For anyone TTC or thinking about TTC with Soy Isoflavones

I will be starting soy isoflavones tomorrow, cd 3.

This will be my 11th cycle TTC, with two chemical pregnancies/ early miscarriages @ about 5weeks so far this year already.

I've read up quite a lot on SI, and just at the point now where I'm thinking, what the hell, I'll give it a go!

Anybody else TTC with soy isoflavones?

Right did a CB this morning & my fertile window is over so I'm pretty convinced I ov'd on Tuesday like my body was telling me. I'm now 2 dpo and now have the tedious 2ww to go through Hmm Hard to tell if SI has made a difference yet as my cycle length varies so much but last month I ov'd on cd19, this cycle cd16 Smile

If I don't get a bfp this cycle, I shall buy a thermometer, bin the ICs & get my DH on some conception tablets. He was tested 3 years ago when we were TTC #1 & everything was hunkydory but it can't hurt I think at this stage. At 37 years old I want to be sure everything is covered!

Good luck everyone, where's everyone else at with the CD/DPO's?

Nordicmom · 12/11/2014 23:26

Hi everyone ! Tentatively trying out the SI for the first time this month . Have had a break for a bit now anyway . Getting another cold so not ideal considering I feel pretty bad already but feel the need to get on with this again. DH is a total disbeliever but he hasn't read about this at all so has no clue .
Am going to do cd3-7 started with 100 mg tonight since my tablets are 50 mg . Will prob take 100, 100, 150, 200, 200 unless they make me feel awful . Congrats to all BFP and good luck to everyone else!

BobsyBoo · 12/11/2014 21:58

Thanks Frolic my boobs seem to be at that very first stage of soreness that I usually get at 1dpo so that should mean I've ov'd yesterday but a temp rise will be the best confirmation. If I definitely ov'd yesterday that would be cd16 when normally it is 20 or 21.

The fact my boobs are a tiny bit sore is making me think does that mean my egg didnt get fertilised or would I get sore boobs at this stage as part of my LP. It's usually a symptom of AF but with my DD I had sore boobs before AF was due.

I've been using the CB's for the past few cycles & they e always been good, I've only been able to use the IC's since taking soy as before that I never got the hint of a test line.

Loopyla. I think the ones I use you can test at anytime you just have to have not been to the loo for 4 hours before testing, I've always tested in the evening with them. The IC's I've always tested between 10am & 8pm.

LoopyLa · 12/11/2014 20:24

Interesting Bobsy - I'm thinking the same, my body geared up to ovulate but didn't.

Also what you said about the opks - I used clearblue last month & you're supposed to test in the morning. The ICs you're supposed to test somewhere between 10am-8pm, although apparently between 2-2.30 is the optimum time.

I'm so confused Confused A degree was easier to do than this!

Frolicacid · 12/11/2014 19:49

Thanks bobsy.

I've never used the cp digital opk's so no idea what might be going on. Fx for that temp rise to be clear and confirm ov for you.
Did the soy do anything for your ov date? It seems to have bought mine forward by 4-5 days.

BobsyBoo · 12/11/2014 19:13

Thanks Frolic I just couldn't understand why it only showed the one day and why the CB was negative later that same day.

Fx for you for a BFP.

Frolicacid · 12/11/2014 18:52

It's not willpower new, it's denial. I really don't thing I'm pregnant but I'd rather spend a few more days with the possibility that I am than have my hopes dashed by a bfn. I have also stopped in every supermarket on a 75 mile journey to opk for a frer but couldn't find one. So I only have ic's and don't think there is any point doing then at this stage.

bobsy, the opk's I use say that a line equal to the control line is a positive. I'm sure you have ov'd and your temp will go up and stay up. Fx for you.

BobsyBoo · 12/11/2014 18:42

I seem to be having an odd cycle and I'm also a bit worried that my body geared up to ovulate but didn't. I took the Soy CD's 2 - 7. I've had EWCM since CD12 (Friday) and started testing on the strip OPK, there was no test line Friday and Saturday and on Sunday there was a faint test lane. On Monday the test line was the same as the control line (no darker), that was in the afternoon so I tested with a CB digital that evening to confirm and just got a blank circle, and the same again last night. I've been testing with the strip OPK's in the morning and they have gradually got lighter and today there was only barely a test line.

We have DTD every other day since Friday so I'm hoping I'm covered. I think I may have ov'd yesterday as my temp dipped, then spiked today but only to what it was on Tuesday. I'm going to test with the CB later this evening. If my temp goes up again tomorrow morning then at least I'll know I've ov'd.

It's frustrating isn't it.

NewEraNewMindset · 12/11/2014 18:36

Frolic I admire your willpower, I would have tested two days ago lol!!!

I used EPO this cycle but I can't say I've noticed an increase at all. Maybe of watery discharge but not EWCM unfortunately. My fertility acupuncturist recommended bee pollen and spirulina today. I actually don't think I could take another supplement, it's becoming ridiculous Confused

Frolicacid · 12/11/2014 18:29

I'm no ovulation expert loopy, but your symptoms sound positive. Maybe you missed your surge? I think that's easy to do. Keep resting just in case your body geared up to ov, didn't make it and decides to try again in a few days. I have found the ic's to be pretty reliable - I temp and it has always confirmed ovulation around the same time as opk.

I gave been using epo to help with ewcm as I don't usually have much. It seemes to help and I still had some this cycle, my first with soy.

No news here- 11dpo and no symptoms at all. I'm bored!!

NewEraNewMindset · 12/11/2014 18:25

My opk seems to be fading in tonight, I suspect I will get a positive stick tomorrow so I OV on cd12. Still holding my breath a little bit as these sticks can be tricky bastards and it could be a total neg tomorrow instead.

LoopyLa · 12/11/2014 16:09

OPK still very faint...maybe I should just bin them, bloody waste of money! Hmm

N1kkiL · 12/11/2014 15:54

Thank you NewEra; I'm hoping I finally OV!

Loopyla, I'm two days in & rather dry but apparently this is normal just before OV & AF. hopefully you get more when it matters! Grin

LoopyLa · 12/11/2014 12:47

Ginger yes I think they are positive symptoms too but it's a bit annoying the opk doesn't come up nice & dark to prove it Confused

The ewcm & cramping was yesterday - we DTD the night before & we'll DTD tonight but I think yesterday was ov day. Bearing in mind an egg only lasts 12-24 hours, it's probably too late but hopefully Monday nights shenanigans will have been enough! Hmm

GingerbreadHead · 12/11/2014 12:42

I had quite a bit of ewcm this cycle, but then I took EPO so that would have counteracted any effects from soy. I never really got much before so EPO worked wonders for me!
Loopy I would think you are due to ov very soon. ewcm and cramping are excellent indicators of impending ov, so get down to it lady!!
Oh New maybe stress isn't helping matters?! I know that's a pointless thing to say and a self perpetuating problem, but try not to worry too much. You took such a small dose of soy I really don't think it will mess with your cycle too much. Remember some months are just a bit random! Any ewcm I had would always dry up a day or 2 before I got my +ve opk, so fx you will get yours any day now.
Frolic happy anniversary for yesterday and happy googling! Grin

MrsExtraOrdinary · 12/11/2014 10:09

I had loads and loads of ewcm on both cycles I took si. I'd never had so much. Bfp on 2nd cycle. I think it affects people differently though.

LoopyLa · 12/11/2014 10:08

Anyone who's taken SI notice a lack of cm? I got ewcm a few days ago but have noticed a distinct lack of cm through this cycle [cd17 today]. I've read Clomid can dry it up so I'm wondering if SI has done the same Hmm

I'm having a weird cycle. Had ewcm [yay!], and light cramping in left ovary area last night [yay!] but opks have only shown a very light line Confused I know they are ICs but can't help feeling a bit concerned that I've still not ovulated despite other positive signs...

NewEraNewMindset · 12/11/2014 09:06

Good luck N1kill.

Well I'm still shitting bricks re. OV. I have a cold which doesn't help, trying desperately hard not to take any remedies bar sore throat pastilles as I know a lot of them dry up mucus.

Just wish I could go back to the days of copious EWCM. Always felt like I knew what was going on then. I'm just going to hope for a positive opk at some point. If not then I guess a temp rise.

N1kkiL · 12/11/2014 07:34

SI update, 2 days in: no side effects so far, CM finally dried up & temperature dropped to an acceptable pre-OV 97.05f.

Prior to this had up & down temps (97 something one day, 98 the next) & constant cm.

Currently on CD75.

Excited to take temp tomorrow!

NewEraNewMindset · 11/11/2014 22:33

Happy Anniversary Frolic Grin. Nothing better then whiling away the time googling a good pregnancy symptom, or non-symptom!!! Every month I google the same bloody things whilst in the 2ww. It's like I have cycle amnesia.

Well I got some EWCM this evening, opk, total negative, will see what tomorrow has in store. Having a pre ovulation acupuncture session in the afternoon so I'm throwing absolutely everything at it!!

Frolicacid · 11/11/2014 20:16

I hope they go smoothly for you too.

I don't even have a whiff of a symptom so will try to hold off until the weekend at least. I have a very busy day at work tomorrow and a BFP or BFN would prob distract me. And I don't have a frer. Af was 5 days late last month and all the bfn's were horrible, so going to avoid that if I can.

I am spending tonight (our 13 year anniversary) googling pregnant bbt charts and not having symptoms being a symptom Grin

GingerbreadHead · 11/11/2014 20:09

10dpo you say Frolic??? Grin
I am a complete bag of nerves! Having to stop myself googling things like ectopic pregnancies. I am feeling crampy, which I remember from DD is totally normal, feel a bit yucky today but not sure if I am just imagining it. Trying not to get my hopes up too much but also wondering when to tell the family....just hoping the next 12 weeks go smoothly!

Frolicacid · 11/11/2014 19:39

Af not ag!

Frolicacid · 11/11/2014 19:39

I don't really know gingerbread! Ag not due until 20th but soy seems to have bought my ov forward so who knows when I'm due. I think I'm about 9/10 dpo now. I'm not feeling the urge to test at the moment as I don't even have a whiff of a symptom, let alone a promising one!

How are you feeling?

GingerbreadHead · 11/11/2014 19:04

New try not to panic! And try not to worry, I'm sure you will ov soon, I doubt the soy will have had much affect on your ov patterns on the low dose you took, but hopefully it will be enough to give the egg a good kick up the bum!
Frolic fingers crossed for you! How long til POAS day??
