Mine is, I worked out using a CBFM, only 9 days long which may account for our recurrent miscarriages.

I'm giving B6 and progesterone cream a go to see if I can lengthen it but do they work? If they don't what other options are there?

Has anyone successfully carried a pregnancy with a 9 day LP?

I'm also now taking B6 to try to length mine. It is 10 days and I had lots of spotting last month. I'm taking 60mg of B6 daily.

I've been checked by doc and everything was normal, but I've been ttc for 13 months now.

AF arrived today so that's an improvement!

Mine was 8/9 days when trying to conceive DC2 (also breastfeeding). I struggled to get pregnant and had a couple of early miscarriages. I tried acupuncture and B6, and it crept slowly up to 11 days. I got pregnant with DC2 the month after it hit 11 days, and had a really straightforward pregnancy.

However, it was also 8/9 days (I had recently stopped breastfeeding my 2 year old) when I was definitely not trying to get pregnant with DC3 (I know how long it was as was relying on Persona / charting as contraception), and I'm now 21 weeks. I didn't take anything at all, as I wasn't planning a pregnancy (although I'm quite excited about it!).

I'm taking a B vit complex and B6 on top so it keeps it in balance

Also, I think I took a B-vit complex cos apparently B6 on its own doesn't work as well. I think.

CountBapula · 04/08/2014 19:17

I can't remember, sorry Chilli Blush

I do know it worked the first cycle I took it. But I can't remember when in my cycle I took it, IYSWIM.

Lots of luck to you, though Flowers

Chillisauce · 04/08/2014 18:05

May I ask how long the b6 took to work? I've bought some today and am expecting to ovulate in about 7 days, do you think I'll have enough in me to work for this cycle?

CountBapula · 04/08/2014 13:16

Ooh, exciting!

Mine was 8 or 9 days (was breastfeeding). Tried for a couple of months then took B6. BFP first time. The result is now sitting on my lap gurgling happily to himself :)

Hi ladies, I'm 10dpo and had no spotting (usually spot the day before AF) so torn between a YAY my LP has lengthened and a 'ooh shall I test' Grin

I have a gripey stomach today. Like period cramps but no period.

Hey ladies! My LP has been 9 or 10 days my last few cycles. My Dr has given me Duphaston progesterone pills to take from 1DPO through til 14DPO/a pregnancy test. I stop if negative and carry on if positive.

This isn't on the NHS tho - am in Thailand. Also I have PCOS so having my cycles monitored. Xx

MrsBungle · 03/08/2014 17:21

My luteal phase was 9 days. I ovulated on day 19/20 and always got my period on day 28. I didn't know this first time I got pregnant as I wasn't trying. The second time I was trying and found out by using ovulation kits. Well, I still got pregnant first time. So it can work.

Chillisauce · 03/08/2014 17:17

Sounds good. I may see how this month goes and if I have a short one again I'll get some. Thanks.

Treesandbees · 03/08/2014 15:56

I have a 9/10 day LP which I also thought caused a m/c. I started taking Vit B6 and got my BFP a month later it could have just ovulated earlier that month! I'm now TTC#2 and have again started to take Vit B6 and Vitex. Last month my LP increased to 12 days so I feel it works! Good luck!

Chillisauce · 03/08/2014 13:46

May I just ask how Long do you need to take the vitamin B to make any difference? And once your LT phase has lengthened do you still need to take it?

Morethanalittlebitconfused · 03/08/2014 10:48

Great to see all these positive stories! I'm 9dpo now and due on tomorrow. Feel nauseous but suspect that's a Pmt symptom

I've also now got 'holy diver' in my head thanks to holydrinker Grin

I conceived and carried a healthy dd with a 9 day LP. Was still breastfeeding my son when we started trying, which is why my LP was so short. Absolutely thought I couldn't conceive but I did.

Best of luck OP.

GothMummy · 02/08/2014 21:29

I had a 9 day luteal phase and the b6 lengthened my cycle over 3 months to 12 days resulting in DS. Good luck.

Morethanalittlebitconfused · 02/08/2014 21:25

Make sure you get your progesterone test on what is actually 7dpo rather than on day 21 (unless they happen to be the same!) which is what GPs normally insist on or it won't work anyway!

doobeedee · 02/08/2014 21:14

at its worst, mine was about 7 days. After a year oof TTC, it had improved to about 9/10 but I can't say whether it was naturally lengthening by itself after coming off the pill or if it was down to the millions of supplements I took. I'm inclined to think it was the former. I got my first sticky on my first round of Clomid (I had multiple chemicals before that). It could have been the Clomid or it could have happened that cycle anyway. I guess I'll never know for sure.

Morethanalittlebitconfused · 02/08/2014 08:31

Hi thanks for your input!

For me I've never taken any form of hormonal contraception and we have been TTC for over 2 years now. I think I'm going to request a progesterone level test from the GP as suggested.

Hi- I've been TTC for around 18 months now and at first my LP was only 7 or 8 days. I have tried B6, B complex (up to 200mg), Vitex and progesterone cream and nothing changed this. It has gradually lengthened itself over the 18 months such that my last cycle was 12 days and 2 x 10 days before that.

Sometimes the cause is low progesterone, in which case an OTC remedy like the above might help. However, even then I'm not sure if that's the case for everyone because my first cd21 progesterone result (when LP was consistently 7/8 days) was only 20 but last month was 34 (as expected with better LP) and I did nothing to "make" this happen.

My opinion is that if you have been on hormonal birth control for a while, even though health care professionals say it has no long term effects on fertility, it might just take some time for everything to get back on an even keel.

Best of luck!
