Well as the title says :) I've chosen the worst time to get my act together and start my diet (again!!) I'm well overweight, in fact in classed as obese so I need to lose a tonne of weight. I know I need to be a healthy weight to conceive so there isn't much more of a motivator than the hope if a BFP :) I'm just counting calories until Christmas Eve (when we have our traditional Xmas eve meal of good old McDonalds!) and then back on track on the 27th when I will be returning to Slimming World.
If anyone fancies joining me, or even just to give me a kick up the arse, feel free :)

Hi ainat welcome!

Are you following a particular diet? We are trying lots of things between us. :)

Ainat266 · 17/01/2015 21:46

Hello all, can I join?

Heard about this thread on the JS thread and finally found my way over here!

DH and I are ttc #1. I am definitely overweight. From my highest ever weight (back in august) I have lost a little but am struggling. Have recently been diagnosed with pcos so could be a contributing factor...

dojo123 · 17/01/2015 16:20

21 somehow I manage to cope on fast days as I think of them as individual diets rather than a long term thing, in the past I haven't managed to stay focussed and about 3 weeks in, made me think 'can't be arsed with this anymore' while reaching for the chocolate bar!

What has changed since I've been on it this year is the possibility of getting pregnant and making healthy choices. I'm only CD16 into my first cycle but I am thinking, what if it has worked first time. I should really look at what I'm eating and drinking.

BeauticianNotMagician81 · 16/01/2015 22:13

Thanks honeysuckle I'm feeling better but stressed out running around after the rest of the family who are now all ill.

I'll try to read back a bit.is anyone else doing weight watchers ?

honeysucklejasmine · 16/01/2015 20:28

I think we are all doing really well!

Sorry to hear about your illness Beaut. Are you feeling better now?

Lauraqc · 16/01/2015 19:50

Hey all - thanks for checking in! I managed to lose 1.5lbs which I'm quite pleased about - usually I only manage about 1lb per week so a bit more is good, and I still feel motivated which is also good! Going to try and be careful over the weekend and not to undo all the hard work this week..! Hope to do a bit more exercise next week too and see if that makes more of a difference!

itssangriaoclock · 16/01/2015 19:48

How did your report go Laura

BeauticianNotMagician81 · 16/01/2015 19:44

Found this thread again. I was ill all over Christmas so probably lost loads of weight but then there was all that left over chocolate so I over indulged.

Been ill on and off ever since and had the d & v bug this week Sad.

Anyway today I joined weight watchers online as I can't get to a class. I will be weighing in every Friday. I've had a good day today but lack willpower.

spamanderson · 16/01/2015 18:55

How did you get on laura?

Back to my tried and trusted calorie counting today, soooo much happier. Although I've only managed to eat 1300 calories :/ just cannot eat any more! Even had a nom nom fried egg sarnie :D I'be really realised over the last couple of days that I'm terrified I'm going to gain a tonne this pregnancy and that I'm not going to have a nice bump this time :( Im only coming up for 6 weeks but my belly is so bloated I look a good 4 months gone already :/ shame about the wobbly apron tum hanging underneath it though :(

Well done to everyone that lost.

That is a really good way to look at it honey already 12% there. Fx for a big loss for you next week.

How do you cope on fast days dojo? I don't know that I would be able to.

Sounds like a sensible plan spam no good getting stressed out about your diet.

How did you do Laura?

I have been so focused on losing weight this last couple of weeks it has relieved some of the ttc pressure I was feeling.

dojo123 · 16/01/2015 14:24

Laura Hope you have lost your 2lbs this week. FX

It's a fast day today so it's been just a yoghurt for lunch. Luckily work is busy so I have been distracted from thinking about food and also TCT.

honeysucklejasmine · 15/01/2015 23:23

Fingers crossed Laura!

Lauraqc · 15/01/2015 22:35

Hi! Sounds like you're all doing well this week! It's my weigh in day tomorrow and I've had a very disciplined week coupled with working massively long hours and not having time to eat much! I'm hoping to lose maybe 2lbs? I'm 13 st 7 too and I've figured I need to weigh 12st flat to get under the magic 30 BMI for IVF - a measly 21 lbs but it sounds like loads to me! Will check in tomorrow with my progress report!

honeysucklejasmine · 15/01/2015 19:27

I did jump on scales this morning in the end and I'm now -12lbs, so pretty pleased!

Well done everyone, we're on our way! (I'm 12% done already!)

itssangriaoclock · 15/01/2015 18:45

Well done everyone. Sounds sensible spam.

I've still got no scales so will weigh in at the weekend when I see the inlaws they have scales.

Fingers crossed

dojo123 · 15/01/2015 17:52

Spam Another one of my "kinda' healthy snacks is popcorn. Not the pre-popped stuff in the bags but the kernels. Just a teasp of oil (we use rapeseed) in the bottom of a pan, cover the bottom with one layer of the corn and cover with a lid. It will pop for longer than you think, don't be tempted to remove to early. We then season with a bit of honey and some cinnamon or paprika and a little salt.

If you are struggling with portion control, the DH and I have moved from using our large dinner plates to using our smaller pasta dishes when serving up our meals, the plate looks fuller with less. Or we make a batch of chili or spag bol and portion it out. Keep one lot in the fridge and freeze the other portions so that we only eat what we have.

I always struggle with salad, find it dull without a dressing or something. We steam alot of veggies or dry fry carrots and courgettes in a pan to soften.

spamanderson · 15/01/2015 17:42

I wish I liked sweet potato. I can't even bear the smell of the sweet root veg like sweet potatoes, squash and the worst vegetable known to man, the parsnip :/ I do only do oven chips so it could be worse, although don't get me wrong I'd much rather have fries from the takeaway but oven chips are at least the healthier alternative :) my issue is I like my 'treats' and we struggle with portion control (ie DH and I are massive piggies!) I'll get there, just not going to beat myself up about it and do my best to eat right, the blessing is that I can eat fruit and salad until it comes out my ears haha!

*you're again... your!!

dojo123 · 15/01/2015 13:03

spam rather than chips could you do sweet potato wedges of is that not going to curb you craving?
I think you're DH and Mum are right, maybe rather than try to diet just look at what you're eating and see if there is a healthy alternative that can satisfy your hunger, not the easiest thing when all you can think of is CAKE!! or in your case CHIPS!

MrsG & 21 Well done!

I snuck in a mid week weigh and I'm now 16st 11, so 3lbs since Monday and 7lbs since the beginning of the month. Think the 5:2 and lots of water is helping.

spamanderson · 15/01/2015 12:10

Wow well done 21

I've maintained this week so I'm still at -4. I've had a good think and chat with hubby and my mum who both agree that I'm stressing out trying to follow a diet and it's not good for the baby so I'm not going to 'diet' during the pregnancy but just watch what I eat, limit treats (treats weren't 'treats' before, just something I'd eat daily!) unfortunately though I'm craving chips drowning in vinegar :/

Well done MrsG!

21, 14 is a stone! Wowee!

21questions · 15/01/2015 06:32

Well done Mrsg Smile

I have lost another 6 this week that makes -14.

My eating habits must have been appalling before I started this Blush

MrsGingerbread · 15/01/2015 06:06

Another lb off for me since Monday. That makes half a stone so far. :) Slow and steady, but I think that's good isn't it?

honeysucklejasmine · 14/01/2015 18:46

Well done Bean! Great!

Good luck tomorrow ladies! I'm not sure I'll join you, what with period and all. I take codeine which bungs me right up so prpb have lbs of poo inside!

Beanbag41 · 14/01/2015 10:23

Good luck today ladies, slimming world has not worked for me..... I've never been under 14 stone on SW. And I'm now 13,13. (V excited about that) Portion control is my issue slimming world doesn't help me with that. The word 'unlimited' and me are not friends!!. I'm having success with cutting sugar, and refined carbs (swapping white to wholewheat pasta etc) and adding healthy fats. My appetite is much smaller now which I'm really happy with. Also sweetners cause me to want to binge just as much as sugar....... PMA ladies we can do this. Xxx
