A thread for anyone TTC with a ClearBlue Fertility Monitor!

Morning ladies!! I was hunting around for a recent thread for anyone TTC with a CBFM but couldn't find any - please let me know if one is ongoing that I didn't find!! But otherwise I wanted a place to share experiences with other ladies using this rather interesting gadget. It makes big claims for success!!

About me - I'm TTC baby #1, cycle #3, expecting AF or BFP on 2-12 June.

I'm still having slightly long cycles after stopping the pill - this is my first cycle using the monitor properly, because my last cycle went on for 40 days, and the machine got bored and stopped asking for sticks after 25 days!!

I'm currently on CD09 and had my first day of a high reading today, although I know the machine gives out high readings like they're going out of fashion so not reading much into that! Will be kicking off the SMEP (sperm meets egg plan!) from today though anyway just to be sure.

Would love to hear from you!! Smile

Lindsay81 yes if you got a peak yesterday then you will get another today and then a high the following day regardless of whether the stick is a new one or old.

Morethanalittlebitconfused · 20/07/2014 08:17

Cd10 and got a high as predicted

Lindsay81 · 19/07/2014 23:39

Thanks girls :) I have actually just gone back to the OPK and it is positive. I guess I looked at it too soon this morning. Yes, I did an OPK yesterday and was def negative. So looks like today is definitely peak 1. (And DH just got lucky on the couch. LOL! ;)

Thanks for the tip re the sticks. Will it still ask me for a stick tomorrow, even though it will automatically give another peak and then high? It doesn't mess up it "getting to know your cycle" if I don't test tomorrow? They are SO expensive so any way to conserve them, I am down with!

TheGrandHighWitch · 19/07/2014 23:08

Lindsay81 did you do an OPK on cd14? If so you may have started your surge on cd14 after you did the opk, it was picked up the following morning by the clearblue test and by the time you did cd15's opk it had gone down again maybe? Confused

I had a reverse of your situation last month and had a high reading on the monitor and a positive opk that afternoon. The following day the monitor picked up a peak for me but that afternoons opk was negative. Maybe you are ovulating earlier this month for some reason.

This cycle is even more weird with me going from low on cd12 to peak on cd13. Very odd as I seem to have completely bypassed the 'high' stage. Still, means I have only used 4 sticks this cycle.

Incidentally, little tip to save sticks for those who are new to the cbfm. Don't test after your first peak reading as you will get one more peak, then a high, then a low reading automatically regardless of the sticks original reading.

Mel3062 · 19/07/2014 12:53

Welcome Lynsey frustrating isn't it! I still use other opks too so costs me a fortune. I would Dtd anyway just in case! I think my moniter has missed my surge this month as got 2 other positives on Sunday!

Lindsay81 · 19/07/2014 12:30

Hi girls

I've seen your thread around and am on my second month of using the monitor. Was hoping you might have some thoughts on a question I have.

For info, my cycles are 27 days and my luteal phase is usually only around 8 or 9 days. Fertility specialist says this doesn't matter (yeah, ok...)

Anyway, first month I got highs from cd14 to cd25 then lows, so no peak.
This month I got first high on cd12 and first peak today cd15. However, an OPK stick today is not even nearly positive and I wouldn't usually expect it to be until cd 16/ cd17.

Who do you believe?! The OPK or the monitor?!

Whoops! Sorry for lame one word post a few days okay.

I'm just venturing into the world of CBFM, I bought a second hand one off ebay for the bargain price of £15, sticks are coming early next week and next AF due in 2 weeks ish (my cycles are quite irregular 29, 41 then 36 days since I started charting them on an app).

TTC #1 and oscillating between finding it exciting and frustrating. Kinda annoying that I spent time earlier in life being worried about getting pregnant at the wrong time having not realised how hard it can be to get pregnant when you're trying! Not loving my post pill for 16 years skin but nevermind.

Good luck to all! X

Hello all,

Aprilray · 18/07/2014 09:54

Yay for the high Cazzacol
Mel I had 9 high readings from day 16 last month and then I had one low reading before it stopped asking for sticks. I think it missed my surge and am really hoping it picks it up this cycle. My missing sticks and replacement sticks turned up so I am certainly well stocked for a few more cycles.

cazzacol · 18/07/2014 07:45

Day 16 and HIGH ??????????????

Patiently waiting for work day to be over now ........

Mel3062 · 18/07/2014 06:37

Day 16 today still high, more sticks needed to buy :/
Ff has changed ovul from mon to tues when oh was away! This would fit with the purple test and cheap opk. Maybe the moniter missed surge this month so annoying!! Will it ask to test all cycle or give up??

Aprilray · 17/07/2014 10:24

I didn't get a high until CD16 last cycle Cazzacol so hang in there!
I'm only on CD5 at the mo so can't see the monitor starting to demand sticks for a little while yet.

cazzacol · 16/07/2014 19:12

Day 14 and still low.........

Pieandmashed · 16/07/2014 10:38

Ta muchly all waves, jumped in at the deep end with all of this so it's nice to know I'm not the only one bumbling around with the sticks in the mornings and crossing fingers Smile.

Mnippy - very nice to hear it's worth sticking with! Massively FX for everyone now!

Especially as it seems to be stuck on high (poor DH! Grin), quite interested to see if that changes at all as its the first cycle, seems to vary between different people so far. I feel like the monitor should be doing um, something with all that screen... Maybe can play angry birds on it...

I had the same thing with the monitor being one day behind how I normally countdown to the next AF visit as April & guineapig but put that down to generally being new to the whole process + morning braincell deficiency rather than the PM arrival of AF, which was unusual.

Morethanalittlebitconfused · 16/07/2014 07:46

I was so tired this morning I couldn't work the stick out Blush as in that the end had a lid on it. Got there in the end

On a low which is reassuring

Mel3062 · 16/07/2014 07:13

Mnippy that's reassuring! I'm
On high again today

Mnippy · 15/07/2014 20:30

Can I join? CBFM (ebay, second hand...) worked for me on DS1 - took two cycles. Now about to use it to try for a second. Still up at 5am with DS1 so hoping I won't be too bleary to hit the stick.

guineapig1 · 15/07/2014 19:29

April that is what I find confusing too. I have always counted CD1 as the day AF arrives, even if it is in the evening, so it is strange to think of the next day as day 1. I suppose it is a bit academic though when you use the monitor as that will tell you when you get the surge that tips it from high to peak regardless of what CD you are on.

Aprilray · 15/07/2014 11:52

Hi ladies,
AF arrived for me on Saturday while I was away - in the afternoon which is weird for me so had to count Sunday as CD1 so only on CD3 - guessing the monitor won't ask for sticks for a while yet as I only got my first high on CD16 last month so will be quiet here for the next week or so.
Welcome Pieandmashed
FX for lots of CBFM BFPs this month

Mel3062 · 15/07/2014 05:40

Day 13 and still high for me though both lines look the same to me but oh away so I'm not complaining!
Ha ha to the cup! Sadly my oh knows why mines there been though I hide it in the cupboard when not in use!

guineapig1 · 14/07/2014 20:45

Ha morethan, it will be interesting to see where the peaks/ highs are in comparison then!

Welcome Pieandmash, more the merrier. Loving that your DH hasn't noticed the plastic cup!

Pieandmashed · 14/07/2014 13:52

Hello ladies! Thought I'd join in with everyone else giving one of these monitors a go :) could only get the touchscreeny one at our Boots- ouch, pricey! But they were doing 20% off the tests too so I got a bunch of those as well... in for a penny and all that... Day 9 cycle 1 and no peak, only highs so far... Hope everyone else is getting on well with the monitor, keep waking up at 6am every morning to catch that first pee, husband hasn't noticed the plastic cup in the bathroom yet!

Morethanalittlebitconfused · 13/07/2014 12:44

guinea sounds like our cycles are in sync this month!

guineapig1 · 13/07/2014 12:43

Yup, CD2/3 (depending if you use my dates or the monitors dates which counts a day late if AF turns up after midday). It wants me to test from CD8 (so my CD9).

Sounds promising Mel, get at it girl! My friend was saying that the trouble is that it's not an exact science as every cycle is a tiny bit different, so if the window of opportunity is there we need to make the most of it!

Mel3062 · 13/07/2014 08:22

Yey ;) did af arrive guinea??
Moniter said high for me but purple digi was peak so just going to try my best this week!
