Everyone- sorry im taking over this thread tonight I promise to shut my trap tomorrow!! Wink

Sparkly123 · 12/04/2015 22:49

Purds so you agree about shelling out the cash which will probably be supplied by the parents temporarily ok. So Tomor I will look into who is best in the area of Scotland I am. They won't laugh me out the door having only been 9 months?

purdiepie · 12/04/2015 22:49

Yes, my friend obviously hasn't tried suppositories. Different IVF clinics will implement different prog programs.

Sparkly123 · 12/04/2015 22:47

Oyster ha ha Grinyour dh

purdiepie · 12/04/2015 22:47

Sparkly, I know this clinic are primarily for your AI purposes, but they are blatantly disregarding your early miscarriages. I can't agree more strongly that you should pay for a review from a different fertility cons.

Sparkly123 · 12/04/2015 22:47

"Crinone" progesterone gel?

Hairstylisttoboris · 12/04/2015 22:46

Oh sparkly please don't wort how you come across. Be pushy if you need to. Xx

oyster I think my DH would be praying for exactly the same thing!! He had the radio commentary on for the game yesterday, the only thing more boring than watching it on TV is listening on the radio!

Sparkly123 · 12/04/2015 22:38

Purdie thanks for sending that! And for your lovely friends input. Please pass on my earlier message to her. Ok so basically the clinic are seeing us because we are doing AI due to the sex issues right? So technically they are doing nothing now other than providing the syringes. I hear what your friend is saying- what's the harm in the progesterone? But I'm thinking the response will be that they have to follow the guideline and can't prescribe to someone who is ovulating on their own sufficiently. I am going to write down a list now with dh of what to say to the nurse. I might also sneakily record my call weirdo incase I forget anything she says. Wish I could just get a grip and lay it on the line and not give two hoots what her perception of me is, but as I'm gonna be with this lot going forward I don't want to rock the boat too much. This clinic is solely for fertility testing. They offer no treatment, they refer me on - to Ninewells in Dundee which I hear has a really good rep in Uk?! Who knows. So I'm hoping they will do that soon. Dh suggested tonight even going private for a consultant overview and to get an answer about the spotting and possible progesterone. It would certainly be worth the £150 consult fee. And maybe a blood test fee. The HSG and scans are all done so there would be no fee involved there and at least that way I could feel comfortable knowing I will get time to go through my concern and get my answer. I dunno, maybe that's a silly idea. I just want taken seriously.
When I asked Gp about betas before she said they don't routinely do them?! Honestly! I love having our NHS but do you know how many times I've seen pretty much everyone in America getting betas as standard when you google TTC related issues. It's insane!

GlitteryLipgloss1 · 12/04/2015 22:25

Sparkly Thanks so sorry you are going through this again. It's so unfair. Please stay strong lovely x

purdiepie · 12/04/2015 22:24

Darling, I'm sorry I have been tactless in posting this on the forum when it should have been sent to you in private. Do forgive.

purdiepie · 12/04/2015 22:23

Sparkly, my friend sends her sympathies to you. She cannot understand why they are blocking your requests for progesterone investigations. She agrees with me: this is biochemical or failed implantation - effectively the same issue my friend has. She also agrees you should ask for a referral to a different fertility consultant: "I think she needs to see another doc or consultant. Just because her bloods are fine why would you not give progesterone support as a precaution? Why are they blocking this treatment?" If changing cons is not favourable to you, Sparkly, then start by demanding an appointment with the leading consultant in your case. Demand a review of all your treatment so far, including the two chemical pregnancies. Demand all your baseline tests be carried out again. Do not be fobbed off by this nurse.

My friend then goes on to ask: "Is it possible that the nurse is working around NHS funding for the couple's benefit? As in, if they get to, say, 6 months without a pregnancy then IUI is an option?"

I have copied and pasted the next bit of our convo:

FRIEND: 'I think she should demand an app with the consultant leading her treatment as it has been 8 cycles and by the sounds of things it is so light touch (no crinone which is such a standard thing) it is invisible.'...'I have found it impossible to get beta's btw hence why I discount it although I did get betas from my GP - she can try that instead of the clinic.'

ME: 'I don't understand your last post about the crinone and something being a 'light touch'?

FRIEND: 'What I'm saying is, what exactly is the clinic doing if the treatment they are offering is hardly anything?'

Oysterbabe · 12/04/2015 22:23

Just asked DP to make a wish as an eyelash fell out. He asked me if I knew what he'd wished for so I said that we'd have a baby. That Southampton would finish above Liverpool was the correct answer Hmm

Sparkly123 · 12/04/2015 22:20

Oh Night I'm so sorry AF has arrived and also for dh birthday dinner!!! What a shame. How you feeling now?? That's terrible . Must be some bug? On the positive.. You and I can officially skip off into the may BFP sunset together as cycle buddies. Every cloud eh... !
Thanks for the inside NHS info. The number of times I should have complained over the years is def double digits.. But I never did, mainly because I was worried of the treatment I would get after and didn't want to risk it. And without sounding like a wimp, I feel much the same about this!

chopsface · 12/04/2015 22:18

Eeek take it easy night you've lost a lot of fluids over the weekend. Rest up and drink water x

nightandthelight · 12/04/2015 22:15

Now not know!

nightandthelight · 12/04/2015 22:15

Oh no I am so sorry Sparkly Flowers Ok as an NHS manager I will tell you know that the best way forward is to make an informal complaint (that way they have to respond to it within 48 hours, formal complaints it's 30 working days). Complain your ass off and if the managers of the service are anything like the ones I work with (including me) they will suddenly get their asses into gear!

My AF arrived :( Also almost passed out in the restaurant during DH's birthday meal. Have informed work I won't be in tomorrow.

ThePug · 12/04/2015 22:01

Well then Sparkly if this is the specialist nurse with all the knowledge then stand your ground and be firm that you'd like some answers from her. I know very little about progesterone levels but from what you've said now is definitely the time for them to be repeating the tests. I hope Purdie's friend can give you some ideas on what to be doing next. Positive vibes will be winging their way north of the border to you tomorrow morning. Perhaps you could try picturing Trunchbull naked to give you the upper hand of confidence during the conversation?! You are so sweet to even think of asking how I am (all seems to be fine and I have my first appointment with the diabetes consultant and specialist nurses this Friday which I am looking forward to).

Melon Assembling a search party for your AF. Torches? check. Loud shouty voices? check? Sniffer dogs? We have plenty on hand but may leave them as a last resort!

Has anyone heard from eskimo for a few days?

Sparkly123 · 12/04/2015 21:59

Purds Well my gp typed it into her notes on screen. God knows about the fertility clinic. They have the report from the ward I was in, not sure but it may have said "suspected early mc" as that's what doctors said to us

purdiepie · 12/04/2015 21:57

Sparkly, my friend is asking: has your last miscarriage been recorded anywhere?

Purplecuddlykoala14 · 12/04/2015 21:55

sparkly Flowers.

Sparkly123 · 12/04/2015 21:47

Purdie your poor friend what a terrible time she's had having gone through IVF too. I hope so much she gets her baby. There must be a way. She deserves a break poor thing Flowers

MissMrsMummy · 12/04/2015 21:42

Purds amazingly Stoical? Ha. I ain't amazing in any way tonight! I'm a quivering mess! Thanks. The "trunchbull" will not appreciate tears.. Ha. I think that's what I'm gonna call her as she reminds me of her! Trunchbull. Yep. Should I just explain that exactly the same sequence of events happened in January? And I can't go on like this every few months? How much do you bet she says "these two are probably a fluke and next time will be fine" good idea about the new thread. Don't care about username changing, I may do that. Thank you. You are right, there's so much knowledge out there, I need to make use of it! Agreed on the prog score! Although one clinic said 20 one said 30! I think mine was the 20. It worries me that they haven't checked my prog since last July and are happy that two were 30.6 and that's it case closed! Well, my three before were 28, 28.6 and 11.5.. Why do they not get taken into consideration?!

Pug you are so lovely thank you for your words and kindness. Unfortunately this is the sister for the fertility clinic and she is our only point of contact in the hospital.. There are no other nurses as specialised as her apparently. The consultant prob does have a secretary but specifically said I had to call that nurse with any queries. I guess all I can do is try and if I'm not happy with the response then find another avenue than her. Hope you are doing ok???
