Faint positives for last three cycles

Hi, this is my first post in here. I am very lucky & already have a 3 year old & an 8 month old. This is our third cycle of ttc number 3.

For the three cycles I have tested on, I have had faint positive lines on branded tests however haven't been convinced & have had my usual heavy periods (except this cycle but I'll get to that in a minute!). My cycle length is still not settled from my second baby, periods started again at 6 weeks despite EBF (still bfing), but anywhere between 29-32 days. This month I used ovulation predicting sticks alongside my usual signs of ovulation, just to try to make sure I was reading them right, I was.

This month, my period is due anytime from yesterday until Thursday (day 32). I had a faint positive on first response last night, faint +ve on a Sainsbury own brand & faint +ve on a clear blue non digital today. I now have some very light pinky discharge & don't know if it's the start of my period which I wouldn't have expected until tomorrow really even though if could have been due yesterday, ir possibly implantation bleeding.

I know nobody can answer whether or nt I'm pregnant, will have to do another test in the morning, buuut, am wondering if anyone could shed some light on why I've been having positive tests. Could I still have hcg in my system from my pregnancy to term 8 months ago or wtf is going on with my body?! DP has been able to see lines last month but I haven't shown him this month as don't want to excite him for nothing again.

Sorry for the length & I hope it makes sense, does anyone have any ideas? TIA.

I'm so sorry for all your going through tucking and I feel so awful for you and your little one. Like the others said, please don't feel like you can't post here x

tuckingfits · 13/07/2014 01:05

Thanks ohm, it is awful. My baby went to sleep after a huge dinner & lots of water but is now awake & distressed & rooting, won't accept water, formula or a dummy (never would) & is just getting more & more upset. I think I'm going to have to concoct a midnight feast & hope that works. I'm so tired, it's like the early weeks of pregnancy where you just crash & can't keep your eyes open. But with no point to it.

I guess she'll will just get so tired she can't stay awake any longer? No point taking her out in the car as she always wakes when it stops & I'm probably not safe to drive anyway given how tired I feel. What a fucking nightmare this has turned into. Utmost respect to women who have dealt with this more than once.

I've just come across your thread tonight and read it all.

What a horrible situation that you are still dealing with. Breaks my heart to think of what your and youngest must be going through tonight. I remember what my DD was like at that age and how utterly heart breaking it would be to not be able to give her that comfort. I wish you the best for getting through these next few days with your DD. And also for the decisions you face in the next few months - you sound quite torn over what to do next for the best. Good luck

tuckingfits · 12/07/2014 21:06

At the risk of sounding like a broken record, thank you all again.

showy, that's so kind of you. The registrar was just going to prescribe the methotrexate - no mention of bfing, it was me who said that I assumed I wouldn't be able to breastfeed anymore (and then dissolved into tears). She didn't know but said it probably would be the end of it, went & got her drugs bible thing & it says 4 days before feeding again & to pump and dump. I've read a lot of research into it & it all points to there being none found in breast milk at all from a single shot but the recommendations I have read almost everywhere have been to wait 4 days. It's nasty stuff & I would hate to pass anything through to her, even though I know it is most unlikely.

I'll definitely phone the BFN drugs line though, that will definitely help.

DD is still missing the comfort & food aspect of bfing, refuses formula from all receptacles & has replaced milk with drinking lots of water. I am missing it. I loathed bfing the first time round, I persevered with nipple shields until 9.5 months when DS couldn't be bothered anymore. This time it has been a breeze almost the whole time & I finally understand why women who love it, love it.
My god, the cups & bottles that are strewn about my house tonight! Unbelievable amount of extra work!

I am feeling some side effects (diarrhea, nice). Nothing else to report though.

I'm so grateful to you amazing women for going through all this with me. I know we MNers don't hug (I'm the highest avoider of awkward hugs) but if we did (& I wasn't hug averse) I'd give you each a squeezy cuddle.xx

tucking, please talk on here or start another thread.

Can I also advise you ring the breastfeeding network's drug helpline to check on the best advice for bfing after methotrexate. I seem to remember that the advice is different depending upon dosage as my friend had exactly the same query. It IS contraindicated in bfing but there is research which suggests that the one off injection for an ectopic pregnancy does not pass into breastmilk in the volume which would necessitate a prolonged break from feeding. Please talk to the people who know about this to double check you are doing the best thing with regards to bfing.

Email or phone info here

It is such an awful time for you and I can imagine not being able to feed your child is devastating for you. My friend has just replied to my text. She was advised 48hrs break in breastfeeding following her single shot of methotrexate which she thinks was 60mg. It was a year ago. Even if it's 48hrs, that's better than 4 days.

Please keep talking on here. Many, many MNers have walked the same path sadly.

HungryHorace · 12/07/2014 06:48

Oh tucking, I'm so sorry. I really hoped the twin theory would be right.

As iam says, please don't think you can't talk here, because you can. Xx

ELR · 11/07/2014 22:36

tucking so sorry you are going through this, I hope the 4 days pass quickly and you get some rest. (((((((Hugs)))))))

iamdivergent · 11/07/2014 20:36

tucking please dont feel like you can't talk here now; we're here for you x

so sorry Thanks I really feel for you Sad

tuckingfits · 11/07/2014 20:17

Had internal & external scans. No pregnancy to be seen so spent all day being told I was a "pregnancy of unknown location". I've had a methotrexate injection to kill the pregnancy wherever it is & now can't breastfeed my baby for 4 days, which has devastated me to a ridiculous level.

Have to go back every week for 4 weeks to check levels return to normal & can't ttc for 3 months. Tbh not sure I want to anymore anyway. Can't do this again. I don't want to stop bfing yet & baby doesn't take a bottle & has been hysterical which is just not like her. All she wanted from me when I got home was a cuddle & a feed & all I could do was cuddle a screaming baby & try to foist a cup/bottle/syringe/newborn feeding cup on her. Horrendous.

I guess conception isn't really the place for this so, I'll read any replies & be very grateful to you for taking the time to support me over the last couple of weeks but not post here anymore.xxx

Thanks
TinyTear · 11/07/2014 07:01

I have no idea why no one has scanned you yet. Good luck

tuckingfits · 10/07/2014 20:59

Durr. As always :)

I think hcg is too low at this point to be a successful pregnancy. It's somewhere in the 500s and should be at least 1000 for 6 weeks.

I guess there are just no answers until tomorrow. Will let you know.

Oh gosh, what a rollercoaster. I think at this point they'll be erring on the side of presuming ectopic. If your hcg is still low and the ultrasound shows nothing in the uterus, the changing levels point to ectopic. I have a friend who had a v similar experience and she was given methotrexate and monitored until hcg was zero. They also suggested that an incomplete miscarriage with retained products could cause this iirc.

I wish you the best of luck.

ladyflower23 · 10/07/2014 18:53

That it was twins and losing one reduced hcg and now preg progressed with other is all I can think of too. I really hope that turns out to be the case. Although would be very sad you lost one. Good luck and keep us posted

Your mind must be working overtime, not knowing what in earth is going on. Strange for the levels to drop but to then Increase again. Have you had any pain anywhere? Perhaps the vanishing twin theory your mw friend suggested may be why?
Hmm. Hope the scan gives you some answers.

tuckingfits · 10/07/2014 16:08

Sorry to reactivate this, but had more blood taken this morning to check hcg still dropping to normal levels. However, had a call back to say it's increased...

Have no idea what's happening but have appointment with ob/gynae and a scan appointment for 10.30 tomorrow. I suspect it has implanted in the wrong place as keep asking me about pain, but I haven't had any & no bleeding since light bleed last Monday.

Any ideas? I don't want to google!
