Lulu, does your DH have a beard? Grin I didn't imagine him to have a beard, I have imagined what you all look like

DS has had tummy time from being very little- 3 or 4 weeks I think. I put a rolled up hand towel under his chest and he seemed to like it. He has lying on his back time too and we put a muslin over his bits because he wees in the air. But he loves tummy time as well.
He rolled over a couple of weeks ago but was not sure how he had done it and could not make himself and it only happened occasionally. But he can make himself do it now after a few trys. He is very pleased with himself. You can see him trying. I think he has just about learned how .
And he makes lots of noises.
Here he is with DH before- DH was snoozing on the sofa.

Just went on a mad dash checking all my cream incase they were out of date! Grin They're not. Must be a few different ones.

I've found the little tube I've got of metanium but it's white - maybe there's a couple of different ones? I'll let you know if it works Smile he had a nice time lying on a towel on his play mat until he did a wee then he got all upset.

Ducky23 · 27/04/2015 19:34

Well obvs not straight away but as soon as you think they will be able to lift their head?

OP posts:
Ducky23 · 27/04/2015 19:34

I think tummy time is ok straight away isn't it? With a rolled up towel or blanket under his arms. With ds I just lay down and put him on my tummy which he liked Grin he has a very strong neck now so I guess it works too Wink

Ducky23 · 27/04/2015 19:32

Lulu, ds hates tummy time! So I couldn't do that one Shock

Yes that's the one lil! Although it's the same colour as his poop! I get the puppy pads and put him in the middle of a couple then just drape a muslin over his bits, although he usually wiggles out of it and wees everywhere Blush he's had a few outfit changes today!

X post with tori and lulu! Thanks
For the advice Smile when can babies start having tummy time? DS had quite a strong neck already...

lillamyy1 · 27/04/2015 19:22

Tori I've fed him in the rugby ball hold a bit and also with him sitting on my knee facing me Smile it seems to change each time which position works best.
Ducky do you mean the one beginning with M works better? Is it metanium?? I've got a little tube of it I think.
Uh oh -!think we've had another accident Shock

LuluJakey1 · 27/04/2015 19:21

My friend told me to try just a thin layer of zinc and castor oil cream. It's old fashioned but good. You can get the cream and wipes. I just got them at a local chemist. They definitely helped. I keep them in the house now for if DS gets a sore bum. And leave a nappy off if I can- he likes that when he has tummy time, and it means he can't pee in the air as well. Grin

Lil how strange, ds has the same thing today Confused he's had nappy rash on and off for a while, I was using wipes then drying with kitchen roll then putting on plenty of sudocream but I recently switched to the one beginning with m (can't remember the name!) because it's got redder. It helped when he had plenty of nappy off time..... But it can get messy Blush

I've tried a few different positions today and propped him and my arm up with cushions etc. found it helps loads if I lean back a bit and support him by crossing my legs.
Poor little thing has got a really really red bottom Sad I don't know if it's nappy rash or just really sore but it looks very sore Sad
I've been using extra sensitive wipes but probably should have stuck to water and cotton wool. I've been using sudocrem on him since yesterday but it looks even redder today. Any advice?

Lil I was given a pessary around 9am, contractions started around 12 midday and were 3 mins apart Confused it was v painful especially in my back, they decided they couldn't give me another pessary due to the frequency and intensity of the contractions, I was given paracetamol Hmm then taken to labor ward the next morning where I had my waters broke (used g&a for that) and everything stopped Blush then I was given an epi and put on the drip but the Epi didn't work after a really short time Hmm so used g&a, they put some anesthetic in when they did the episiotomy but that wore off when they were stitching Shock

Glad you had a good nights sleep, I think people are put under a huge amount of pressure to ebf, it does have benefits but it's also important baby doesn't have a zombie for a mother Grin let's hope the mn bf squad don't see that!

That's a good point Siarie - if I'd had a better midwife she'd have probably realised and done the same for me.
As it was, because I hadn't known about any of the complications so wanted to wait for him to make an appearance on his own and so he was 8 days past due date. Poor little mite, his skin was so dry and he had ling finger nails. And no wonder he was so hungry, being such a big chap. Still feel bad that I wasn't making enough milk for him and I didn't realised how dehydrated he was Sad He lost a lot of weight and he's slowly putting it back on but not as quickly as he should be. Sad
Ducky, did you have extra painful contractions as well from the start? Did they do anything to stop them? How long was your labour?I'm very impressed you delivered vaginally!! What pain relief did you have?
Cupcake, when you have that much waters it's called polyhydramnios. I'm so Angry no one picked up on it.

We actually managed to have a decent night's sleep last night, for the first time since DS was born! He was feeding non stop yesterday (my milk's come in for definite now - my boobs were leaking all over the place this morning Blush But as he feds for at least 45 mins at a time I decide I just couldn't bf throughout the night as i'd lose so much more sleep so we took turns to feed him a bottle of formula and we didn't get up until 11:30!!! Feel sooo refreshed, and I feel happy with the choice to mix feed because it's more important for DS to have a happy, energetic mum than all breastmilk diet Smile
My shoulders and neck are in agony from bfing yesterday and supporting his weight. I need a massage!!

Siarie · 27/04/2015 11:31

lil sounds like we had very similar labour experiences. I also had induction, polyhydramnios (which is why your contractions were so painful at the start by the way), I also wasn't allowed any proper pain relief they thought I was ring dramatic. I was actually relieved in the end when I just went for an EMCS as at least I wouldn't have to experience the pain like that again.

Luckily they noticed I was big and got my DD out at 37 weeks as she was 8lb 4oz and was predicted to be 10lbs based on my growth scan. Had she stayed until over her due date I expect she would have been around the same size.

Cupcake92 · 27/04/2015 07:50

Oh god and yes as for his size!!! Omg! How did he get that big lol Grin could u maybe have had gestational diabetes?

Cupcake92 · 27/04/2015 07:49

Holy crap Lill!! Shock sounds awful!
But sounds so so scarily like mine! Confused what was the thing called when u had so much waters?? What did that mean?because I was scanned with dS at 36 weeks they told me I hardly had any waters but when they burst my waters I had that much it soaked completly through the bed and all over the floor I had to get off and they had to strip the whole bed and Matress lmao!
This is why I'm terrified incase I have to have a repeat csection this time. I can't do that. I don't even remember DS being born! And after I was shaking constantly from all the drugs I couldn't rele hold him.
I so don't want a csection again :(
Gosh I hope ur recovering well now Lill Flowers

LuluJakey1 · 27/04/2015 07:28

Oh Lill! You have been through it. It sounds scarey. You must feel traumatised. And he was huge. But I have to say your photo of him is so sweet. He's very beautiful.

How are you doing now? Flowers Flowers for being so brave.

Ducky23 · 27/04/2015 07:19

Oh lil! You poor thing Sad your story sounds similar to mine, I had the pessary and was over contracting but couldn't have anything then it stopped and I had to have my waters broke and baby was back to back Confused I never even thought of an Epi for waters breaking cus that was horrendous Confused wowwww over 10lb too!! How long were you in hosp for? How have you found the recovery?
