Well that's it. After 13 years of being on the pill I am now not. For various reasons I didn't come off a few months ago to allow my cycle to get back to "normal" (who knows what that is when I was on the pill twice as long as I had periods naturally) so I have no idea how long it'll take me to ovulate. Anyone else in the same boat? Having spent my whole adult life assuming I'd get pregnant just by looking at a boy without BC I am now realising it might actually take months or even years to conceive. Plus I'm not talking about this with friends; they either got pregnant vv quickly or are no where near that stage. So, would be great to hear from a few of you in the same boat...

Just popping in to see how everyone is doing.

I have felt sick this morning and have a pain coming and going high up in my stomach :( Hope I'm not getting a sickness bug! I couldn't sleep much last night either.

Ovia app says do a test in 5 days.

Shellbell0403 · 02/11/2014 21:11

Yes!! The waiting was doing my head in!! Although it's came yesterday I'm now dreading the whole waiting and not knowing for next month and trying to guess about CM and ovulating since I'm not on exact cycles etc yet!! Any advice welcome!!

Theproofisinthepudding.. I can feel your pain!! Hubby started a new job last Monday and will be away two:three nights away for the next few months ?? not good for my DTD plans!! Haha xxx

TheProofIsInThePudding · 02/11/2014 20:52

I'm pleased you can move on to a new cycle now, Shellbell. All the waiting does your nut in doesn't it?

Ainat good news that you are registered with the new doctors. I would hold off taking anything until you've spoken to the GP. You don't want to accidentally compound any issues by taking the wrong stuff!

tessie I noticed you found the November bus - I hope that it's helpful for you.

I'm probably a couple of DPO now and we've done our 'once more for luck' shag according to SMEP. I really hope we've been lucky this month particularly because DH starts a new job tomorrow which is going to involve a lot more travel, so our DTD chances could well be reduced in future.

Shellbell0403 · 02/11/2014 14:10

How do you track your temp? Digital therm?

Ainat266 · 02/11/2014 13:55

Still nothing to report here Shellbell. :( CD63 and nothing.

Now that I'm registered and have had my initial check at the doctors I can phone up and book an appointment. I'm going to give them a call tomorrow and see what I can get. I need to specifically have an evening or weekend appointment though because of work. Hopefully I won't need to wait too long. Also seriously debating taking something to try and help move things forward. I've bought some soya isoflavones and some agnus castus but haven't actually decided whether to take them or not...

tessie glad to hear that you think you've ovulated. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you! x

tessiegirl · 02/11/2014 12:12

Update from me - had third slightly higher temp this morning so I am really hoping that confirms ovulation this month. Will just take each morning at a time I think!!

Shellbell0403 · 02/11/2014 11:20

Morning ladies!!

Well AF has now made an appearance... So cycle 3 is about to commence (at last) how's everyone else doing? Ainat any joy?

Xxx

Ps newbain defo have a ???? even of just a glass ??

TheProofIsInThePudding · 01/11/2014 22:19

Have some Wine! Even if you don't want to drink in the TWW, you could have some when on your period and up until ovulation. What I'm trying to say is don't put your life on hold indefinitely. Plans to go skydiving (or whatever) can be rearranged or cancelled if necessary. Smile

newbian · 01/11/2014 12:55

Hi ladies, new to the thread :)

I'm feeling a little depressed and my husband is tired of hearing about it, so thought I'd wade into the discussion.

30 years old, went off birth control (Nuvaring) in February, actively TTC from July. I saw a doctor in September (family friend is an ob/gyn) because my period in July came a week late and then I didn't have another until the first week of October. Ultrasound showed I'm healthy with lots of eggs, no sign of anything serious like PCOS, so she thinks I may have had a chemical pregnancy (based on the symptoms I reported) in July which messed up my cycle.

This month after the period I tracked using the Ovia app, temping and OPKs. I did ovulate and we BD every day from the day my period stopped until a few days ago. But my period is due tomorrow, got a BFN this morning, and my BBT has been falling so I'm pretty sure I'm not pregnant.

I thought this would be a lot easier. And I'm starting to get upset when I hear about other people getting pregnant. It also doesn't help that I gave up drinking in July which makes me feel that I'm sacrificing my life for a pregnancy that isn't happening.

Any tips for staying sane?

Joey0805 · 31/10/2014 11:53

PiercedMrsL - I started using OPKs right away because I didn't know how long my cycle would be and when is ovulate. If you can DTD EOD you probably don't need them but I knew we'd struggle to find the time to do it that much without knowing it was the 'right time' (how romantic...). As it happened both months so far I have ovulated later than I thought I would so for me it has been really helpful.

Thanks Theproof - I just wanted to use temping as a way to find out if I am definitely ovulating but to be honest I am just finding myself getting stressed and worried over it!! My temp was slightly higher this morning and I have had cramping over the past few days so hoping things are working as they should! I am reading 'Taking Charge of Your Fertility' at the moment which really explains everything well and makes it seem so simple. It does explain other factors that may cause inaccurate readings though, one of which is just coming off the pill so I shall wait and see!

PiercedMrsL - between my withdrawal bleed and my first real af I didn't use any opks and figured I would just let my body do its thing and guessed tests may not be very accurate anyway at this stage. I had started taking folic acid and eating healthy though in preparation.

Shellbell0403 · 31/10/2014 09:16

Fingers crossed theproofisinthepudding!! Hope it happens ?? defo starting my healthy eating today!!

Well I am still patiently waiting....... Any joy Ainat266? Xxx

PiercedMrsL · 31/10/2014 08:36

Just a question for you all, came off the pill last week, had my first withdrawal bleed which has now finished and I'm just wondering the best way to go about doing things from now on? Should i just dtd eod until I get my 1st real af and can start tracking more accurately? Or should I buy some opks and start using those? I want to be as accurate as possible!

TheProofIsInThePudding · 31/10/2014 08:35

Hi Tessie - I also don't temp, but I think it can be quite tricky to get accurate readings. If you've had a disrupted night's sleep or you're fighting off a mild virus that you don't realise etc. You could maybe ask on the November Bus, as there are ladies there with plenty of experience temping. As Joey said DTD just in case can't hurt!

Joey0805 · 30/10/2014 21:40

Tessie - I'm not at all familiar with temping I'm afraid. Lots of DTD just in case x

Hi everyone,
I'm feeling a little disheartened today. Even though I have had positive opk tests and Clearblue indicated 3 high fertility days and 2 peak fertility days I am now on CD16 and haven't yet had a temperature spike on my chart which would indicate I have definitely ovulated. Is this unusual?
I have had some EWCM but not what I would call a lot and I have had cramping. I just feel meh about it all today for some reason Sad

TheProofIsInThePudding · 30/10/2014 09:01

Ainat and Shellbell I'm sorry you're still in the dark. I hope that you can get some answers soon.

When I lost some weight I found one of the most useful things to do was weighing everything. That way I knew that the portion size was correct and you can count the calories more accurately.

I got a positive OPK last night! So we're DTD for 3 consecutive days starting yesterday as per SMEP. FX it works!

Ainat266 · 29/10/2014 22:14

It's just all frustrating..

I don't know anything about Angus castus. will have to look it up.

losing weight is something I'm finding really hard. Since August I've mostly been logging everything I'm eating on mfp (and mostly its been relatively healthy), definitely exercising more, yet I'm not losing anything..

my body must be broken. :-(

Shellbell0403 · 29/10/2014 21:42

Ainat266 I came off the pill in the 15th aug... Just before my wedding ?? had my withdrawal bleed, had one 37 days after and now waiting on the next one!! I feel like the symptoms are here but no show ?? have you heard about this Angus castus thing?

Good luck sockqueen! I need lose weight too... Can't seem to do it though! Xxx

Ainat266 · 29/10/2014 20:55

ShellBell I came off the pill at the very end of August, had a long (9 days) but light withdrawal bleed pretty much straight away, and now nothing since then.

SockQeen I feel your pain. But thank you very much for posting. It helps a little to know that I'm not the only one struggling with crazily long cycles. xXx

SockQueen · 28/10/2014 20:53

Ainat I'm in a similar position to you. My first "cycle" (I'm not even sure you can really call it that) off the pill was 63 days! This current one is 40 and counting... I also know it can take a while and need to lose weight.

I'm not optimistic that my GP would actually do anything atm so I'm waiting for a while longer before I bite the bullet and go there. Keep telling myself I'm not in a huge hurry!

Shellbell0403 · 28/10/2014 20:07

Done a test n came back neg ??
Thought AF maybe coming today but no sign?!

Ainit how long have you been trying/no AF? I was thinking about going to speak to a doc tomorrow but don't know if he will tell me the whole takes a while thing and if would be worth my while?

Glad to have people to talk to about this ?? xx

Ainat266 · 28/10/2014 18:33

tessie don't feel bad about having good news. For those having a tough time we need good news to know that it can happen! I am slightly jealous I'd admit, but I am also VERY VERY happy for you. Get dtd and I really will have my fingers crossed for you!

ShellBell I feel your pain. Hope AF comes soon so you can move on with your next cycle. When was the last time you POAS? Any chance you could have a BFP?

Still no signs of anything for me though. I did go and take my forms to the doctors this morning, and I have an appointment on Friday with the nurse for an initial assessment thing. I'm going to bring up the whole ttc and no period thing, see if I can get advice, but expecting to then be told I need to book an appointment with a doctor. At least I'll be fully registered at my local doctors.

Shellbell0403 · 28/10/2014 14:18

Second off pill and ttc ?? xx

tessiegirl · 28/10/2014 10:22

Hi everyone!

Just got a static smiley face on Clearblue ovulation test so am now at peak fertility on CD14. Very happy with that.

I feel bad giving my positive news when there are others of us feeling low. Ainat - definitely make an appointment at doctors. It will be another step in the right direction in doing something to help things along.
Shellbell - is this your second cycle off the pill or since you have been ttc?
PiercedMrsL - Great news that withdrawal has arrived and from now on you can start tracking, exciting! Have you signed up to use Ovia to help you out?
