Hi vic. I got a letter after about two months telling me I was in the queue. Then got another one five months later telling me my first appt was in three weeks.

Look on the bright side that you're not on af for your appointment blueberry x

xBlueberry88x · 18/06/2014 16:24

hey vicky I think I got my letter after 2 weeks and appointment was about 3 weeks away.

I am so MEGA nervous about tomorrow....AF has shown up yet either arghhhhhh I cried loads last night after a bfn got my hopes up stupidly this month.

victoria401 · 18/06/2014 15:27

3 weeks!? Wow! Guess it depends on post code as usual. We live in a massive city, prob takes ages. Girl I know waited 4 months for our clinic back in 2011 but another girl on the forum only waited 2 months last year. We shall see....

lildottie · 18/06/2014 14:14

Vic my appt can through within about 3 weeks and the appt was only a week or so after that. where have you booked for holiday? sounds like an excellent plan to me!

victoria401 · 18/06/2014 13:06

Hi girls!

Those who have had nhs referrals to see a fertility clinic, how long was your wait? We are envoking the law of sod by booking a holiday abroad for 3 months time! Really looking forward to it though, me and dh in the sunshine for a week chilling by the sea, bit of snorkling and culture. Making the most of couple time in case by some miracle ivf works and I guess having a taste of the rest of our lives if it doesn't.....

lildottie · 18/06/2014 07:34

not sure how my last post ended up in this thread Hmm

thanks silv am doing OK, just trying to keep busy! easier said than done though. hope ur referral doesn't take too long to come through. its the waiting that I hate most. I think I'll start to feel better when I have date for next appt!

silverine · 18/06/2014 00:20

Also lil sorry you had a down day.... hope you're feeling better now Thanks]

silverine · 18/06/2014 00:18

lil that's what the gp said too, that they'll most probably repeat it and test for a whole lot of other things too. Bet it will be aaages till the appointment though.
5dpo wed. Really hopeful for this cycle actually. We've been dtd much more, eod at least and kept it up for longer, combined with the acupuncture etc. Really hoping and praying! Blush

lildottie · 17/06/2014 23:30

oh and I vote to nominate Luna as roll call master!

lildottie · 16/06/2014 22:36

vic that's an awful thing for her to say, but try and think about how she meant it rather than how it sounded. she's probably worried about what ivf means you having to go through. for the same reason she wouldn't want to dream of not having you, she doesn't want to see you hurting.

I don't blame you on the donor thing. not sure where we would stand in that but hoping we don't have to. the alternative (for us at least) is adoption, and I think I'd rather our child was part of at least one of us. hopefully we won't have to think about either, and hopefully neither will you!

also agree on the appointments. I wish I couldve just booked it in when they'd finished hsg so I would know when it was! problem is these dr's are a law unto themselves!

silv sounds like you've had about as much fun with gps as we all have! don't be surprised if clinic want a new sa when you get referred though!

I've had a really down day. feeling fed up and like my life has no purpose without the prospect of having a baby. I know there isn't no prospect but I feel so despondent about it ATM. it doesn't help that I'm constantly having to deal with selfish idiots ATM too. wish they'd all just disappear off the planet!

victoria401 · 16/06/2014 22:25

Hi silv

Dh has already said absolutely no to a sperm donor and I don't blame him. I don't like the idea either. We only want a mix of the 2 of us not a random stranger. Eww the thought of someone else's sperm up there, shudder.

No idea how long it will take to get a referral. I wish they'd send a letter immediately even if it was months away rather than wait ages and get the letter the week before or something! I know things like that do happen as my mum was waiting for an appointment and whilst they were on hol for 2 weeks the letter and the appointment came and went and she missed it! If they gave me a date now I could stick it in my diary and count down to it instead of, yet again, not planning the future.

Spoke to my mum yesterday and she asked about ivf. She said is it really worth going through all that? Do you really want a baby that much? How can my mum possibly understand? She wanted babies, she made them. Me month 1, sister month 3. She can't begin to imagine. I need to ask her if she can imagine her life without her kids and her grandchildren my sister has given to her.

Sorry to go on. Needed to say that!

silverine · 16/06/2014 21:48

Hi all
Thanks everyone for the updates! So it seems like that usual route is blood and sperm tests before referral and clinic appointment, then more tests such as hycosy, laparoscopy or hpt. Well let's hope we all have not too long to go before those appointments and next steps!

stepmama sorry to hear about what happened at the appointment - frighttening! Confused Good luck down the private route! Costly but hopefully much more professional and efficient!
vic sorry about the diagnosis. Really rubbish! Have you got a date for your appt yet? Surely there must be a way - at least there is sperm donor as a last resort...
lil takes for the tip! I'm actually on high-dose folic acid as a can't hurt measure.

We've had a strange couple of days. On Sat received the GP's letter that he has referred us to the fertility clinic, but also for me to repeat some blood tests (by the way, I owe it to this thread that I knew which days the tests should be on, the GP had put no specific date! Shock) and for DH to arrange for a sperm test, even though he's had it done (albeit in 2012). So yesterday I had to break it to him that he needs another one, presuming it was because the other one was too old. He got understandably agitated ("oh but I'm all fine, sod them", etc.) cue me turning the taps on... (don't you want this too", etc...)

So then I tried to reason with him, well it's only a back-up plan, just in case and so on, and then he went back to "oh but it's just taking a little longer and it will happen". So in the end we got back to the default position of "we'll keep trying and hope we don't need it but good to have as back-up". Dtd last night and had him rub my belly for luck on father's day!

Just as we got back to normal, we had the GP appointment to ask about arranging the sperm test and it turned out the gp had forgotten DH had done it and didn't need to repeat it after all! I thought DH would be pleased but he's very grumpy tonight as he didn't have his post-early shift nap because of the wasted appointment... ahh, men hey! so sensitive when it comes to tests... Hope he'll be back to normal tomorrow, but the ttc business really is draining, isnt it?!

Anyway, this cycle has been a bit confusing, with temp indicating 2 peaks so not sure exactly when I ov but had my acupuncture today and the acupuncturist said my temp chart was looking good. Been dtd lots this cycle too - EOD since CD6 and every day this weekend, so dare to hope I'm in with a good chance! FX FX FX and sorry for the essay!

lildottie · 16/06/2014 20:42

oh BTW I nc....its still the same lil here :)

lildottie · 16/06/2014 17:47

you never know stepmama you wouldn't be the first!

stepmama84 · 16/06/2014 08:46

Lil it doesn't sound wrong. I know you're all having to go through the Gp and your situations are upsetting. As soon as I hit the road block with mine I spoke with dh and we decided we would find the money somewhere somehow, taking out a personal loan if need be.
I think he realised it had gotten to the point where we had to do something. It was completely consuming me and I'm sure I wasn't as good at hiding it from him as I think.
Not sure how many rounds we can actually afford but fx for the first round, or better yet a bfp 'au naturelle' before we even start next month! (I should be so lucky)

lil1ady · 15/06/2014 22:36

stepmama this sounds soooo wrong, but I am so jealous that you are starting your ivf next month! I'm fed up of waiting!

stepmama84 · 15/06/2014 20:27

Oh and been ttc since Dec 2012. Had tests done all clear. Tried to have a hycosy but passed out from pain/ nerve being hit. So had to stop. Decided not to have test and save cash, especially as they can't fix blocked tubes and we don't want artificial insemination. We're saying it's unexplained infertility. Starting first cycle of ivf next month Grin

stepmama84 · 15/06/2014 20:22

Welcome Silv, I'm quite new on here. I can only imagine what you have been through how heart wrenching and frustrating that the doctors aren't being helpful or understanding.
I myself don't fit the criteria for my area and have gone private.
I'm an hour away from London.

m33r · 15/06/2014 20:17

I've had my bloods and a laparoscopy and DH has had two sa. All fine on all counts. Ttc #1 21 months

OP posts:
victoria401 · 15/06/2014 20:02

silv I've had my bloods which show I ovulate. Dh has got 2% morphology (suboptimal) and 100% antisperm antibodies. This is caused by a previous infection of injury where the body starts to produce antibodies against the sperm. The abs either attach to the tail so they can't swim or to the head where they can't penetrate the egg. Basically 0% chance of natural conception. A huge blow. We are on the waiting list to see fertility specialist too see if we are suitable for ivf.

I'm also in the south west.

xBlueberry88x · 15/06/2014 18:42

Ive got my first gynae app on Thursday ive had blood tests that said im not ovulating.

Dps sa was fine.

Im in the south.

lil1ady · 15/06/2014 18:38

I'm in the south west so a fair way from London. had all our tests here and just waiting for appt to see consultant.
