New thread for the rest of us to get our BFP's on, by whatever means!!!

I think they can also be tested at day 3 lil but not quite as accurate as day5 and a little more risky for the embryo but worth looking in to.

victoria401 · 19/02/2015 12:29

lil with hubby's new improved sperm do you think there will be a higher chance you could get preg naturally now? Is he going to keep up the healthy living now? Wish my hubby would get off his fat lardy arse and do something positive....

we didnt get to blast stage with ours, we had only 2 embryos left out of 7 on day 2 so i guess that means we would be unlikely to get to testing unless we deliberately left them to go to blast and risk losing them by not shoving them back as quick as possible. its all so confusing!

lucieloos · 19/02/2015 11:51

Yes it's meant to increase chances of success quite substantially and from what I have read will likely become common place in the next 5 years or so as even though it's not cheap it still saves money when you compare to having 2 fresh cycles of ivf. We need to get to the stage where we get a decent number of blasts first tho!

lildottie · 19/02/2015 11:43

interested to hear about the genetic testing lucie as i'm thinking we should consider this if we do decide to do IVF again

lucieloos · 19/02/2015 11:24

Thanks lil and Landy. Nervously awaiting the start of ours. I am toying with the idea of genetic testing if we are lucky enough to get more than 3 blasts at day 5. Apparently a lot of blasts can have chromosomal defects even though they might look top notch to the eye. This helps pick out the genetically normal ones which then have a much better chance of sticking?!

Landy10 · 19/02/2015 09:42

Lucie the way I've heard it explained is this - if the problem is sperm getting to the egg to enable the creation of an embryo, then ICSI gets around this by taking sperm and injecting into egg creating an embryo. The rest of your parts should be working correctly therefore good chance of it working so long as you can create the embryos. It still might take more than one go to find that good egg obviously.

I'm so nervous waiting for my call to find out how many eggs fertilised!!!

lildottie · 19/02/2015 09:19

also pissed off with the world Laura why is it a f'ing postcode lottery!

Lucie in theory yes, but MF was our issue and whilst I did get pg the embryos weren't good enough quality to be viable. (or so is my assumption based on what ive read and our lack of any thing to freeze from 11 eggs). we had a mix of ivf and icsi embryos and one of each put back.

Lauraqc · 19/02/2015 06:36

Thanks all. Didn't sleep too well last night with all this stuff going on. Just feel it's so unfair having to deal with all this crap and why can't we just be 'normal'. We definitely come under the CCG which gives us one round (but if we'd have been referred before 1st Feb it would've been 3 rounds) - I'm just so pissed off with the world.

lucieloos · 18/02/2015 23:52

Is it true that ivf/icsi works quite well for male factor? I really hope so as I think that's our main problem. We will be starting before long and font think I can face another bfn!

lildottie · 18/02/2015 18:29

landy ec and et is the easy bit, the time after is hard!

victoria401 · 18/02/2015 17:19

Yay great news landy totally forgotten you had reached this stage! Fingers crossed for good news tomorrow x

Welcome Bertie - totally echo what the others say and get to the GP as soon as you can. They will have seen loads of couples in the same boat.

Laura - although it wasn't good news it's good up be told a reason and Ivf/icsi when male factor is the issue works so well. What Vic said is very valid - I'm in London so loads of different councils go to the same hospitals and the doctor actually asked us which council we live in and then looked up a booklet to tell us our funding.

I've had my egg collection this morning. It's a totally fine procedure. The only bit that hurts is the morphine injection! Got 11 eggs - totally thrilled with that given my rubbish amh. Will find out tomorrow what the fertilisation is. DH sample was apparently very good so fingers crossed for high fertilisation. Can't wait for my pizza tonight after going low carb for the past 2 months!

victoria401 · 18/02/2015 15:43

Oh dear it is doom and gloom in here today Sad

Sorry for the crap results Laura it prob is affecting dh but inwardly. I thought my dh didn't care til a sudden outburst on how inadequate he was and why don't I divorce him!

You might find that its your postcode that deems you elligible for the rounds of ivf not what hospital you go to. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news. I know a person who brought their 2 goes from Somerset to a bristol hospital where we only get one...

Also just realised it's a year today that I had the erpc after my mmc. I never thought I'd not even be pregnant again by now... Sad

Metalhead · 18/02/2015 14:56

Sorry to hear that laura, but glad you're keeping positive! Maybe your DH just needs a bit of time on his own to clear his head?

I'm having a bit of a crap week myself, I thought I'd managed to get my cycles a bit more regular with the acupuncture and soy but today I'm CD22 and have still not had a +opk, so looks like it will be another 35+day cycle. Pretty pissed off with my body, all told (and with having to carry on dtd for another week...).

Lauraqc · 18/02/2015 14:38

BFN for me, and think I'm having phantom af cramps now lol. Not too upset with result though, maybe it is a bit early if my cycles are thinking about being nearly normal..?

Just got back from our fertility appt though and its bad news...DH's sample has gone from 1.1m to 0.7ml in 6 months. Oh. So no point really concentrating on af/ov/temps etc as our chances are pretty slim. We've been declared eligible for our one round of ICSI, just as soon as I've lost that pesky 2 stone. Our neighbouring CCG may allow 3 rounds and so we may swap to come under that (we had the choice which hosp to be referred to). Final choice is private treatment which we think we'll do. Not a great day but spirits are ok and I don't feel as bad as I thought I would. No telling how DH is though, he's out cleaning the car with seemingly no second thought.

hotnspicy12 · 18/02/2015 09:43

Thanks Laura, positive thoughts and good luck to everyone xoxo

Metalhead · 18/02/2015 09:35

Did you poas laura?

victoria401 · 18/02/2015 07:59

Hi Bertie, welcome. This is not like a normal conception thread full of charts and symptom spotting much but somewhere where we can talk about our ttc issues which a lot of people on the buses who are just starting out ttc don't understand. Most of us here are having/have had tests and a few are moving onto the treatment stages. You're in the right place.

I agree though, it takes ages to get all the fertility tests. I think about 8 or 9 months before we got referred. It can be longer if you live in Scotland or Wales too. You don't say how old you are, do you have time on your side?

Feel free to say/ask anything. We like to think we know a lot about tests and their results and what comes next from our own experiences.

lildottie · 17/02/2015 23:18

hi Bertie. I'd honestly suggest seeing gp sooner rather than later. the referral process is long long long. you may have to wait months for an appointment at fertility clinic and time is of the essence with fertility. it took a year from seeing my gp to starting ivf.

Lauraqc · 17/02/2015 21:43

Hi Bertie welcome - hopefully you're feeling better just by joining this thread...good luck and fingers crossed for you.

BertieBoo10 · 17/02/2015 20:51

Hi! I'm new to this thread, I sort of talked myself out of being on threads for a while but I feel there's so much to gain from them. Myself and my fiancé have been trying for 17 months now. Found myself in a really dark place around Christmas time when I simply couldn't bear to be around those with children regardless of who they were to us. From the darkness came support from a close friend who felt them same not so very long ago and I feel very fortunate that we have these two wonderful friends who have been through similar and have a beautiful little girl and just seeing her keeps me hoping ever so slightly. It offers support for me and my partner which I love but sometimes you really do just want to talk to someone who is going through it here and now. We have yet to seek medical advice we are due to go on holiday with these friends in June and we have decided should nothing happen after being away then we will seek support from out GP. I've heard such terrible things though that I'm so embarrassed and nervous to seek advice.

Hoping for us all that our wishes come true soon.

X

Lauraqc · 17/02/2015 20:41

Definitely Vic! Weirdly I do feel it'll happen this year - either with help or without...I'm 10dpo tomorrow and my LP is usually 10 days and no sign of af as yet, but then no sign of anything else either! So i'm going to test in the morning before I go off to my fertility appt - I'm hoping I'll be one of those people who cancels because they got up the duff!!

victoria401 · 17/02/2015 20:36

This was meant to be OUR year ladies. We must stay positive!
