TTC for the first time - anyone else?

Hi all. I'm a newbie to Mumsnet. TTC for the first time - it's all new!

DH and I have decided to 'take the plunge' and TTC#1. I'm 27 and DH is 31.

It's our first month of trying.

Anyone else just starting out? Would be great to hear from anyone in the same boat and share along the way.

I can see a line!

Gillian1980 · 12/10/2014 20:42

I can definitely see a line, especially in the b&w pic.
I reckon it'll show up darker with FMU. X

DogOnALeash · 12/10/2014 20:25

Oops soz for the double message, didn't do the images properly on the first one

DogOnALeash · 12/10/2014 20:24

Ladies!!!! Am I being crazy or is there a line that could possibly show up if I use fmu.....added the pic in black and white cos it totally shows up that way!! It's a real squinter...or am I insane?

Hahaha. I have a sneaking suspicion my DH is hoping for a bfn too. At least for a couple of months. Wink

DogOnALeash · 12/10/2014 19:11

Hahaha I've done that to DH too, he's always willing to do a change in size feel Wink I wonder why?

He's getting all excited and I think he just wants to know whether he's got another month of good sex coming up or not lmao

innersanctum · 12/10/2014 19:09

I've been getting DH involved in symptom-spotting by flashing my boobs at him, asking 'do they look different to you?' He says not. Don't think he minds either! Wink

Alis really great to share your news. It's what we're all working for! Smile

I hope you'll keep us update on here!

I also drive myself mad symptom spotting but I don't share that with my DH as I think he'll think I'm crazy!

When I have an absolute, no doubt bfp I'll tell him :)

DogOnALeash · 12/10/2014 19:03

I think this is 2WW symptom spotting going into overdrive - seriously this is only cycle one and I'm already going insane!! I keep telling myself AF is going to come any minute now so I'm not hugely disappointed when she does.

I am a firm believer that this everything we see/feel is completely and utterly psychological and when we do get a BFP we will have no symptoms whatsoever lol

Alisvolatpropiis · 12/10/2014 19:01

I used clear blue double pack with a normal test and a digital one, the digital one puts me at 2-3 weeks so 4-5 in doctor speak. But my last period was nearly 7 weeks ago so not 100%. I'm not good at working this stuff out Blush

I haven't told anyone in real life except my DH so it's nice to share!

Kirstywa1 · 12/10/2014 18:57

I think my body is playing tricks on me, i have had cramping and fluttering (not horrendous just odd) on and off for a few days although not due AF until 22nd and my nipples are very sore! I have a feeling I am going to drive myself mad - thinking I am then getting really disappointed when AF arrives!

innersanctum · 12/10/2014 18:52

I'm also worried AF is toying with me. Cramps and very sore boobies. Could be PMS. Could be preggers. The wait is agonising! Think I'm going to wait til Saturday to test (as long as AF doesnt turn up)

Eeeek Alis congrats!!!

I'm 2 days late according to Ovia, 2 BFN's last week - couldn't help myself Blush but I don't want to test again yet... I feel something going on with my body, it's not quite same as AF but she's such a bitchslap I'm sure she's just messing with me.

Awww the puppies!! I have two little Westies and they are adorable, kinda regretting getting them both neutered as would probably have done really well using one as a stud as his coat and temperament is absolutely perfect. Suffering from Ringworm in this house, I'm keeping my distance as medication isn't suitable for preggers ladies Confused

Kirstywa1 · 12/10/2014 18:36

Definitely innersanctum! I have spent so much of my adult life trying not to conceive - TTC seems almost an impossible thing!!

Great news for the others with their BFP Grin

innersanctum · 12/10/2014 18:19

Welcome Kirstywa1! Most of us are all of our first cycle of TTC. We've just got great news from Alis with a BFP!

All this OVing business is a complete minefield. DTD was so straightforward before TTC, eh?

Hi ladies, would it be ok to join this thread? DH and I are TTC #1 I came off the pill in August and had my first real AF last month - I am using Ovia app - and used OV test strip when app said I should have been oving but didn't get a positive reading - I seem to be oving now lol - it's all such a mine field - I thought I knew how to make babies but seems far more complicated Confused

innersanctum · 12/10/2014 17:43

Alis Woo wooopppp!!! Amazing news!!! Really happy for you, and hoping you can share some of your luck with all of us!!

How far along does that make you?

Did you get any early symptoms? (Apart from AF not turning up, obvs).

Sending you lots of love for the next chapter Smile! xxxx

Erm...carry on as normal? And it will probably happen when you think it won't.

I was drunk on Wednesday this week Blush

Wish you all the best of luck and a prompt BFP!

batfish · 12/10/2014 16:52

Oh wow Alisvolatpropiis that's amazing - congratulations on your multiple BFPs!!! How exciting! Any words of wisdom for us other beginners?

So exciting for you, here's hoping you have a fab pregnancy!

Alisvolatpropiis · 12/10/2014 14:01

Tested again yesterday and got BFP x2. Totally didn't expect it.

Just have my fingers crossed all goes well now.

Best of luck to everyone!

batfish · 10/10/2014 06:41

It would be fine if I didn't get maternity pay, we have savings too and my husband earns well - but just seems a shame to miss out on it. If it meant having to wait longer than a month I don't think we would but when it is so close we may as well. We're still not going to be using protection, just not DTD as often as we would be if we were really trying! So that way - if it happened anyway then it was meant to be but we're not going to make a massive effort. Just want the next month to go very quickly!! And you guys will all be experts by then and can tell me what to do :-)

Pixa · 09/10/2014 23:24

We have been completely reckless with our timing... I am on a fixed term contract which is due to end in March - although there has been discussion of an extension. However, we have savings and are in a good position mostly. Hubby is 33; we don't want to lose time now. He doesn't want anymore newborns after 40. Plus, there is never a right time to have children, just some times are better than others. Understand your reasoning though, especially if it is only a few weeks. Smile

innersanctum · 09/10/2014 21:16

batfish we timed TTC for the exact same reasons. We had to wait until I knew the earliest date I would qualify for additional mat pay by being at work for a year (or something like a year's worth of employment at a certain week before a due date) if I conceived straight away. Definitely worth it!
