KitKat30 · 13/10/2006 10:12

Hey PinkB - dunno, think I'm just imagining symptoms to be honest... More a case of wanting to be pg than actually being pg!!

PinkButterfly · 13/10/2006 10:01

Hey Kitkat, how are you today ? See from the October thread that you have been experiencing light-headedness and queasyness - ooohhh - fingers crossed !!!

Hi KitKat30 - No, not yet as missed the boat this month (DH not around at critical time!!) It should be game on early next month!

KitKat30 · 12/10/2006 14:10

Hello, hello - welcome! Are you on the dreaded 2ww too?

JoeTwoTies · 12/10/2006 14:02

Hello! Have decided to try as of NOW for bambino 3, so would be great to cycle along too!!

KitKat30 · 12/10/2006 13:53

Hello - was wondering where you got to!

We moved in together after 6 months, which was quite early for me (not as early as you!) - I think when you know, you know! Happy anniversary for this week?

I?m 33 soon after xmas as well ? keep thinking of myself as 32, forget I?m closer to 33!! I think what will be, will be ? there?s so much luck involved that we?ve really got to try and stop stressing. Easier said than done I know?

I?ve always wanted to freelance, but I like the security of a permanent job. Think I will definitely consider it should I get pg and am finding it difficult to go back to work full time. Ideally I?d like to go back part-time ? but employers are never keen on that are they?

LOL at calling AF ?the old bag?!!

MrsMcJnr · 12/10/2006 13:41

Afternoon ladies! I've been really busy this morning so this is my first chance to catch up!

I like the idea of being a stay at home Mum but do not know whether or not I'd like it in reality, my sis finds it really hard to cope with the baby talk all day and it is much harder than actually going out to work isn't it!? Doubt we'll ever be able to cope financially without us both working anyway - got too used to our lifestyle.

I am on the Nov thread as AF not due now until 3/11. Get's lonely on there sometimes!

Thanks for the tip about the website KitKat, I shall have a look.

I met my DH at work too KitKat. He was my WPF (work place fantasy!) It was all very innocent at first, just a good reason to put my lipstick on each day but then I realised that he was a great guy inside too and I had a flash thought that if I was with him, I would be happy for the rest of my life! Cheesy but true. We got together 5 years ago (almost to the day) and moved in together after 3 weeks - he only got round to proposing last year though and we got married in June. LOVE being married!!

We are both 32 but I am 33 in December and hate the thought that I might get to 33 without even the hint of a bump . BUT that is not the attitude, I have 2 more chances before then!

Glad to hear your Mum is on the mend PinkButterly - had a cancer scare with my Dad so know how awful it feels. His was kidney so he just has the one now but seems to be ok.

I work as a legal recruitment consultant. I am actually a lawyer myself but wanted to try setting up a company and running it to see how entrepreneurial I am (not very ) I work for a board of directors so I have the freedom without the fear - well, I still have a lot of fear but that wasn't the plan!! I miss the banter of working with colleagues though - you can't beat a giggle at work!

Really sounds like you might have cracked it this cycle PB - will be waiting very impatiently for your testing next week!! (or the following Monday if you can hold out!! ) Babydust to you too KitKat - it's not over until the old bag pitches up!!

KitKat30 · 12/10/2006 12:31

Yes v sunny here in central London. Where are you?

PinkButterfly · 12/10/2006 11:30

How do you know it's sunny where I am ??? Take it that it is where you are ???

OP posts:
KitKat30 · 12/10/2006 11:18

Enjoy the sunshine!

PinkButterfly · 12/10/2006 11:06

Well not everyone has symptoms before a BFP and some with symptoms they think are a sign end up with a BFN - so you never know. I'll keep everything crossed for you that AF doesn't arrive! We will continue to chat here anyway whether or not you are joining other thread this month. Going to get my butt moving and go out for a while shortly - too easy just to spend days chilling at home (& sitting on MN all day)! Speak soon. x

KitKat30 · 12/10/2006 10:55

Sorry - that should have been Hoping for a pos in NOVEMBER! Doh!

KitKat30 · 12/10/2006 10:54

Well AF is due 21st-23rd, so I guess that Mon? I?m pretty sure I?m not though, so don?t feel too much pressure to test. If I had a vague suspicion I was, I think the wait would be unbearable! I?d probably be testing every day! I think the Hoping for a positive in October thread might be more likely?

PinkButterfly · 12/10/2006 10:35

Yeah, still feeling out of sorts and queasy but really trying not to get too positive. Telling myself that these are likely to be symptoms of something else. Think if I'd had these the last time and hadnt been pregnant I would be less likely to be reading so much into them this time! Ah well, only another 9 days or so and all will be revealed though to be honest don't think I'll manage to wait that long if I continue to feel off colour. I have the Predictor early test which you can do 10dpo which would be next Wed/Thurs though really want to try and wait until the following Monday - but can I ?? Maybe AF will have arrived in the meantime and provide an answer for me. What day will you best testing if AF hasn't arrived ? Joined the Hoping for a positive in October thread this morning - are you going to join that one too ? x

KitKat30 · 12/10/2006 10:20

Glad to hear your mum's in recovery.

Ahhh childhood sweethearts! I'm an old romantic at heart...have read too much Jane Austen for my own good!

We dont work together anymore - I work in marketing for a kids charity. I know I moan about my job - but it's OK really. I work with some really nice people, all of similar ages/interests etc, so it's not that bad.

How are your symptoms today? Still feeling positive?

PinkButterfly · 12/10/2006 09:52

oh its fine Kitkat - mum had surgery to remove lung tumour and has been given an all clear of a kind so just going through the recovery process which is taking some time but she will get there. She had breast cancer 9 years ago so we have been here before - we have just been so lucky both times.

Yes DH and I were 19 when we got together. We had known each other since we were nine (went to school together) and had an on/off courtship of a kind throughout primary and secondary school. Went our seperate ways after secondary school but ended up back on each others path - fate I suppose!!

Havent ever been in a relationship with a work collegue but did have a fancy for someone once - does make your day more interesting and makes you take such an effort in your appearance (never looked so hot going to work!). Do you still work together ? What is it you both do ?

KitKat30 · 12/10/2006 09:39

Oh hon, really sorry to hear about your mum ? must have been devastating for you and the family. But you?re right ? I?m def with you on the work/life balance. For all my moaning, I do enjoy working, but it will never be as important as my family. If there was a choice between the two?! Well, no contest really.

WOW ? 13 years! That?s fantastic ? you must have been teenagers when you met? Was it love at first sight??

My DH and I worked together and it was a very gradual thing ? friends for ages, when it suddenly dawned on me that I actually quite fancied him. Def made work more interesting!

PinkButterfly · 12/10/2006 09:07

Good morning KitKat! I've already been lurking on MN for about an hour now just catching up on some threads since last night! Completely addictive all this!

Yes, I do quite enjoy being at home. Was a SAHM for DS1's first year or so then went back to work part time for a year then full time for two years then was a SAHM again for two years with DS2 then went back to work for 18 months part time. Only gave up my job a few months ago as the part time was turning into more than full time and I was working every night until midnight most nights and after 9 months of it it was getting too much. My mother was diagnosed with cancer in June and I was her main carer - it just made me realise that life was just too short to spend it working all the hours that god sent and my family was suffering so I chucked it! Must admit we are pretty skint now but my home certainly runs much better, my kids are happier and we have everything we need (just not so many luxuries).

Ok nosey parker - my DS and I have been together for 13 years and married for four of them.

Well there you have my life history!!! (well you did ask - lol).

Morning girls...yawn another day in the office - the thought of 9 months maternity leave is just too fab!

Very jealous that you're at home PinkB! How do you find it? Do you miss work at all? I don't know what I'll be like - at the minute I think I'd like to go back after 9-12 months, but you just have no idea what you'll feel like when thay baby comes along!

MrsMcJnr - have a look on the DWP website, it has all the info about SMPay. It says to get SMP you must have been:

  • Employed by your employer into the qualifying week which is the 15th week before the week your baby is due.
  • Employed by the same employer without a break for at least 26 weeks into the 15th week before the week your baby is due. Part weeks count as full weeks.

But our policy at work says that you can claim SMP regardless of when you started. So I think it just depends on the company...not really something you can ask in an interview though!! Fingers crossed your job lasts till then anyway. Think you're right about not putting things on hold - you could end up waiting forever.

Dying to know more about you both, so I'm just going to be really nosey! How long you've been with your DH? My husband and I have been together for about 8 years, married for nearly 4 of those. Can't believe it's taken us this long to start thinking about kids really...

PinkButterfly · 11/10/2006 20:37

Hello Ladies - just logged on for a mo while I make some supper! I am lucky in that I just recently gave up my job and can sit at home all day on MN if I wish however feel I am neglecting my 2 children sometimes chatting/reading about subjects to do with having another babe!! Happy to have started this thread though and "meeting" you both. Think KitKat and I should join October thread too!! Catch you both tomorrow. x

MrsMcJnr · 11/10/2006 20:04

Hi Kitkat, well here I am again, meant to be doing the work I didn't do today but..........!

I work on my own so I don't have to worry about anyone seeing the sign! Slightly worried that my job might not last me until maternity leave though, it's a start up company and I am their biggest cost. Not a great time to be moving job when you are TTC. I believe that you need to be in a job before you are 3 months pregnant to qualify for stat mat pay but then again, I am NOT putting TTC on hold. What will be will be!

Sorry, re BBT. Yes, I do temp and I find it really interesting. It also teaches me to be rational e.g. you think AF is coming, you try and convince yourself it isn't but if your temp starts dropping you know you are not pg (once you have lost the hope that it is an implantation dip that is!!)

Hope your AF doesn't show up at all!

KitKat30 · 11/10/2006 17:45

Know what you mean about logging on at work - keep having to turn my screen so no-one can see the big Mumsnet sign!! (My internet surfing paid off today though - Statutory maternity pay increases to 39wks - from 26wks - after 1st Apr 07, which is great news. Prob old news, but new to me!)

BBT - basal temperature which you take every day I think? Where are you in your cycle - I'm waiting patiently for AF to arrive (due in a couple of weeks - boo)

At least these boards mean that we can let off a bit of steam to people who know what's what, rather than unloading on DHs who are under enough pressure to perform!

Just wish I could fast forward 6mths to see what happens...

Anyway am at home now looking forward to a nice eve of crap TV take my mind off things!

Have a good eve both, chat in the morning!

MrsMcJnr · 11/10/2006 16:36

I am on this site far too much for my own good - I do have a job but am so obsessed that I stalk this site most of the day and then have to work like a trojan to catch up

KitKat - the control thing is big with me. DH thinks TTC is a good lesson for me because I cannot influence the outcome (well, not much!)

I am on my 4th cycle of charting. I like knowing where I am in a cycle and what is going on. I find that less stressful than not knowing. BBT stuff? what's that?

I kept all the TTC stuff to myself for the first 2 cycles. DH wanted a baby but did not want to know any of the ins and outs but by the 3rd cycle of him saying he was too tired or rejecting my advances just when I needed him to succumb, I told him about fertile phases and not to reject me etc because it was stressing me out! He understands it all a bit better now.

Pinkbutterfly - never feel unworthy of joining the monthly threads. Whilst there are a lot of people who have been here a while, there are lots of newbies every month too and it is good for everyone as it brings in fresh hope, new ideas and enables us all to support each other. Most of us have learnt tons from Mumsnet.

Nice to meet you both!

PinkButterfly · 11/10/2006 16:14

Hi MrsMcJnr. I have seen you on other threads and on the hoping for pos oct thread. Was going to join you there but at one point you were discussing areas I have no experience in and could see some of your had been trying for a while so felt a bit unworthy (?!) and silly obsessing in my first month ttc.

Know what you mean KitKat - some days I felt like I was begging for it (sorry tmi ) and my husband said ... now you know what it feels like for me the majority of the time! .
