ermentrude - i'm now on day 4 so will be closely with you this month. We had decided to stop trying when AF came this time but after lots of talking over the last few days (and general weeping and wailing!!) we have decided to give it another couple of months.

I have decided that this is the lucky thread and will definately go for it so have started temping again - looks like ov should be over the bank holiday weekend!!

smellymelly · 23/04/2004 09:48

Thankyou , thankyou, thankyou!!

I did 2 tests (from Poundland) yesterday, and both very feint, but there. Then did a clear blue digital at 6am (!) and it came up 'pregnant' - 4 days before AF is due!!!!!! Bloody hell - maybe it's twins

Then spent next hour not being able to take my eyes off the test until it disappeared!

I do actually feel more positive about this time, my boobs are already getting weird pains, like the 'let down' feeling. I didn't get any soreness or sickness last time and I just knew something was wrong.

Have started the Jan 2005 thread, really hoping there will be lots of you joining me....

Tex111 · 23/04/2004 09:48

gothicmama, you should take it at the same time every morning before you even get out of bed. Once you sit up, move around, etc the movement affects your BBT so you don't get an accurate reading.

futurity, I think you're right to persevere a bit longer and see what happens.

ermentrude, so sorry to hear that. I'm sure I'll be back at CD1 by Tues so I'll follow you through the next cycle.

futurity · 23/04/2004 09:29

Just looked on fertility friend and found this to answer my own question:

"Flat" Temperatures

If your temperatures seem to be around the same level all the time, the culprit is usually your thermometer. Even when you are taking your temperature at the same time, following all the guidelines, there is usually some fluctuation in temperatures. Your first step is to check your thermometer's battery or get a new thermometer. If your temperatures are still flat, and/or show no sign of a biphasic (ovulatory) pattern when you would expect them to, this is something to ask your doctor about if it happens for a few cycles.

Only three days in so will keep an eye on it!

BigBird · 23/04/2004 09:28

sorry - awful spelling

BigBird · 23/04/2004 09:27

CONGRATS SMELLYMELLY - you must be delighted !!!!

Futurity - I think a flat line is good - it indicates stable hormone levels......keep with it, I'm sure there will be some changes.

Moomin and Morgan - good luck in your Laos....I think both of you will have them before me (i'm July) so i'll be looking for some onfo of how it felt etc !!!

Moomin - dd has chickenpox this week too ! Snap ! Luckily I had it when I was snall though. I hope the shot sorts u out.

gothicmama · 23/04/2004 09:12

Congrats Smelly- I had a sucessful pg after ectopic- just having trouble ttc again last time took 5 years- Can anyone help with temping when is the best time to take is best at same tiem each day. I did not have sucess with it last time but all you guys seem to do it and have a good sucess rate. Anyway good luck to all

futurity · 23/04/2004 09:06

yeap! tried this morning a few times and got different temps. (its a Boots BBT kit)

bunny2 · 23/04/2004 09:04

have you taken your temp at different times to check the thermometer does change?

futurity · 23/04/2004 08:54

Quick question..been doing temps for last three mornings and it has been exactly the same temp..is this right?! Thermometer is working correctly..it just struck me as odd as all the example sheets I have seen in books have had a nice zig zag line of temps..mine is going to be very flat at this rate!

bunny2 · 22/04/2004 21:11

Congratulations Smelly So pleased for you. You shall have the first baby of 2005!

Moomin · 22/04/2004 20:55

God, DER!!! Sorry Smelly, I just didn't catch on to your smiley at all. It's no wonder the education system has gone to pot with people like me manning it! Bloody nora - CONGRATULATIONS!!!!! Think loads of positive thoughts and convince yourself this one is MEANT to be

After all that excitement, more news from the Moomin bonkersfest: The doctor's surgery rang dh this afternoon to say that I am NOT immune to The Pox, so the hospital have sorted out some kind of jab for me to collect first thing and I have to have it at my GP surgery tomorrow morning (what a palaver). This will either stop me getting it or will lessen the impact of chicken pox, in case I'm pg. Dd now COVERED with spots and has spent the day feeling very sorry for herself on dh's lap - bless.

BTW, bad luck ermintrude and good luck Morgan x

eyelash · 22/04/2004 20:34

hana · 22/04/2004 18:42

oh smelly, that is such wonderful news, what a great start to the year. Hoping you'll be joined very soon by more here!

smellymelly · 22/04/2004 18:32

Thankyou everyone for your warm wishes -

I'm due ....2nd Jan !!!!!!

I'm only 10dpo, so the line was very feint, but as we all know 'A line is a line!!!!' The only symptoms I have are spots (yum) and a wicked, foul temper!!

But keeping fingers crossed as my last pregnancy was ectopic (Nov 03).

I will be lingering here for a while yet, hoping some of you can join me on the January thread...

hana · 22/04/2004 17:52

sorry becki....

hana · 22/04/2004 17:52

smelly - when are you due? Have you slipped in for a New Year's eve baby?

BeckiF · 22/04/2004 17:10

Did my stick and as I thought NOPE! Ah well!

bluestar · 22/04/2004 16:05

Beckif, you never know, good luck with the stick. I feel for you, I know what it's like to have 56CD (thankfully have greatly reduced now) and it is so frustrating so I hope it works out for you.

Smellymelly, will you be starting the January thread - there are rumours on the pregnancy board already!

OP posts:
BeckiF · 22/04/2004 15:52

Hi Bluestar - I have PCOS and am on day 193, so I might be but it's highly unlikely. It's just strange and I remember that it can be a sign of pg, that's all. Ah well! I'll do a stick when I get home.

bluestar · 22/04/2004 15:42

Not much help but like metal! I didn't get it with ds1, got it with mc baby and sometimes get it just before af. Have you ever temped? I find that the end of the thermometer can give a similar aftertaste. Is af due soon? Is it a 'hypothetical' I could be pg qustion?

OP posts:
BeckiF · 22/04/2004 14:51

Just a quick (and desperate!!) question. What does the 'metally' taste in your mouth actaully taste like? I've had the sort of taste in my mouth that you get if you chew orange or lemon peel by mistake, or when you've eaten too many fruit gums, a kind of citrusy type of taste at the back of my mouth???? Any help?!
