HyCoSy and increased fertility.....?

Hi

I'm booked in for a HyCoSy on 16th March, the lady who booked me in said that this scan can lead to increased fertility but couldn't tell me any more as she was not "a trained medical professional". Has anyone had a HyCoSy and had a bfp in the following 3 months? Any other info which may be helpful?

My history
Depo injection for 10 years
TTC since October 2013
OPK always negative

@palegreenandbrightorange did you TTC after your Hycosy? I had mine yesterday and I'm unsure whether to try this cycle or wait until next?

Old thread I know… but I had a HyCoSy to day. It was all clear but they said not to TTC this month as the impact of the due on eggs is unknown.

Just wondering if anyone has had a HyCoSy and got pregnant the cycle after and not had a MC? Lots of people on here saying they got pregnant straight after but can’t see anyone/many people saying they carried to term… trying to decide whether to skip a month TTC or not.

Hi kinder19 thank you for your reply. I'm sorry about the mc. That's great news yous are on top of the list. I am on the list but think I've got at least another 7month wait. It's good to know I'm not the only one who has thought of giving the hycosy a second go. I definitely will look into it and just ask the question. X

Hi, I had exactly the same experience after hycosy - fell pregnant same cycle but mc at 5.5 weeks. I’ve thought about having another but we’re now top of the list for IVF. As its unexplained I’ve definitely considered a second hycosy. I think its worth asking if it’s possible. Also maybe worth looking into other tests they can do privately that might help figure out what’s going on x

Hi sorry to jump this post. I was wondering if anyone has been able to have more than one hycosy and fallen pregnant.

My husband and I have been trying to conceive our first. We have been trying for around 2 and half years, we have had all the tests done. All clear. I went privately for a hycosy in November 2020. Everything was normal except they found a small fibroid but says this shouldn't cause any problems. It worked and I fell pregnant on the next cycle but unfortunately I mc around week 5. Nothing els since. Is it possible to have a second procedure privately?

Thanks all. It was a bit of a nightmare actually. The procedure itself was ok - uncomfortable and I was glad I had taken ibuprofen beforehand but not horrific.

But it looked as though I have a unicornuate uterus i.e. half a uterus with just one Fallopian tube which makes for a difficult time TTC and high risk pregnancies when/if they occur. I'd had (private) internal scans the week before which had commented on 2 Fallopian tubes and a normal uterus so I got a major fright and have been in complete shock since. Totally normal menstrual cycle, no gynae history etc.

Anyway, it looked as though my left ovary (the good side with a Fallopian tube) is ovulating this month so we're giving it our best effort and will update if there's any success. I had been deliberating whether to hold off on going for IVF as we've only been trying 11 cycles but I think we're going to go for IVF now as I think I ovulate from my good (left) side very 3rd cycle on average, and paired with some sperm morphology issues, I think we may be waiting quite a while to conceive naturally and my heart is broken from this uterus issue.

Anyway, what I have is super rare (1 in 4000) so no need for anyone else to worry!!!

Yeah I think it definitely does for some people.

I thought it would be one or the other - HSG or Hycosy, didn’t think they’d do both. That’s interesting. Good luck with it and I hope you are pregnant very soon!

@Kinder19 I actually had an HSG (similar to the HyCoSy in that they flush the tubes but a different method) in January and also fell pregnant but had a loss. So I do think the tube flushing works. I wasn't sure if the HyCoSy would be as effective in that respect but from hearing of others experiences, it seems it may be.

Hopefully we both fall pregnant soon, there's nothing worse than hoping and praying then getting your period and knowing that you're out for another month.

I had a hycosy a few months ago and fell pregnant the following cycle so it worked for me to an extent. Unfortunately, I had an early loss and then the following cycle I believe I had a chemical.

Trying to stay positive in that things are moving in the right direction and I definitely do think the hycosy helped so hopefully it will help you too and we both get good news soon. I think my cycles are still settling down after a crazy couple of months.

@Vap0 your post is really helpful and helps me to think positively as well - thank you for sharing. Good tip on drinking haha I’m always panicking about that! X

@Vap0 thanks for your reply. I'm really sorry for your previous losses however very happy to hear that you did get your babies in the end!

I am a bit anxious about getting the HyCoSy as I've read it can be a little painful however if you can't remember even having it done then it can't be too traumatic!

I'm trying to stay positive, it just gets harder and harder with every month that goes by. I guess what will be will be though, the only thing I can do is keep trying and hopefully we'll get there.

I’m sorry I had even forgotten that I had had this procedure. I was reading my description of it and can’t recall it at all.
TTC was super stressful for me (as it is with everyone) as it took forever.
My problem was not something this procedure could fix. I was not ovulating. I expect due to being on the injection contraception for so long. It took my body ages to get back to normal.

As soon as I started ovulating I did get pregnant, sadly I lost my first 2 pregnancies, they were both very early on, 8 and 10 weeks I think. After my first pregnancy I was devastated as it had taken about 2 years to get to that point. I managed to get pregnant again 3 months after, lost that one and was pregnant again on my next cycle. My 3yo (4 in sept) is now climbing on me and her brother (2 years her junior) is doing the same.
I know it’s so hard but try not to lose faith.
I guess the answer here is that yes I believe that a bit of agitation does help eggs stick.
Plus, as devastating as miscarriages are a lot of people (like me) have one and your body learns from its mistakes and will eventually go on to have a successful pregnancy or 2....or more Grin

@Vap0 I know that this is a really old thread however I was looking for information about fertility rates post HyCoSy on MN and came across your post! I'm booked in for one next month...just wondering if you had any luck with it? I hope you did!

I've read all your updates on other threads...at least you're ovulating. I wouldn't have thought they'd prescribe you that now as clomid is just for those who don't do it themselves.

I've purchased a clearblue advanced fertility monitor...really good little gadget as it lets me know what my hormones are doing. I'm now day 10 after taking clomid day 2-6 and my little gadget says high fertility' but just waiting for it to say 'peak' now. I had a follicle scan on day 7 to do a baseline test. Having another one on day 12 to see if the clomid has convinced my body to make a big enough follicle to get an egg out! Then I get one more to see if the follicle burst to release the egg.

Worst side effect I've had it that I've completely dried up!!! Sorry to be graphic but I'm just making nothing in the mucus department...not even getting wet for sex!!! Used the incredibly glamorous (not!) pre-seed which you have to inject up there 10mins before intercourse! Sex was pretty sore without it though.

So that's my update. You managed to get your appointment brought forward?

Mad that most people become pregnant in under 6 months but after that us "long timers" seem to take years but don't seem to get the help we need. At this rate I'll be 35 and without a child, and was hoping to have 2 in the end, not looking likely unless things happen pretty quickly now...

Not pregnant I'm afraid Sad 21st cycle and counting...
I managed to rearrange my appointment so it is the middle of next month (next cycle - 22)
I've been so mad busy with work and haven't had time to think about it all too much this month at least that's what I've been telling myself. Work won't ease off until August and so can't even think about anything else until then.
Mad that work takes over my life so much. Will be working pretty much all weekend even though "apparently" I have a Monday - Friday job.
Think the work stresses aren't helping either. Although I think all these people who just say "relax" and "you're worrying too much" and "chill out and it will happen"..... Well if relaxing and not being stressed is a factor then I will never become pregnant unless I quit my job. I don't believe the only pregnant people in this world are the "relaxed" type. And if they are then I'm f*ed!
How are you getting on?
Did you get your clomid in the end?
How are you getting on with your weight?
I'm down to 12.7 or a little lower depending on the morning but they want me to be 12.4 for clomid at the hospital. I am below my bmi of 30 already but for some reason they want me lower.
Hopinf things happen this month before we will need intervention.

I've received my letter through for my next appointment for 22nd June which is a 13 week wait. If nothing happens in my next couple of cycles I think I'll be going privately. There is only so much waiting I can do.
