Well that's it. After 13 years of being on the pill I am now not. For various reasons I didn't come off a few months ago to allow my cycle to get back to "normal" (who knows what that is when I was on the pill twice as long as I had periods naturally) so I have no idea how long it'll take me to ovulate. Anyone else in the same boat? Having spent my whole adult life assuming I'd get pregnant just by looking at a boy without BC I am now realising it might actually take months or even years to conceive. Plus I'm not talking about this with friends; they either got pregnant vv quickly or are no where near that stage. So, would be great to hear from a few of you in the same boat...

Newbie here, hi everyone :) I came off the pill in July and have been leaving it to chance. I desperately want to conceive but trying not to over think it and just let mother nature do her thang. On Monday I had an early miscarriage, didn't realise I was pregnant but still hard to deal with :( feel I need some moral support as none of my friends are at this stage yet!

Boobear1983 · 07/11/2014 11:45

Thanks! I ordered some tests online which should arrive tomorrow, if no AF by then i might test

TheProofIsInThePudding · 07/11/2014 08:43

Good luck Boobear! I'm planning on waiting until I'm actually due, no testing early, but I don't think I could wait until I was that late!

Joey0805 · 06/11/2014 15:03

Boobear I applaud your will power... If you do cave before then let us know how you get on!!

I'm thinking about poas for the first time! AF is due but not appeared yet. I'm dreading the first bfn Sad so might wait another week if i can

TheProofIsInThePudding · 06/11/2014 10:40

Hello and welcome, newbies!

I'm pretty much in the middle of the TWW now, but I'm not going to test before Friday 14th. I think we DTD plenty at the right time according to OPKs, so on the one hand I want to be hopeful, but on the other it just seems to be a game of chance.

DH is back from his work trip now, which is nice! But he's away at the start of next week too Sad

Shellbell0403 · 05/11/2014 16:53

I take the multivitamins for trying to conceive! I also use the ovia app! It good and tracks everything!! Not done the temp or ovulation checks but may this month!

Thankyou mrsdos ??

Ainat any luck? Sock queen how's it going? Xxx

NighteyesFitz · 05/11/2014 13:12

Oh dear mrsdos! I very nearly had something similar happen with my SIL! She works in my local boots and I was buying some multivits (pre pg) and she was on the till! Luckily the other till was also in service and I was called over there! Phew!

mrsdos · 05/11/2014 12:44

I will give it anoyher couple of weeks and try the app/ OPK. Taking multi vit with folic acid so far bit not specifically pre pg at the mo (MIL saw multi vits the other day and immediately asked if I was PG! So glad this thread is here!)

Had all the signs AF could be looming (poor dh) but nothing yet, but have been without for so long I can't remember what my cycle was like before!

NighteyesFitz · 05/11/2014 11:49

Morning Ladies! Newbie starting TTC#1 here! Not too late to join in I hope!
Grin
We're not telling anyone we're ttc, so this is a great place to be!

I came off pill August 10th, withdrawal bleed came almost right away! Then I had my first proper AF almost a month after the withdrawal bleed, on 15th September. My last cycle was 41 days-AF made an appearance on Halloween

Boobear1983 · 05/11/2014 11:36

Can i jump in on this thread? Was on depo injection for 2 years so no AF, then straight onto the implant which i had removed in august. One very heavy AF in sept, then very light regular ish since.

Only just started ttc last month so not too hopeful. AF is due between 5th -10th nov. Usual signs, sore boobs, stomach ache but also back ache, head ache and as of yesterday peeing loads and possibly cystitis. Haven't tested to see if I'm ov yet so trying to convince myself I'm only seeing symptoms because I'm looking! What ov test do people use?

Joey0805 · 05/11/2014 11:36

Coming off the pill is so frustrating... I had a withdrawal bleed in Aug, a tiny AF in Oct (almost no heavier than spotting) and now on CD 32 waiting for AF (but I did ovulate in Oct). Pre pill my cycles were 21 days so this is so long for me. Tested yest and BFN so just waiting for AF though no signs it's on it's way...

Definitely take folic acid and the apps - I use Ovia- are really helpful. But remember until it has your cycle data to use it will give you a fertile window based on averages for your est cycle length. For me that window was NOT when I ovulated so pay attention to the physical signs rather than the app for that, esp if u don't want to use OPKs...

I took my last one about the same time as you Crazypuglady. I think I had slight withdrawal bleed after about a week and got excited thinking it was AF but nothing since. After the scare stories of miss one pill and your caught I think I'm going to be impatient! Hope its a lucky month for you Shellbell0403!

Bozley47 · 05/11/2014 00:15

Hi all,
Hope I can join group, not yet quite up to speed with the lingo!
Have been off the pill since start of year, and have only just 3 days ago got what I think is my first proper AF. In the last eleven months my best friend has also stopped the pill, got pregnant and has just had baby number 1! So I'm a bit low, and everyone at work keeps asking when I'm having kids! Any hints/tips etc would be greatly appreciated. Starting folic acid tomorrow as finally think my body is ovulating again!

SockQueen · 04/11/2014 21:50

TheProof ATM we're just seeing how it goes, I don't want to add layers of stress and complexity early on if I can avoid it, so I'm not going to start OPKs or anything yet, plus my routine for my job (quite a lot of early starts and night shifts) would make regular temping difficult.

Ainat did you manage to get hold of the doctor?

pinkie fingers crossed for you tomorrow!

Welcome even newer newbies!

Shellbell0403 · 04/11/2014 20:57

Welcome mrsdos!

It will happen! Did you have your withdrawal bleed? My first real AF was 37 days after I came off my pill in aug!! My third cycle is just beginning

Xx

crazypuglady · 04/11/2014 20:52

I'm in exactly the same boat mrsdos, I took my last Cerazette pill on Friday 17th October and..... nothing. No withdrawal bleed, no AF and no idea if I've ov'd. I've said if nothing happens this month I'll try OPKs see if they can tell me anything about what's going on in there.

mrsdos · 04/11/2014 20:40

Hello everyone, can I join the thread too?

I'm so glad to have found this thread, I am new to all of this and have no one other than the hubby to talk to about ttc (I don't think he really wants to hear the girly stuff either!). Added to this my SIL got PG within a couple of months of marrying my BIL last autumn, now I want my turn and don't want the 'has it happened yet' comments.

I stopped taking Cerazette almost three weeks ago and no AF as yet, starting to wonder (I am that impatient) how long it will take for a normal cycle to return after reading lots of scare stories. Has anyone else come off of Cerazette?

pinkie1982 · 04/11/2014 13:25

Fertile week accouring to Ovia ended 10 days ago...

pinkie1982 · 04/11/2014 13:24

I was wondering that but trying not to obsess about it. Had it again today but it's going now. Its a pain at the top of my stomach that comes and gos and I feel sick and not hungry. Had it for the last two days now from early morning (still dark) until about 2pm. Not linked to eating/toilet so I don't know. Feel well in myself apart from that though.
Not sure when AF will come as only in 2nd cycle after coming off of the pill. First cycle was 30 days.

Shellbell0403 · 04/11/2014 13:22

Hey ladies!!

Nearing the end of AF! ?? Woohoo!! Only prob is OH is away on business ??

How's it going theproofisinthepudding?

Ainat266 have you spoken to the doc?

Sockqueen glad your AF appeared ??

What's best to track ovulating etc ladies? Xxx

TheProofIsInThePudding · 04/11/2014 08:30

pinkie could your sickness be a symptom?! (I'm at the start of the TWW, so everything is a possible symptom!)

Good luck tomorrow Joey!

Hi SockQueen at least you can move on to the next cycle now. Will you be using OPKs or temping etc?

Have you phoned the doctor yet Ainat?!

Ainat266 · 03/11/2014 21:04

Argh! Totally forgot to phone the doctors today!!! I had to go in to work early today, and then I got all caught up in trying to sort my classroom out (it was practically empty... they had professional cleaners in doing the floors and carpets over the half term...) and before I knew it it was the evening and I had forgotten to call! I'm going to set an alarm on my phone to tell me to call the doctors in the morning.

SockQueen I'm glad AF is here for you. Hopefully this AF has kickstarted your body is getting back to its normal cycle.

Joey I'll keep my fingers crossed for you!

SockQueen · 03/11/2014 17:37

Period arrived today, so cycle length 46 days this time. I'm mildly disappointed that it didn't happen first month for us (as it did for two of my closest friends recently) but mostly just relieved that the waiting is over. Hopefully hormones are starting to get back to normal after years of artificial suppression!

Joey0805 · 03/11/2014 11:31

I'm now 12DPO and so waiting for AF (after BFN with a FRER 2 days ago). I will POAS on Wednesday if AF doesn't come (no sign of it so far) but I really don't feel pregnant at all and I hate the negative tests so much, I'd really rather just get AF. Ovia wants me to POAS today and my CBFM too but I'm definitely waiting. Lesson learned!
