I vaguely remember poking pains in my foof during the night to.

Any ideas or am I just weird?

blueeyes147 · 10/06/2014 15:23

What are peoples general opinion on drinking or smoking around (we are both social smokers, none during the week but a few with drinks at weekend) ovulation days? do people obstain or cut down? we have heard such conflicting ideas, basically doctor told my OH last week it wount make a difference

Mam31 · 10/06/2014 15:02

Thanks lil, from what I've read the no sore boobs could be the diet. But not sure about the spotting, won't hold my breath as no doubt the spotting will start later on or tomorrow! How you doing lil?

lil1ady · 10/06/2014 14:54

fx its a good sign mam and not just the diet! but even if it is that's good news that its improving your cycle!

Mam31 · 10/06/2014 14:50

Great news Vic! About time too!

M33R, wow sounds like you are really going for it and rightly so after your flush! How's the no alcohol and coffee going? I've cut out coffee for 2 wks now and not missing it much as I'm feeling better for it! I'm also on a very healthy eating plan lots of fresh fruit and veg, few carbs and only on the wkend. I haven't managed to cut out alcohol but I have cut down.

M33R sounds like you have everything covered! Go for it!!!! Hope it's your month!

As for me, I need a slap! Cd23 here, no usual pre af sore boobs and no pre af spotting so far. Af due Saturday and would usually have both of those things by now. Maybe the change in my diet is impacting those things......but I can't help but get my hopes up a little bit.....SLAP ME!!!!!!

HollyBen · 10/06/2014 13:41

Brilliant news vic! Hope that appointment comes soon.

lil1ady · 09/06/2014 22:10

Vic what an amazing result! just goes to show non is right about standing up for yourself. make sure you chase them up again if you haven't heard in a couple of weeks to make sure they've actually sent the referral!! Grin

m33r · 09/06/2014 20:39

vic that is great news! Well done for pushing! Keep us posted x

xBlueberry88x · 09/06/2014 20:02

Well done vicky its good to do your research im glad he agreed with you.

Hopefully it won't take to long!!

Feeling wiped today plus I keep getting dizzy so getting into bed at 8 good times.

Hope everyone is ok

victoria401 · 09/06/2014 18:27

Go me! Other doc agrees with me that we have grounds for early referral and said I'd obviously done my research! Said there was no point repeating the sa as things unlikely to improve and no point repeating my bloods as they plus the ultrasound show I ovulate. No point delaying as my 35th birthday approaches. Result! Feel more positive now. My new friend said they got appointment 4 months after referral and then was starting treatment 8 weeks after that!

m33r · 09/06/2014 14:28

Good job vic! Hopefully you'll have some good news later today!

victoria401 · 09/06/2014 12:32

Hear hear non well said!

I've phoned my GP's back to get a 2nd opinion re early referral. I've got a call back from the practice partner later on today! He's the doc that referred my new fb friend after her hubby got the same diagnosis we have and she said they only had one sa and had not even been ttc a year and a half when referred! Plus she was younger, I'm fretting about my old age lol!

Nonconformist34 · 09/06/2014 11:07

Hi everyone, looks like we're all at similar stages but I am shocked how everyone's journey is varying so much depending on their GP or area they live!

I work in private healthcare (previously NHS) and my advice to you all with many years experience of dealing with the NHS is to constantly fight and stand up to everyone. Chase up results, push for tests that need doing and if you're not happy, make a complaint. Every GP practice has a patient support representative, contact them and make yourself heard. It's amazing how much things can change if they know there is a complaint going against them. Practices are monitored for how many complaints are made against them, and believe me, they don't want to deal with the paperwork. Get your local MP involved if necessary, NHS hates political intervention!
If you're not happy with your GP, it is your patient right to change GPs without being asked. Change GP practice if you need to. At the end of the day, you're not there to make friends, you are there to get the best healthcare for you and your partners which will enable you to hopefully get the baby we all so much deserve along this shitty ttc path. Who cares if you piss the receptionist off because you're ringing everyday to chase it up? I can assure you that they have a lot worse patients to deal with! Be strong ladies. (Right that's my Monday morning rant over, apologies to anyone I've offended!!!)

On a more positive note, I had some good news today. I had a lovely lady ring me up to book our first appointment at the fertility clinic. The next appt is 4th August so about 8 weeks time which is a lot earlier than I thought. I was expecting September/October time so really chuffed. I have to admit that we have been lucky with a great GP.

I agree that we need some more positive news, it's due to come our way on this thread surely?

GingerbreadBabyPlease · 09/06/2014 09:39

Good luck m33r! Only other thing I can think of is pineapple core at 1-5 dpo is it? Will let you know if I think of anymore!

Sorry everyone has been feeling a bit down, I will join you all on that one. I had a lovely month off but it feels as though it's just made the crash back to reality even harder. All the thoughts I had put away for a month are all resurfacing now and it is getting me down. I'm convinced it just won't ever happen for us and am trying to get used to that idea.

I had a referral letter back from gynae and they say it's still another 6 months wait to get an app. The GP told me it was a 4-5 month wait 3 months ago! Do you think it's worth going back to the GP to push it along, or ringing the hospital?
DHs SA is in 3 weeks so maybe I will wait to see what the outcome of that is.

Blue fingers crossed you have started ov'ing again. Here's hoping this is your month.
vic it's so frustrating all these waiting lists isn't it. I really would try and push it if I were you though, knowing what you know it's bloody ridiculous that you still have to wait for further tests/app.

Hi to everyone else, hope we are all trying to carry on with our mindfulness! We really need some good news soon on here, have we really only had one BFP in two threads??!

m33r · 09/06/2014 09:29

Hi all.

Since my lap - which I hear can help ttc by flushing you out - I have booked reflexology sessions to cover all of next cycle. I'm still off alcohol and coffee and both of us are on vits. I have also ordered more opks and preseed and have stocked up grapefruit juice. I have also done some mental mood boards.

We are lucky that there seems to be no medical reason that we haven't done it yet so I am going back to day dot and going for it this month. CD 1 should be next Friday (but may be later owing to lap) and first reflexology is Saturday.

Is there anything else - wives tales included! - that I can do for this 'best chance' month?

Morning ladies, had a few days of not thinking about it (well trying not to anyway!) so stayed away over the weekend - everything sounds crap at the moment!!! Why are we all having such a bad time???? Felt really teary yesterday as went out for the afternoon with a friend who has 3 kids ahead of our joint gp appointment this afternoon. Just want to curl up in a ball today but no chance - and I hate feeling sorry for myself it's not who I am at all - grrrr!!!! Hope everyone (or at least someone) gets some good news soon xx

xBlueberry88x · 09/06/2014 07:58

Morning ladies,

Ive always said it was the depo but every doctor or nurse I mention it to says its not.

I was told it could take up to a year which is why I came off it about 8 months before ttc.

vicky I did put on weight but the doctors refuse its linked.

lil I had 3 months worth of blood tests with day 21 and a couple later in case I ovd late. I couldnt do my temp I wake up often during the night.

lil1ady · 09/06/2014 07:32

Vic has a point blue. are they repeating your blood test at all? I thought they usually repeat it if negative in case it was on wrong day or just a one off annovulatory cycle. I know its not for everyone but tracking my bbt really helped me take some control back.

victoria401 · 09/06/2014 06:44

Blueberry, maybe it was the injection that stopped you ovulating and maybe it could start back on its own? In my WHO GP guidelines it actually said about the depo. That women should be warned that it can take up to 2 years for their bodies to return to normal afterwards. Fingers crossed! I'm guessing you were not told this when you decided on this contraception? I've known a few people who put on loads of weight with it too.

xBlueberry88x · 08/06/2014 21:49

Sorry things arent straight forward vicky nothing is ever easy I just hope that once everything gets going for you it wont be long.

blueeyes as vicky said even completely normal women dont ovulate every month just keep an eye on it hopefully its just a one off.

jesse glad your tests were good. Sorry about mr jesse but im sure his can be dealt with quite easily.

lindsay glad you had a nice time away.

may I wouldnt worry to much every gp seems to be different and maybe this is just the way they do it. We only had one sa done.

holly I hope you get your appointment soon.

Im in the tww had quite a few ovulation symptoms so ive got my hopes up. Lots of dtd just in case so we shall see. I very much doubt my body suddenly decided to ovulate on its own

Hope everyone enjoyed the weather!

Kicking ourselves that we forgot to mention dh's surgery. After we told MIL about our infertility she mentioned this surgery dh had as a child which he couldn't remember anything about! Apparently he had an op to correct his urethra as it was in the wrong place! He remembers having an op but thought it was a circumcision and GP said that wouldnt of harmed anything. well I guess there wouldn't be any Jews if it did cause harm in that dept! But now we know it was something much more drastic and forgot to tell GP on Friday!

I'm well jel of you girls that have been referred on less poking and prodding than we have. GP wouldn't repeat my bloods earlier coz she seemed to have some wierd idea that dh's repeat sa would be miraculously normal and we would still have to wait 2 years. So only when, yes when, the sa comes back bad again coz antispern antibodies don't vanish gp knows f all about them will I get my bloods then a referral. So looking at around Sept/Oct now at earliest. Sigh.

victoria401 · 08/06/2014 21:13

Apparently even the most normal healthy woman doesn't ovulate once a year or something. I can't help you with the clearblue ov thing though I'm afraid. I get really bad ov pains so I have no doubt!

May, I hope dh's sa results are ok. Does sound worrying when they say they need to see you and yes that's what our doc said when my dh's results were bad :-(

Holly, I read up about Sa's and it seems depending on which of the areas were suboptimal whether they repeated the test asap or after 3 months. Didn't really understand the ins and outs.

Jesse, you went to see a private consultant yes? Did you need a GP referral to see them as you would to an nhs clinic or does the private guy refer you to the clinic? Was thinking of seeing a private doc to start the nhs ball rolling, if I can that is...

Lindsay, glad you had a nice time away. Anywhere nice?

Thinking i should get a second opinion at my GP's for an early referral. Have been reading the WHO guidelines for early referrals aimed at GP's.

Indications for early referral

In women
Age > 35 years and trying to conceive for one year
Amenorrhea or oligomenorrhoea
Previous abdominal or pelvic surgery
H/O PID / STD
Abnormal pelvic examination/ investigation

In men
Previous or current genital pathology
Previous urogenital surgery
H/O STD
Significant Varicocele/ systemic illness
Abnormal genital examination/ semen analysis

Can anyone advise???
Spent a few months trying various ovulation tests with no success until I bought the clear blue smiley face one! So for a couple of months it came up I was ovulating exactly when I expected it to apart from this month when a couple of days on and still no smiley face :-( has anyone come across this? Could I maybe only be ovulating some months??

Lindsay81 · 07/06/2014 21:04

Hi girls! Back from a lovely break with DH and been catching up with you all. It's so frustrating that different areas work so differently with the referrals etc. we got referred to the fertility clinic before DH even had a SA appointment, let alone a result. I've already had a letter from them to say they now have all our results and an appointment will follow "shortly" (LOL). This has all been within 3 weeks of GP referral. Why can't all systems be like that?!

Just waiting on AF now. 2 days late but from OPKs I know I ovulated at least 2 days late this month. Sometimes when I O on cd19, I pull off a 31 day cycle. It's weird. But if I O as normal on cd17 then I always get that crappy 7/8 day luteal phase. That's why when I know I'm O-ing late, DH gets the good loving! LOL

OK, hope all is well and you're having a nice weekend!
