Hopefully we'll see more BFPs on this one!

jesse motility can be improved. dhs motility went from 4% to 20% after 2 weeks on that fertilaid stuff. I know it doesn't feel like it but its a good result and could mean an easier fix than ivf. good to hear all your results cane back OK. Thanks

Jessewalt · 07/06/2014 16:24

Just a quick update for those of you who are interested....
I got a letter from the private clinic today with my results. All good thankfully. My AMH is 22 which is plum normal for my age and is a representation of ovarian reserve. My USS was also normal. We have an appointment with private consultant a week in Thursday to discuss.
Mr jesses results have not been as good, with low motility, but good numbers and morphology.

Slightly worryingly, we have received a letter from nhs. In my area, you get referred by your gp to gynae clinic for initial investigations unless there is a problem. We recieved a letter directly from the assisted conception unit (not where gp referred us to) - this must mean the gp told them the semen analysis results, and they have bypassed the gynae part as they think we need assisted conception.

Still living in hope that this miraculously happens any month.....
A girl can dream....

HollyBen · 06/06/2014 21:27

That's rubbish vic. I had to wait until after DH had his 2nd SA but we only had to wait a month between them. Definitely worth following up if others have had a different response. No nhs IVF for us as we are fortunate enough to already have a 3 year old dd, also I am 40 next month so that also rules us out.

Nhs appointment should be within 12 weeks of me returning the form they sent -assuming they accept it without the date of my last smear (which I forgot to add before posting it)

lil1ady · 06/06/2014 20:54

Catching up quickly, Vic why do you have to wait until after next SA to do your blood test? Can you get in touch with the clinic and ask them what they need and when (which i would guess is bound to be different to what the dr has said) and then go back to a different GP (the one this girl finds name of) and demand they sort it out. Then when you've been referred make a complaint about the GP!!

maybug3 · 06/06/2014 20:49

That's all so shocking that it can be so didn't for different people even from the same practice!

We had to have been ttc for 2 years before we were even allowed to start tests let alone get the referral in our last area! Was gutted when we moved as we got to the 2 year mark to find if we'd moved earlier we would have been able to get tests after just one year!

Plus we're lucky in this area to get 3 rounds of IVF if we need it. Only 2 in last area.

So wrong.

Anyway need some advice. .. After wondering if I should chase gp for test results, dh has received a letter today asking him to make a routine appointment to discuss his recent test result. It was his first sa...2nd still to be done.
Should I be panicking? I haven't told him that most of your seemed to get results by phone as don't want to worry him but because he thinks it is routine he's decided to get his next sa done before he bothers making the appointment! That means he won't see the gp for another 3 weeks at least as we're on holiday in between. I'm not sure I can worry for that long!!!!

m33r · 06/06/2014 12:47

Find out who and don't be scared to push!

OP posts:
victoria401 · 06/06/2014 12:16

She said we had to make sure we had done all these tests at the exact right moment to the clinic would just send us back to the GP! A girl in the new fb group got referred from our surgery in less time than we've been ttc with the exact same diagnosis as us. She's going to find out which GP it was. She said she was referred in the Feb, had appointment in June and preg in August! She now has a bouncing baby girl from her first and only cycle.

And yes its all about being positive and keep moving forward.

m33r · 06/06/2014 11:14

vic that is ridiculous. My doc sent our letter off BEFORE I had bloods and before my DH was even registered at the surgery. As a result, we've hammered through the process. So crap that it isn't the same for you.

All doom and gloom for your particular situation or for ivf / fertilty process generally? Just don't think that is helpful! We need to stay positive. It will be disappointing regardless of whether you hoped / prepared. Grrrrr to your area!

OP posts:
victoria401 · 06/06/2014 11:01

They won't refer us until dh's 2nd SA comes back and says the same. Need to wait til the end of July! Then I need my bloods done so that's another month after that! Won't get our letter sent off to the clinic until Sept/Oct now! I've joined a facebook group for my local clinic and things seem to move quick once you get a referral so I'm still hoping for my one and only funded cycle before I'm 35 next year! The doc was all doom and gloom about the referral though. Warning us of the struggle and disappointment and not to have our hopes up etc. Cheers then.

Hope your wait isn't too long for nhs holly. Do you know how many ivf cycles you get in your area if it comes to that?

I'm really hating this postcode lottery of England. If we lived up the road in the next county where DH is from we would get 3 funded cycles. And if we lived in Wales, where I was born and bred we'd get 2, but massive waiting lists!

Feel better soon m33r x and I'm going to adopt your song as our theme theme tune too x

OP posts:
HollyBen · 06/06/2014 09:43

Thanks for the info on the procedure m33r. Glad to hear they didn't find any issue and hope you recover quickly so you can get on with TTC.

vic I can't see why the GP wouldn't refer you. Fingers crossed and let us know how you get on.

I contacted my local private hospital who said I'd have to go for a 30 min apt first which would cost £195 + vat then they would decide whether a scan would be appropriate. We have so much going on with builders at the mo I don't think we can do it. Guess I just need to wait on the nhs apt

m33r · 06/06/2014 09:19

I cried my eyes out for that very reason when I went in ... There's a take that song which has the lyric 'how did it come to this; how did it come to this' and that just plays over and over in my head all the time!

Good luck this morn!

M33R so glad to hear your procedure went well and no issues arising for you. Take care of yourself today though, sounds like quite a horrific experience. Hopefully you get upduffed now with your new shiny clear tubes ;)

Vic good luck for GP, be adamant to get a referral! Hope your appointment goes well.

victoria401 · 06/06/2014 08:39

Just re-read your post more thoroughly. You ARE going through what I'm going through. We are both having tests and seeing fertility specialists and prob needing ivf. Its equally uncertain, upsetting and invasive/intrusive on our bodies and minds. You are further along and had to have a very invasive painful procedure done just now. I can't believe any of us have to go through this crap.

m33r · 06/06/2014 08:39

vic does she know how long you've been trying? If not, exaggerate if you have to. Do not leave without a referral! In all day so let us know what they say. Are you and DH ok? Hope so and thinking of you both x

OP posts:
victoria401 · 06/06/2014 08:01

Morning m33r. No there is nothing that can be done about dh's sperm. Been researching antisperm antibodies and its basically the end of the line. The sperm either can't swim or can't penetrate the egg depending on where the antibody is bound. Dh's are 100% bound. Apparently over 40% bound causes significant infertility let alone 100%. He's now on wellman to try and improve the ones he's got as he had a low normal forms count too. That's just to make it easier to get good ones for future ivf/icsi.

Appointment with GP in one hour.... Please refer us Mrs GP! Pretty please! I'm getting old!

m33r · 06/06/2014 07:00

vic no I don't think it is compulsory... Also, I opted for lap instead of plain hsg as it was less of a wait and I wanted to know if our not conceiving was my 'fault' ASAP. Think - but not sure - that hsg does the same but is less invasive. That said , with lap, if they find a prob they can try to fix it there and then whereas with hsg, if they find a prob they them need to do a lap-like procedure so this was very much my choice.

They told me 4-7 days recovery. Yesterday they told me to take a full week off but I'm feeling ok except last night when the local anaesthetic around the cuts started to wear if
Off and also can't stand up straight but only on day 2.

With your own situation, is there any chance that DH's next sa will be better? I'm just thinking maybe there's a chance and keep dtd-ing? So hard and I can't imagine what you're going through. How is DH?

Evening girls

Lots of posting here all at once! I feel quite sad that I'm not in sync with all my girlies lol!

Goodness m33r, sounds like a bit of an ordeal. How long will you be in discomfort/off work? Bit of an odd thing about the tube clips and not mentioning it before. Is a lap compulsary before ivf do you know?

Good luck with the ov blue, hope its happening for you x

Hi ginger, welcome back. Glad you had a chilled month. I guess now we know we can't conceive naturally we are on a permanent break. Wish I didn't have to feel ovulation pains tho... Bit of a kick in the face.

m33r · 05/06/2014 21:26

She explained that yes it would BUT if water is found, you need to have you tubes clipped pre ivf as the liquid can dislodge a foetus. I really thought I should have been asked this well before this point as feel it is a HuGE - and in mine and DH's relationship anyway - a joint decision. It would also depend on how long you'd been trying naturally (if I was 5 years, I'd prob have said clip away) and also when your ivf was due: if six minths away, no clipping; if six weeks, just get on with it.

As it was I did not have this issue but wanted to flag it up for others.

Thanks all for your support; hope this helps and happy to answer any questions on laps.

Welcome bk ginger doesnt feel like a month since youve been gone glad you enjoyed it and your feeling better about everything.

Sorry to all AF has got how dare she

Ladies im getting my hopes up here but it feels like my body might be trying hopefully succeeding to ovulate.

For 3 dats ive had ewcm like major clumps tmi I know, migraines, pokey pain and today cramps. Im cd 15 today but really dont want to get my hopes up ahhhh

m33r · 05/06/2014 21:23

Hi everyone!

First of all, all hail the nhs who were utterly wonderful and could not do enough for me. My results were that I was absolutely perfect. I had thought maybe I would want a diagnosis so that I had answers but the relief I feel having been told I'm ok suggests this - for me - was a defence mechanism. Psychologically feeling great and really hopeful as for the next three months (arbitrary time frame) I'm off alcohol; DH is on vits and I've had a flush so roll on next AF to I get back on the horse.

As to the procedure: I was fine until I got in with anaesthetist and two AMAZING nurses and I started crying my eyes out (how has it come to this etc). Nurses were brill. Next thing I was waking up. I DO NOT enjoy waking up and was a state and in a lot of pain but they quickly got my pain killers up. I had a sandwich after about twenty mins of coming round and sat a bit uncomfortable and VERY tired and spaced out.

Doc came round with good news - I cried again! - then I called hubby to get me. I needed a wheelchair to car as was woozy and then went into agony in the car. Since then I've been in and out of sleep and can't sit up because of shoulder pain but am quite happy lying done reading (thank goodness for kindles).

The most significant thing is that when the doc came round pre-op she asked me if, if they found my tubes were logged with liquid, did she want me to 'clip' my tubes then and there. I nodded away - easygoing, do what you have to do - then paused and said but that would remove all chance of me getting pg naturally? She ex

Hi all

AF finally got me today (as well as everyone else it seems!). She'd been threatening and for once I've been so upset she's been late as it means I'll have to repeat my day 1 bloods and I sooooo enjoyed them on Monday!!!

I would certainly consider a trip abroad if it was cheaper and more effective. A holiday with the chance of a baby at the end...Sounds like heaven.

M33r - hope it went well today

How long did you all wait before chasing both blood and sa results? DH sa and my day 21 were over 10 days ago but we weren't told when or how to get results...

GingerbreadBabyPlease · 05/06/2014 21:01

Hi everyone, I have just been catching up with you all after my month off! I had such a lovely time, life just went back to normal, it was so lovely not constantly thinking about dates, dtd and all the ifs and whens. I was worried about delaying the chance to get pg by another month, but I would thoroughly recommend a month off to you all, no sex allowed, and just enjoy life again for a bit! What's one month when you've been at it a year!
My month was cut short a bit by the early arrival of AF on Sunday though, so it is time to get back to it now.
Too much chatter going on to reply to you all, but just wanted to say vic I have been thinking of you after your DHs results, I hope you are ok, hang in there, and I am feeling confident that everything will work out ok for you, and the rest of us on here, it might just take some time. Has he had a date through to have the test repeated yet?
m33r hope today went ok for you!
Sorry to those of you who got AF. Evil witch!

With regards to IVF, I have noticed quite a bit of info on clinics abroad from MN, and it does look quite interesting, I think I will certainly look into it and do some research if it comes to that for me, there is no way I could afford the £5000 price tag in this country, and I wouldn't be entitled to any NHS treatment. What do the rest of you think about having it done abroad?

Mam31 · 05/06/2014 16:04

Not sure of cost Vic but it's definately cheaper and they provide accommodation included in cost. You have to add your flights though. But I'd rather pay for it over there than over here if success rates are higher!
