Hi

I am new to mumsnet and just wanted to start a new thread for those who have maybe just started ttc or have been for a while and their goal is to get a bfp before xmas this year.

I have just started ttc and not long off microgynon so waiting to see what happens. Not telling anyone as me and DP want to keep it to ourselves until bfp to avoid any pressure so just looking for some internet friends to chat to!

what the doctors don't stress to you when you go on BC is that it can take up to 6 months to get cycles back. it took me 95 days after breakthrough bleed to get AF back. I had normal cycles before this. if i knew i would have stopped BC sooner. with implants and injections it takes a little longer than the pill but everyone is different.

i friend of mine stopped the pill and was BFP within 3 months. So it's lots of positive thoughts and no stress as the goal for all of us TTC.

wish i had done more research to see different options when considering BC but I know for next time and if i have a DD i will know what to tell her.

thepurplegiraffe i know what you mean about redundancy. you should check your mat leave policy as companies get really technical and picky these days. they made a woman at my job redundant in November and she was due to go on mat leave in Feb. they then took her off payroll in august so she only got 6 months mat leave not the normal 1 year. not sure what happened there but there are 2 things you should check for. 1) what week must you reach to get mat leave/pay? for us its 15 weeks before your Expected Week of Child birth (EWC). if you make it to this week then they have to pay you for the time. even if you notify them at month 4 they can still make you redundant before you reach the mark.

Ladies make sure you read your mat leave policies or you could be in for a shock. Companies are also making changes and not tell people.

12 weeks does seem like a long time to get AF back though...

Thepurplegiraffe · 04/09/2014 08:38

I had been on the implant so long that they had come back before I ever came off. Sorry thats not very helpful I know. But I had heard it can take a while to conceive after coming off the implant.

Bluebird89 · 04/09/2014 05:03

Just talking about getting my period back at this stage giraffe. How long did that take for you?

Thepurplegiraffe · 03/09/2014 22:43

Whatever they say about the implant I didn't get pregnant until about 6 months after having it out, though I wasn't trying too hard for the first few months, but I'm sure it had some effect...

idlefolly · 03/09/2014 21:34

Bluebird, still no AF for me. I was thinking 12 weeks then doctors too, I think that's a reasonable amount of time considering how every doctor/nurse/health practitioner keeps telling us that our fertility should return a few days after removal. Agh! Confused

TheDalek · 03/09/2014 20:17

I don't think there can be any harm in going for it, but then I'm doing the same and I've not been doing it long either. Although I think there might be a problem of it turning into a proper slog which you end up dreading, so not living your life by it type concerted effort iyswim?

Bluebird89 · 03/09/2014 20:12

Or maybe 12 weeks isn't very long and I should just wait it out. Aghh I don't know!

TheDalek · 03/09/2014 20:08

Can I join in? We're both early 30s and I'm impatiently in the 2ww (due Sat) and been TTC for four months. Hoping for a baby by Christmas. Each month I'm sure I'm pregnant Hmm but hopefully my symptoms will be real this time! Smile

MsAR · 03/09/2014 19:17

Hi there, I'd like to join you lovely ladies. Have been half heartedly ttc # 1 for 3 months and am now going to make a concerted effort to put a bit more effort into it. Hoping for a BFP before Christmas.

Bluebird89 · 03/09/2014 19:13

Hi princess, nope, no AF for me yet after 7 weeks. Idle is a week ahead of me and don't think she's got AF yet either. I'm thinking 12 weeks then a trip to the doctors? Not really sure how long your supposed to wait

Gemerama82 · 03/09/2014 12:42

I've heard they can come out positive if you are pregnant! Maybe do a pg test? Fx for you!

0798emms · 02/09/2014 20:01

Hope u dont mind me posting here but plz help as I am soo confused, today is cd 28 and I just done a opk test which come back positive I normally have a 28/29 day cyle whats happening?

StrawberryCheese · 02/09/2014 19:49

I am also playing the waiting game. I have eyed up the pee sticks in the bathroom occasionally and had to remind myself that they wouldn't work this early anyway. I'm not doing any monitoring of any sort with it being just our first cycle. Quite laid back about the whole thing really. Just found out that my neighbour is pregnant though Smile

Thepurplegiraffe · 02/09/2014 19:35

Thanks all. I am also in the 2ww, due on Thursday but not feeling like it is going to happen this month. I am in danger of being made redundant at work at some point so really need it to happen sooner rather than later...

squiish · 02/09/2014 13:03

Afternoon all and hi to the new ladies! I'm back at the beginning of my cycle so just gearing up for lots of DTD for the next two weeks or so. Ovulated day 19/20 according to my temp last cycle so I'm just going to try cover the period from now till then, just in case ;)
Good luck SueBridehead

SueBridehead · 02/09/2014 12:11

I'm also in the 2ww. Don't feel any symptoms as hard as I try to imagine them and don't really feel very hopeful this month. Not sure I got the dates right and dh was away for a few days..

Oh well, you never know!
Anyone else waiting?

PrincessPenguin · 02/09/2014 11:59

I'm posting for the first time as a new joiner! Am 27 and had my implant removed about 4 weeks ago...no AF yet but DP & I are going for it anyway.

Bluebird89 - any AF for you yet? I'm wondering how long it will take!

Baffers100 · 02/09/2014 10:42

I came off Gederal in early August one week in to the pack. We really wanted to start a family so I wasn't patient enough to complete the pack and wait as usual (though my doctor said there's no need).
I had a withdrawal bleed last month (sorry if TMI) and am due to start ovultating in the next couple of days. I usually know when I am ovulating as it feels like there's an elephant partying in my abdomen!
Our plan is to continue to have fun trying and not to test until the end of October, hopefully I will have some good news on our anniversary which we can share with the family over christmas :)

Bluebird89 · 02/09/2014 08:14

cream I'm by no means an expert but certainly with the ones I bought the line has to be the same colour or darker than the test line.

Welcome giraffe and freedom fx for both of you

Freedom40 · 01/09/2014 21:44

can i join i have been off pills since may and finally got AF last week 1st since off pills. really want BFP by Xmas as DH and I would love kids and we are both in our 40s but found each other last.

Thepurplegiraffe · 01/09/2014 21:08

Hi can I join you. I am currently in my 2nd cycle of ttc in a serious way. I am 36 and still breastfeeding but only once a day so I'm hoping it's not affecting anything. I have had regular AF for months now but no sign of anything happening yet...

creamhearts · 01/09/2014 21:06

Oh so with the ebay cheapy OPKs the line has to be as dark as the control line for you to be ovulating? I didn't know that.

shouldnthavegoogledit · 01/09/2014 20:30

Ok ... is anyone else is in the 2ww and resisting the urge to POAS yet? I'm making up some incredibly inventive symptoms as I go along. Leg twitch? Pregnant! Stuffy nose? Pregnant! ... You get the idea.

Also, in case it helps and at the risk of forever sounding even more obsessive and bonkers than I already do I used both the Clearblue monitor AND cheap internet OPKs every day.

The CBFM gave me 5 days of 'high' and then 2 days of 'peak' - and the OPKs 'agreed' on one of the last 2 days. The temperature jumped the day before, which Fertility Friend was none too cheery about, but overall it build up to a picture of 'things might be working down there after all'. So if you do have the spare money and like me need to time things carefully because of work schedules etc, I think it's worth the investment.

On the other hand, from what I've read, for normal/sane people the very best thing is to try and do it every other day whenever possible throughout the month.
