Well as the title says :) I've chosen the worst time to get my act together and start my diet (again!!) I'm well overweight, in fact in classed as obese so I need to lose a tonne of weight. I know I need to be a healthy weight to conceive so there isn't much more of a motivator than the hope if a BFP :) I'm just counting calories until Christmas Eve (when we have our traditional Xmas eve meal of good old McDonalds!) and then back on track on the 27th when I will be returning to Slimming World.
If anyone fancies joining me, or even just to give me a kick up the arse, feel free :)

I didn't write yesterday but hope today is a better day for all of us!!!

honeysucklejasmine · 13/01/2015 17:33

Gosh! Sad It's not been a great day for some has it? Flowers
I stepped on the scale this morning. Instant regret.... Period makes me retain weight like a bugger! Need to stay away from them till next week.

Made my aubegine dip. Omg there will be no vampires round here tonight!

dojo123 · 13/01/2015 14:54

Hey, if you need a sounding board this seems to be the best way.
Hope dd1 gets better soon, must be a worry for you.

I'm the same. When I was 16, I was part of a clinical study on obesity. I weight 13st 7lbs. They tried out various pills and diets on me for a few years and did get under 12st just before my A levels but the stress and then alcohol and eating whatever I liked at Uni put the weight back on, and then some!! The outcome was that I had a metabolic rate of 1100, half the rate it should be and the only way for me to lose weight was calorie counting and lots of exercise. So Ditto!

We all have low days but just think of the wonderful thing that is growing inside of you and hopefully that can keep you positive.

spamanderson · 13/01/2015 14:30

Yeah its nothing compared to most but just a bit of a stress at the min. Without saying too much for fear of outing myself. Dd1 is due to have an op, I've been chasing it as she's really low, in pain etc and finally manage to get someone to speak to me today and the letter sent out was incorrect, she's not even been added to the waiting list yet :/ they must have thought I was a right nutter, sobbing down the phone to all and sundry to try and get somewhere!

I'm doing slimming world at the mo, it's not worked for me before, only weight watchers does but you end up starving after I've lost a little as the points went down so much. Think I just need my jaw wired shut ha ha! I've tried pretty much every diet going, the only thing that works for me is lots of exercise and 1200 calories a day which obviously isn't an ideal preggy diet! I should have never started dieting in the first place, I was lovely and slim as a teenager yet called fat, started dieting and just get bigger and bigger!

Oh yeah I might stock up on sugar free polos again!

Anyway, enough of my whinging! Sorry! It's one of those days!

Spam Poor you, you sound like you're going through it. Do you have any mints that could curb the hunger?
I know it's easy to obsess about food and weight when you're trying to lose it but if you're needing to eat because your body/baby is wanting energy then it's just choosing the right foods to consume.
Carrot sticks and hummus? Homemade ginger biscuits? (at least you know what you're then putting in to yourself).

spamanderson · 13/01/2015 13:49

Ha ha dojo baby brain has seriously got me alrwady, I can't concentrate at all, typing and spelling wrong, forgetting words, words coming out wrong etc.
I do weigh every day at least once (one thing from an eating disorder at age 15/16 that has never gone away) I am obsessed. I'm so hungry, as I'm not craving stuff but I just don't want to eat anything really so when I am eating I'm forcing something down I don't want or just not eating which I know is definitely not good. Probably part of why Im so tired as baby will be taking the little goodness I am taking in :( really hoping to just get 1lb off this week and I'll be happy. I don't want to be so massive I get stuck in the bath when I've got a big bump! ( with dd1, I had to shout DH to get me out of the bath. I sat there so long the water all drained away and I got wedged when I tried to roll over to get out on all fours!) ok it was funny but I want to be a slim healthy mummy this time :(

Annnnd as you can tell as well as the tiredness hitting me like a bus today, the hormones have had me sobbing this morning.... On my own, on the phone to the Drs, to the hospital (re dd1 not me)... This is going to be a fun 8 more months!

Spelling is terrible this morning. thing and your.
Feel better about that now!

dojo123 · 13/01/2015 10:29

Spam don't give in. Are you weighing yourself everyday? One think I've learnt over the years is try and only weigh yourself once a week (twice if you really must). You're weight can fluctuate over the week. If you can drink more water. I'm trying to drink 5-6 pints through the day.

spamanderson · 13/01/2015 10:07

Bleurgh. 2 days to weigh in and I'm a lb heavier :( I'm an inch away from having a toddler tantrum and scoffing the kids pickled onion crisps and time out bars in protest at my stupid metabolism!

Hello to all our new comers x

spamanderson · 12/01/2015 19:07

I'm sure it will! We'll all be yummy new mummies :) I think as long as you're conscious of your diet when you're pregnant, you're ok, it's when you use it as an excuse to gorge like me that you end up in trouble.

spam Well lets hope that this thread can help and support us to keep focused and on target. I am quite scared of putting on weight if when I get pregnant and not being able to lose it afterwards.

spamanderson · 12/01/2015 18:21

Ha ha dojo i think it's going to be tough to stick to my plan as I'm finding it hard to eat the healthy snacks as they're either turning my stomach or just not appealing to me. I gained 3 stone 4lbs with my eldest, 2 stone 13lbs with my 2nd. With both I did the 'I'm eating for 2' and 'I'm allowed, I'm pregnant' and the weight piled on. I ate what I wanted etc :( I think at least if I keep to the diet 5 out of 7 days at least, it should limit the amount of weight I gain. I'd rather be lighter at full term than I am now so that would still be a success at least :) why oh why didn't I lose some of the weight before we started TTC-ing??

Spam If I do conceive sooner rather than later, I want take the opportunity to lose a little weight while pregnant (if I can) but also I hope I won't automatically reach for the chocolate bar/cake/biscuit when I do feel hungry, as I will be thinking of the little one I'm carrying rather than some instant gratification. I'm just hoping if I get cravings they aren't for chocolate/cake/biscuits!!!

spamanderson · 12/01/2015 17:36

Ha ha sorry honey I know you didn't :)
Mmmm poochie it was rather good! Just boring jacket potato for dinner with baked beans :/ going to have a big bowl of strawbs, raspberipries and blueberries for pudding :) nom nom
Oooh honey you've just reminded me I have peppers in the fridge and cous cous in the cupboard :) mmmm I'm thinking roasted veg and cous cous for dinner tomorrow! Yum!
dojo I hoped to lose weight before I conceived..... DHs 'super sperm' had different ideas! I'm going to continue to try to lose weight, slowly is best anyway :)

Yes, I'm in for the long haul too. I would love to lose 5-6 stone. And I am loving the distraction from ttc, I
really think that is doing me the world of good.

I am a big fan of the buses too - taking a step back from them as it can get a little all consuming can't it.

honeysucklejasmine · 12/01/2015 16:12

You sound like me two days ago! I keep telling myself how much easier pregnancy will be if i am slim, but i still feel very impatient! Honestly though, it's great channeling energy in to something other than ttc!

dojo123 · 12/01/2015 16:03

honeysucklejasmine. Hi, thank you for the welcome.
I would just hate to think that I put my life and the chances of conceiving/ carrying full term at risk due to my weight. I have struggled with my weight since I was a teenager and was even monitored by a hospital for a few years. I think I am just having a low/worry day and I'll get back to my positive/motivated self again soon.
Your lunch sounded yummy, i'm on a fasting day so it was only an orange and low-fat yoghurt. Looking forward to poached salmon and steamed veggies for dinner.

honeysucklejasmine · 12/01/2015 14:17

Sorry Spam Blush Didn't mean anything by it! Sounds like a sensible plan!

Welcome Dojo. Don't worry you're lighter then me we are all in it together!

I really struggle to decide what to have for lunch. I'm currently making cous cous but also roasting an aubergine so i can make a dip. Then its crudites all the way! (Fingers crossed it tastes nice!)

Poochieblue · 12/01/2015 14:05

notso i am also another here for the long haul! you will not be alone! we can do it though - if i can quit smoking focusing on getting that bfp, then i should be able to lose at least some of my target!! I have over 6 stone to lose to be a "healthy" weight. the most i've ever lost before was just under 4 and i've put all of that plus more back on over about 4 years!

spam your lunch sounds lush!!

MrsGingerbread · 12/01/2015 14:05

Congratulations for the losses and welcome to the new joiners. :)

Also sorry for all the mcs. They really are common aren't they. Not that that makes the horrendous experience any easier.

Feeling really positive about our progress so far. Woo! :)

spamanderson · 12/01/2015 13:49

Gee thanks for reminding me honey ha ha ;) my goal now is to lose 1lb a week until my due date.... I think that's pretty reasonable... I'm hoping for 1lb off this week. My metabolism is so screwed... I gained 3lbs the day after eating a portion of chip shop chips :( fingers crossed that and another lb will come off this week!

I am exactly the same with stodge, I neeeeed starch, I need my pasta and most of all my potatoes! Nom nom! Had a good lunch of grated carrot, cooked beetroot, cherry tomatoes, cucumber and cheddar for my healthy extra all drowned in balsamic vinegar too of course! Apricots for my heb. But God I feel like I could eat an entire loaf of bread right now!

Hi, can I join too.

Me and the OH are CD11 into our first cycle and I am worried that it may take us some TTC due to my weight.

I'm 17st (the heaviest I have been for some time). We were due to TTC last year but I decided to put it on hold as I wanted to lose some weight before conceiving. I managed to get to 15st 12lbs in Sept but then due to illness and I must admit, lack of motivation, the pounds started to creep back on, with the biggest weight gain over Christmas and New Year of 8lbs.

Since 1st of Jan I have stopped drinking alcohol and caffeine, started drinking a lot more water and have started back on 5:2 as it seemed to be the one that worked for me. So far I have lost 4lbs, I know a gradual weight loss is more beneficial than an immediate drop but I always hope for more. I have also started walking again, clocking up another 6 mile walk yesterday afternoon.

We have decided to TTC though, hoping that if it does take us a few months to conceive I should have hopefully changed my diet enough for some weight loss which must be better than nothing. I just don't want my weight to be the reason we can't conceive.

Poochieblue · 12/01/2015 13:39

it really is honey i'm mostly missing my rice! savoury rice is my "go to" lunch/tea when i don't fancy cooking much! there's no way i could have even managed it so far if it wasn't my 1st week and therefore still have that ultra motivation. i think i may do today and tomorrow though and then go back to normal extra easy from wednesday. 5 days has to be better than none! x

Well done Mrs gingerbread and notso on your weight losses.

I think I'm here for the long haul as well. I am on cd 17 I think but I had spotting cd 12-15 and then today more spotting with ewcm so not quite sure what's going on. Do you think my healthy eating could of affected my cycle? I have short cycles as it is.
