Exciting times teacher mum! Welcome to the club!

Thanks for the post Mrs hjb. Good to have a dose of reality and so fantastic to hear your news, very chearing!

Don't worry freedom, I'm in the same boat. Trying hard to take it easy and not pressurise the situation. Not even agreed with hubby that we are ttc, just that we're no longer trying not to! But also so very excited as to what the future holds!

I stopped my pill 3 weeks ago, so expecting af next week or week after...we'll see....

All I've done is stop bc and take multi vitamins.

I too am just enjoying time with my hubby. Such a happy time making this decision together and we also celebrated 5 years of marriage on friday. So all blissed out after a trip to Paris.

What news girls? Siarie, any progress?

xxx

MrsHjb,

thank you for your post. I have to confess i was a bit overwhelmed with all the conception test and temp taking and watching for aunt flow etc. when i first started reading post. i thought i was taking it a bit too free flow because i just stopped taking my pill in May and started taking pre concept vitamins and was hanging back taking it easy.

I have to say aside from taking bits with me becasue i have no idea when AF will come I'm happy. i have had relexology because i heard it helps but really because I like massage and it relaxes me. my Hubbie and I start trying seriously thursday and i'm just looking forward to spending time with him and taking time out to think about our future whatever form that takes.

hope everyone has enjoyed the weekend.

catnip85 · 13/07/2014 16:43

Yeay! Well done teacher im keeping my FX for you.

mrshjb congratulations and thank you for sharing your experience. Makes me feel a bit better about having a glass of wine at the weekend! Its good to know that patience pays off. I think my cycle may take a while to return to normal as still no AF or even withdrawl bleed, although i have been getting light cramps since coming off the pill.

hows everyone else getting on? siarie any progress?

teachermummy2b · 13/07/2014 12:35

Well ive done it - im no longer on the pill! Very excited, although really dreading not knowing when to expect af :(

Siarie - im looking forward to an update! Its sounding very positive ...

I didn't have any cramps the first time. It didnt really feel like a normal AF in any way to be honest! Lasted 11 days on and off and was an array of colours (tmi!!!)

Siarie · 08/07/2014 11:17

Mrshjb Can I ask whether you had any cramps at all while you were waiting for your first AF?

mrshjb · 08/07/2014 10:50

Hey ladies, I just wanted to share my experience of coming off the pill. I came off yasmin in October last year and other than a break through bleed I had nothing for about 6 weeks. Then I had a few months of craziness! Basically had random length cycles, random length bleeds and lots of crazy symptoms. The worse month being one where I was convinced I was pregnant, only to get numerous bfns and then AF to arrive after 6 weeks again. I went to the doctors to have basic tests done and everything came back fine. She just told me that it takes some people longer to get regular cycles back after coming off the pill. Just to give you context, I'm 26, normal weight, previous normal periods before I went on the pill at 15 and no other health problems.

Anyways, I got my first 'normal cycle' in May and in June I got my BFP! I'm now around 11-12 weeks pregnant.

There are plenty of women on here who will try and scare you in to thinking you have PCOS or something else wrong if you are like me and take longer to settle down, but ignore them unless you have other symptoms. It's true the hormones leave your body quickly, but that doesn't necessarily mean your cycle will kick back in straight away! Obviously some women do get a regular cycle quickly- lucky them!

I found OPKs useless unless you're willing to test loads of times a day, including at work- which I wasn't! But I found temping helped. It gave me a clue of when I was ovulating, tied in with ewcm and also therefore an idea of when to expect AF and to test. I refused to test until AF was late- for me it's not worth the heartbreak of chemical pregnancies or having to analyse 'squinters' to death! When I got my BFP it was a big thick line and it appeared within about 5 seconds of me putting the test down!

My advice is don't worry if it takes a while, take conception vitamins because they are supposed to help regulate hormones too and happy dtding!! Oh yeah and don't worry too much about not drinking or what you're eating etc. The month I got my BFP I'd been on holiday and had a glass of red wine every night :) I'm convinced being relaxed helped!

Hope that helps :)

Siarie · 08/07/2014 08:46

Thanks catnip, really thought AF was coming yesterday but nothing so far!

To add to the confusion things are starting to taste weird, lol! Anyone else getting weird pregnancy symptoms after coming off their BC yet? Xx

catnip85 · 08/07/2014 07:59

beaver welcome to the nervous/ excited club! Is this yr first time ttc?

sorry to hear yr not feeling well siarie yes at least if AF comes you will know yr ovulating. Think positive!

Beaverfeaver2 · 07/07/2014 22:00

I took my last pill on 30/6, (marvelon) and have had my withdrawal bleed.

No idea what's going to happen next.

Nervous to find out

Siarie · 07/07/2014 09:04

catnip well that helps hearing your temps, mine started on 36.5 and went up to 36.7 yesterday, this morning is my lowest yet 36.4.

I am exhausted, I'm still in bed now because I feel so tired. Still needing to pee all the time, minor cramps in general and on my left side, nausea, hungry soon again after eating. All postive signs so far, but to be honest I don't mind if AF comes and it's all just BC width drawl as at least I will have a starting point for fertility friend.

catnip85 · 07/07/2014 07:22

Ive been getting the cramps too siarie My temp seems to have levelled off around 36.2-36.3 degrees, i think the earlier high reading was because i took it at a different time! This is all very complex Confused

hows everyone else doing?

Siarie · 06/07/2014 20:28

catnip So I'm not sure, I don't know what is high or low at the moment with regards to temps. But I haven't had a positive OPK yet, at least I don't think I have. I did have a much darker line at one point but I didn't think it was dark enough, however seems to have lightened a bit now.

On the interesting side, I have got some low level cramps if they can be called that going on and also I need to pee like often today. But I'm aware that it can be a side effect of the BC pills so I'm not getting my hopes up. I'm just going to try and chill out about the whole thing, DTD every other day and what happens will happen. If it doesn't then I'll deal with that when it comes :)

Lizzy So as far as I know and from talking to my GP it's totally fine to TTC as soon as possible, some ladies decide to delay until their first AF so that it's easier to date a pregnancy if it occurs. There is some speculation online about MC but there is not solid proof and plenty of babies born from TTC straight away.

LizzyBennet1813 · 05/07/2014 22:45

hi!

hoping no one will mind me jumping in here but I was about to start a new thread then saw this.
I took my last pill (microgynogn) on 25th may, had my usual bleed a few days later. it stopped a couple of days later, which was normal. Then on Thursday I started having some very, very light spotting. Still have the same thing now, I wouldn't really class it as a period cos there is barely anything (sorry if this is all tmi but I am also keeping this all in the quite from friends & family until I'm pregnant & have had 3 month scan - that's the plan anyway!)
Is this normal then as I saw someone say they didn't bleed for a year after stopping!
I've also been taking seven seas trying for a baby pills since I stopped the BC pill as I want a good stock of vits when we start trying.
I also heard you should wait 3 months before TTC after stopping the bc pill.

look forward to ready all your stories/experiences. good luck everyone!!

SecretSquirrel01 · 05/07/2014 19:48

Hi girls and welcome freedom and melinda!
Glad to know some of you are keeping it quiet too, I just don't want the extra pressure of excited family and friends, though I'm also bursting to tell someone!
Thanks for the advice siarie, I think I was just surprised by two afs in the same number of weeks, but my poor body must be wondering what's going on! Was on microgynon, but switched to marvelon a few years back.
Sorry to hear that a couple of you are worried about telling work, that's really rubbish. I work freelance, so never know when the next contract will be. Not sure how I'll balance things, but what will be will be hey girls?! I'm sure we'll muddle through x

catnip85 · 04/07/2014 20:48

I work in publishing, based in the city, been there 6 years and in that time only one person has taken maternity leave and she didn't come back (i think they made it v difficult for her) so im dreading telling work when the time comes

ha ha! Siarie it sounds like were both confuddled by the temp charting. How are u doing so far? My temp was high as soon as i came off the pill but no AF- ovulation or just messed up hormones?

welcome freedom and Melinda!

Freedom40 · 04/07/2014 13:14

So glad i found this forum. I'm TTC in secret because we don't want anyone to know until we are successful. My workplace is not very comfortable with pregnant women either so i cannot talk to anyone not even my friends because they also work banking and I cannot take the chance. Came off my BC in May and my hubbie can off his meds in March as we needs to wait 3 months before we start trying so in 10 days we'll be ready. i'm 39 my 1st little person (fingers crosses)so very excited. I cannot wait.

teachermummy2b so glad you started this thread so i can have somewhere to share.

Melinda76 · 04/07/2014 12:53

Hi everyone, I took my last pill (microgynon) last thurs and am excited and nervous about starting to try for a baby. I'm 38 and worried its not going to happen but it's now or never I think. Been with my fiancé for 9 years and he has children from a previous marriage so hopefully it'll happen quickly for us Smile

Siarie · 04/07/2014 12:26

Welcome to everyone that's joined the boat, teachermummy I've started OPK's from day one well even before then lol.

I want to be ready for any unexpected ovulation or just to get an idea of what is going on. I haven't had any bleeding yet so there is that ;)

Squirrel You might find you bleed at random times until it settles down, what pill were you taking?

catnip We too are keeping it a secret for the same reasons, I'm also doing the temping which I'm not sure is right either haha!

catnip85 · 04/07/2014 11:53

Welcome squirrel!

no news from me yet. I was going to wait til after first AF to start using opk mummy2b but am tracking my basal body temp (not 100% sure im doing it right though!) am mainly relying on dtd lots for now

DH and i are also keeping it secret for now- just don't want the pressure from family and friends- so it is really nice to have other ladies to talk to :)

SecretSquirrel01 · 04/07/2014 08:53

Sorry girls, just realised how much I just wrote !Blush

SecretSquirrel01 · 04/07/2014 08:03

Hi girlies! Can I join you please? Sounds like this is the right thread for me! Afraid I don't know all the lingo yet though, so you might have to bear with me.
Hubby and I have been married for 5 years this month and are secretly ttc. Though I'm finding not having some girls to talk to about things quite difficult - which is what brings me to you lovely ladies!
I've been on the pill for 13 years and think my cycle was very regular before, but that was a long time ago!
I came off the pill on 21st June, had a normal withdrawal bleed last week, which ended last friday. But for the last 4 days I've been having another bleed, like a light period - not what I expected! And can't see anywhere that this is normal.
Still, very excited about what the future may hold for all of us!
Hi @teachermummy, great to meet you. No, I don't think I'll start off with opks, but may well keep them as a back up if I get impatient!
Any updates from the rest of you girls?

teachermummy2b · 03/07/2014 22:51

Yay! Im glad theres a few of us! Ive still got a few pills to go, so will be a little while yet before i think about opks and timing for af/bfp. Just out of interest, how many will be using an opk from the start? At the moment im planning on just dtd as much as possible - but that could soon change (im not the most patient of people)!

catnip85 · 02/07/2014 17:44

FX for you siarie!

im in the same boat soexcited. Been taking the pill for 12 years and no AF since i switched on to cerazette 3 years ago. So im not really sure what to expect! Absolutely nada so far not even any spotting. Will do opk soon if nothing happens but thought id give things a chance to start getting back to normal first. Im 28 and this is my first time ttc

SoExcitedNow · 02/07/2014 15:55

I'm joining you. Now we are 32, married and settled, DH and I are ttc dc1. I took my last pill (Gederel 30/150) on the 10th June, so here goes cycle 1! I'm expecting AF/BFP on the 8th July. My cycles used be very regular & 28 days but I've been on one pill or another since I was 17 and don't really know what to expect yet!
