POAS Anonymous: The story continues

Sorry freshstart. We hate AF. You know I've been super super tired yesterday and today and in the night my husband woke me up chatting and then my daughter woke me up and was really difficult and I remember thinking in my half asleep daze "for goodness sake, I'm pregnant, why won't these people just let me sleep?!" And this morning was like... Hmm. That's interesting. Although i have just read online about early pregnancy factor which kind of says that women can get symptoms that are pregnancy symptoms rather than just progesterone symptoms before a positive hpt. So that doesn't help at all. Every time I symptom spot I try to tell myself it's impossible to get pregnancy symptoms before a BFP. But now I shall be thinking it IS possible..!!!

Good luck with your tests ladies, alas AF showed up this morning so I am back to square one. :( Will be visiting again in about 2 or 3 weeks time I expect!...xx

I think I might test tomorrow morning! It will be 12dpo but still 1 day before AF is due. I've been trying to symptom spot like crazy and I've had absolutely nothing, except today I'm feeling quite nauseous. Think it's all in my mind / is just nerves for tomorrow's test!

I'm going to test 12dpo then which is tue 29th, I'm back in work the day after until the clinics test day on mon 4th and don't want to test get a BFN them head to work so that's my last chance or I wait

Yes good luck! Hopefully we will have LOADS of BFPs this thread. We didn't get enough last time. Where is everyone else? Who's testing next week apart from myself and possibly Lauren..!!
Sebsmummy how are you doing? You thought you might have a pregnancy sign but were waiting on AF not showing up?

Basically I'm 7dpo today (that's when the donors egg collection was so the equivalent of ovulation)

Clinics always give a long 2 week wait to cover late implantation and reduced the amount of chemical pregnancies I guess

I might join you and test at 12dpo :)

Welcome to Lauren!! I'm really sorry but I'm not smart on ivf. I'm not sure what all that means!!
But hopefully it will go well. So you are meant to be testing 4th august? I'm planning on testing the 31st July and I'll only be 12 dpo. That does seem like a really long wait for you!!

I'm 7dpo 5dp 2dt today

3rd ivf 1st with donor eggs (premature ovarian failure at 30)

We only got one really poor quality egg from the donor so not got much hope

Otd from the clinic is 4th Aug so 18 dpo but will be a miracle if I last til then

Thanks newbie, really helpful. I would choose to do it privately so we weren't waiting as I'm sure nhs would insist on 12 months trying before they went ahead with anything. It's all so confusing! At least you now have peace of mind that it def will happen, just a question of waiting now! Good luck! X

Hi happily, I ended up paying for them privately so got the results quickly. It was £250 for me and hubby but I do feel reassured now. I think GP's if you push them though would hopefully refer you for tests but not sure how long you would need to wait? X

Great news newbie. Have you waited long for your tests? Just wondering whether to get me and DH checked out - I had good results from the 21 day test but not sure how to go about doing other tests and how long you wait before the GP will agree to it....

I am 10 dpo and noticed some creamy cm in my knickers today. That is a pregnancy sign for me, but it was quite a small amount so I've decided not to test as I think AF arriving in a few days will actually be easier.

Terry and Red gosh you have both been through the mill with this. So sorry for your losses, and yes, as Red says, I hope we all get healthy sticky babies soon.

Was convinced last night that AF would arrive by morning, but she's still in abeyance, CD26 today, still not officially late though so like a couple of other posters I'm going to wait to the weekend. Fingers crossed for everyone!

Yeah my first miscarriage was actually very sad but easier because it was just natural and happened when I was like almost six weeks. It was early, you know, it was just one of those things. The next was absolutely awful because I'd had a scan and seen my baby and the heartbeat and everyone assured me it'd be ok this time, and I had no idea anything was wrong until next scan. That was the worst. So I get what you're saying, for sure. It's hard. I hope we get good sticky babies soon.

Thanks Red although I feel really sad about what happened I don't think it's my place to feel angry or sorry for myself as I have 2 amazing DCs already and a great life. I have said to DH though that I think I will probably get more upset about the result of the ectopic if we struggle to conceive as previously its been quite easy for us. The only thing that really makes me feel frustrated is that with my miscarriage, although I was devastated, I could tell myself that it probably happened because the foetus wasn't healthy and therefore it wasn't really a viable pregnancy and it felt more natural, like my body was doing what was right. The ectopic makes me because it could have been a perfectly healthy baby who just got stuck in my tubes. Does that make sense at all??

Yeah spangila as terry says you'd expect to actually get a positive opk when pregnant as the hormones are very similar. Not until you'd be able to get a positive hpt though so you could test if you think you might be. Although I'm sure you've read already that some people have really short LH surges and maybe you did this time? Also I've read not all women ovulate every month anyway and it doesn't even mean anything is wrong, it just happens sometimes.
I have to say terry I think you're doing awfully well and being very brave. I've done so much bitching on here about losing my babies and you totally have my respect right now!!
Freshstart you are 14dpo ish? You have amazing willpower to always test when you're late!! I can't do it. I have to know if I'm getting AF. Though since last mc my periods are really really horrible so it is actually helpful to know if I should be expecting it I guess.

Spangila welcome! I was pregnant last month and didn't know until I had 5 days of positive OPKs as they pick up the pregnancy hormone. I'd had what I thought was a period 2 weeks before that so assumed I wasn't. My pregnancy was ectopic though so that's why I'm still on here but in conclusion I would expect an OPK to be positive if you were pregnant.

I'm definitely waiting for the weekend. Promise..

Sounds like a few of us are teetering on the edge of POAS - have promised myself that I will wait till the weekend. Honest!

Well me and hubbie got our fertility tests back and all good so I'm a little more reassured. Fingers crossed this will be our month! Good luck to everyone else x

Aww thanks freshstart4us. I'm guessing you don't ovulate once an egg has been fertilised but maybe I didn't pay enough attention in biology...

My mum is well in to her 60's and not really hit the menopause yet, plus I'm reasonably fit and healthy.

I've been very bloated for the last few week but maybe I've just got fat ;)

Spangila you pose some interesting conundrums. Can't answer the ovulation-negative-test thing but if it's any consolation, 44 would be very early for menopause these days. :) With the improvement seen in diet and women's general health in the last century or so, menopause has been creeping back, and the average age in the UK, Australia and the like is 51. Like general fertility though, genetics are the best indicator, so best guide will be the age your mother and maternal grandmother went through it.
