Well as the title says :) I've chosen the worst time to get my act together and start my diet (again!!) I'm well overweight, in fact in classed as obese so I need to lose a tonne of weight. I know I need to be a healthy weight to conceive so there isn't much more of a motivator than the hope if a BFP :) I'm just counting calories until Christmas Eve (when we have our traditional Xmas eve meal of good old McDonalds!) and then back on track on the 27th when I will be returning to Slimming World.
If anyone fancies joining me, or even just to give me a kick up the arse, feel free :)

Can I join in preparation for TTC? I'm getting married in August and then will hopefully be able to start! Already lost 2 stone (will be 1 1/2 stone lost by the time Christmas is over) and so ready to start again in Jan! All on Slimming World too!

BeauticianNotMagician81 · 23/12/2014 14:09

I like to be able to relax a little on the weekends and hate Monday weigh ins. I would prefer a Thursday or Friday. I need to get a battery for my scale.Desperate to know what I weigh. Think I may have lost some this week as I had a tummy bug and I've hardly eaten a thing with all the Christmas stress

honeysucklejasmine · 23/12/2014 14:00

I'd prefer Monday as then you have a whole new week to change/continue. I think the lure of a weekend after a potentially bad week might be too strong. (remember, no willpower)

tootsroots · 23/12/2014 13:01

Great idea honey

Shall we say Monday 5th or do people want Thurs 1st... which is easier to weigh in on going frward a Mon or Thurs ( or any other day!)

honeysucklejasmine · 23/12/2014 12:48

Yes please! I need to lose about 7 stone to be the average weight for my height. I have !managed to ignore it for hears because I have curves in all the right places but it does occur to me that the curves are simply too big!

Had a mc in sept and it also occurs to me that should I enquire with a Dr for help, the firs thing they will say is "alright, fatty, what do you think is the problem?!" Whilst glaring.

So yes please! I need the support to not cave!

I have done sw in the past (lost 3.5 stone) but turned to food for comfort after traumatic family event and its all gone on again, and brought some friends home too. Hmm

I can to to group as it clashes with an existing commitment but would be happy to do online weigh ins with you lovely ladies. Should we have a post Christmas "start weight" weigh in an then set a weekly time? (Sorry if that's too controlling for some... I have no willpower and need to be held to account.)

tootsroots · 23/12/2014 12:38

Am in!!

I got married 14 months ago, and enjoyed it too much, 2 stone heavier - TTC since Aug but this month was my first Ov i think ( thought itwas last month know better now) so dpo 2 and already reaching for the food in my TWW stress.

I need to lose weight as border line PCOS and have a bad back, so if i do get PG then i need to be fit so it dones hurt.

I joined SW a few months ago but i am not diciplined but i find a 40 hour week at work and XMas, means i have no control at all.

AM about to go for a quick walk to M&S for a lunch salad, MUST stay away frmo the pesto pasta!

bought Scales just now, as i kid myself about how much i do weigh...

FX everyone.

I'm in! aiming for 1.5 stone whilst ttc. Find it especially hard in winter time and really need to get my act together diet/fitness wise. When i've dieted before I found evening carb cutting to be fairly effective so may try that again!

bluewisteria · 22/12/2014 22:25

It's great so many of us are doing this together, welcome ladies!! Great to see you Beautician, thanks for all your lovely words.
Seems like lots of us do Slimming World too.

Rnegray · 22/12/2014 17:09

I'm with you! Need to shed 3 stone. Perfect timing like you. I'm going to wait until 28th Dec, all festivities will be over for me then.

Me and OH both doing Slimming World.

BeauticianNotMagician81 · 22/12/2014 13:58

Hi ladies can I join. Blue pointed me in the direction of this thread.

I am ttc#4. Af arrived today so next month will be cycle 3.

I had ds3 19months ago and still have about two stone to lose to get back to my pre pregnancy weight. I'm not going to be good over Christmas I'm going to indulge in a few naughty foods and definitely make the most of the alcohol now that af has arrived. I will start my weight loss journey as soon as Christmas is over.

Quietlyhopeful81 · 22/12/2014 09:46

Would love to get in on this pretty please, though I have to admit my starting point will be after new year.

A few years ago, I lost 5 stone with slimming world, but have steadily put about 3 1/2 back on since then. We are on cycle 5 ttc now, and apart from the fact that I feel like a blimp, I'm hoping that losing some weight will help us out. I also got engaged a week ago, and we are planning our wedding for summer 2016 so even if we aren't lucky enough to get a bfp by then, I need to sshiftthe excess baggage so I can go wedding dress shopping without feeling like the stay puffed marshmallow man sometime in the future Smile

spamanderson · 22/12/2014 08:45

Hello ladies :)
DH brought selection boxes home :( if there's chocolate on the house I just have to eat it. I can resist anything but chocolate :( it's my big downfall. Looking forward to getting christmas out of the way so I can get the bad food out of my mind. I have been better this year, only 1 Xmas pud bought in ( I normally buy a couple of small ones to have on days after Christmas) no sweets or chocolate that I like bought in for the kids (that way I won't bloomin pinch any!) no biscuits bought and only a couple of cheeses for cheese and biscuits. I have bought a few bits in as we're doing a buffet lunch on Boxing Day for family so once all the leftovers are gone, it's diet time :) full blown diet should commence 27th/28th December :) BFP due 29th-4th Jan depending on this months cycle :)
Nanny pretty much the same as me, but I have 6 stone 11 to lose :/
Don't know how I let myself get like this, I really don't :(

It was positive on a test, and now a negative, so basically an embryo that attached briefly, and for whatever reason didn't take. If your period arrives within 5 days of when it was due it is a chemical preg. If after 5 days then classified as a mc.

itssangriaoclock · 22/12/2014 07:46

Sorry to hear that blue, how do you know was a chemical pregnancy never came across that term before I started reading these threads

bluewisteria · 22/12/2014 07:03

Chem pregnancy this morning BFN, so will be clambering aboard this bus big time in New Year!

itssangriaoclock · 21/12/2014 22:00

Well done nannyGR sounds like your doing amazingly well and should give me some advice pls.

I tired sw a few years ago, only lost 1/2 pound in 3 wks despite following it to the letter. Managed to lose weight on my own after that. Got to my goal weight. Started ttc with ds put on 2 stone. Lost 10lb before conceiving, lost baby weight plus more was only 8lb off goal weight. Now I've started ttc again my weight has rocketed back up. Now stone and half off goal weightHmmConfused know it's the stress and heart ache. Also think I might have temporally been in a bit of a depressive cloud for bout the last 3 or so months. Feeling much brighter now. So need to get my motivation back shred this weight and get my BFP. Need a new year and new start, new me and maybe just maybe a new baby.

NannyGR · 21/12/2014 18:34

Can I join?? Been ttc for nearly 2 years but am seriously overweight :-/ ideally want to lose around 6 stone!! Have joined slimming world and have lost a stone in 3 weeks! Am enjoying it at the moment and am joining the gym in the new year! Am currently undergoing tests and bloods to test for polycystic ovaries!

Orangeisthenewbanana · 21/12/2014 09:16

Wow MrsDee! Congrats on your amazing weight loss and your bfp Smile Chocolate is definitely my biggest downfall, but fortunately I don't really drink a lot of fizzy drinks or alcohol (maybe one bottle of fruity cider on a Friday and Saturday night). Those will definitely be the first things to go! Think my biggest problem apart from lack of opportunity to exercise, is eating too late at night. By the time DH is home, and DD is bathed and in bed, we eat dinner at gone 8pm! Confused Not really sure what to do about that though!

MrsG12345 · 21/12/2014 07:50

I'd really like to join too please. We've been ttc for a year now and I've just worked out my bmi as 29.8. I'm the heaviest I've ever been which isn't a good feeling. Think I'll enjoy myself until Christmas and then after I'll get my arse into gear! We're moving house and have lots of work to do to it so hopefully that will help in terms of the exercise. I've got such a sweet tooth which is my biggest downfall. Fingers crossed we can all lose weight and get pregnant soon! X

Pigriver · 20/12/2014 23:58

I'd like to join too. I have had an amazing year. Got engaged last Christmas and married in June. Spent 3 weeks in summer on honeymoon and have been living it up ever since. Sadly that means I have gained a stone in weight. We have been TTC since may so I'd really like to clean my act up for the new year.
I plan on going to the gym 3 times a week and walking to work twice a week. I am no good at calorie counting and hate being hungry. I don't drink alcohol or fizzy pop but will cut down choc and crisps.

MrsDee01 · 20/12/2014 22:07

Hiya ladies
I lost 5 stone and got my BFP at the beginning of this month after TTC for 2 years . I used the app myfitness pal . Cut out all pop even the diet stuff :( get low on your carbs but still eat complex ones as they will help fill you up . I also tried juicing as I was struggling to get in my 5 a day . I started at 18 stone 18 months ago , pretty much the day I got my BMI to 30 I got pregnant . I just keep thinking how much better my pregnancy would be if I was healthier plus I didn't want any comments from the midwife I have had those for most of my life . Good luck everyone and remember you aren't fat you have fat and fat can be lost xxx

bluewisteria · 20/12/2014 17:11

Btw, how amazing you conceived twice naturally xxx

bluewisteria · 20/12/2014 17:09

Hi Jen,
Ooh yes, I love the SW curry book!! It's heaven!

I think trying different groups is definitely a good call. The first one I joined was brilliant, then we moved and the second was dreadful so I quit. We have since moved again and my new group is amazing!!! There are moments of back stories and emotional explanations as to why people have struggled with weight, but nothing too extreme Grin. Generally they are a real laugh and incredibly supportive.

How many groups do you have access to? You might be able to trial them!

I don't think it matters numbers with mc's, it kinda takes away the romantic ideas of having children! Mine were all prior to my first DD. I was an utter wreck in my pregnancy with her. With my second I was in shock as she just happened! But this time I'm determined to relax and enjoy it once I get to 12 weeks

Jenjenwoo · 20/12/2014 16:51

Hi bluewisteria,

Congratulations on your BFP. I'm so soryy to hear you've had 6 early mc's, I don't know how you've coped. I've only had one and it was awful. I'm hoping these one's are sticky beans for both of us!

I was thinking about slimming world but I have been slight put off by one I used to go to - the women that ran it drove me mad she was so over the top condescending and patronising and as much as I am totally for support and encouragement it was a bit too much as most the women that went spoke at length about relationship issues and family deaths and we once spent 30 mins listening to women cry about how she has over eaten for the last 3 years because her dog died and she's not sure if to get another one!!
I did really enjoy the recipes and weigh ins though so I should really look at joining again especially now we've moved villages.

Have you tried the slimming world butter chicken curry ?? I used to live off it, one of the nicest curries I've ever had.

I'm off to dust off my recipes books xx

bluewisteria · 20/12/2014 11:42

Hi ladies, nice to meet you!!

I can't recommend Slimming World enough- it really helps to have group support, and the emphasis is to eat large amounts of the right things- you will never go hungry!

It is also great as you can carry on whilst pregnant! Even if you don't loose very much, it will keep you in an even keel of healthy mindful eating.

Jen I've just got my faint BFP a few days before AF due. I've had 6 early mc's and two healthy DD's but I understand how nerve wracking it is!

I'm carrying in with Slimming World whilst pregnant. Honestly, check out your local groups, if you have a few near you then try out different ones, some groups have a real buzz about them and are very supportive. It is surprising how some things are really laden with fats and others aren't.
