Well that's it. After 13 years of being on the pill I am now not. For various reasons I didn't come off a few months ago to allow my cycle to get back to "normal" (who knows what that is when I was on the pill twice as long as I had periods naturally) so I have no idea how long it'll take me to ovulate. Anyone else in the same boat? Having spent my whole adult life assuming I'd get pregnant just by looking at a boy without BC I am now realising it might actually take months or even years to conceive. Plus I'm not talking about this with friends; they either got pregnant vv quickly or are no where near that stage. So, would be great to hear from a few of you in the same boat...

Not much to say from me - DH has been working away in the week and I'm on night shifts this weekend, so not much chance to DTD regularly as I would like.

I've volunteered for a research study at the hospital I work at - they're recruiting young women who've not had a child yet and doing various tests as a baseline then extras if you get pregnant. My appointment's not till February, and if I'm already pregnant then I won't be eligible, but at least it gives me something positive to do if I haven't caught by then!

Hi,
First month of TTC, cycle day 22 ( I think) and I'm feeling disappointed as I don't think we are pregnant this month. :( I don't feel different or have any symptoms.
I know, I know, it can take months or even years to conceive, but I can't help but feel down and question what else can we do. I also panic it may never happen.....
I can't really say too much to OH as he says to just relax and see what happens naturally.... I on the other hand am plotting calendars and fertile windows etc. I am so excited we are finally taking the plunge after so many years that I am getting carried away/slightly obsessed, it just means so much I guess.
Any tips to prevent craziness?
S.S

Room for one more in here?

I'm 31, DH is 32, we got married last month and we're getting straight into it! I came off the pill two weeks ago after 12 years on it so right now I'm just waiting to see what my body does. I'm not charting but I've got some ovulation sticks so I can see if anything is happening.

It's complicated for me by the fact I was diagnosed with PCOS when I was 17... however at the time I was also on Epilim (sodium valproate) for epilepsy, which I didn't know back then is linked to PCOS. I was taken off it when I was 19 - it causes birth defects so as I was of 'childbearing age' the NHS decided I shouldn't have it anymore and put me on Lamotrigine instead. Two months after coming off the Epilim I had my first natural period in about three years! So after a decade off Epilim and on BC I have no idea what my ovaries look like. I haven't been troubled by PCOS symptoms for years but I don't know if that's just because they were controlled by the BC and they'll all come flooding back now, or because they were caused by the Epilim in the first place.

We have spoken to our GP and she said if we go six months ttc with no results she'll refer me for investigations but not before. So we're embarking on an unknown adventure!

Hi All,

I'm new to all this forum stuff and I'm just posting so that I can perhaps get some tips from other people's experience.
I'm 23, my OH is 27. I've been off implanon for 15 months now and been on no other contraception and nothing has happened. Since January this year I've been having 2 day periods and really regular cycles of 27/28 days. Previous to the implant my periods were 4/5 days in length. However, seeing as they've been so regular I haven't even considered this to be a problem. We haven't been "trying" however we most certainly have not been "not trying", we have been having very regular intercourse and have not been using any contraception, we don't drink/smoke.
So I'm utterly baffled and tbh a little stressed now which I know won't help. I've invested in a clearblue advanced fertility monitor but as the first one was fault and my cycle started on the 1st of the month (which I found very strange in itself as this never happens) I now cannot use it until my next cycle starts. I'm using regular cheapy ovulation test strips for the time being. I'm just wondering if anyone has any experience of similar issues.

Also, does anyone have any experience of conceiving when their partner has at some point taken steroids?

Thank you all so much in advance and I have my fingers crossed for each and every one of you xx

mrsdos · 08/12/2014 12:27

Hello all.
I used the CB ov test last week that indicated a peek mid-week, which considering AF hasn't made an appearance since I stopped taking the pill in October was encouraging! So I guess I just have to wait now, but not really expecting a BFP as I am sure it is too soon and my hormones are all of a jumble. How is everyone getting on?

Porchrules · 05/12/2014 10:15

Hi all, so sorry for the prolonged absence - work is absolutely manic and what with ttc jazz as well I haven't even had time to think.

So just to update - my ghastly AF turned up in the end - 7 days late - and marked the end of another month of trying...booo.

Back in the proverbial saddle again this month, although I think I've messed it up already - thought I had a few days grace after the last day of AF so didn't dtd for a few days, but then had a solid smiley face only 3 days after the end of AF and had to hop to it sharpish! Don't know if this means we missed the window?!

We've kept dtd this week just in case (although last night we fell out so missed one... I fear I may be turning into 'that' woman and need to sort it out as I'm actually now making my poor dh feel bad) but no idea really. I have had a lot of twinging pain in my right side this week and Ovuline (dratted app) says 'ooh it may be implantation' but I'm not convinced. I guess I need to make up with my dh - stop being a psycho obsessive and just try and relax and enjoy the process over Christmas.

How's everyone else getting along? Any more Christmas wishes coming true?! xx

Shellbell0403 · 04/12/2014 18:47

Hope you all get your bfp soon!

mrsdos · 02/12/2014 11:14

Congrats Pierced! I think that Iam possibly ov-ing today? (is that possible withput AF?) DH is unwell and called in sick to work... I have given him a warning that I will be pouncing on him later, he can't be that sick as he didn't complain!!

tessiegirl · 02/12/2014 10:28

Awww Congratulations Pierced!!!

Shell how did the bloods go?

I am 5DPO no symptoms apart from small cramps every so often

Shellbell0403 · 01/12/2014 20:52

Congrats!! That's great news ?? just in time for xmas ?? xxx

PiercedMrsL · 30/11/2014 20:33

Thought I should post an update on how things are going here!

Finished my pill packet roughly 23 October, had a withdrawal bleed which finished 30 October, and have been waiting for AF to come along ever since. Been taking agnus castus to help regulate things, folic acid, and multivitamins to help prepare myself.

For the past few days I've been experiencing cramping, tiredness and heavy boobs. I thought it was pms (actually yay) but decided to poas, expecting a bfn as surely my cycle wasnot settled from being on the pill.

I got a bfp!! And then did another one because I didn't believe it. Again, it was positive! Surely this can't be right?! Am going to the doctors on Tuesday just to make sure!

Shellbell0403 · 28/11/2014 15:36

Anyone else had blood tests done? Xx

SockQueen · 26/11/2014 23:05

So I thought I was roughly 2ww-ing (not tracking, just roughly based on cycle length) but AF has decided to make an appearance today, only day 24. WTF is going on, uterus?

mrsdos · 26/11/2014 19:46

Hello Shell! Hope it all goes ok with the blood tests.
We are still waiting for AF to make an appearance, hope others have some good news Smile

Shellbell0403 · 25/11/2014 20:31

Hi ladies!

Just been thinking it's been very quiet on here! Hope everyone is well!! I have the docs on fri for blood tests ?? fingers crossed!!

Hope some people have had some good news ?? xxx

Shellbell0403 · 18/11/2014 19:39

This ovulating and cm malarkey is so confusing!!

tessiegirl · 18/11/2014 19:34

How rotten, hope the witch comes soon for you Porch

Porchrules · 18/11/2014 15:25

Thanks tessie - every little-app helps! Might follow your lead and do the temp thing as well next time around.
Now 6d overdue for the dreaded AF - been feeling bloated and achey for three days now but annoyingly it's easing but with no sign of her yet. Three BFNs so far and don't know whether to hang on and test again or accept that this probably means another two month cycle. Huff.

tessiegirl · 18/11/2014 15:16

I know what you mean porch, being on here is a bit obsessive but a great help. Sorry to hear you are in limbo with your cycles, I hope they get sorted out very soon. I also have found using Fertility Friend good...
