There are some depressing threads on Mumsnet, just found the "if you could turn back time would you still have children" and so many people said no?! Wondering if I should stick with cats?!

spinningirl10 · 07/03/2015 15:47

Tessie, I imagine having your dad in your life later on must be very strange. I can see why you wouldn't call him Dad.
Yes dd has anxiety but she was smoking weed for while(too frequently I think) she's stopped that now thankfully and the anxiety seems to be improving. Would like to add that dp and I don't smoke weed but it seems rife in her friend group. Sensibly she's cut ties with most of them and I'm hoping that's the end of it.

spinningirl10 · 07/03/2015 15:40

Glittery, enjoy the wedding and a few drinks in the sunshineGrin

spinningirl10 · 07/03/2015 15:39

Cariad, I'm so sorry it was your edd yesterday. I've been there and it's tough. I hope you have a nice weekend planned with your dh. You know 10dpo is too early to poas!Smile I can't wait for you to get your sticky bfp and I'm sure it's coming soonThanks

GlitteryLipgloss1 · 07/03/2015 15:33

Hey allSmile I'm a day late and had a BFN this morning so just waiting for AF. Have a friends wedding reception later so at least can enjoy a few. Enjoying a vanilla vodka and diet coke as we speak... the weather is lavely. X

Mumof1sofar · 07/03/2015 14:24

Teacher over here (secondary)! Although still on maternity leave from having dc1.

I'm now on cd13, think I'm ovulating & have just dtd Smile Woohoo, fingers crossed.

Welcome newbies & sorry to any bfns & anyone the witch got. Fx for us all this month... Let's hope the sunshine brings out the bfps Grin

kissinggiraffe · 07/03/2015 12:39

Aw guys a mixed bag on here today.

mrsg yay for normal lo

Welcome newbies, good luck to you all.

I love hearing what everyone does for a living, I am technically an estate agent but haven't worked since having DC2 10 (nearly 11) years ago!!
I love being a stay at home parent. Can't imagine not doing that now.

juneybean · 07/03/2015 12:37

cariad it's not over til it's over lovely! 10dpo is still early! x

victoria that's 35 hours so close enough. I had my jab at 9am-10am and then insem at 11am the next day so 26 hours and it pisses me off that they don't scan on the day of the insem to make sure it's timed right. Especially when I'm using shitty frozen sperm.

Sorry to the AF arrivals! What a cow she is.

juneybean · 07/03/2015 12:34

mrsg hard to know either way, 12dpo COULD give you a good answer, but I wouldn't be too disheartened if it was BFN, you hear so many stories that people didn't get a positive until a week after a missed period.

TrixieRay · 07/03/2015 12:31

Another lawyer here...Genni it's funny when we were talking about work stress before I thought maybe you were too for some reason - though obviously loads of jobs can be stressful. I am constantly worrying about my clients cases/upcoming trials etc. really need to try harder to switch off outside of work.

I had a massive temp dip this am and some cramping so looks like AF is lurking in the wings. Woke up with an urge to get a tattoo, something to represent hope....does anyone have any ideas?

Cariad, sending hugs and Flowers yesterday must have been hard. 10dpo is still early, am crossing everything for you xx

MrsGingerbread · 07/03/2015 12:31

Oh cariad you are such a sweetie. Let's hope it is OUR month.

You tested way too early (as you well know!) Sorry you are having such a tough time. Cwtch. Xx

The last few months af has caught me before I got to poas. Even thought I am pretty symptomless I might just poas tomorrow (if no witch beats me to it). 12 dpo would give a pretty good answer, wouldn't it? but either way lp - woohoo! :)

I posted a card to the little girl we have sponsored in Kenya yestetday. That has helped a lot to put everything into perspective a little.

Everyone having a good saturday? I've found a pick and mix bar at my conference. I'm dodging caffeine so sugar high instead!

juneybean · 07/03/2015 12:25

Welcome strawb!

I had a terrible dream last night, my body decided to ovulate dead early so I had to cancel the spermz.

eskimo that's the worst! I hope you enjoy your meal out anyways!

StrawbRhi · 07/03/2015 12:03

Thank you tessie, I likes me puns!

tessiegirl · 07/03/2015 12:01

Welcome StrawbRhi I like what you did with your username there!! Smile

StrawbRhi · 07/03/2015 12:00

Also, had a temp dip yesterday 7dpo, and a rise this morning plus a near positive OPK, but I'm sure my body is just trolling me again!

tessiegirl · 07/03/2015 11:59

Sorry to those of us feeling Sad

I am possibly 10dpo here but no twinges or symptoms at all. Meh.

Wow, yes Spinning your dd did so well that day at the funeral. Bless her, must have been hard for you both. My mum would have quite happily gouged my dads eyes out when they first met again after 21 years but I think mum has finally moved on from the heartache he caused her. Maybe your dd won't ever want to have anything to do with her dad and she will be ok with that. I was so fearful that having any contact with him would be hard on my mum but she reassured me I had to do what I felt I needed to and I think getting answers from him herself has done her good. You know what? I have never ever called him 'dad' - it is an alien word to me. I write in in his cards but can't call him it to his face. I'm not sure I ever will now Sad. You said your dd suffers with anxiety?

StrawbRhi · 07/03/2015 11:58

Hi ladies. May I have a ticket for this bus?
###Stats: 29, ttc #2, trying for 3 years (1 mc last April), AF/BPF expected 11th or 12th March###

8dpo at the moment. Have creamy cm, sore boobs, very mild cramps but not feeling very positive!

eskimolaura · 07/03/2015 11:12

Cariad, Sorry you are feeling :( I am going out tonight for a meal with four of my besties, one of which is 4 months pregnant or thereabouts. They have been having a conversation on Facebook about what to wear tonight and she has put 'not sure... probably a leopard print top and my skinny jeans, if they will button up...' :( I wish my jeans wouldn't button up for that reason.

eskimolaura · 07/03/2015 11:08

Night, Purdey and Spinning, totally agree with you on the 'education' front. I come from a long line of teachers, and, as a result, never wanted to be a teacher; however, that is what I have ended up as. When I was growing up, any conversation about my future started with 'When you go to uni...' It was just 'expected'. My dad has a motto carved into the beams of their house: 'Education is the builder of a classless society.' They follow this to the letter.

However, DH is from a very working class background, having grown up in a mining/steel workers family in Rotherham. He is a stringent believer that having a job from leaving school and gaining experience is much more valuable than 3 years at university.

We have had many conversations about our future family, should we be lucky enough to have them, and, whilst I will push for my children to go to university so that they have an education to 'fall back on', (it's difficult to go against long instilled beliefs and attitudes), I will also support them if they choose to get a job straight afterwards.

Victoria, about your DH's parents possibly not becoming grandparents- DH and I have had the same conversation about mine! I have a younger brother and an older half-sister who is my dad's daughter. She is 46, and has shown no signs of wanting children or ever having them, despite being in a very long-term relationship with her DP. My brother is 30 and his wife and him have been trying for 7 months for a baby, however, she has cysts on her ovaries, although I don't think it is officially PCOS. She has been to see her GP and I think they are being referred to a fertility specialist, after he gets his swimmers checked. Even if they do have babies, they are planning to move to the US in a couple of years, as she is originally from California, so I don't think that my parents will see their kids very often. As for me, I am still waiting on AF to arrive, having come off the pill in November, so who knows!

The twinges seem to have gone... I am scared to hope that they were implantation twinges after last week's positive OPK. That would be far too good to be true...

victoria401 · 07/03/2015 10:54

You may say that night but mil is forever moaning that she's the only one of the aunts and uncles that isn't a granny. Her nagging us for kids became stifling! It was so upsetting because we were struggling. It was only after 18months ttc I begged dh to tell her we were infertile to shut her up!

nightandthelight · 07/03/2015 10:49

Oh Cariad major hugs for you, sounds like this is a very difficult time Flowers

You will get your BFP though and no one is letting down their parents by not having children! Grandchildren are not a human right and anyway it's hardly your fault that you are struggling.

Cariad2014 · 07/03/2015 10:48

Snow not now.

Cariad2014 · 07/03/2015 10:46

Waves at everyone. Hope you're doing ok Spinning.

Victoria - I feel similar about my parents. I think they'd be devastated if they didn't have grand-children and right now I feel I'm letting them down on that front. Sad

10dpo at this end and so symptoms whatsoever so I reckon I'm out this month. AF due on Thursday. I rather stupidly POAS on a CBFM hpt this morning and it was as white as now. Admittedly the instructions tell you that you have to put it into the machine to read it and that you can't test until 3 days before AF is due (I'm 5 days off) but it wasn't very reassuring.

Feeling a bit blue at the moment. It would have been the EDD for my first pregnancy yesterday and I really thought I'd be pregnant again by now Sad. Meeting up with some of my friends with bumps and babies for coffee this afternoon which I'm dreading.

Sorry for the me me me post.

Yay for the longer lp MrsG - I really hope this is YOUR month.

How are things with you Trixie?

nightandthelight · 07/03/2015 10:37

You are very right purdey, I actually think that parental involvement has more impact than schooling! I did very well at school and university because that was what was expected of me. However it hasn't translated into major gains in my adult life (although I don't regret any of my education). Seeing my parents work their butts of for people who will forget about them five minutes after they retire has made me turn away from ambition etc.

I think there must be a middle ground between helping your children achieve their potential and turning them off for life. With my parents I think it is that they only have one concept of success. I hope to be proud of my children regardless of their level of education and employment.
