I don't think it was a febrile convulsion, she was totally alert the whole time. Doctor just said a fever and to bring her back if she got dehydrated but she was fine!

lillamyy1 · 10/05/2015 13:12

Poor DD Bears! I'm glad she's better. I dread something like that happening to DS - I'm such a worrier and would probably totally panic in a situation like that!
I hope my DS's poorly tum is a phase. Maybe it's mild colic... I had it really badly when I was a baby and screamed for hours every evening but this isn't nearly that bad. He started doing it a bit earlier, so Ive put him on a cushion over my knee and he seems to feel better for it. The pressure in his tummy must help.
Oh Ducky, poor DS! You really do have bad luck Flowers I hope as the weather gets better all these nasty bugs go away. What was wrong with your dog?
Tori, I didn't know how bad your SPD was. I really feel for you, it's horrid Flowers
Cupcake, I forgot to say before how much I love the names you've chosen for your new DC! Oscar was on my shortlist too Grin

Oh bears! How scary! Do they know what it was?

We are just back from a week away visiting family. The first few nights we stayed in a hotel, and about 3am DD woke up to get into our bed and she was shaking like a leaf. I thought she'd had a nightmare but after 20 minutes and lots of cuddles she was still shaking. Phoned 101, who sent us to A & E, she had a temperature of over 40! They kept us in for 4 hours, DS was delighted to have so many people to play with for his 5 am feed!

Went back to the hotel with extra strong calpol once her temp was back down and by 3 pm she was fully recovered and asking to go to the park! Very scary though!

Bearsinmotion · 10/05/2015 10:04

Second what everyone else says about the SPD cupcake, the sooner you get a referral the better!

Sorry to hear about the BF issues lil. DS is a very efficient feeder - when he was born it was very painful to feed him as he sucked so hard, now I'm used to it it is much easier - he feeds for 10 minutes and then just goes to sleep. I was worried at first he wasn't getting enough but he has gained plenty of weight! I think people who have had babies like him forget how soul destroying it can be feeding for hours at night and baby still being hungry!

Also, about him crying and writhing, DS did this from about 2 to 6 weeks and he never had formula! Still happens occasionally now but much less so hopefully it is just a phase for you too.

Ducky23 · 10/05/2015 08:36

Oh tori that sounds like me but I couldn't even walk that far. I remember at around 35 weeks I was walking the dogs and I actually stood there and cried because I was in so much pain Blush I went home and slept until the next day! obviously I got up 146437744 times to go to the toilet and change position but it really is awful isn't it!

Oh poor ds cupcake Confused yes give your midwife a call? She can maybe sort something out sooner.

Hope you had a better night last night then lil Smile

Well, ds has a cold (AGAIN!), one of the ladies at the post natal group very kindly brought her baby in with a stinking cold so he's obvs caught that Hmm it sucks because he had bronch so early, every cold he gets now goes straight to his chest and he has to be watched to make sure he doesn't get anything worse Sad

It is actually one thing after another in this house, if it's not ds it's the dog, if it's not the dog it's me Hmm

Cupcake, I think you should go to your doc about the SPD, don't wait until your mw appt. - the sooner you can go to a physio the better. I had pain in the front in my public bone and round my leg joints, is that where you've got it?
Sleeping with a pillow between my legs really helped. Also, when you have to stand up, sit down, roll over in bed etc the physio advised to engage your pelvic floor and lower abdominal muscles (and glutes I think) because it decreases the movement in your pelvis. I really hope it doesn't get too bad for youFlowers
Well I aimed to bf and top up with a ff lady night but DS fell asleep during each bf so he only had one bottle of formula. He doesn't seem to be bfing for as long as he did before during the night... Touch wood!

Cupcake92 · 10/05/2015 07:46

DS had just sat down to have his breakfast took a gulp from his milk and threw up everywhere lol poor DS, he's quite warm to the touch as well. Calpol it is today! And sofa day! Bless him :(

Cupcake92 · 10/05/2015 07:08

Ducky I don't see my midwife till 24 weeks now, but I will mention it to her then. I had this with DS but it didn't start till right at the end. They click as well when I move Confused I did stick a pillow between my legs last night which kinda helped a bit. I didn't have to roll over so much.

DS was also up most of the night again :( he fell asleep at 10am and woke at 12am! Then finally went to sleep at 3am!
I rele hope he starts sleeping better soon :( he's still asleep now which is nice but being pregnant I can't stay in bed as my bladder is going to pop! Grin

Hope everyone is okay this morning :)

(DS has just woke up Hmm )

Ducky23 · 09/05/2015 22:08

Oh and cupcake, I was offered physio quite late, it may be more affective if done earlier

Ducky23 · 09/05/2015 22:07

X post with lil and siarie!

Siarie, it's so good you feel that way! I do too now, although mil made me doubt myself to start with!
she's an epic bitch anyway

Cupcake, speak to your mw, mine said she could refer me for physio. I didn't go as I heard it's not always affective, and it would of caused more pain to get there! But it could work for you!

Ducky23 · 09/05/2015 22:04

Lil it is an emotional and stressful time for you ATM. I think if anyone said boo to me when ds was that age I would cry! How do you plan on feeding tonight? Make sure you are happy with it and don't feel forced into doing anything!

Siarie, sounds like you had a hard time bf to start with too! I know when ds was in with jaundice it's v important to keep fluids up, so that point I didn't even get the option of bf, I wasn't planning too anyway.

Must be awful. I think so much pressure is put on people to ebf nowadays that it can drive people to the brink of insanity!!!

OP posts:
Cupcake92 · 09/05/2015 22:03

Siarie that's how I feel, if baby needs the food as baby is poorly ff isn't bad at all and just doing what's right for baby :)

Siarie · 09/05/2015 22:00

I should add that I don't care that she got lazy with the latch. I'm happy bottle feeding, much more happy than I was ebf the first few days until the jaundice

Cupcake92 · 09/05/2015 21:59

Omg Lill yes that's exactly what it's like Confused me and DS have walked to the library today, and then did the asda shop then I came home and tidied up and did washing. My pelvis hurts when I'm in bed as well, I can't seem to get comfy at night, it aches so much. Kind of like growing pains but slightly more achy is that makes sense ? Confused
What would I do if it could be spd?

Siarie · 09/05/2015 21:58

lil We had such similar pregnancies, I also did lots of house viewing pregnant walking lol! And paid for it the following days.

Just read the thread since too, I found all the breast feeding ladies who work for the council here were the same. Very restricted viewpoint, I don't think they realise when they talk to mothers. I think they are genuinely trying to help but sometimes BF isn't best for baby. One lady tried to get me to express into a cup rather than a bottle because the bottle would confuse DD. The problem was DD needed feeding, she was sleepy and jaundice so I was having to wake her a forcefully feed her via BF with FF mixed.

No chance of getting her to sip on a cup, of course the midwife would come in the next morning and totally contradict the BF advisor because baby getting fluids was high priority than developing a good latch.

In the end I think it did confuse DD, she got lazy with her latch and I expressed for a while slowly reducing it over time. This last week I've been exclusively FF to let my milk slowly go away now.

lillamyy1 · 09/05/2015 21:42

Ducky I know! Blush it is kind of my fault for what I said - I did take it the wrong way I think, but also felt I was being strongly encouraged to ebf which really doesn't work for me and made me stressed Hmm

lillamyy1 · 09/05/2015 21:21

Oh no Cupcake, is it around the bottom of your bump? Have you done a lot of walking or anything today? It sounds like when my SPD started... I'd walked a lot because I was viewing houses and my lower tummy started feeling really achey and like it was being stretched. Then the pain kind of migrated to my lower back and then my pelvis.

I hope it isn't the same as me and that it goes away for you!

Ducky23 · 09/05/2015 21:19

Woh! Just looked at the thread! That escalated fast!

Lil, just do what you feel is best, whether that is ff at night or bf. I know the stage your at is a difficult one. Your doing great.

That's okay Lill. Tho that woman seems very much up her own behind!

Think I'm having some sort of ligament pain tonight, my stomach aches and sort of pulling Confused I'm exhausted tonight as well I hope DS sleeps cuz I rele need sleep :(

Ducky23 · 09/05/2015 18:08

It's a pain to remember lil! I ended up just carrying it round in my dressing gown pocket all the time!
