter to say what needs doing in the appointment. It could be worth a try.

eskimo sorry it was awful for you but so pleased your tubes looked good!!

chopsface · 01/05/2015 21:13

Sorry Eskimo if it sounded like I was belittling your experience. It wasn't meant to be taken like that :-(

eskimoflo · 01/05/2015 21:10

Enjoy the weekend. x

Visitors have been here for a day. Only another 4 to go.

DizzyMerry · 01/05/2015 20:59

I'm the same eskimo and I initially would fall asleep with thermometer in my mouth but it becomes a habit after a few days. It's very insightful.

eskimoflo · 01/05/2015 20:59

Thank you Boris Have your visitors arrived yet? x

eskimoflo · 01/05/2015 20:56

Dizzy Glad that ovulation has been confirmed for you. I keep meaning to start temping, but I'm absolutely rubbish first thing in a morning and don't think I could function!

Rainy Thanks for the advice. I do need to start taking my EPO regularly again. Smile

DizzyMerry · 01/05/2015 20:53

Ditto eskimo it was the trying to push further up that caused the awful pain. Very hard to relax in such a situation but even then no amount of relaxing would have helped. Mine was a few years ago when ttc DD but it's something I would never want to have repeated. No updates here apart from ov being confirmed by temps and now 6dpo.

Hairstylisttoboris · 01/05/2015 20:53

Oh eskimo hope you can relax abit now. Sounds like an ordeal. At least all these tests help us to head in the right direction. June isnt to far away. Cake and Flowers for you.

eskimoflo · 01/05/2015 20:50

chops It wasn't the inserting things that was the problem. It was the fact that she couldn't find my ovary and therefore had to push up higher and to the side, and it was excruciating. It was very hard to 'relax' after that and that's why I clung on to the speculum. Then there was a problem with the cervix, as that was also high, and the whole experience was not only painful, but also triggered a few emotions when I found out that I hadn't actually ovulated, despite the positive OPK on Wednesday. I know everyone is different, but it really wasn't just a matter of relaxing. The previous dildocam in April and smear tests I've had in the past have been fine. This one was, to use sparkly's words: Hell on earth Sad

Rainy34 · 01/05/2015 20:49

Eskimo well done for putting up with the pain and discomfort , Good to hear your tubes are looking good, you have to do what you feel is right for you, I have been off the pill for over a year and i think my cycles are going back to a normal 28 day, with the help of evening primrose oil, but I'm still spotting, you may start ovulating on your own in a few months but if you can get the help with Clomid and it helps then maybe its the best option,

DizzyMerry · 01/05/2015 20:46

Eskimo mine was a few years ago when we were ttc DD but it's certainly not something I wish to have repeated! My endo was pretty bad and according to my consultant my experience only reflected this. Only update here is I've started to temp and ov has been confirmed so that's a relief at least.

chopsface · 01/05/2015 20:39

No dh didn't come in with me for my hsg either, presumably because of x ray. My hsg really wasn't too bad. I knew I just had to relax my lower half whilst they were inserting things and that would prevent discomfort. I just had trouble with spotting after. I spotted every day from hsg to af and my lp was shortened to 8 or 0 days from the normal 14! We didn't ttc due to the spotting etc and it was a glorious break! Lol

eskimoflo · 01/05/2015 20:29

Oh Dizzy Thank you. When did you go for yours? How are you lovely? I'm sorry if I've missed any of your updates. xx xx

DizzyMerry · 01/05/2015 20:21

Eskimo my hsg was horrendous and it couldn't even be completed due to the amount of pain and they also could get any further in so you've done well with going through it despite the pain. I hope you get some answers and a plan of action in June and as Sparkly says it's not far away at all. Things are moving in the right direction. DH couldn't come in with me either so maybe the rules are different for each procedure.

Sparkly123 · 01/05/2015 20:07

Yep, all steps forward Eskimo !! Grin

eskimoflo · 01/05/2015 20:04

Thank you Sparkly You're right. June isn't far away and I will see what they say. In the meantime, DH and I will hopefully be DTD a lot more now that HyCoSy is over with. Smile

Sparkly123 · 01/05/2015 19:58

Eskimo lovely! What a day for you! I absolutely sympathise as my HSG was hell on earth. Dragon so glad you had dh with you! Maybe that's different with the fancy one Sammy.. I wasn't allowed dh because HSG was x ray area but maybe because your one is ultrasound it would be allowed? So glad to hear tubes are fine, I mean, beautiful! but yes frustrating about OV.. Well, we are in may now! So June ain't far and hopefully that will be when you get lots more info and help! Well done on getting through it all today and not giving up during all the pain. Hope you are all cosy and rest well tonight.. Much needed! Sending Flowers to you

eskimoflo · 01/05/2015 19:54

Spinning Have everything crossed for you that it was just a bad sample. I'm not sure what the next step will be, but I am hoping that, if I haven't had a period by June, they might suggest clomid? I am wary though, that I haven't really given my body a chance to get back on track on it's own. Came off the pill in November, went to GP in January and was given pills to induce period and then the same in April, so haven't had a long stretch of time where I just 'leave it and see.' Part of me wants to do that, and not interfere (because I have a feeling that's what has got me into this mess!) and part of me thinks 'Screw it. I'm not getting any younger. Give me the drugs and make me ovulate...' Just not sure what it for the best Hmm

spinningirl10 · 01/05/2015 19:46

Oh Eskimo, that sounds bloody awful, thank goodness dh was with you to hand hold. Still no ovHmm but good news you have beautiful tubes. Do you know what the next step will be when you see the consultant in June?

eskimoflo · 01/05/2015 19:44

Forgot to add- I did ask about PCOS and she said that it wouldn't show up on the u/s anyway and that only a blood test could confirm it. So that's something that I will be asking about at my next consultation too. x

eskimoflo · 01/05/2015 19:38

Ok, so, to cut a long story short... the HyCoSy was bloody awful, but my tubes are fine. Grin

I don't want to put anyone off, but I don't think it will, because even if I had read that it was the worst pain imaginable to anyone ever, in the whole history of mankind (which it wasn't), I would have still gone through with it all, because we do, don't we? Grin

It was just very, very uncomfortable, plus I think that I had built myself up psychologically for it, in a huge way. The first thing she did was do another dildocam, because if I had ovulated, then she wouldn't have been able to do the procedure. She couldn't quite see one of my ovaries because it was high up and out the way, so she really had to push the thing up and round and it was just so painful, and then she confirmed that there were no dominant follicles again and that I hadn't ovulated, and at that point, because of the pain and the hope of ovulation had gone, I burst into tears Sad

Luckily DH was in with me and I clung to him and squeezed and the nurses were just so lovely. She then did the HyCoSy and again, it was really painful. I had to cough a lot of times, because she couldn't find my cervix and then it wouldn't open, so I coughed and coughed, which made DH cough in sympathy and once she was in, and the balloon was inflated, she tried to get the speculum out, but I had seized up and wouldn't let go! So it ended up being a bit comical. My tubes were absolutely fine. The nurse inserting the dye said that she didn't even have to pump it in, as they sucked it up on their own (!) and the one taking the pictures described them as beautiful (again !).

Afterwards, they advised us to go to the café for a cuppa for 30 minutes in case I felt faint, but straight away I was absolutely fine. I have been on the sofa all afternoon as I have felt completely drained of energy, but I haven't had any pain at all. I think it is just stale adrenaline and mixed emotions. On the one hand, I have 'beautiful' tubes, but on the other, I must be getting false LH surges after the positive OPK two days ago, but no evidence of ovulation at all. Confused I did suspect that though, and have to think positively. Onwards and upwards eh? Have blood tests in a couple of weeks for CD21 and then I think I will be back to see the consultant some time in June.

Thank you so much for all the messages of support for today; they really helped Flowers

spinningirl10 · 01/05/2015 19:30

Eskimo, I'm not sure motility can be improved on really. He's taking lots of vits and it's been 12 weeks between tests so we'll wait and see. I'm hoping maybe it was a bad sample and this time they'll be amazing clutching at straws
Sorry your doggies still poorly. Hope he picks up soon.
