For anyone TTC or thinking about TTC with Soy Isoflavones

Disneylandkilledmychildhood · 23/10/2014 21:18

I will be starting soy isoflavones tomorrow, cd 3.

This will be my 11th cycle TTC, with two chemical pregnancies/ early miscarriages @ about 5weeks so far this year already.

I've read up quite a lot on SI, and just at the point now where I'm thinking, what the hell, I'll give it a go!

Anybody else TTC with soy isoflavones?

I took SI for the second cycle this month. 120 mg a day, days 3-7. Today, at 10dpo, I got a feint but definite BFP on a FRER this afternoon.

Worth a try then!! SmileSmile

Frolicacid · 29/10/2014 20:02

Thanks spinning. This is one if the worse migranes I have ever had. At least I got 4 out of 5 doses, hopefully that will help my egg.
When I can see straight for more than a few minutes I will look into any links between soy and migranes.
I hope everyone else's headaches are easing off.

LoopyLa · 29/10/2014 19:59

I'm going to start taking soy tonight, it's almost a bit exciting (!) Grin I'm such a loser...

Just thinking how cool would it be that we all got soy BFPs within the next 2/3 weeks, we could all be on the same antenatal bus Smile

Cake and Wine all round - while we still can!

spinningirl10 · 29/10/2014 19:20

Frolic, sorry you've had such a bad headache, if you took soy for 4 days you still may get your soy babyGrin

Frolicacid · 29/10/2014 13:28

Good afternoon! Funny you should all be talking about headaches. I woke up with a banger yesterday that got worse and worse to migrane level last night. The thumping, vomiting and general inability to do anything have only just subsided. My usual migrane medication (triptans) barely touched the sides.
I'm not sure if it is the soy, but I didn't take my last dose just in case. My migranes seem to have a hormonal pattern, so maybe I'm sensitive to changes.
So disappointed, I wanted a little soy bean Sad

EnglishGirlsReturned · 29/10/2014 08:54

I definitely got the headaches!

Metalhead · 29/10/2014 08:33

Hard to tell with me spinning as I get headaches quite often anyway.

BobsyBoo · 29/10/2014 08:14

I took 120mg last night before bed & so far no head ache.

spinningirl10 · 29/10/2014 07:40

I'm taking soy this cycle from cd5-9. So started last night with 100mg and woken up with my usual soy headache. Does anyone get headaches with si?

BobsyBoo · 28/10/2014 23:24

Congrats Kitty good to hear of your successful story with Soy.

I'm on CD2 officially I think, bit confusing because I spotted for 6 days & on Sunday it was slightly more like actual AF than spotting. Monday was definitely AF. I wanted to start from CD3 but I'm taking tonight just in case Sunday should have been classed as CD1.

I'm going to take 120mg today & tomorrow, then 160g for next 2 days then 200mg on last day.

21 cycles down so if this doesn't work I don't know what will.

Disneylandkilledmychildhood · 28/10/2014 12:43

Thanks for sharing your story and support Kitty, congratulations on your pregnancy!

Sounds promising English, fx for your BFP!

My temps are definitely better this cycle - we're nice and low in follicular phase and are nice and high in luteal. Hopefully all that oestrogen has provided a nice cushy environment for a bean to get cozy in! Will keep you updated Kitty - thanks for your support Smile x

NewLeafExpat · 28/10/2014 09:32

Hi kitty thanks for your info on the soy vs soy isoflavones and thrilled to hear of your soy baby and progress!

hope for some more success stories for everyone on here! i dont think i can buy soy isoflavones here in indonesia so i think i have to just wait til my next trip back to the uk and get them from there to give it a go.

good luck & patience to you all xx (in short supply here!!!)

KittyVonCatsington · 28/10/2014 09:02

Living vicariously through you at the moment-so desperate to see a BFP for you on Thursday English!

It sounds odd and a bit 'quack'-like but I do believe the better oestrogen at the start of that cycle helped my body prepare for a better environment for Kitlet to grow in, than the last time and I truly believe that your next BFP will have a better outcome for you, chick! despite how long the first trimester feels

EnglishGirlsReturned · 28/10/2014 08:24

Kitty! I can't believe how far along you are now! So happy for you! GrinGrin That time has flown by, but I bet for you it's felt soooo slow!!

KittyVonCatsington · 28/10/2014 07:59

NewLeaf Soya in your diet is completely different to Soy Isoflavones as a supplement to increase your levels of oestrogen. I too investigated hugely before trying it and SI isn't for everyone. However, please be rest assured that Soya milk etc. etc. has a different effect to SI and therefore menstrual cycles.

I just wanted to cheer you all on! I am 13+3 days pregnant with my Soy baby. Baby is healthy and measuring at the right size for my dates and is quite the wriggler, so certainly not negatively affected by SI.
Was trying for nearly a year with one spontaneous miscarriage, late ovulation (CD20 onwards) and very high temps about 7 days into cycle indicating poor oestrogen and a couple of annovulatory cycles too

First cycle I took it (CD2-100mg, CD3/4-150mg and CD5/6-200mg just before bedtime) brought temp right down to normal oestrogen levels. Had the darkest ic OPK line I have ever seen, on CD13 and ovulation on CD14 according to chart and lots of DTD around that time. My temps also rose steadily upwards after and stayed up - indicating my progesterone was also much improved as a result. Waited to test but got a very dark FRER line at 15dpo, after a possible implnatation dip at 6dpo (too scared to test earlier!)

I wish you all the luck in the world and hope to see more SI BFPs very soon!!

Pikz · 28/10/2014 07:46

Ah English that makes me feel better. I was worrying I wasn't ov early enough after the last dose

NewLeafExpat · 28/10/2014 07:46

Hi ladies. So I havent bought or tried Soy and was totally intrigued after hearing it brought forward all your Ov days...

however I just came across this article online: www.thehealthyhomeeconomist.com/170-scientific-reasons-to-lose-the-soy-in-your-diet/ and although its not from a proper 'official' website there are a few other sites that point against using soy for women.

I'm on the fence...

Frolicacid · 28/10/2014 07:42

Woke up with a massive headache! Maybe they are the real deal.

Thanks spinning. I have loads of opk's so will keep a close eye. I've even bought some midstream ones that will be easier to use at work obsessed .
Good luck Thursday - I hope the soy is as good as that thread promises.

EnglishGirlsReturned · 28/10/2014 06:41

Frolic I'd def up for the last dose. First cycle I ov'd 12 days after last dose, this cycle it was 8days. Apparently most people ov 7-10days after their last dose. But make sure your really monitor it, my OPKs went from barely a line to a really dark one in 24 hours!

I'm testing on Thursday Shock

NewLeafExpat · 28/10/2014 01:49

hi Bobsy, interesting it brought your Ov forward even though you only took 40mgs...

no luck buying online but we have Gnc stores which should sell it.

excited to soy! will post an update once I've found some!

Frolicacid · 27/10/2014 22:24

Cycle day 8 here. I upped my dose to 150mg last night and the same tonight. May go the whole hog up to 200mg for the last dose tomorrow.
I'm a bit worried that I've had no side effects. Crazy, I know, but I can't help thinking that I should have waited to get to holland and barrat rather than buy something off e-bay! They look genuine, but what if they're duds?

Jyst had a negative opk, which is to be expected as I don't usually ov until around day 17-20. Good job as both DH and I are shattered!

Who will be the first to test from this thread? Looking forward to seeing the BFP's roll in!

LoopyLa · 27/10/2014 21:59

AF arrived Angry

Very annoyed as I've wasted 6 HPTs including both FRERs as I was cd32/dpo 14 days. Bloody bollucks.

On the upside, my next cycle will be with the soy for the first time so could be interesting to see what happens. FX to everyone!

Pikz · 27/10/2014 21:01

First cycle of soy cd3-7. On cd13 now so awaiting ov. Usually have long cycles and ov cd22+ so hoping it brings it forward

Disneylandkilledmychildhood · 27/10/2014 20:28

Sorry to hear about that Bobsyboo. At least you know that it was working to some extent though in bringing your ovulation forward. Good luck for your next cycle.
