Hi everyone - there seems to be loads of us who have just started using the CBFM, so I thought I'd start a new thread on the topic so we can share tips and experiences - and hopefully BFPs!

This is my 1st month of using it - so far have had HIGH readings from CD11...still waiting patiently for my PEAK reading...

How's everyone else getting on with it?!?

I reckon it must be the clomid then that's affecting the reading.
I had a bit of a shock yesterday!!!

I'm going to use it this month and probably next (although I am tempted to give myself a month off totally) and then it's IUI in the new year so the monitor will be no use to me then either.

I do like the fact that you can have a month or two break from it and still use it.
Holiday or work in USA Artoo?

Janus · 06/11/2006 19:56

Mine is in the post! Have decided now to start mine in the new year but I will be watching this thread with eager anticipation! Very best of luck to you girls and I will probably be asking you all sorts of questions when I get started1

Artoo · 06/11/2006 19:43

coggy - are you on clomid this month? Clomid can give an extended HIGH reading on the CBFM before the PEAK arrives.

Without clomid I usually get 3 HIGHs before my PEAK. With clomid I was getting a LOT more (5, 6 or 7 days).

Might explain it anyway

I'm not using my CBFM this month as I was in the USA when AF arrived, and couldn't set it for a good time whilst over there. I'll be back on it again next month whilst I wait for my first IVF cycle (where it will be no help whatsoever!).

Good luck to all the monitor users this month!

Hugs,
Artoo.

Hi city angel - the 1st month it asks you to test for 20 days so I dont think it will miss any important days. And your DH is right, it will adjust its readings according your own levels of hormones...hence testing on fewer days. Reckon if you did additional tests on top of the CBFM it would break the bank! But I guess it would be worth doing some now as you have a couple of weeks before you start using the CBFM...?

cityangel · 06/11/2006 12:50

Thank you for your timing advice that's very helpful

Gosh it sounds complicated. Dh read it and said it learns your cycle?! What if it misses the key days would it be worth doing OV tests in between or does that defeat the object (and break the bank)?

I can't wait to start using mine.

KitKat30 · 06/11/2006 08:30

Oh crikey?!? Perhaps you are just a super fertile bunny this month Coggy!

Me on the other hand - yet another HIGH today!! Aarrrggghh!!! Starting to wonder whether I'm doing it wrong...

OP posts:
coggy · 06/11/2006 07:18

I am MIGHTILY confused now!!!!!

Last month:
CD6.....LOW......first wee test asked for
CD14.....HIGH
CD15.....HIGH
CD16.....PEAK
CD17.....PEAK
.....................nice and simple........but....

This month
CD9.....today.....first wee test asked for.....HIGH!!!!!!

How?
I usually OV around CD17/18.
We are going to be exhausted by then!!!!!

coggy · 05/11/2006 18:47

You have to start it at a time that will be suitable every day eg. weekdays and weekends.
It gives a 6 hour window tho so not too bad.

I set mine at 8:30 so that I can test anytime three hours before or after...........5:30am (let's hope I NEVER have to get up that early) to 11:30 (that's more like it!!! )
HTH.

cityangel · 05/11/2006 17:25

Hi all I have bought one too but need to wait until CD 1 to use it which is in a couple of weeks. What time of day do people use it? I am hoping it will help me make sense of my cycle. At the moment i am doing daily OV tests instead.

coggy · 05/11/2006 15:52

No not yet...CD8 today and I'm hoping it won't ask me until CD10...although I have a feeling that it will tomorrow.
I'm sure I read somewhere that it would start sometime from CD5 to CD9....so we shall see in the morning!

I'm not sure when it would be happy to stop.
I guess after it has had the two PEAK days and then one LOW.....in which case I should just about get away with ten sticks!!

The instructions say that some people have more than 5 days of HIGH so don't worry Kitkat....just keep on weeing!!!

KitKat30 · 05/11/2006 11:21

Hi Coggy and welcome Dipstick

Grrr still only getting HIGH readings! Really thought I might get a PEAK today (my CD16 but CD15 on the CBFM)...starting to worry that I might have predicted my ov days wrong, and that I will have a much shorter LP than I originally thought. Here's hoping it comes tomorrow...

So Coggy, has it asked you to start testing yet? Do you think you'll get through all 20 sticks again?!?

coggy · 04/11/2006 16:39

I'm on CD7 of my second month using the CBFM.
I OV late and have a very short luteal phase which makes getting pg tricky.

Last month my PEAK days were CD16 and 17 so earlier than I usually show on normal OV tests.
We'll see this month!!!!

Good idea to start this thread KitKat and welcome to MN Dipstick.

Dipstick · 04/11/2006 14:14

Hi I'm patiently waiting for AF to arrive so that I can start to use my CBFM. Had a m/c a couple of weeks ago so not sure how long it's going to be...

I'm a newbie, been a bit of a lurker these past few weeks and trying to pluck up courage to join the ttc after miscarriage thread.

Good look to everyone using the CBFM... let's hope it's worth the expense!
