Lil Me and Ducky have the Tommee Tippee Perfect Prep Machine. So literally it takes us maybe a minute to make a bottle drink ready temp? Possible two minutes.

I don't know if it's worth it for you if you aren't FF that often but I find it very simple to use and I would be a bit lost without it to be honest.

Ducky23 · 07/05/2015 12:57

Yay for the first smiles Grin

And tori, I think they say things like that just so your prepared for every thing that could happen. Like with me they told me to have my hospital bags packed by 26 weeks and have them ready at every appointment and there was loads as if there was any problem they would send me straight for a c section Shock turns out ds was quite happy where he was!

My waters with dd went just before she was born, with ds they broke them for me. just try not to slip

Lil, tbh if ds isn't drinking much it worked out for us atthe start to buy the ready made stuff as you can store it for 48 hours and you can get the small or large cartons for £2 something.

When he started drinking more, I would make as I go along and try and calm him with a dummy.

For the night I would make in advance, cool it quickly and store it in the fridge, it's ok in there for 48 hours. Smile

Alternatively you can get the perfect prep? saves so much time and faffing about! Grin

Can those of you who ff advise me? I'm ffing at night because DS drinks quicker from a bottle (each bf takes him nearly an hour because he keeps falling asleep!) and we've been buying those 200ml bottles of ready made formula because it's quick and easy and we store whatever's left in the fridge for the next feed. I'd rather make up the formula from the powder because it's much cheaper but I find it quite time consuming because you've got to boil the kettle and then wait for the water to cool a bit but you can't do it in advance if the feed because you have to use it pretty much straight away Hmm But if you wait for baby to be hungry then he's crying while you make it up, but if you do it in advance then he might not want it when it's ready and you can't save it!! Confused What do you guys do? Is there a faster way of making up formula from the powder?

Hurraaah for Lulu's DH! Excellent news! Lulu, I have to say I'd take the full year too in your situation. My maternity allowance finishes in October when DS will only be 6 months and I'm gutted I won't have longer with him.
Glad DS has slept better Ducky.
Tori, that sounds like what both Siairie and I had - big baby and polyhydramnios. It's good they've spotted it - if it had been spotted with me I could have had a much less stressful and risky delivery.
Cupcake I hope not too much work has piled up for you. How are you feeling now? Has the ms passed? I'm so glad your mw appointment went well and very excited about your gender scan!! Grin I think it's a girl Smile
DS kept us awake quite a bit last night and we were so tired we were really tetchy with each other but we're alright now. DP had today and tomorrow off so we're spending some quality family time together. DS has been very smiley this morning Smile he smiled at me for the first time last week when he was only 2 weeks old Smile

We're renting at the moment, although at some point I think we will buy to let. DH is a contractor so we move where the contracts are and don't want to be tied down too long ideally. Though we have committed to a years tenancy this time.

We are just moving because I wanted to move to somewhere more family friendly, green and with three bedrooms and a garden. So we're off to Richmond, which will be very different to the city living apartment we are in at the moment.

Well done your your DH Lulu, great news Smile

Ducky23 · 07/05/2015 08:13

I have no idea siarie! Maybe take a bouncy chair with you or something so you can sit dd in it to keep her entertained for a few minutes? It must be difficult moving with a baby! I hated moving but loved unpacking!

Hope work isn't too stressful cupcake!

How soon was DH thinking of number 2 lulu? Youl have to make sure that the time is right so you can hVe more time off work! Although I have no idea how everything works with that. Would you just get a 2nd maternity leave straight away?

Well ds was much better last night! It most be thAt he got used to being held to sleep! He woke up at midnight and was whining so I gave him his dummy and he fell back to sleep, then he was up at 3 for his food then woke up at 4 whining which turned to crying (that's the point I usually spring out of bed and pick him up) but after a minute when he realised I wasn't getting up he just fell asleep again until 7.30.Grin

Siarie I moved when DS was 10months so quite a bit older than ur DD is now but we just unpacked his toys 1st and sat him to play with them it was dry difficult I'm not going to lie but he was an active baby then. I'd imagine smaller babies it'd be less difficult as they can't move very far lol!
We made sure the kitchen and DS's bedroom was unpacked 1st as all his essentials were in those places.

Oo Lulu ur home sounds like it's going to be amazing! :) I love the glass door idea, will bring in lots of light in the summer.
I have patio doors in my lounge leading into the garden, it's nice because I've been opening them when it's been warm and DS can just go in and out the garden to play whilst I watch inside :)

I've got work today, haven't been since last Monday Grin because I had that awful headache last week so had some time off then Monday I was due back it was closed due to bank holiday :) but I rele Cba as I know my work is going to be piled high due to me not being there Confused I had 289 documents to process then I managed to get it down to 60 so went for a break for 10mins and came back to 211 documents! I'd been sent more whilst I'd been on a break. So can't imagine what I've got to get through Grin

LuluJakey1 · 06/05/2015 22:30

Sairie, have you sold your house? Where are you moving to? I think moving is exciting.

We have been thinking about it but our house is paid off and in a great place so we are going to have some work done on the extension to remove an internal glass wall into the sun room bit and turn the whole space into one huge sitting room with a wall of ceiling to floor glass doors that open onto the patio and garden. The sitting room will be 33ft by 14ft then and we are going to have a cosy area where the fireplace, sofas and telly are and another area with new sofas and a more modern, lazy feel too it with the garden around it and all the glass. Thinking of an upstairs extension too, over the garage to get two more bedrooms and another bathroom but I don't think I could stand the mess and noise of builders for two months.

Hope everyone gets some sleep tonight.

LuluJakey1 · 06/05/2015 22:17

I am going to have a big think over the next few days.

DH tells me he deserves a celebratory DTD but is too tired so I owe him. I don't think it quite works like that DH. Grin

Anyway, he says thank you for the congratulations. His view is we should have another baby asap and get it all done with at once. I don't think that is happening either.

Siarie · 06/05/2015 22:11

We're moving next weekend so not this Sunday but next. The removal company are doing all the packing on the Saturday, me and DD are going to go pickup the keys on the Friday before.

I haven't done much prep, any tips for moving with a baby? I think it shouldn't be too bad, we can fit the cats in and DD with our new car so hopefully we will only have to make one trip.

Ducky23 · 06/05/2015 22:07

Yayyy well done mr lulu! GrinGrinGrinGrin Great news.

Id agree with cupcake, take the whole year if you can. You could always keep working at your career when you return but you won't get this time back with ds Smile

Ah well don't lulu's DH! :) that's great news Lulu. If I were u I'd take the year off, honestly, that 1st year is so important and they learn so much and have so many milestones. I'd take the year :)

Cupcake, I brush DS's hair with a little soft baby brush and he loves it. It is quite thick I think for a little baby.

LuluJakey1 · 06/05/2015 21:20

He got it Smile
He is delighted. Am very proud of him. We have had a drink to celebrate. He is in the bath now, exhausted.
I could take a whole year of maternity leave . Am thinking seriously, but it has made me miss my career now. I know I couldbe a Headteacher and taking this time out will affect me but I know I won't get the time back with DS ever. Decisions, decisions!

Cupcake92 · 06/05/2015 20:51

I do hope he gets it Lulu :) fingers crossed for him. And yes I do feel a lot more relaxed now and can look forward to my scan next week :)

Aww bless ur poor DS Ducky! Hope he starts to sleep soon too. He'll soon get there :)

My DS is still awake Hmm I'm very ready for bed and hoping he falls asleep soon! Gelled his hair today and made it spikey and he loved it Grin he looked so grown up tho! Can't believe he's no longer a baby, he's turned into such a proper little boy :)

Ducky23 · 06/05/2015 18:52

Glad everything went well cupcake! And hope you got answers to all your questions

OP posts:
Ducky23 · 06/05/2015 18:51

Fingers crossed lulu! Really hopes he gets it!

Spoke to a nurse at his group today, she thinks it's as he's used to being held to sleep so he's waking and won't self settle.

His teeth are really playing up aswell, think one is about to cut as he was chewing a wipe earlier and it has a spot of blood on. Have gave him some dentinox so hopefully that will work. If he's still bad will try calpol before bed. Poor little thing!

OP posts:
LuluJakey1 · 06/05/2015 18:43

That's great Cupcake. You must feel more relaxed about it now. All good news.

Tori, what is the thing you have been diagnosed with? I have not heard of it. At this point I think they would have spitted anything big on a scan so I would try not to worry. Easy said I know.

Sairie and Duckey, lack of sleep is the hardest thing I think. Duckey, could you put him in a rocker seat when he is dozy and keep rocking it with your foot while you are relaxing at least- he might go over then.

LuluJakey1 · 06/05/2015 18:39

DH is home but he does not know the outcome. He was last to be interviewed and they are making the decision now. I have had a run down on every activity and when I say sounds like it went well, he tells me it didn't. Just have to wait for the phone call to either offer him the job or tell him he didn't get it. On tenterhooks- whatever they are!

Cupcake92 · 06/05/2015 15:12

Hope u n DD are doing well Siarie! How's moving going? How long is it till u move now?

Cupcake92 · 06/05/2015 15:12

Good luck to ur DH Lulu!!

And Tori don't worry, I'm sure all will be okay, just have a lot of water come out :) it'll be fine tho. Take it easy till baby is born.

Midwife appt went rele well :) heard baby's heartbeat and he/she was a real wiggler!!! :) :) midwife said I've got such an active baby which is great! My bloods came back amazing my iron is sky high and everything looked great :) I don't see her again till I'm 24 weeks but I have my gender scan next week then 4 weeks later my 20 week scan so still stuff In between :)

Ducky23 · 06/05/2015 12:05

Oh tori, how worrying for you. Is the p thing (no idea of spelling) the one siarie had? With too much waters? Could they not offer you induction?

Well, I have been reading, apparently this sleep thing can just happen, or sometimes it can be caused by baby getting used to being held to sleep, so when they wake in the night they can't self settle so get upset. I must admit, I think I do hold ds to sleep most times Confused so today we have tried him self settling, morning was okish, I held him until he was drowsy then put him down and he went to sleep. His afternoon nap has been a nightmare Confused he was getting tired so I put him down and he was just screaming and reaching for me, so I had to pick him up as he was getting so upset, he drifted off and I put him down but the second he went down his eyes were wide open again. Third time I let him just drift off and put him down when his eyes closed and he's now asleep. This is going to be difficult!

Off to ds group in a bit when he wakes.
