Just wondering whether anyone has been through the same fun and games and I am going through!

Firstly bit of background:

DS conceived first month of trying (after leaving 2 months from coming off the pill and my cycle settling to 29 days)

This time round: Came off pill end of September/beginning October
AF- 11 November
AF-12 December (31 day cycle)
AF-10 January (29)
AF-14 February (35)
3 March ovulated (using OPK?day 19 of cycle)
AF- 13 March (28)
1 April ovulated. Day 20

Hope that all makes sense!! Basically last month and this month I have used the OPK which has told me I ovulate quite late but what I was surprised at was last month that my AF turned up fairly quickly afterwards. This month I have had AF pains since day before ovulation and still uncomfortable (not painful though) so I can imagine my AF coming along around day 28 again. I have read that you need at least 10 days between ovulation and AF but it doesn?t seem like I am getting that. Seems like my body is kicking into AF mode before I have even ovulated and it is annoying me!!! I figure I will go to the doctor if AF turns up ?early? but I just imagine I will get the old speech about not having been trying very long/only just come off the pill and that they will tell me to go away!

So really just wanted to know if anyone else had late ovulation and whether it stopped them getting pregnant?

Yes, that's called a luteal phase defect, and there is lots of info if you do a google search. Because there is such a short time between fertilization and the next period - there isn't enough progesterone being produced to support the embryo. I'm quite sure it was a matter of taking extra Vitamin b12 to lengthen the luteal phase. It's common enough and can be fixed. I would certainly take your information to your gp or consultant and they can do certain tests to confirm this. Let us know how you get on furturity

Futurity, that sounds like a short luteal phase. I don't know anything about it personally, but know it's been mentioned a few times on the site. A google search gives quite a few links that may be helpful. I hope you get some answers.

Unfortunately it seems as if I don't ovulate 12-14 days before AF...it seems to be about 10 days

Futurity - Before becoming pregnant with dd I had such an erratic cycle (35-56 days) went to see a gynocologist who said I would need help in order to get pregnant (I wasn't trying but as I kept missing periods I thought it best to check it out). Then, voila, I'm pregnant. Actually have no clue as to when I ovulated in my cycle but apparently its between days 12-14 BEFORE the beginning of your next period which is great in a standard cycle.
