Well as the title says :) I've chosen the worst time to get my act together and start my diet (again!!) I'm well overweight, in fact in classed as obese so I need to lose a tonne of weight. I know I need to be a healthy weight to conceive so there isn't much more of a motivator than the hope if a BFP :) I'm just counting calories until Christmas Eve (when we have our traditional Xmas eve meal of good old McDonalds!) and then back on track on the 27th when I will be returning to Slimming World.
If anyone fancies joining me, or even just to give me a kick up the arse, feel free :)

That's all free? And you can eat as much as you like? Blimey! Sounds very generous!

I heard baked potato and beans is free? Is that true? They are quite forgiving on what you can have then!

honeysucklejasmine · 05/01/2015 09:44

Pasta is all good Jelly, tuck in! But bread is pretty limited (2 slices from a mini loaf and no further fibre e.g. cereal unless you use syns).

Just had breakfast. Had two quorn sausages (free), 2 rashers of bacon with all fat cut off (free), one egg (free) fried with fry light (this is syns I think...it was in the past 1 syn per spray, but might have changed) one mushroom (free) and baked beans (free)! So yeah, if I had poached the egg instead of frying it (my poaching pan is in the dishwasher) then the whole meal would have been free. Which means I can scoff the lot, as much as I want!

jellypi3 · 05/01/2015 09:17

I do eat a lot of bread and pasta. It's hard to cut out when DP cooks pasta bake for dinner lol!

honeysucklejasmine · 05/01/2015 09:17

Jelly its great for me because I struggle with portion size, so I love having free foods which I can eat until I burst! Wink I did it years ago so have all the books etc. But general rule is lean meat, fresh fruit and fresh and frozen veg are free, along with rice and pasta etc? Things which are limited are fibre and dairy, and things which will cost you "syns" are sugary and fatty.

honeysucklejasmine · 05/01/2015 09:15

I will post some recipes later on when I am using the computer, so its a bit easier. But I have to say avoiding bread like the plague has been good. I am addicted to it so going cold turkey is good. There for cracking lunch and breakfast was hard. As I wasn't at work it was easier to cook something, but work starts again tomorrow so not sure. (I am a self employed "contractor", I get a timetable today of where and when they need me, start at different times each day.)

Also, as mentioned, I am vaguely intolerant to eggs so if I try to eat them every day I know all about it!

I am going to make some slimming world style ketchup today, as it is so sugary from a bottle. And make some jelly for a sugar fix in the evenings.

jellypi3 · 05/01/2015 09:10

that's fab :) i should try out slimming world! is it good?

bluewisteria · 05/01/2015 09:07

That's brilliant Honey!!! Do post any recipes/meal plans!

I actually lost 3.5 lbs over Christmas but have had lots of people staying and parties over New Year, and I feel like it has gone back on!

LakeOfDreams · 05/01/2015 09:07

Wow honey that's an amazing result! Well done you

honeysucklejasmine · 05/01/2015 09:02

Thanks ladies! Blush

I do slimming world style Jelly and try to avoid any syns at all. Lots of salad for lunch and lean meat.

Plus, I am very heavy!

jellypi3 · 05/01/2015 08:56

omg that's amazing honey !!! How have you managed that!!

Beanbag41 · 05/01/2015 08:51

Brilliant honey!!! Wowza.

honeysucklejasmine · 05/01/2015 08:48

spamanderson · 05/01/2015 08:47

I'm going to try to be good again today :/ yesterday I started off well but we had to go to tesco and my aversion to certain foods and 'oh my god what is that smell, I must eat whatever is making it' has started. Tesco had these amazing flavoured loaves of fresh bread in. They looked and smelled so good I was practically salivating. Ended up buying 2 small loaves (and I mean small) and ate one for my dinner. They had some christmas cupcakes reduced to 38p for 2 and dd1 was crazing for them and pack of donuts :/ I had a bite of the cupcake, couldn't eat any more, had a bite of a donut and again couldn't eat more than a bite. We even had chocolate out and didn't even touch it, normally I practically inhale chocolate I stuff it in so quick. So maybe this pregnancy is going to be what I need to actually lose weight ;) Clearblue digi shows me at 4-5 weeks pregnant now :D
Got some lovely yogurts in and tonnes of posh salad leaves and stuff that I can't wait to eat today.... Although there is still one of the small loaves left in the kitchen calling my name! Must be good today Spam!
Well done to everyone sticking to their healthy eating a tonne better than I have!

I try and have a big, carb free brekkie (I still have veg/fruit), seems to set me up for the day....... Avocado and bacon(any meat really), smoked salmon and eggs, Apple slices with peanut butter, nuts. As long as it's protien and healthy fat I'm happy and full until 1pm and I make good choices at lunch. If I have a carb brekkie (even porridge) I'm hungry and craving 'naughty' things by 11. Spent the last few years noticing how I react to things, sugar is my big thing..... I have pcos too (maybe that's why)..... Hope you're all doing ok!!! Off to have black pudding and eggs ;) xx

Lauraqc · 04/01/2015 23:00

I saw that recipe for breakfast muffins - basically egg with other stuff baked in muffin tray - means you can make a batch of them!

I tend to have special K or bran flakes with a banana and an actimel. Or fruit salad with yogurt poured over...sometimes some chopped dried fruit or nuts too...

cloudjumper · 04/01/2015 21:58

lake Eggs are good for breakfast, they fill you up nicely! Scrambled egg with wholemeal toast, and you could try and add things like tomatoes, spring onions etc to the egg for more flavour.

cloudjumper · 04/01/2015 21:55

Can I join?!

Ideally, I would like to lose 2st and get my BMI back into the healthy range (currently 30). Very annoyed - managed to lose 2.5st doing WW back in 2012, but since then, I have had 4 miscarriages, which have been anything but good for my weight! DH and I love good food, but my problem is and has always been portion control and snacking, as well as my very sweet tooth... And I've been really slack with exercise in the last few months, so the pounds have piled on.
My first goal is to lose 1st 8lb until March, which is when we will be going skiing - really need to do that, otherwise I won't fit into my ski pants Confused.

The new/old regime started today - I use My Fitness Pal to count the calories, as I don't want to re-join WW at this point (although tentatively considering SW). Went for my first run in 10 weeks today - it went OK, but I took it very easy. The aim is to go for a run 3x/week, do Bodypump at the gym 2x/week and I want to try and do some yoga at home with a DVD 1-2x/week. Aiming to lose 2 lbs/week, which should be possible, as long as I can stay focussed.

LakeOfDreams · 04/01/2015 20:39

Good luck to all those of you starting tomorrow.

I'm looking for some cheap easy breakfast ideas. At the moment it's just oatibix or porridge with fruit but I'm finding it a bit dull and tasteless and wondered what others are eating?

Pigriver · 04/01/2015 19:19

Finally plucked up the courage to get weighed properly today at boots. Used SiLs scales last week and although it wasn't good news it wasn't as bad as expected. Well I had a shock today! Half a stone more than I thought and my body fat was 34.9% which is classed as poor.
Started healthy eating on New Year's Day and this is the motivation I need to keep me on track.
Meal planned for the whole week and went shopping. 2 days walking and 4 days gym each week. Hopefully I can start to shift some of this weight!

honeysucklejasmine · 04/01/2015 18:23

I am at the panto with my brownies. Try are eating so many sweets! All my favourites!

Orangeisthenewbanana · 04/01/2015 18:03

Walking not walying!

Orangeisthenewbanana · 04/01/2015 18:03

Starting tomorrow here too, though have a healthy tea tonight. Also going back to work tomorrow so that makes it easier for me to eat better, as I'm on the go all day.

Going for small changes to begin with - exercise bike every other day, no fizzy pop/cake, less chocolate, smaller portions and less carbs, takeaway once a month not fortnightly, more walying where I can
Fortunately DH is also wanting to lose about a stone so he's on board too Smile

McFunky I was taking folic acid from May/June last year (started ttc July). Last 2 months have been taking Seven Seas Trying For a Baby.

booboobeedoo11 · 04/01/2015 16:00

Last night of cheese and chocolates for me! Last blow out before I kick ass of the fitness and diet kind haha. Funny how i'm really looking forward to it at the moment...come wednesday the novelty will prob have worn off and I will be one grumpy cow!

McFunky · 04/01/2015 15:36

I'm starting tomorrow, back to work and into a routine. I have overindulged the past couple of weeks so I'm looking forward to eating healthily. I hope I can stay focussed!
I've bought an exercise bike which is due this week, I plan to do half an hour each day and in the better weather I'll go for walks/runs.

We're not ttc til later this year but I want to be at least 3 stone lighter. I'm excited to think of where we'll be this time next year!

Is anyone taking prenatal vitamins, when did you start?

Hello to all the newcomers to the thread.

Jelly I don't envy you. I have a copy of the 30 day shred and I hated it. A couple of years ago I did the workouts religiously and I did see results but I dreaded doing it so much I just can't face it anymore.

I'm trying hula hooping with a weighted hoop. Quite enjoying it at the moment doing about 30 mins each day. Hope I see good results.

Looking forward to weigh in, we are not ttc this month dh recovering from an operation so healthy eating has become my new obsession this month.
