The Rules...

(1) A lady may only POAS on a Friday.
(2) Friday means the day that everyone calls Friday in the time zone where you spent the night.
(3) Rule (1) does not apply to POA-OPK-S, UNLESS they are being illegitimately used as surrogate HCG detectors, in which case Rule (1) most definitely does apply
(4) Rule (1) does not apply following a BFP because if you want to waste £25 a day POADigiS that's your prerogative
(5) Rule (1) does not apply if a lady is POAS in an attempt to get a BFN to prove she can start DTD with intent
(6) Rule (1) does not apply if a lady wants for unknown reason to pee on an actual stick, like a twig or some such, if that lady is unexpectedly caught short whilst tramping in the forest looking for bears.
(7) These rules (including Rule (1)) are subject to the change at any time if the ladies of the Posifrickentivity thread decide on a whim come up with empirical evidence to prove that it is luckier to POAS on any other day of the week
(8) Violators of Rule (1) shall be subject to fish throwing.

And as a grand finale, why not pledge to NEVER POAS before 14DPO?

I share your urge to get riding again monten. I had my own horse until I was six months pregnant with dd then I put him out on loan, with view to having him back in January this year. Unfortunately though, he died while he was with his loaner, total heartbreak as he was my first and a complete angel (he taught me so much and we competed in dressage until I was about five months pg). I have ridden twice since - once on a hack and then at a polo taster session that mil and fil got me for Christmas 2012 - but both times, I got in my car and blubbed like a baby!!

broodylicious Edwards is almost always girls too, my baby was a boy which I was told was very unusual.

Funny, because I always thought boys are more likely to inherit genetic conditions (or so I remember from GCSE biology class).

Do you ride? I used to be horse mad but haven't ridden in ages, I have a massive compulsion to start again (definitely to do with having been pregnant and now now - seize the day and all that).

Interesting to read about turners etc. Devastating but interesting. A girl at my stables told me when I was pregnant that she had five mc and each time, it was a boy she was carrying. She's got three very healthy mouthy teenage girls so she just must not have been able to carry boys. Isn't it strange what our bodies do? Flippin horrible sometimes but so intriguing at the same time.

And I should also say that if you had had it in the past (and many people have and just thought they've had the flu), it is only the active infection that poses a risk to babies, if you've just got the antibody in your system, you are immune from getting it again and it poses no further risk. X

Monten, sorry I didn't mean to worry you. You'd know if you had it, you'd feel like you had all over body flu. You can ask for a TORCH screen at your next blood test to see if you've ever had it. Mine was clear, and my cat bit me the last time I was pg. It will be (the dreaded) bad luck, or it will be treatable, I am sure. But it won't have been your fault. Enjoy your (guilt free) wine. :)

Oh god...the t word. Toxoplasmosis. In the run up to getting my BFP I dug out an entire flower bed that I know for a fact the cats use as their toilet. I did wear gloves most of the time. Also, both of them are total jessies and have never killed a bird or mouse in their life. The only time one of them ever caught a mouse she just licked it for hours till DP caught it and threw it out the window Blush. So hopefully the chances are very low.

They will tell you the sex, mostly because a lot of these conditions are sex specific. Turners is always girls, for example. It was nice to know, it made me feel more connected, in a funny kind of way. If it was normal, rest assured it won't be anything you've done. There are other mechanisms at work to do with blood clotting, auto immunity, placenta development, hormones, nk cells etc. These can be tested for and treated in many cases, but they are not lifestyle factors. Unless you know you had extremely bad food poisoning that left you with a high temp or seriously dehydrated, or you contracted toxoplasmosis, it won't be anything you could have prevented. Most of the food rules (except alcohol) are there to prevent these infections because those foods can carry I slightly higher risk of food poisoning, and not because they are bad in themselves. Yes, I think Edwards is similar to Turners, in the sense that it is random so not any more likely to occur again. Part of me is worried it will come back and say that the baby is chromosomally normal and then I'll worry whether it was something I did.

Can I ask, did it tell you what sex the baby was? I knew my first baby was a boy, which was quite comforting. But this one....I dont think I want to know. Whether it's another boy or a girl, if I dont then go on to have a boy or a girl in the future, I feel like I'll always think of the one I lost. Hope that makes sense.

Monten, I have had karyotyping on myself, DH and mmc3. We're normal (there is a rouge balanced translocated chromosome in the family, but DH was clear of it - they tested him because of that history. Mmc3 had Turner's syndrome. Its a random missing chromosome, of a similar incidence as Edwards. Both are normally considered bad luck one off mistakes, I think (although you may know more about Edwards). I had to sign a parental consent form when they did it. Its good to have as much concrete info as possible in terms of moving forward with any testing and treatment you may need in the future. It takes about 6 weeks for the results to come back.

Congrats to all the BFPs! It really does give me hope.

My house doesnt know what has hit it, I've spent the last two days in a fury of cleaning and DIYing. Also managed to blow 200 quid in Ikea. I've decided to cheer myself up by spending LOTS of money. New summer wardrobe next, doesnt help that I have put on about a stone after 2x first trimesters of eating anything in sight (and still no babies to show for it)

Question: Has anyone had karyotype testing done after a miscarriage? Because of my history (TFMR in Jan following Edwards diagnosis, MMC this month, having ERPC on Monday) they have agreed to do it. I'm a bit worried about it and would like to prepare myself for how they communicate the results and what (if anything) its likely to show. The 12 year old doctor at the EPU clinic who ordered it seemed to have no idea Confused

Phew - I found the new thread! I am having yet another wtf cycle this month - enough already! Had a lighter-than-light period followed by an endless wait to ovulate. Still haven't had a +ve OPK and had mentally written off this cycle, but today I have tons of ewcm (sorry for tmi). So I might just be going to ovulate late, fingers crossed sometime in the next few days. I'm on cd18 I think. I'm going to jump on dh later just in case we're still in with a chance this month.
