Well that's it. After 13 years of being on the pill I am now not. For various reasons I didn't come off a few months ago to allow my cycle to get back to "normal" (who knows what that is when I was on the pill twice as long as I had periods naturally) so I have no idea how long it'll take me to ovulate. Anyone else in the same boat? Having spent my whole adult life assuming I'd get pregnant just by looking at a boy without BC I am now realising it might actually take months or even years to conceive. Plus I'm not talking about this with friends; they either got pregnant vv quickly or are no where near that stage. So, would be great to hear from a few of you in the same boat...

Well.. Mr B and I decided today to just start trying now.. all very exciting. The Ovia app says I should be ovulating soon I just peed on one of those sticks that you can get on the internet and a really faint pink line appeared.. but I cannot tell from the packet instructions if that is positive for ovulation or not.. has anyone tried one of the clearblue ovulation ones? x

Emilyjane11 · 09/09/2014 05:29

See how you get on it definitely made sense of things for me!! I'm definitely a novice when it comes to all this. Fingers crossed the cramps are sign of a little one! Xx

Baffers100 · 08/09/2014 22:23

Thanks EmilyJane, downloading now! This is day 2 of really bad cramps but at the moment everything is like "ooh I could be prehnant, or coming on, or pregnant, or mad?!"

Pre-vitamins? Yep, taking Pregnacare Conception. Got it on a 3 for 2 in Boots ;)

Emilyjane11 · 08/09/2014 21:55

No it doesn't give you calendar alerts you just log each day and input data. It tells you when your ovulating and when you can do a pg test etc.

And yes, ThenewMrsB82 i am trying straight away and take some pre natal vitamins, good luck!! Xx

ThenewMrsB82 · 08/09/2014 21:48

PS is everyone else trying straight away? Mr B and I are waiting until Christmastime.. are you all taking preconception vitamins etc? x

ThenewMrsB82 · 08/09/2014 21:48

I got it! It's great.. do you know if it accesses your calendar and sends you alerts? I tried one of these apps when I had an i phone and it kept sending me alerts at really bad times.. eg when I was showing my friend who is having fertility problems a picture on my phone.. I gave up trying with that app of course! x

Jcandy · 08/09/2014 21:36

You can get ovia on Android too Smile

ThenewMrsB82 · 08/09/2014 21:35

Thanks.. I don't but I'll have a look. I have a HTC. x

ThenewMrsB82 · 08/09/2014 21:31

Hi Ladies,

Me too.. I'm glad I'm not the only one! I used to get the pregnancy paranoia all the time and now I'm trying for the first time I'm paranoid I won't be able to get pregnant..

Is anyone else charting their ovulation? I'm not sure how to get started.. any tips?
x

Emilyjane11 · 08/09/2014 20:51

Download an app called ovia if you have an iphone Baffers100 i didn't have a clue where i was up to but it helped sort it all out and tell me when i should ovulate ect, i don't know how accurate it will be this month as its my first off the pill like you but its worth a shot?

Baffers100 · 08/09/2014 17:08

Hi Ladies, can I join? I'm in a pickle!

I ran my pill packs in June and July back to back due to holiday. In August, I stopped the pill after taking for just one week. I has a withdrawal bleed for a couple of days, but now I haven't a clue what's going on.

I took the last pill on 19th August. When do I pee on a stick? I may not get my Af as ew have been DTD every 2-3 days so may be pregnant, but when is "too early" to test?

FionaAndCake · 08/09/2014 13:38

Hi everyone, please can I join your thread? Came off of BC about 6 months ago after around 13 years and have been ttc for 3 months now. Been trying to not get frustrated at nothing happening, but currently feel like everyone I speak to randomly asks me when I'll be having a baby, or informs me that someone else is pregnant! Hoping for some positive news before the end of the year

TeamJ83 · 08/09/2014 13:35

Hi everyone! Same boat for me - I literally stopped taking my pill 4 days ago after being on it for about 15 years!! I'm 31 and ttc #1, very nervous and excited about it all. It's good to have this forum to chat to people going through the same experience and hear how it goes - it definitely appears as though it's totally different for everybody! I am trying to get into the mindset of 'what will be will be' and not too caught up in it all but that's easier said than done i am sure you will all agree! Can't wait to hear how it goes for everyone - good luck to you all Smile

Jcandy · 08/09/2014 09:08

Yeah joey I'm glad I found that link! Can actually start to understand some of the conversations now. I keep going from being really nervous to really excited to really nervous again! I'm not one for waiting either so I can see me getting quite impatient after a while.......

Joey0805 · 08/09/2014 08:47

This certainly helped me - I had no idea what anyone was going on about...

Hi squirrel24 i know exactly how you feel i am very new to this and i am trying to work out all the lingo also!! Good luck trying, fingers crossed its quick for you Smile

Squirrel24 · 07/09/2014 18:31

Hi everyone. My partner has just had a vasectomy reversal, I'm 43 and we've just started trying to conceive. It's a big secret as he has two children from his ex, both in their teens and I'm of that age where everyone thinks I am long past having children. They all see me as the career type.
I'm finding it hard having no one but my partner to talk to about it all and there are lots of things I wouldn't discuss with him, afterall, he's more of an expert than me and I feel such a novice. So thought maybe coming here might help. There is alot of info on here but I'm still trying to work out what all the acronyms are veryone uses. Phew. Feeling a bit lost and alone in all this. Any advice?

Emilyjane11 · 07/09/2014 18:11

Yeah and it's such a different experience for everyone. The more we know about each other's experience the more we are prepared for. I am nervous about becoming pregnant too, i think the thing im most nervous about is labour, which sounds daft but i hate the unknown!

bexsmith2013 · 07/09/2014 17:46

I'm also in the same boat, came off the pill 3 months ago but still nothing yet.. Easy to worry about it and think 'what's wrong with me?' But it's such a difficult thing to do when you're trying and really have no control over.. Joey I am same as you, was never maternal but being 32 and married a year it seems the natural next step, before its too late! Good luck peeps!

Joey0805 · 07/09/2014 17:29

I am nervous about all of it! About struggling to get pregnant, pregnancy and then being a parent! I have never been a maternal person with an "urge" to have a baby. But at the same time I can't imagine not having children eventually and I'm very happily married, 32 and leaving it any longer seems crazy when we have no idea how long it'll take to get pregnant (and we want 2). I don't think I'll ever feel ready really so we set out a TTC date a couple of years back and now it's here...

Most of my friends who have children or are pregnant conceived within 1-4 months but of course I probably just don't know about those who have been trying for a long time without telling anyone.

Idlefolly, I'm also planning on being pretty systematic about it so also need the 2 post pill cycles before I can really use my new clear blue monitor. In the meantime I bought a bunch of ovulation tests from boots and hoping to capture any ovulation with those.

So true Emily. All my friends have one or two children, all of them conceived very easily or even accidentally, and my SIL has just announced baby #3 is on the way. I so wish I had had my implant removed months ago before my wedding. Oh well. The wait for AF continues into week 9....

FX for everyone.

Emilyjane11 · 06/09/2014 19:17

I think we all have to give it time. Periods will return eventually, i don't know what to expect with this being my first cycle but let's keep everyone posted! two of my friends got pregnant in their first cycle after coming of BC but we all know it ain't that easy!

idlefolly · 06/09/2014 19:04

Hi all, I'm in the same boat. 31, TTC #1. I had my implant (nexplanon) removed 9 wks ago on Tuesday and still waiting for AF. Feeling very anxious/frustrated/disheartened now as I just want to know things are working as they should and be able to get going with monitoring my cycle so I know when to DTD. I had two implants spanning five years, and the pill for ten years prior to that. I don't even know if I'm ovulating.

Good luck to everyone!

jellypi3 · 06/09/2014 18:26

I'll join. TTC #1, 24 years old. Been on Depo injections for 5 years, came off in Feb 2014. Still no signs of AF, though I think I am ovulating. My friends are pregnant with their first, they did it once after have implant out, and hey presto they are 27 weeks pregnant. Grrr!

Shoebles · 06/09/2014 18:10

Very nervous here too, and also trying to keep things a bit quiet but DH keeps making accidental comments like "oh Shoebles may not be able to come on that abseiling trip next year" heat get everyone wondering, although I can't get mad at him as it's only because he's excited!
