No Siarie, he is a good mover. But I have a friend from university who was 34 weeks pregnant and went to see her midwifejust for a check up. Everything was fine. It was lunchtime and the midwife asked her if she could go back that afternoon for something be ause the nurse had gone off on lunch. GP surgery was literally at the end of her street. She went back an hour later and they could not find the heart beat. Literally it had been there an hour earlier and was gone an hour later.

Like Ducky she had to go through a labour in the hospital. She had three miscarriages as well and a baby born with his intestines ouside his abdomen who needed an operation at birth. He is as fit as a flea now - he is 8- and she has 2 other healthy children from normal pregnancies.

I have another friend who had 14 miscarriages and in the end adopted. She was 35 when she got married and had them in 5 years.

So true ducky, a friend of ours had a baby 'die' while actually under observation in the hospital. They knocked the mother out, did an EMCS and saved the baby. She was due the same time as DD and I was terrified after that!

So sorry cupcake :( Flowers. Your time will come.

Ducky23 · 23/12/2014 18:01

Sorry cupcake Sad what happens next? Do you have to go back?hope DH is looking after you Thanks

Siarie I had a private scan at 24 weeks with dd where the blood flow and everything was fine Confused a friend of mine lost her baby a couple of weeks later, she was 38 weeks, she went in with reduced movements, had a scan and everything was ok but they wanted her back in the next day for more monitoring and they were going to induce her the day after, she went in the next day to find he had passed in the night Sad it just shows even if you get monitored and it's all ok, you should stay at hospital/go back as soon as until you are happy with everything Sad

Cupcake92 · 23/12/2014 17:50

Thanks everyone. Just sucks it's happened twice in a row :( didn't think it would happen again. Thought I'd already had my go. But hey can't do anything now.

And Ducky that sounded awful! Flowers

That's so helpful! Honestly you might not realise it but it is. I've been well and truly whacked from the inside, in fact I got hit so hard last night I threw my hands out and jerked in shock!

I had my blood flow checked at the 20 week scan as I have my thyroid problems. Apparently it's not routine, do you think maybe if they had checked yours it might have shown up?

I would find it hard to move on from that midwife but you're right it wouldn't have changed anything.

Lulu have you ever been concerned about movements?

Ducky23 · 23/12/2014 17:40

Oh and they have since changed their policy (I don't know if it's just for the area or anything further) that any one with an anterior placenta that says the movements have changed/reduced must be sent straight for a scan and monitoring, they didn't do this before my dd apparently, they would just check the HB.

Ducky23 · 23/12/2014 17:16

At first lulu I hated the midwife so much, I considered legal action but then thought I didn't want anything to affect care in future pregnancies and also didn't think legal action would achieve anything as i wasn't after money or anything. I have found out after the midwife has had numerous complaints made about her and most people at the surgery she works at refuse to see her. And also, the midwife who was covering has been so so good to me and stayed with me after dd and has been my midwife throughout this pg, she saw me multiple times after her hours when I was worried and even spent hours sat in hospital with me when she wasn't working if I had reduced movements or was worried.

Siarie it wasn't a massive chane in movements, the movements I felt were quite small from the first time
I felt her, with ds it was completely different, I don't know if it was due to the different positions of the placenta or maybe just because ds was healthy and getting what he needed in there. They said dd was very small aswell because of the placenta failing slowly so raft would have affected how strong her movements were too Sad

Siarie · 23/12/2014 16:55

I know it's upsetting but it's also so helpful, you just don't know what's going on in there you know? Would you say the movements reduced dramatically? From say kicks to just feeling her floating?

You're right that no one should have to go through that, it sounds horrible but I'm one for being realistic. I have an anterior placenta too, although it's high and so far I've felt movement so that's been ok.

I really think it's important to keep aware, I kind of feel prepared for the worst? It must have been terrible for you, I'm not surprised they checked you often.

LuluJakey1 · 23/12/2014 16:45

Oh Ducky, that is heart-breaking. Are you not angry with that first midwife? Did she get into trouble for that? It is just awful.

So sorry Cupcake. You were so excited about being pregnant. Did they say anything about what happens next? Do you have to go back?

We have had PIL, SIL and grandmas here today- they have set off back to Yorkshire now. The baing went down well and DH was on his best form- they just love him to bits. MIL too one look at me and said 'That baby is very low down now Lulu- can't see you going aother 2 weeks'. DH is in panic mode now- hospital bag in hall and he has gone to fill the car with petrol. Ha rang once while he is out. Honestly!

Good advice from grandmas about how to start labour. Hmm
' Lie on the floor on your back and pedal a pretend bike Lulu. That'll get you going.'
'They used to say sex would start you off but I've never set much store by sex for anything.' That one caused giggles. Grin

Baby has some lovely clothes now! Picture of sleepsuit attached. Aww!

I haven't felt great today. I couldn't get comfortable last night- stomach pains and have been back and forward to the loo today. Feel really tired. Am going to have a early night.

Siarie, will answer your question but just wanted to put a warning that it might be upsetting for some people to read so be warneedddd and don't read if you get too worried about things/might get upset

I was 32 weeks. Since my 28 week appointment I had been telling my midwife at the time that she wasn't moving much. The midwife brushed it off and said it was normal as she was my first and I had an anterior placenta. She then went to listen to the heartbeat and it took her a while to find it, it sounded wrong. It was slow and quiet. I said that to her but she said it was normal. As she was the midwife and it was my first I had no idea so trusted her. I then went to my 32 week appointment and someone was covering for my normal midwife. She tried to find the heartbeat and struggled, then I heard the same as last time but she said that was my heart beat Sad she sent me straight to the hospital for an emergency scan where they confirmed that my baby's heart had stopped beating. I was then given lots of tablets to and told to come back in two days to be induced. I went into labor myself the day after whih was horrendous as I had to go to the normal labor ward. I remember hearing babies being born in the next room and when my baby was born the room was silent, there was no screaming, just quiet Sad

I was then allowed to dress her and spend some time with her, I was given her hand and foot prints and a memory box and then I said goodbye to her so she could be taken away for a post mortem. She was later cremated and buried with my nan.

They never found any cause for what what happened, they said it was 'just bad luck' that my placenta failed. They couldn't say whether it was likely to happen again that's why they kept such a close eye on me this time. they did confirm that my dd had passed away inside me around 28 weeks so she had already gone when I said there was something wrong but I was still feeling slight movements as she would move in her waters when I did.Sad

I would just say if EVER you notice ANY change in movements at all or even if you just feel there's something not right call the hospital and go there. Don't take no for an answer. It was the worse time of my life and no one should have to go through that Sad
sorry for the long post.

Siarie · 23/12/2014 15:26

Ducky this might be a really sensitive subject for you, but do you mind telling me when your first pregnancy ended in stillborn? I'm so aware of the risks that I have never assumed that I'll be getting a baby at the end of this. Every kick is reassuring to me, so I was wondering when things went wrong for you week wise? And what happened

Ducky23 · 23/12/2014 15:15

Oh cupcake I am so so sorry Sad was really hoping it was good news for you x
