mummy and co.. You are making me feel more confident now about motherhood! I shouldn't listen to my friend.. You all sound much more realistic! Flowers

Sparkly123 · 06/03/2015 13:36

Tessie organised! I haven't even thought about Mother's Day yet! Funky pigeon always do that for me, I switched to moonpig!

Sparkly123 · 06/03/2015 13:35

Spinning what a beautiful and peaceful pic. I'm so sorry for what you and your family is going through. What a difficult lead up to, such a young age to lose the fight.. However it sounds like your uncle was struggling so much and is no longer in pain, but I know that is probably only of little comfort to you just now. I hope you all get some answers from doctors, you need that. Sending Flowers

nightandthelight · 06/03/2015 13:26

What an amazing pic spinning, you must live somewhere very beautiful!

mummy don't worry about age gaps. I am 8 years older than my eldest brother and we get on really well. He is two years older than my middle brother and they fight all the time. Any age gap can work and I love being so much older, means that I am always right :)

spinningirl10 · 06/03/2015 13:23

I don't know Tessie, we are wondering that. My aunt lives in Worthing so she's gone up to the hospital with my cousin today to be with my uncles sons who have been at the hospital all night. They're 21 and 19. They have no grandparents so it's a lot for them to deal with. Hopefully we'll get some news soon.

Riceicle1 · 06/03/2015 13:23

wotsits I'm on cycle day 27 of 29, so although it's not over until the hag comes, I don't hold out much hope Sad my mom is in hospital today having an operation and I really wanted to be able to give her some happy news
*spinning I'm so sorry for your loss Flowers

tessiegirl · 06/03/2015 13:19

So maybe the docs weren't expecting him to deteriorate so quickly, Spinning? I really hope your family gets the answers you need. I know its a sensitive subject, but do you know if they plan to do a PM?

tessiegirl · 06/03/2015 13:16

I think it is important to remember that all children are very different. What may work for one family may not work for another family, or even children within the same family!

Lovely pic Spinning

Just on Funky Pigeon atm trying to sort out my mum's Mother Day card, what a bloody mission!! Angry I have given up twice as system freezes, shall try again and keep fingers crossed for third time lucky!

gennibugs · 06/03/2015 13:15

Oh spinning your poor uncle. I hope he is at peace now. Sad

spinningirl10 · 06/03/2015 13:14

Tessie, he definitely was very poorly but when mum took him back to hospital the surgeon said to her, don't worry we'll make him better. We're hoping we'll find out what was actually wrong with him. You would think in this day and age they would know what it was that was killing his bowel.

spinningirl10 · 06/03/2015 13:10

And here's the view on my run this morning. Mum phoned just as I got home.

Sorry my posts are always way too long.. Hmm

Purdey I am glad you got took something from my –ramblings—words of wisdom. It is difficult to hear about all these ‘perfect’ Mums who seemingly have everything they ever wanted by staying at home and bringing up their baby or even home schooling their child. It is just like you said to Sparkly there is no manual to bringing up your baby and there is no manual to how it should or shouldn’t make you feel. Everyone is different. Plus I fed on demand for a year, topping up with bottles from 3 months but always feeding to settle/sleep/enjoy a moments peace if I needed to – I agree nothing that makes the hard life of a new mum easier is the enemy. I wish people didn’t lie about how much their baby sleeps. I wanted to hit people when they said their baby slept all night in a cot in a separate room from 1 week old….they must lie.

People that question anything about others parenting skills should be slandered in public, it is the hardest job in the world. But one of the most annoying things for me is when “they” say things like “I would never have a big age gap, I think it is cruel to bring 2 up like only children” or “I would have my children close together so they can be friends growing up” or “I think x years apart is the PERFECT age gap”. Knowing full well that my DS is 6.5 and yes I am concerned about an age gap but sometimes life happens like this!

Heir sorry about your Nana

Welcome DisneyMillie

Spinning that is awful, at least he isn’t suffering anymore but I know that is of no consolation to what must be a really hard time – what an age too. Life isn’t fair – of and the GF deserves to be shot.

Jumping my jetlagged self onboard.

32, ttc#1, cycle #3, BFP due March 23. Ish.

tessiegirl · 06/03/2015 12:52

I know, Disney! The pressure hits you! Did you say you had a DD who is 5?

Oh Spinning 52 years old is still so young. It sounds like he really wasn't very well, but even when you know that when it happens it is still a massive shock. So sad that his gf could be so cruel. It sounds like he loved being in Devon though as he was making plans to move there. I hope he found some happiness in his last weeks Flowers Hope your Mum is as ok as she can be x

spinningirl10 · 06/03/2015 12:40

My uncle was only 52Hmm

spinningirl10 · 06/03/2015 12:39

Thank you ladies, you're all so lovely.
Thanks ladies xx
he was taken ill about 10 months ago. He was in a hospital in Kent which was terrible and we got him moved to St.Thomas in London. A massive part of his bowel had died so they removed it but it just kept dying. He was in hospital for 8 months and they didn't know what was wrong with him. He couldn't eat and lost so much weight, he was only 6 stone and he was over 6 foot tall. He had so many ops and was on tpn 24 hours a day which meant he gained some weight. Just before Xmas the hospital phones my mum and said he could come out of hospital. He had no-where to go because whilst in hospital his gf had spent all his money and dumped him when it ran out ?? my mum went and fetched him and brought him home to Devon. He just went back to hospital last week because he was so thin and unable to eat. They sent him for another op last night after discovering more bowel was dead but I think he had no fight left in him. Just before he went back to London we were chatting and he was saying that he was hoping to get a job and flat down here when he was better. Off to see my Mum now xx

DisneyMillie · 06/03/2015 12:39

I was so convinced I was going to be ever so relaxed and just wait and let it happen - but then those little thoughts of "but I'm 35" and "really dtd at weekends isn't going to cut it" start to creep up on you!!

tessiegirl · 06/03/2015 12:35

Huge welcome Disney! It is funny how this ttc game can make a normal woman turn into an obsessed nutter! Welcome to the mad house, or should I say bus?! Grin

tessiegirl · 06/03/2015 12:27

Trixie I took a look at TCOYF...it seems temps are very up and down during an anovulatory cycle and not the sustained higher temps when you have ovulated. You said your temps are higher, didn't you? Is there a chance you may have ovulated later than when you stopped the CB digis?

TCOYF goes on to list the possible reasons why ovulation may be delayed or not happen at all...recently coming off the pill, illness, travel, exercise, weight gain or loss, stress, medical conditions and it says anovulatory cycles are completely normal and should be understood in the right context...

So, my temps are up and down but not dramatically, I have recently started exercising again (but not strenuously!) and lost a little weight, we do a lot of travelling but not since we came back here at the start of January so surely that wouldn't have affected ovulation 2 cycles later?! No stress or medical conditions (that I know of) so maybe it is just one of those funny unexplained cycles or a broken thermometer?!! Shall wait and see what next week brings...

DisneyMillie · 06/03/2015 12:24

Hi All

I'm a newbie who's been lurking the last couple of weeks (irrational fear that if I started posting it would somehow lead to trouble conceiving?!! Not superstitious really!). But here goes...

I'm a mum to a lovely DD5 with my ex-husband but new OH (well not that new - 2 years now) would like one too, so after a little persuasion here I am. Weirdly, after not being sure about the whole ttc thing before coming off the mini-pill I'm now unreasonably obsessed Blush

So ttc1 - cd 21 of about 28/29 day cycle (I think). I think I ov'd either cd 13 or 16 (felt ov pains lots on cd13 but then weirdly night of cd16 woke up with stabbing pains twice in the night so guess must have actually been then?)

Hating the 2ww already and imagining lots of symptoms!!

Sparkly123 · 06/03/2015 12:21

Gotthekey line line line!!! Yes!!! Congrats! Get another test to double check ! Fingers crossed lovely Flowers

Rice sorry for bfn .. Still a chance!!

Oh Heir so sorry about your Nana.. Aren't they always such wise women? I hope you get more time with yours Flowers sorry bloods weren't good.. I'm a pincushion, get them done a lot with issues so I know exactly how you feel. Hope the result is good, fingers crossed

Purdita returns! We missed ya Flowers how you feeling? My friend is an idiot. She made me feel like I'll be a bad mother if I don't do X, Y and Z and change this and that. I will be a mother who try's her best and you all have got the description of reality down! Yes!

Giddy find your own way! Yes .. I like that!

Cookie hope your gp goes well

TrixieRay · 06/03/2015 11:53

Sorry you think you are having an anovulatory cycle too Tessie. Would be interested to hear what TCOYF says. I've used FF in the past but have been trying to take the laid back approach to TTC...the only reason I know I may not have oved is I found some CB digi OPKS when clearing out the bathroom and figured I may as well use them. Got negatives CD14-18 and would usually ov around CD17. I did try feeding the temps I've taken into FF but it's not enough to confirm ov. I'm worried it's going to turn into a really long cycle, just want to get onto the next one!

CookieDough9 · 06/03/2015 11:35

Morning all. Sorry haven't been able to come on here for a while due to other things going on.

Sorry to hear about ur uncle spinning Flowers

Congratulations to those who got their bfp Cake
Sorry to those who got caught out by AF.
CD22 here and I can already feel AF coming on Sad Have an appt booked with GP to discuss getting blood tests done as opks were negative so don't think I'm even ovulating. Don't think they'll offer much on the NHS as I already have DD but once I know what's wrong then at least we can look into private treatment

scrunchiemount · 06/03/2015 11:32

re: GFord I think it's your prerogative as a parent to raise your kids the way you want to really. I do think we have a tendency to over-think it in this day and age. My mum just muddled through it with the four of us and it was fine, and kids are so different that I think it's so difficult to find a one size fits all approach. My sister does the whole attachment parenting thing with my nephew which I can't say I would do myself (though what do I know yet?!), but it works for her.

Giddymamma · 06/03/2015 11:23

I was put off gford after a midwife told me if she could get hold of all of her books and burn then she would - maybe a tad extreme?! I have kind of gone with my instincts. Much more of a tree hugger than I ever thought I would be. Lots of slings, feeding to sleep, co sleeping now he's older (was too scared of squishing him when he was teeny!) in our house. And yes, his sleep is much more interrupted than that of his little buddies who have been sleep trained/ weaned....but he is getting there. :) . Find your own way, innit?

Sorry about your uncle spinning. Flowers
