For anyone TTC or thinking about TTC with Soy Isoflavones

Disneylandkilledmychildhood · 23/10/2014 21:18

I will be starting soy isoflavones tomorrow, cd 3.

This will be my 11th cycle TTC, with two chemical pregnancies/ early miscarriages @ about 5weeks so far this year already.

I've read up quite a lot on SI, and just at the point now where I'm thinking, what the hell, I'll give it a go!

Anybody else TTC with soy isoflavones?

Unfortunately AF arrived for me today after 6 days of spotting! However I did take a very low dose of the Soy only 40mg a day for the 5 days. It must have done something though because I ov'd 3 days earlier than normal and I got a positive opk on the cheap strip one's that had never showed me a positive result before.

On to the next cycle now and will start taking on Wednesday CD3, starting at 120mg and gradually build up, then take the maximum amount of 200mg on CD7.

NewLeaf Can you get the Soy online?

NewLeafExpat · 27/10/2014 16:58

time to search all shops in Asia and buy me some soy! long cycles and pretty sure I'm not ovulating ... Good luck to all ladies. I'm going to find SI and wait out AF ... (cd50 And counting today...)

Disneylandkilledmychildhood · 27/10/2014 13:42

How is everyone doing today? I'm on 4th day of SI (cd6) and feeling nauseous and like I generally do pre-period... Has anyone else had this side effect?

Also, anyone close to poas and hopefully getting their bfp yet?

They didn't work for me first cycle, I'm now on cycle 3 with soy and I'm going to do cd 4-9. Last cycles I took them cd3-7.

EnglishGirlsReturned · 26/10/2014 20:48

Ginger - I also got really bad headaches the mornings after I took soy. Definitely a side effect.
I upped it after the first cycle as I still ov'd quite late. If this cycle isn't successful I'll keep the does age the same as I ov'd at a perfect cd14 this cycle.

GingerbreadHead · 26/10/2014 20:45

Thanks for the link Disney, I think I have read through that thread before, it helped encourage me to give it a go too! Especially love the ones who got their BFP with soy after trying for ages! I just realised I have been waking up with horrific headaches, but they have stopped for the last few days, so wonder if it might have been the soy, I took it just before bed each night, so maybe one to watch out for.
Do you think if it doesn't work first cycle I need to change the dose or the days?

Disneylandkilledmychildhood · 26/10/2014 20:26

I know Spinningirl, it's so amazing. Hoping we are all that lucky!

Disney, thanks for link, some very positive stories there. So many get their bfp after 1 cycle!

MoreBoober · 26/10/2014 19:58

Hi Ladies

Keep faith, I did a soy cycle straight after my lap and dye and got my big fat positive on that cycle. He's now nearly four Grin
Good luck Wink

Disneylandkilledmychildhood · 26/10/2014 19:48

I've upped mine to 150mg today also. I found that thread really inspiring and it's given me some hope too!

Sorry you had such bad advice moomin. I hope af arrives soon so you can get in with things.

Thank you for the link disney. Lovely to hear positive stories.

I'm upping my dose tonight to 150mg. No side effects so far, just vivid dreams. I have a bad taste in my mouth, but think that's down to an impending cold. Not what I need with my fertile week coming up!

LoopyLa · 26/10/2014 18:59

Disney what an excellent thread to read through - really encouraging, thank you Smile

Disneylandkilledmychildhood · 26/10/2014 18:15

Sorry for the absence from thread, I'm away this weekend. I found some inspiration and encouraging stories about soy isoflavones here community.babycentre.co.uk/post/a12154345/bfps_with_soy_isoflavones.

The success rate seems promising.

Good luck everyone!

That's ridiculous Moomin Angry, I'd go back and kick off! I'm not entirely sure how healthy it is to have cycles that long!! Maybe you could see an acupuncturist and they could kick start things for you. Mine seems to working wonders for my crazy cycles.
GPS definitely need to start warning women how hard it can be to TTC, and advise them to come off bc early.

Moomin37 · 26/10/2014 07:54

Thanks EnglishGirlsReturned I'll stop taking them. My GP won't see me for another three months, so have to forget ttc for now - easier said than done when you're 35 and friends and family are producing babies left right and centre Sad I'm furious that I have mentioned to both GP and nurse in last 12-18 months that I was planning to start TTC and neither of them warned me about how long it might take for my body to get back to normal Angry

Oh well - there's always someone worse off and I guess I just have to be patient. Fx for you Smile

EnglishGirlsReturned · 26/10/2014 01:03

Moomin - I wouldn't advise taking them everyday. For TTC purposes you're only supposed to take them for 5 days and then STOP. I'd speak to your dr again, there is an injection you can have to induce your periods, although I don't know what it's called.

I've generally done days 1&2 of taking it on a lower dosage and then upped from 3.
I've gone for quite high dosages.

GingerbreadHead · 25/10/2014 20:12

Hahaha!! Frolic I love your slogan!!! There must be some evidence out there that getting a puppy can increase your chances of conceiving, maybe that can be our back up plan if Soy doesn't work!!
I only took 100mg every day as my cycles are pretty normal, if there are no adverse effects this cycle (or no BFP) then I think I will take 100mg 4,5,6 and then up to 150 days 7 and 8 next cycle. Not had a dodgy tum, but was feeling a bit bleurgh and queasy today, not sure if it was the soy or not enough sleep! Definately been feeling more crampy than normal though, hopefully it will be that egg getting nice and strong and inviting Grin

Frolicacid · 25/10/2014 19:57

Thanks metal, I will watch put for a dodgy tum. I am going to be tired in the next few days as we are babysitting 18month old nephew and 9 year old niece for the weekend. No extra hour in bed for us tomorrow!
I took 100mg soy last night. No side effects so far. I did have a lovely dream about getting a positive pregnancy test though, which I hope is a good omen.
What day is everyone upping their dose? I think I'll go 100mg again tonight and then up to 150 for the two last doses.

Lol spinning, can you imagine all the serious dog breeder types going ballistic with crazed women getting dogs just to boost their fertility Grin. They would have to make new car stickers, "a dog is for life, not just for BFP" !!

Moomin37 · 25/10/2014 19:55

I came off the pill (Yasmin) in July and no sign of AF yet (CD 108) although my GP says I might still be ovulating. I've got some SI from Tesco and started taking one tablet a day (40 mg) to see if that makes AF get a bloody move on. Not sure this is a good idea or not?! Opinions and advice welcome Smile

Allthefours · 25/10/2014 19:48

I've decided to bite the bullet and take soy this cycle too. Started today which is CD3 with 120mg.

I have very irregular cycles, last one following early MC was 56 days. We have been TTC for 2 years now, with 1 MMC and 1 MC. Being slightly older, I want to try to improve egg quality as well as try to shorten my cycles.

Fingers crossed and good luck to all!

spinningirl10 · 25/10/2014 17:19

Haha frolic, that made me laugh!! We'll all be rushing out to buy a dogGrin

Metalhead · 25/10/2014 15:31

frolic I had a slightly funny tummy the last couple of days of taking them and have been pretty exhausted, though I not sure that's down to the soy.

BobsyBoo · 25/10/2014 11:27

Well my cycle is playing up again! Spotting since Tuesday or what I can only class as spotting no proper bleed as such yet. Thought I'd be starting taking them on Sunday on what should be CD3, but I don't appear to be at CD1 yet, I guess I just need to wait it out for the proper AF bleed to start, it's just annoying.

ICallHimGerald · 25/10/2014 10:01

Ooohhh I have mine sitting waiting for AF to arrive. I got them from nature's best too as there isn't a tesco near us.

I am going to take them because I am way too old and my cycle is playing silly buggers at the moment. Will be so interesting to hear of some bfps
