I've ordered it today as today is 12th month of trying after having AF. Has anyone used it or interested in using it? I like how it works it all out for you as I don't want to spend all that time stressing over learning how to chart myself. You poas when it tells you and insert the stick into the machine and it interprets it for you. Gives you a few high chance days and then the lh surge days. Measures oestrogen and lh. Also can test for pregnancy. You can input when you dtd too and a light and alarm can remind you.

I really like gadgets and technology anyway. If it works I don't care how much it costs. Anyone have any experience with it already? I don't think it's been put long.

Well monitor went to low on CD 25! So I reckon AF is coming soon! How annoying!

IfYouWereARiverIdLearnToFloat · 11/01/2015 12:07

Hi Ladies. Hope you don't mind me joining you... I'm currently using the CBFM for the first time this month. I came off the pill this time last year but because of hubby's crazy shifts at that time I'd say we've only been TTC seriously for around 9 months. I conceived in June but MC'd at 7 weeks.

Just had my peaks this week D18 and 19, back to high today. It's reassured me that I'm ovulating as Boots OPK showed zilch & we have an appointment booked at a Natural Fertility Clinic in a fortnight so looking forward to that.

Although I do like the CBFM I feel it's becoming a focus POAS every morning and waiting anxiously to see if I'm OV yet. Anybody feel the same way & how do you stop it taking over??

BertieBoo10 · 10/01/2015 12:34

Jellypi, it may well just be getting used to your cycle. I know of a couple of people who didn't get peaks first cycle. Very frustrating though.

BertieBoo10 · 10/01/2015 12:32

Fabulous news Birchy. I have everything crossed for you that your husbands come back just as good.
My first month using the CBAFM my first monitor didn't work so I ended up making up a fake period start date so that I could still use it last cycle. I do wonder if that would have made any difference to when it says I'm peaking etc. December on left, January on right.

CD- 9: low CD- 9: low
CD- 10: low CD- 10: high
CD- 11: low CD- 11: high
CD- 12: high

So wondering when I'll peak this month. :/ I read the same about hormone levels but I've been testing 5am- 11am as I work shifts so know I'm generally always awake at this time...

Started running as well now hoping to take the focus off me. It seems like every man and his wife is running now, yet before I started no-one was.lol

jellypi3 · 10/01/2015 12:16

Hi All.

I'm on CD25 and still not had a peak, still getting highs this cycle! How frustrating! AF due tomorrow so hopefully will get a peak in cycle 2!!

I always use first morning urine, I think you have to for the CBFM, it's normal OPK's that you use afternoon urine for.

MissMonkey · 10/01/2015 09:40

bertie I have massive admiration for you being able to not say anything and stay calm. Sometimes people are so oblivious to how hurtful they can be when they meddle and make hints. Chin up hunni and fingers crossed it will happen soon for you.

birchyboo that's great that your bloods show that you are ovulating and fingers crossed for positive results for your husband. My first cycle on CBFM didn't give me a peak but did on cycle two.

What times do you ladies test? I have recently read that your hormone levels get higher throughout the day so it is best to test in the afternoon but my current testing window is 6am to 11am. Not sure if I should change this next cycle

Have a good weekend ladies

birchyboo · 09/01/2015 10:07

Hi all thought I would drop by again as its been a couple of days... cd9 today and still high but had my blood tests back from dr and suggested ovulation and that everything is normal so big relief there for me. Just waiting on the husbands results now. Fingers crossed everything is good and we can just have fun doing the bd ????

BertieBoo10 · 08/01/2015 17:34

That should say TTC not TCC; )

BertieBoo10 · 07/01/2015 23:34

Rainy, thank you. I think that sounds equally as rubbish especially if they know you're TCC. I've heard all the comments from various family members "These Lewis's have strong swimmers when you do come to have children you'll catch in no time" or "I caught so fast with all of mine barely had to try at all"...Well thank you for that helpful hint. I'm really happy for you that you didn't need to try, we do but thank you. I'm normally the one admired by most for being the calm, collected one who tries to help and care for anyone (hence the nursing career path) but there is only so much one person can take. I think at some point it may come out to his parents, possibly when we do fall pregnant as I don't want pandering to or wrapping up in cotton wool. I just wish people could be considerate regardless of what the know. I truly hope your sister in law will come to see how different she would feel if the shoe were on the other foot so to speak.

Monkey I'm glad you understand, I too feel cheated and I just don't understand. I genuinely don't. Oh he does, I don't doubt how much he craves a family and how much he'd do to protect me from others etc but I guess I just worry. Unecessarily but, I worry. Honestly I didn't know what to say, I genuinely didn't. I hadn't seen AF as of that point so me and my OH half smiled at each other as we'd our hearts set on December being the month. I was just dumbfounded, his brother came in who remarked what a great Christmas present it would be for us if we were as he wants children too but his girlfriend has an ectopic pregnancy a few years back so chances of them catching are slim too. His dad just shook his head as he knows what his mom is like...a meddler, that and he is having his own mental health problems at the moment so he isn't engaging normally in family life. It make s me glad that even though they only live a mile up the road we never see them lately.

Hi Birchy, just give it time. It takes the first cycle to establish what your normal levels are. Everyone is different and you may well have a few high days before a peak. I'd just give it the first cycle to suss you out. I'm onto my second cycle now and I'm cycle day 8 and low but I didn't peak until cycle day 16 last month so I'm hoping the same again...Probably won't be though our bodies like to keep us on our toes and not be like to books say lol.

birchyboo · 06/01/2015 10:01

Hi all I am new to the thread been ttc with my husband for 12 months now. Bought the cbafm and did my first test today cd6 its come out high... is this normal??? Have read a couple of things that say you could get all highs on the first month so I guess we will see. We are also going through the blood tests and sperm analysis just to double check as if there is a problem we would rather know now and deal with it. I have read through this whole thread and just want to say that it is really helpful to see everyone's posts and not to feel alone in this crazy ttc stuff. Hope everyone is having a good day xx

MissMonkey · 05/01/2015 20:41

bertie I can sympathise with how your feeling hunni, 8 years ago I was on the pill and got pregnant but miscarried 2 week after finding out. I think because I got pregnant on the pill i nievely thought that I'd get pregnant instantly when I came of the pill as I must have super eggs to get caught whilst taking the pill..... Sadly that's not true and I feel a little cheated.

It doesn't sound awful that that is how you feel at the minute and I think the biggest problem is that we make ourselves believe the worst of ourselves and blame ourselves for everything. I honestly don't think that your oh would think that and he must adore you or he wouldn't want to make a family with you - don't put yourself down hunni, like you told me it's just a case of the egg meeting the sperm.

What did you say to you in laws when they gave you the 'gift'?

Don't be sorry for the of load that's what we are here for (and we like to take it in turns to offload). I think it's the only place I offload and people don't tiptoe round me for a week after

Rainy34 · 05/01/2015 19:53

i have the old style cbfm, but i was reading on here and felt i could not just up and run without leaving a message for you Bertie, so sorry to read that you had to go through your miscarriage on your own, that must have been an awful experience, and as for sister in laws, they can be so harsh, i think there is always a type of resentment between two, with me my sister in law dropped the hint on christmas day that her and my brother in law where going to try very soon and that she just knew she would fall straight away even though she knows we are trying and getting no where , her comment cut like a knife and its not the first time she has made comments about her "falling straight away", i can't help but hope she doesn't, Bertie all i can say is rise above the comment, your a better person than her, i have heard this line before, when you relax and stop stressing it will happen, maybe its worth a shot, I'm sure you will get your bfp very soon

BertieBoo10 · 04/01/2015 20:57

I've not been obsessed with the conception side of things as in jumping on my OH all the time but I have been very down and fed up when it's not happened. I seemed to take it really hard this month...I think with families comments and then the "gift" of pregnancy tests it's just pushed me over the edge. Then there's the drama that's going on in his family which involved his sister in law "jokingly" saying "Tania (my MIL) likes us better because we have the grandchildren"...It's just piled up. I want a child and I want no-one but myself and my OH involved I don't even want visitors because if they can't be polite and friendly and see us when we don't have children why should they have the privilege of being around when we do. I think perhaps that's a but of spite coming out but it all makes me cross. Nobody is the slighted bit interested in us now his brother and sister in law (the one who made the comment) are back on the scene. I feel worse complaining as there are those who have been trying for much longer.
I fell pregnant just over 3 years ago (with my fiancé), he was away on a course at the time and I didn't want to tell him via text etc plus I was nervous as to what he'd say. I was a couple of weeks late and I'd spoken with a friend and she'd said to test and I did without thinking anything of it as I was rather irregular then. To my surprise I was pregnant (we weren't trying and I was on the contraceptive pill,it can only have happened whilst I'd had a period of illness). Sadly for some reason unknown to me it wasn't meant to be and 5 days later I started bleeding horrendously. I was too worried to go to the doctors or hospital and I just sat it out. In hindsight I know I should have gone but I just wanted to be alone. I tested after everything had subsided and obviously got a negative. I just remember thinking did I imagine the positive did it not even happen. I was heartbroken. Silently heartbroken. This all happened just before the festive periods of that year and I kept it all to myself until into the new year as I didn't want to ruin my OH's christmas and new year. I could see by the look on his face he was devastated, devastated I hadn't told him sooner, and that it had happened. He didn't say an awful lot about it after then mostly as I'd said I didn't want to talk about it again after that occasion. But all I wanted to know was the he hurt too but I know he couldn't say he was trying to be brave for me.

So my biggest worry now is, will he doubt it even happened in the first place because it isn't happening now. What has changed and yes I understand it clearly wasn't a viable pregnancy but it happened with him whilst on the pill. Now it isn't..and I'm on nothing. I just don't understand. I know deep down he would never think that way but in honesty if I was him I would probably have that train of thought. Basically I'm inwardly in turmoil and I just want to fall pregnant so we can have what we long for and so that I can half forget the past. I know that sounds awful. :(

I can start testing again tomorrow I'm thinking I should give it another attempt before going to the doctors - I think I just don't want to admit defeat.

Oh ladies I'm sorry to offload I just needed to and im so grateful, even though I've never met any of you, that I have your advice and support.

MissMonkey · 04/01/2015 19:57

Erm I read that it will automatically give you a second peak once it's picked up the first but mine still asks on the second day of peak then carries on asking after too. I also read somewhere that the machine works in groups of 10, so if after the first 10 days of asking it hasn't yet given you a peak it will ask for another 10 days, even if you peak on 11 it will still keep asking until it's had 20 (that is a waste if you ask me so once iv had my peak I feed the machine old sticks instead of wasting new ones). So in answer to your question I'm not sure, you may have a dodgy machine, so it may be worth giving clear blue a call and see what they say

Kellie1234 · 04/01/2015 14:25

Got up ready to test this morning& it's stopped asking but automatically showing peak? Is this right?

Kellie1234 · 04/01/2015 05:26

Thanks miss monkey Well I finished work at 4am & managed to dtd :) hopefully I'm still in with a chance, I'll test again tomorrow & see what the monitor says. Hopefully it's just another day of bedding I'm exhausted

MissMonkey · 03/01/2015 21:11

Arrr that's great. Don't give up yet hunni! They say you ovulate 12-36 hours after the machine registers its first peak. You've still got tonight and tomorrow so....... I think your still in with a very good chance

Perhaps your husband felt a little pressured , maybe try not saying Your peaking until after you've done the deed so he doesn't get the "I've got to do it feeling". Fingers crossed for you hunni

Kellie1234 · 03/01/2015 14:30

I seem to have spoken too soon, have my husband an early morning wake up call after having my first peak, but unfortunately he couldn't finish, I'm gutted, this is something which never happens. Will I miss my ovulation or have I still got a fighting chance if we try again after 4am (we're both working until then) some advice would b appreciated

Kellie1234 · 03/01/2015 12:30

So happy to see this little beauty this morning :) so far I've had 2 lows 1 high & 1 peak. I literally gave out a little squeal. How long after this would I actually ovulate?

So firstly happy new year ladies and i hope you all had a wonderful Xmas.

Just catching up as been major busy over festive season and wanted to check into see how you all are?

bertie I really can empathise with you on how you are feeling and I think your definitely doing the right thing by proactively seeking ways to clear your head. Before Xmas I was a walking hormonal wreck that was obsessed with TTC, since then iv started to relax a little and try to be more positive (I know easier said than done). Keep your chin up hunni and do whatever it takes to put your mind at rest - if that means having a chat with your GP then I reccomend you do that or the little gremlin jumping up and down in your brain won't stop. jellyp is right you are by no means a failure, it's just something that a few of us go through (I know it's not fair).

kellie1234 I think on my first month I got 19 highs and no peak and the second month 3 highs and two peak. From what I read, it may take the first month for the machine "to get to know you" so don't worry too much on first month. I think the machine shocks most people as for years they assume they ov on a certain day but find that's not the case. I always thought I ov on cd 14 but turns out this month was cd 20 so iv been concentrating on the wrong week every month for over a year.

Good luck ladies xx

Kellie1234 · 02/01/2015 11:39

Hi ladies

I'm new to this site & wondered if I could join? It's my first month of using advanced cbfm I've had my first high today on cd14 was a bit suprised as I assumed I ovulate today. We've been trying for approx 3 years on & off & currently going through fertility treatment after a yr break. Do you know how long after I will get a high?

Hbhopeful · 02/01/2015 11:37

I used this for the first time last month - found it very good. Gave me 2 high days and 2 peak.

Does anyone know when it will ask for a pregnancy test?

jellypi3 · 02/01/2015 10:11

:( big hugs boo it's really tough isn't it. How long have you been trying for? I would be tempted to go to the docs if it's more than a year. You are in no way a failure, these things are just tough for some people. You are in good company at least x

BertieBoo10 · 01/01/2015 21:28

Had myself a bit of a cry yesterday...AF turned up... :( We were at a friends house and she went through years of clomid etc to be told she could not have children and miraculously she conceived months later. Even she started to tear up when I was talking to her and explaining how I felt.
Ladies I just feel like a total disappointment as a fiancée, a woman and a human. Why do our bodies not just work correctly as they should. I'm finding it so difficult to be around people who are pregnant as I feel resentful something I never dreamt I would. I'm always so incredibly happy when people announce they are expecting but right now I feel nothing short of a witch.
Thinking I might just have to suck it up and go to the doctors but I'm also wanting to give it another month of trying with this monitor. I'm in two minds... :/

I've started running and i'm considering some yoga just to help me clear my head of it all and relax.

I'm so hopeful for you all xx

jellypi3 · 01/01/2015 19:42

congrats :) How many highs did you have?
