Hopefully we'll see more BFPs on this one!

Soooo....I feel like a complete ferret. Been moaning on to DH to arrange his SA and chased him to speak to dr to make appt. He finally was getting ready to go
Dr this morning and I got out the analysis pot before he went and noticed a letter with it...complete with his appt for 2 days ago!!! Arggggghhhh!!! So have now rearranged for 13th August and our first infertility appt is at hosp on 20th so fx we'll have results and can talk about them on that date! I'm very organised in my daily life I can't believe I didn't see this and I feel so awful I missed the appt!! Hospital were fine though, phew!!!

I agree lil I'm going to tell everyone about our struggle! A girl in work is getting married in a fortnight and everyone's saying to her, oh you'll be having babies soon then blah blah. I'm not saying a word! Bets are on for who's next all the time at work. Mostly people say me, so hurtful! 5 other people have got preg, 4 of whom have babies now, since we've been ttc (21 months)

Called the clinic, the phone appointment is to make an actual appointment! The receptionist didn't really understand it either! Also called the docs to ask about my cd3 bloods. A male GP called me back unfortunately. Had to explain about the spotting versus real af and getting my dates wrong. He asked me if I was regular, and I said well between 26 and 32 days with spotting, and he said 'that aside, are you regular? Can you predict when you'll start and know if you're late'?! Wtf?! That's what I was trying to say, I can predict it to a week but confused by spotting issues! Anyway, long story short he said my bloods from the fake cd2 Wednesday were good enough. In my diary today is now cd1, and flipping agony!

ncs I don't see why they shouldn't start testing you now. Its a different relationship to your other children. It may mean you can't get fertility treatment like iui or ivf on nhs but you will get tests for free. Although some clinics have the rule that one partner may have kids from a previous, mine accepts that, but lots don't. You've got pg before in this relationship so chances are you will again and its something that can be sorted. Maybe its just that you're a few years older and its taking longer.

ncsmummy · 25/07/2014 11:04

As we have been ttc for nearly 17 months since the m/c I am thinking about biting the bullet and seeing a doctor. I have got a couple of qs tho, will they do the tests etc even though I already have 2 children? OH doesn't have any. Also I am worried they will blame the vit d deficiency and tell me to come back in a few months?, I don't want to waste their time.

Lauraqc · 24/07/2014 23:41

Evening ladies...

Vic bloody hell. So pleased you took control and found your own results - and WTF is a phone appt?!? Is it like a test to see if you're really dedicated and then they'll deign to let you speak to a real person?! Grrr I feel annoyed for you!!

Lady thank you! This is one of my pet hates! I have friends who've lied to me about how long it's taken! Friends for gods sake - if more people would be honest about it I think it'd would help us all!

Hope everyone else is ok today! I went back to work today and had a good day, af is calming a bit and I'm feeling more positive than I have been in a while. I feel like it's going to happen soon - and DH and I have already agreed we're going to give it all we've got this cycle for a May baby!

lildottie · 24/07/2014 23:28

Vic I'd phone the gp first. then go to the clinic in ur lunch break if its in the same building! do u think they havevur results already? surely thats too fast to have got through post system.

lady hitting that 12 month mark is shit, but it will soon start to feel better when u get into tests and referral. we've been ttc for 21 months now, male factor infertility. we've agreed that when if we get pregnant, be it on our own or the icsi, we will be telling everyone what a long road it has been to get there. I think its important that ppl know what we've been through to educate them in the hope they are more respectful the next time they consider asking someone "when are you going to have kids then." I suspect ur friend wasn't trying for a year, maybe she was off the pill a year, but surely someone trying that long would know how much it would sting someone else to hear that 3month line. or she's just not a very nice friend!

cd20 here and still haven't ovulated. # impatient!

GingerbreadBabyPlease · 24/07/2014 22:50

Arr vic it really is just one thing after another with you! Is someone playing some sort of cruel patience testing game on you!? Does it not just mean you have to ring them to make an app? Give them a call and play hell with them! It's getting bloody ridiculous.
Blue glad your hycosy went as well as expected, and glad they seemed happy for you to keep dtd. Get shagging and crossing those fingers! Hopefully you can go and join m33r.
Metal have you tested yet so far this month? I am similar to you I think, some months I don't bother testing, but this month I feel happier about seeing bfns than getting full on AF, helps me prepare for it a bit more. I POAS this morning, I knew it was pointless as only 9dpo but it has set me up a bit more for expecting AF next week. and also made me feel totally shit. I'm convinced this is never actually going to happen for me. Got another appointment with the Dr tomorrow to see if I can speed up my gynae referral, not due to get an app until Nov Confused Also to discuss DHs SA results with her, the nurse on the phone told him they were fine, but this is the same nurse who told me my blood results were fine, when they were actually suggesting I wasn't ovulating.
Hello to the newbies, but sorry to see you here. Lady I think a test could maybe show a BFP the day before AF is due, depending on which one you used. nordicmum what an awful journey for you, but a happy ending, and hopefully an even happier one soon.

victoria401 · 24/07/2014 16:52

Weirdest thing... I've got a letter from my GP's saying that I need to phone up and make a TELEPHONE APPOINTMENT with the fertility clinic! What's that all about?! I assumed me and dh would get an appointment and go and speak to someone at the actual building! I work at the hospital for goodness sake! Why on earth would I want to have a phone appointment? Its very hard to take private calls during the day as I work in a lab and there are rarely empty offices. I usually have to call the GP from the fire exit stairwell or hide down in the store room in the basement. Not the atmosphere for my first fertility assessment! Grrrrrr

Metalhead · 24/07/2014 16:23

Welcome ncs, nordic and lady! I remember your name from the one monthly bus I was one nordic but I gave up on them pretty quickly as I couldn't handle all the BFPs. Even on the ttc after mc thread I'm on there have been quite a few ladies recently who literally seem to have come on just to hop off again with a BFP, and I'm afraid to say it makes me feel like shit.

As for testing early, I promise myself not to do it every month, and every month I cave and do it anyway. I think for me, I just want to know as early as possible so I can get over the disappointment, and usually by 13dpo a BFN is pretty reliable for me. (5 days to go this month...)

Glad your results were ok vic.

Ladyboluna · 24/07/2014 16:03

Lildottie you're right I really shouldn't. I've just been TTC for too long now (12 months in a few days) and keep hovering between desperation and giving up. One of the worst thing to happen was a friend (who knew I was TTC) told me she was pregnant after only trying for 3 months after stopping her pill. But then she told her closer friend that actually it took her well over a year since stopping the pill. It just makes me upset that people I know seem to see problems conceiving as something to cover up/lie/boast about so just want a BFP like everyone else!

Phew. Vent over. Carry on ladies.

Nordicmom · 24/07/2014 15:47

Thanks Victoria and lildottie . I think this might take us a while if it ever works out so can't just keep on changing busses and watch others jump off with their quick BFPs without heartache so I think I need to be here too !

victoria401 · 24/07/2014 15:26

I agree, testing early is bad and you're more likely to pick up chemicals and false negs. Its less heartache getting af then getting a bfn, in my opinion anyway.

Welcome Nordic I remember your name off the buses. Sounds like you've been through an awful lot over the years to get your family. I can't help with any advice on conception as I've not been pregnant, plus we have male factor. I now consider myself to be a mini expert in immune response male factor infertility and referral requirements for the greater Bristol area now, if you have any questions!? Lol

lildottie · 24/07/2014 15:19

ahh hadn't finished!

Vic - so cool that you can check your own results! can you tell from work system if they've been sent to gp yet?

lildottie · 24/07/2014 15:18

hi ncs, nord and lady. sorry you are all having to join us but hopefully you will find the support helpful.

lady I gave up testing early forever ago. it messes with my head too much. but a frer or an ic (internet cheapie) may pick up a bfp that early. but don't do it to yourself!Smile

Ladyboluna · 24/07/2014 15:12

AF is due on Saturday and I'm trying to resist buying a test today...

Would any show up as BFP or is today too early?

Nordicmom · 24/07/2014 12:43

Hi! Can I join ? Not sure if I already wrote in here a few months ago .Long story short have now been trying for #3 for 9 cycles but over all have had lots of fertility problems and tried for years for #2 while having 10 miscarriages and chemicals and ended up having dd through gestational surrogacy in the US . Had ds (#1 dc) with no problems . Now trying naturally again with no success so far . Have had at least 2 suspected chemicals and last month had 2 faint positives then bleeding. Am on 7 dpo now and just had some spotting this morning which I never have in normal cycles when not trying or with any of my failed pregnancies or with ds so it makes me wonder. Also boobs hurting on and off but not hugely yet and nauseous ( but have an illness that causes that sometimes anyway ). Lower back pain and mild to moderate cramping from yesterday too . Blood was a bit brown part red . Haven't had any more since then . This is really messing up my mind now and am on a holiday until mon . Have a few tests which I'll use on sun and mon I guess . Anything working out naturally for me anymore feels like a very long shot but I feel like I need to do this first before Ivf or surrogacy again .

victoria401 · 24/07/2014 10:19

Right, checked my own results at work (tut tut) and my hormones are between the normal reference ranges for follicular phase so I guess it was ok. No idea how long the docs take to get the results from when they appear on my screen same day! I will phone docs tomorrow as the post should have been by then.

Welcome to the group ncsmummy :-)

ncsmummy · 24/07/2014 10:06

Hi all. Thought I would post on here. I am 33, currently ttc #3 although will be my ohs first. We had a mc last march and have been ttc since with no success. I was diagnosed with vit d deficiency in may so am hoping that now my levels are on the up it might help. Its so hard at the moment, been about 10 preg announcements in the last few weeks and I know some of the couples have only been ttc for 3 months max and it feels soo unfair! Feeling quite sorry for myself atm!

maybug3 · 24/07/2014 09:40

I agree with Lil vic. They have a result and the worst that will happen is that it has an odd result. The specialists will be able to piece it all together and repeat anything they are worried about.

lildottie · 24/07/2014 07:53

ooh not nice! I hate horrid dreams. especially horrid baby dreams.

I think you are right Vic they wanted a test, they got one. if its the wrong day its going to be a weird result, supporting your referral. you can discuss that with the fertility clinic when u get there and if they want it repeated they will do it far more efficiently. if its the right day its all good. fwiw I think if u had a tampons worth you can count it as cd1. the drop in progesterone causes AF so it must have dropped enough to cause Tuesdays bleed. again wait and speak to clinic about why it could be happening like this....your drs don't exactly sound like they have any idea!

victoria401 · 24/07/2014 07:46

Argh! Had an awful dream last night! I dreamt I was having the embryo transplant bit of ivf and the doc was putting up this red grabby bug type thing with forceps! And then he just left leaving me to route through the cupboard in the theatre for things I thought I might need. Then dh thought I was going back to work instead of going home to rest and drove away leaving me to trudge into work in scrubs and phone him to beg to come and get me again!

Can feel af starting proper now, got cramps. Who thinks I should call doc 1 for a 2nd opinion on whether I got the right day?!

lildottie · 23/07/2014 23:16

haha they are seriously shit! I like your plan better! fuck it!

victoria401 · 23/07/2014 22:58

Oh and about the results.... I was advised to keep chasing them up. So I have to waste my time trying to get through to the docs in my teabreaks!

victoria401 · 23/07/2014 22:55

lil no I've not got full flow. There was a bit of red yesterday, hardly anything overnight. Bit of brown today. Not even wearing any sanitary wear tonight. You know what, I don't care what day it is or what the results are. I'm going to a fertility clinic. All they needed was a blood test within 3 months stapled to our form. That's what they've got. So there.

lildottie · 23/07/2014 22:39

hi all. sorry your suffering lau

blue that's excellent. get shagging! hope the pains stopped for you.

Vic first day of "full flow" is considered cd1 so I'd guess you'd be OK. try not to stress about it. when are you due to get results, and have u arranged for Dr 1 to call you personally when the results arrive? least they can do after all the cock ups! I think if I were in your shoes I'd speak to Dr 1 and explain about AF and ask if he can do repeat test on what could otherwise be CD2/3/4 to be on safe side. might be worth asking in case he can buck the system and get you in. again its the least they can do. oh and my favourite line for these sort of phone calls "that's not good enough, what do you propose to do about it?" Grin can I just phone for you, I like a good barney on the phone!

Lauraqc · 23/07/2014 21:55

Yay Blue great re your hsg and get cracking hey?!

Have had day off work today as so much pain and heavy flow :( still weirdly pleased it came at all though just hoping its not a long af and my cycle kick starts to some kind of regularity....

Victoria how annoying our bods are fighting against us grrrr!

Fx Metal and hope you feel better!
