Ok, so, to cut a long story short... the HyCoSy was bloody awful, but my tubes are fine.
I don't want to put anyone off, but I don't think it will, because even if I had read that it was the worst pain imaginable to anyone ever, in the whole history of mankind (which it wasn't), I would have still gone through with it all, because we do, don't we?
It was just very, very uncomfortable, plus I think that I had built myself up psychologically for it, in a huge way. The first thing she did was do another dildocam, because if I had ovulated, then she wouldn't have been able to do the procedure. She couldn't quite see one of my ovaries because it was high up and out the way, so she really had to push the thing up and round and it was just so painful, and then she confirmed that there were no dominant follicles again and that I hadn't ovulated, and at that point, because of the pain and the hope of ovulation had gone, I burst into tears
Luckily DH was in with me and I clung to him and squeezed and the nurses were just so lovely. She then did the HyCoSy and again, it was really painful. I had to cough a lot of times, because she couldn't find my cervix and then it wouldn't open, so I coughed and coughed, which made DH cough in sympathy and once she was in, and the balloon was inflated, she tried to get the speculum out, but I had seized up and wouldn't let go! So it ended up being a bit comical. My tubes were absolutely fine. The nurse inserting the dye said that she didn't even have to pump it in, as they sucked it up on their own (!) and the one taking the pictures described them as beautiful (again !).
Afterwards, they advised us to go to the café for a cuppa for 30 minutes in case I felt faint, but straight away I was absolutely fine. I have been on the sofa all afternoon as I have felt completely drained of energy, but I haven't had any pain at all. I think it is just stale adrenaline and mixed emotions. On the one hand, I have 'beautiful' tubes, but on the other, I must be getting false LH surges after the positive OPK two days ago, but no evidence of ovulation at all.
I did suspect that though, and have to think positively. Onwards and upwards eh? Have blood tests in a couple of weeks for CD21 and then I think I will be back to see the consultant some time in June.
Thank you so much for all the messages of support for today; they really helped
