Hi

I am new to mumsnet and just wanted to start a new thread for those who have maybe just started ttc or have been for a while and their goal is to get a bfp before xmas this year.

I have just started ttc and not long off microgynon so waiting to see what happens. Not telling anyone as me and DP want to keep it to ourselves until bfp to avoid any pressure so just looking for some internet friends to chat to!

OP posts:

I agree that the OPKs that require you to determine if the line is darker than the test are confusing, once my cycle gets back to normal I'll be buying the clear blue one.

I do finally feel like my body might actually be doing something though so I am rather pleased! DP is on nights all week though so they'll be no DTD.

I think I'll have a google of this book you keep mentioning Idle see if I can get hold of a copy.

Idlefolly melodygrace I am using cb dual digital and they are fab pricey but worth it love the smiley face DH even asks if I get the smiley face in the mornings takes all the guess work out of it..Smile

creamhearts · 01/09/2014 17:56

Thanks idle My cycle has calmed down a bit yes, my cycles have always been long and I seem to have settled back into that but you are right, they are not back to 100% normal.

I think my temp has risen indicating that I may have ovulated. My CM is not giving a lot away really! I am going to use OPKs next month.

Fingers crossed for everyone xx

rubyrubes13 · 01/09/2014 17:55

Can I join in 6 dpo really want BFP before xmas (please can someone tell me what this stands for newbie) not for obvious reasons my dad works away his home for my 31 (06 Oct) and Xmas and I don't want to tell him over the phone when bfp occurs I told him about our engagement and date setting over the phone I want to tell him face to face that he is going to grandpa and then of course run (this will be his first) ...

Melodygrace · 01/09/2014 15:48

Thank you. I will give it a read. I will just have to wait and see. I won't bother using them next month. Thanks for the advice.

idlefolly · 01/09/2014 14:37

Hi Melody. I have used internet cheapies on and off and a couple of times I have had a couple of days of what look like positives, but more like the middle one in your picture where the test line isn't as dark as the control line. I have given up on OPKs for now as my AF hasn't returned since having my implant removed 8 weeks ago (annoying) but when it does, I'm going to start using the Clearblue digital tests with the smiley faces as they are apparently more sensitive than internet cheapies and can predict four fertile days rather than one. I found the ICs a bit confusing to interpret because it's hard to decide whether the test line is as dark or almost as dark as the control line - it's open to interpretation really isn't it! I'm sorry I don't have any advice to help you but maybe try Clearblue instead, or temping and monitoring your CM and cervix (have a read of Taking Charge of Your Fertility if you get a chance), which are apparently more reliable indicators of ovulation (although I wouldn't know, as I have no idea what my cycle is doing at the moment)!!

InThisTogether · 01/09/2014 13:30

I'm in! Am an absokute novice, no idea what I am doing. We started in earnest this month, so here goes... good luck ladies!

Melodygrace · 01/09/2014 13:29

I use Internet cheapies then bought another brand from supermarket still all positive. It's very strange when I first started using them a couple of days before I suspected ovulation they were fine negative slightly darker then positive then faded, now all always positive. Confused pictures from about half ten and about half hour ago. And negative hpt. Can't help myself..... Lol

TTC #1 hoping for BFP before xmas.
idlefolly · 01/09/2014 12:16

Are you using internet cheapies or Clearblue etc... Melody?

Melodygrace · 01/09/2014 12:03

I'm still getting positive opks!!! If this turns into bfp then these opks are picking up pregnancy way faster than hpt. 6 days of positive opks I'm testing all times of day and night they are all positive! I can't be ovulating this long surely??? I'm 7or 8 dpo!

idlefolly · 01/09/2014 05:19

Cream, I know it's hard but try not to worry. Maybe it is just taking your body a while to get back it's natural rhythm after meds that stopped your AF? Are you having regular AFs now? Has the temping revealed any patterns and does your CM tell you anything?
I'm in a similar boat, my AF hasn't reappeared and it's nearly 8 wks since I had my implant removed. I only started temping a few days ago but I have had no signs that I'm ovulating since removal. It's hard not to obsess over it, which I think makes it worse as then I worry that I'm preventing it by worrying!! I've got my FX for you.

Pigriver · 31/08/2014 12:32

Yay that's what I was hoping for. Ok so I have 2 more months of just giving it a go (well plotting dates with app and looking for mucus...nice) before I am allowing my self to do OPK etc.
So just need to get shagging and see what happens. Good luck everyone x

Jcandy · 31/08/2014 12:14

From what I can tell it's the clear stuff, like the egg just as you pour it into the pan to fry it Smile FX for you over the next week

Pigriver · 31/08/2014 12:10

I'm on CD7 and AF finished yesterday. I guess I'll be ovulating next week so might just try and go DTD crazy for the next week and a half or so!

I am a bit confused about this egg white cervical mucus? Is it clear like raw egg or white like a fried egg!! I had always thought white and been confused as mine is clear....had a mini epiphany the other day....'oh is that what they meant' kind of thing!
Hope so as I would actually know when I ovulate as I am desperately trying not to get to militant yet as we are only 2 months in.

Jcandy · 30/08/2014 21:19

Sorry meant temping not opks........

Jcandy · 30/08/2014 21:18

Oh creamhearts try not to worry too much! It's good to be able to vent on here but as far as I can tell it takes a bit of practice to figure out what's going on with opks. It's too early really to tell if you are ovulating or not so just believe that you are! Trust your body, at this point there is nothing to suggest anything might be wrong Smile

creamhearts · 30/08/2014 21:13

Also (sorry to come back) what if I am not ovulating?? We have been trying for only two months and I have only really temped this month but I really don't think I am. I am a bit of a panicker and I know it is far too soon to worry but I really do. I was not on hormonal birth control before we TTC but I had been on medication that had stopped my periods so I know my body needs to get back to normal but what if I don't ever ovulate :(

Sorry for whinging, we have not told anyone we are TTC and I needed to vent.

creamhearts · 30/08/2014 21:05

Congratulations Beccaroo!

jellypi3 · 30/08/2014 20:08

Hi everyone :) hoping to join you. DP and I are TTC #1, we are both 24. I stopped my Depo injection in February but I still haven't had a visit from AF :( we have been using condoms but recently decided to stop because we both want a family and I think I'm ovulating (not used any OPK's yet) so we thought why the hell not!!

Jcandy · 30/08/2014 19:53

They won't let you see a midwife until your 8 weeks so I guess if you got pg straight away you'd just have to date it from the removal. Think I'm not going to actively try for the first month but won't be abstaining either!! See what happens Smile

Where is everyone in their cycles on this thread?

Bluebird89 · 30/08/2014 19:48

Congratulations beccaroo, brilliant news.

I think the reason the nurse said to wait was more to do with dates - I didn't bleed at all on the Implant and she said if I was to go to the midwife once pregnant and say my last period was 2 years ago she wouldn't be impressed.

Makes me laugh now she said "use the condoms as fertility returns straight away and you don't want to end up pregnant sooner than you expected" Actually getting pregnant is exactly what I want!

Jcandy · 30/08/2014 17:18

Congratulations beccaroo!

Thanks bluebird my gp said just get going with it so that's 2 to 1 idle...... Who knows what the right answer is but I guess I'll either get pg or not and figure it out then!

beccaroo · 30/08/2014 16:52

Hi everyone, it's been a while since my last post but I thought I would post to give you all hope! I had a couple of days spotting which I thought was a light period but have had VERY sore boobs ever since and couldn't work out why. So took a test this morning... BFP!! Took another as didn't believe it...BFP! Went to tesco to get Clearblue digital test...BFP. Can't actually believe it as it's cycle no 1 TTC after 8 years on the pill! Good luck everyone, see you in the pregnancy forums! Grin

idlefolly · 30/08/2014 16:27

Bluebird - so the nurse actually said wait for AF before TTC? Mine said no need to! How reassuring, ask two people get two answers! Confused
Still nothing with me. Will be 8 wks on Tues.

MistressKatherine · 30/08/2014 13:35

Good luck everyone!

I thought i'd join you. I'm ttc#1, am 28 and have been trying for four months. Nada yet. I worry i'm not ovulating too, so am trying out opk's to see if they can put my mind to rest.

BFPs to everyone!
