Thanks guys. It pissed me off because of how stressed I have been about it all. I said haven't you had a bloody cold in your life!? You were breastfed!

The dr said he has a bit of a high temp and his got something on his chest so he has anti biotics now Smile

Siarie · 21/01/2015 10:33

Obviously there is a small increase in immunity with breast milk but lots of people can't breastfeed or don't want to breastfeed and there is no way of knowing whether that extra bit of immunity would make any difference in this case. Just in case anyone is interested in the science lol.

Siarie · 21/01/2015 10:30

Ducky it's rubbish, the most likely reason your son has a cold is because he's been back and forth to the GP! The amount of cold and flu in there and he will pick it up easily. Honestly some people really can't put two and two together.

If anyone said that to me they'd get a colourful reply!

Cupcake92 · 21/01/2015 10:26

That's complete BS Ducky, she shouldn't have said that. Babies just have poor immune systems, they will catch all sorts. I hope he improves very quickly

Lil I wouldn't worry about being organised. Took delivery of the travel system, car seat and baby carrier yesterday. Only 14 weeks to go and lots of things take ages to arrive. In fact we ordered a high hair at Christmas and it said ten weeks! Still waiting now.

We've done all the changing stuff, feeding, bath and toiletries, hammock. I just need to sort the cotbed for when she's 6 months and more clothes/towels/muslin squares that sort of thing. Oh and change our car and pack the hospital bags.

When you consider babies can arrive at 37 weeks and not be early that only leaves 10/11 weeks before you want to be 100% ready (for me anyway as I'm 26+2.

Cupcake92 · 21/01/2015 06:08

Aaww u have a lovely content baby Lulu :) and they do get worse as they get older Grin sorry to tell u that! DS is an absolute pain since he turned 1! I struggle to get him to eat, that's the biggest thing he won't eat anymore. And his tantrums are so bad! The naughty corner is used a lot in our house atm Grin

Lila it's good that ur organised! :) and I didn't know u could get oil to soften to prevent tearing! I must get that for next time as I hope to have a natural birth! I'd have been due 4th April if we didn't loose the 1st baby, I find that crazy how far gone I'd be now.

Next door have got a washing machine on! There's this loud noise been going on for an hour now! It's so so irritating! And I'm trying to get DS to fall back to sleep again for a few hours lol!

Tmi but the past about 4/5 day ive been so constipated BlushBlushBlush probably why ive been so bloated! But sadly I don't think any of these are linked to pregnancy. Still think AF is about to come im 1 day late now. Waiting for my tests to come today, should arrive about 11.

Aww Steph, what a lovely idea the box for DH is!
We went to mothercare today with a gift card that DP got from his boss when he left his job in Bristol. We got loads of things ready for the baby's arrival (even though he's not due for another 3 months!) We got a breastfeeding starter kit with breast pump, bottles, dummies and steriliser, a thermometer, maternity pads, breast pads, nappies and some perineal oil to soften the old perineum (v scared of tearing!). Very early I know, but I like to be prepared!
We also tried out some of the prams and changing bags. I'm so excited I don't know how I'll manage to wait until April!!

LuluJakey1 · 20/01/2015 21:07

Ducky, we took ready made formula with us and he will drink it at room temperature. He was fine.
Elizabeth loved him. He sat on her knee quite happily for ages on Sunday.
He is a very easy baby so far. I feel like we may be being lulled into a false sense of security and now he has got us where he wants us he will suddenly start and we will be useless. Smile We will be ruled over by a small baby.

LuluJakey1 · 20/01/2015 20:59

Poppet, I started with backache and just could not get comfortable. It was evening and I had a hot shower and went to bed which eased it for a littlebit but then it got worse. I thought I was having Braxton Hicks and got up to have. another shower during the night about half 1 ish. My waters broke as I got out of the shower, all over DH's feet.
I stayed at home for a few hours and by the time we went to the hospital about 5 ish I was 6-7 cms. It is weird but we have already forgotten little details about it all.
I ended up managing with gas and air which came as a huge surprise to me - it was too late for an epidural by the time I asked- because I was sure I would need all the pain relief going. The midwife was great. I spent most of labour walking around and I think that helped. There was some swearing at DH near the end when I had a little panic but it was all soon under control again. The person who whined most was DH when I squeezed his hand too hard. Grin
It was not as bad as I feared at all. Once it started it just sort of happened. I think I was quite lucky really judging from some of the horror stories I have heard.

Cupcake92 · 20/01/2015 20:46

Oh my gosh lots of babies due to arrive! How exciting!! Grin

N yes poppet u need to be ready !! :p I went into early labour at 32 weeks! N mine started with backache :)

Pg tests arrive in the morning so I'll test tomorrow. Don't think im pg at all. I'm just bloated n sore bbs so im guessing AF is about to show!

Hmmm yeah I thought we were being a bit relaxed !! I finish work this Friday and booked a haircut next week so hopefully can squeeze that in !!

iamdivergent · 20/01/2015 18:58

Yeah id def start getting organised! I had DD1 at 38 wks, no real notice and only 6.5hr labour Grin

Ducky23 · 20/01/2015 18:43

Omg poppet get organised! Haha Grin sorry I can't help with that question, I was induced both times... Kind of. With dd they think it was probably the stress that started it off, it started as mild period pains. That probably doesn't help tho! Grin

Ducky23 · 20/01/2015 18:37

Thanks guys. He's still got a cough although it's improved from yesterday bit he is very wheezy and snuffly.

Steph your DH is lucky! I left my husband to fend for himself! I paid the price when I got back from hospital tho Hmm
Thats a lovely idea about the box Smile

Iam I think there's a lot going about at te moment! Think I am catching ds cold Confused

Lulu, sounds like you had a lovely day. How do you do your formula when your out and about? What did dh's old lady friend think of ds when she came the other day?

poppet85 · 20/01/2015 18:37

What symptons do you mummies have that labour was around the corner ? I am 37 weeks today still working do everything that I normally would . The nursery isnt done nor are the bags (literally just need to finish a few bits promise!) . Me and dh just dont feel like its happening anytime soon and I am just thinking I probably need to jump it up a gear !

LuluJakey1 · 20/01/2015 18:29

Nice to hear how you are doing Lill. Sorry about the SPD.
Gosh Bear and Steph hasn't it all gone quickly for everyone.

DS arrived a week early almost so you need to be ready Smile

Glad to hear DS is feeding well Ducky. I love the idea he is a Duckling.

I went up to town yesterday and left DS with DH- who is on paternity leave. It felt very odd but I enjoyed myself. DH sent me two photos of what DS was doing . I shopped and treated myself to a nice coffee and cake. It was lovely. Smile But I was glad to get home to them both!

We have been on a long walk today - 4 miles along the seafront, had lunch in a little coffee shop and Ds had his bottle and we and got the train home to our station. It was cold but really fresh and good exercise. It was his first meal out. He had lots of attention from old ladies in the coffee shop and seemed to like it. DH got lts of attention from them too- old ladies always like him.

iamdivergent · 20/01/2015 14:49

lil sorry! autocorrect changes if as my friends daughter is lili Grin

iamdivergent · 20/01/2015 14:48

Don't think it's likely I've caught this month, we only dtd 4 times in Jan and af due in 3 days! between various bought of illness we've not felt up for it at all!

nice to see you back lili

steph1204 · 20/01/2015 13:12

I did exactly the same Bears :D
The room is ready, my hospital bag too, and now I'm cooking in order for DH to have enough food ready when I'll be in the hospital :)
I also did a small box for DH - it's hidden and I'll told him about that only when he'll be home after the birth. I put some presents in it, like DVDs, MM&S, cola, games, baby stuff, etc and a small card explaining that the future dad also deserve attention considering the patience he had and the efforts he made during the last few months :)
I'm due exactly in one month (20/02) and I can't wait to meet my little boy!

FX for you cupcake!
And I really hope everything will be all right with DS soon Ducky!

Hope duckling is feeling better soon Ducky Flowers

I'm at home today, had a horrible sore throat in the night and decided to call in sick. It's been a busy week - midwife took extra bloods as I'm low on iron, sent me to the hospital to check movements and got recalled to GPs due to high white blood cell count. All turned out fine!

Spent the weekend organising things for DS arrival. Bed is ready, hospital bag packed, DD chose a dinosaur toy for him! Am nearly 35 weeks, I need to feel ready! although still slightly panicking
