wannaBe1974 · 06/09/2006 13:15

hahahah coggy I'm positively cracking under the weight of it, lol. mmmm lobster! and aren't oysters supposed to be an afrodisiac?

ShowOfHands · 06/09/2006 13:13

Oysters and champagne daaarhling? What a wonderful appertiser, goes well with the lobster that chef is currently catching for my lunch.

coggy · 06/09/2006 13:13

D'you know......I think that actually sounds a damn sight better than these crummy bickies that we normally have wannaBe!!!

Desperate.....most of us lurk to see what everyones up to....I think it's the 'moving over' to the next thread bit that soooooooooooooooooo depressing!!!!!

Oh yes.....and wannaBe....did I just read that you may be testing tomorrow???!!!
Have you bowed down under all our (non) pressure??!!
LOL!!!

wannaBe1974 · 06/09/2006 13:10

SOH glad to hear that you're feeling better

I'm almost inclined to hit that "report post" icon next to chloeBee's post, predominantly because she claims to be speaking on behalf of a lot of other people when that does not appear to be the case. One person cannot claim to be speaking on behalf of others when that is not the view they have expressed.

And "I've changed my i.d because I am very happy on the threads I post on and don't want this negativity to follow me over there", too right, in other words, you don't want peple to know who you are and associate you with accusatory postings.

sorry, I'll shut up now but it makes me very mad that people can be so self bloody rightious, oh and as for the exclusive club ... now, if it's exclusive, then where the hell is the complementary champagne and the oysters, lol.

desperate2bmum · 06/09/2006 13:08

hiya girls.

just wanted to say that i think its great you have your own thread and completely understand why you have done it.
i post on the positive threads but only discovered mumsnet in june after my m/c even though been ttc since january.
just want to say though i only post here and there but those of you i have spoken to on the positive threads you have given me nothing but support and friendliness. and i hope you all get your bfps soon. i am over the moon for the 4 people who now have there bfps on sept thread but cant help feeling a little upset and i sooo want it to be me.
dont be strangers....
xxx

coggy · 06/09/2006 13:07

If I could be bothered getting off this sofa...then I'd chase you y'know!!!!!

ShowOfHands · 06/09/2006 13:04
ShowOfHands · 06/09/2006 13:04

Ha ha thwarted in your three in a row attempt!

And the idea of being in an exclusive thread? Sorry but me, exclusive club? Nah, doesn't work I'm afraid! They won't even let me have a Boden catalogue.

coggy · 06/09/2006 13:02

Well I am now SOH....you just ruined my three posts in a row!!!!

coggy · 06/09/2006 13:01

I also wanted to say...(could be three posts in a row from me!!).....that people do pop on here too for advice or to catch up with us and I have really appreciated Babymad for taking time to commiserate (sp?) with me that my AF had come.

I don't actually think we are exclusive.

Right - that's it....I have now finished!!!!!

ShowOfHands · 06/09/2006 13:01

Coggy: "If there is anything that we can help people with I think we jolly well do......so there!!!!! "

I have visions of you with hands on hips and poking your tongue out.

coggy · 06/09/2006 12:58

Chloebee.....I agree totally with wannaBe and I'm glad she mentioned about your name change.
We are not scary people there's no need to hid from us!!!

So.....not scary....just a bit sad.....it's taken most of us many, MANY months ttc and getting nowhere. It is lovely when people get their BFPs but it also makes us sad as it reinforces all of the many months we have had disappointment.

If I had come on MN when I first started ttc I would now be on my 71th 'Positive Month' thread.
I started ttc in 1999.
Do you really think it's a bad thing that we have made such good friendships on here?

Also.....and I know I speak for Natty and Trace as well as several others.....we do pop into the Aug/Sept as you no doubt will have seen if you are a regular on there - we have all recently posted on there.
If there is anything that we can help people with I think we jolly well do......so there!!!!!

Got a bit carried away with the last sentence I feel!!!!!

coggy · 06/09/2006 12:50

SOH - that's really good news.
I'm so pleased that he took the time to listen to you sensitively - so many don't have the time now do they?

Angsthase - juicy lucy eh? Sounds like a new name for you to me......can't ever spell your other one anyway...I always have to copy and paste you!!!!

Thanks Pinky....unfortunately it's everyone else on here that's going on holiday....not me!!!!!
I'm back at work but it's only part time and I love it.

ShowOfHands · 06/09/2006 12:41

Oh dear. Just read the negative comment and feel a wee bit about it. Sad because this thread wasn't started to exclude anybody but instead to support some people who so desperately need it. The rigmarole of changing from thread to thread eventually becomes demoralising. Instead of being able to get your hopes up and start anew you develop a sense of prolonged agony and I think everybody on this thread is here because of the stability and mutual understanding of ttc as a long-term endeavour not an independent four week experiment. I for one still drop in on the postive september thread because I care about the people on it and their hopes of conceiving. I would be mortified to believe that I had offended anybody by trying to offer support to a group of women who understand only too well the hardships of trying to get and stay pg.

Anyway, onto more positive things. I phoned the gp and he said to come straight down to the surgery. He sat and talked to me for half an hour, asked lots of questions, talked about my fears and hopes and didn't belittle my concerns. The community midwife will be in touch next week to arrange a meeting and a 7 week scan! I feel much more positive now!

Thanks for nudging me to get it sorted!

Uki · 06/09/2006 12:23

Hi Girls
I think you should not even think about that other critical post down there. (very good reply wannabe)

You Girls all sound so wonderful and caring and I totally understand what you all must mean to each other.

I don't really want to post on here as u all know each other so well (which is great), but being through three m/c it does help me to have the occasional read. So you are doing alot of good for us lurkers as well.
Wishing Good luck and baby dust to you all

pinkranger · 06/09/2006 11:52

Cant belive someone has critisised (sp) this thread!! I Have been TTc since march and had a M/c and all of your were supportve the whole way through, its nice to have cyber friends! xx

sorry about your af coggyxx are you off on your hols soon , anywhere nice? xx

SOL - Def go to Gp and say how concerend you are a push for epu appointment , if not ring your epu and try to refer yourself after 6-7 weeks , thats def what i will be doing next time round as i know how much of a worry wart i will be !! xxxx

Babymad4num3 · 06/09/2006 11:34

I think it's absolutely perfect that they have their own tread and it's not like they don't talk or help other's, on other TTC treads because they do, and that is out of chose, they are caring people.
I am very grateful for all the advice and support they have given me, So very grateful!

I totally agree it is disheartening when people come and go within weeks! I've only been posting a few weeks but been reading and watching some TTC conversations for some time! I've been TTC for almost 15 ( 14/15 months) cycles without even a glimmer of hope, but now that these wonderful ladies have given me so much hope/support/advice, maybe when AF comes along this time I wont feel like crying into my pillow!
These ladies give and give, and never take from others, so don't take from them what they so deserve and "are they really hurting anyone!????
They have found the perfect support network for what they are going though isn't that what Mumsnet is all about!!???

(SOZ if any spelling are wrong in a rush)

DreamingIguess · 06/09/2006 11:31

i'm confused.. aren't people allowed to set up their own threads? honestly! unless people have been commenting on this via msn or something there's no sign of anyone else having a problem with it on any other thread which i've seen.

i don't see the need to barge in and target a group of women who felt the need to continue to offer each other a shoulder to cry on and more than the occasional laugh too.. when those women have been patient as hell for months on end.

whilst i'm chuffed to bits to see people get a bfp, it's hard to go a month or two and not get one yourself. if their way of dealing with it is to chat on a thread about their issues and continue friendships built up over many months, SO WHAT?? put yourself in their shoes and think about how it must hurt when someone joins and within a few weeks or a month or so gets a bfp.

i'd just like to say that i don't think there is any issue at all! But hopefully everyone on the thread knows that already as does 99.9% of people on MN.

Angsthase · 06/09/2006 11:22

Hi all,

I definately need to get internet reinstalled at home so I can keep up

Firstly, just want to say that I agree with Wannabe. V.happy for all the lucky ladies who get BFP's quickly, but it's nice for the long-termers to have a thread with folks they have been chatting, waiting, hoping and agonizing with for ages (and ages). No offence intended to any other posters on any threads.

SOH - really really happy for you. Hope it's a sticky one. The EPU told me to request an early scan from my doc because of the m/c. You should be able to get this (once you get past the receptionist!)

Coggy - glad your LP was nice and long even if this month brought an AF, but sounds positive for next month.

Trace you sound v calm about your AF. I guess doing the temps takes some of the ups and downs of guesswork out of it - do you feel that? But good luck for next mth.

Wannabe - have you tested yet. Really hope you get your "you know what"
Re giving up and going back on the pill. Obviously it's your decision, but not sure that going on the pill is the best for you (I just think it's not healthy to take hormones if you don't need them). Is there really no other way to mentally give up? Agree with suggestions re uping zinc in DH's diet. Maybe you could try just that "natural" assistance for a while, but totally your choice.

As for me, sorry if TMI, but I'm officially juicy lucy this month with all the EWCM aides I've used. CD16, so starting 2WW, but not expecting it to work first time of trying all this stuff. Got an appt with Fertility Clinic in Oct after AF arrives. Coggy, Andi and I will then be able to compare notes LOL!

wannaBe1974 · 06/09/2006 10:56

Chloebee I have read the other thread and have not seen any reference to the apparent perceptions you refer to, so I can only assume that this is your own opinion, which you are entitled to of course, but if you feel so strongly about it then at least have the decency to put your name to it rather than feeling that you have to hide behind a name change.

With regard to why we started a different thread, in January a thread was started for support for those who wanted a positive in January, on that thread was myself, peachygirl, Trace2 and Pussycatmomma. Obviously there were several other people on the thread as well, and as time went on some got their bfp?s and moved on. And so as the months continued we did similar threads for every month, and every month some people joined, some got instant bfp?s and left, and some continued on to the next months. When you?ve been ttc and have been talking to the same people for 9 months, you form strong friendships with those people because you can identify with what they are going through. It is very demoralising when month after months you get a bfn or your af arrives and you have to say ?off to the next thread?, so the thread was created so that those of us who have been trying for much longer than the majority, can stay together, without feeling they have to move on and chat to a new group of people while their friends stay behind in the hope of their own bfp?s/af. That doesn?t mean we wouldn?t chat to other people, it simply means that we want to stay with our friends, the same as others on the positive September threads have formed friendships which we are not a part of. When you?ve been trying for as long as most on this thread, it becomes hard to read ?I?m going to test next week/I?ve got sore boobs must be pregnant/I?ve read the fertility book and I had sex on the right day?, from people who have only been trying for a month or two, and who, quite frankly, have absolutely no idea what it?s like to have been trying for 1, 2, 3 years without any hint of success.

There was no intention to exclude anyone, but a lot of people on this thread have felt that they were excluded from the other threads because there were so many newbies who have joined at the same time and who have identified with one another and therefore a lot of us who have been on there for a while have felt somewhat pushed out of that thread also.

I make no apology for the fact that we are friends and have been through a lot together. Every bfp is wonderful, but I will be absolutely extatic if trace2 or coggy, for instance, get their bfp, in fact want that more for them than I want it for myself, but if someone comes on the thread and tests a week later and hey hoe it?s a bfp, I simply do not feel as strongly about that because they?ve been lucky in falling first month.

Think I?ll shut up now.

chloebee · 06/09/2006 10:30

Can I ask why you felt the need to start a new thread so obviously excluding the women on the Sept/Aug thread ?
I have changed my i.d as I am very happy on the threads i post on and do not want any of this negativity to follow me over there- I just wanted to make you aware that quite a few people have preceived your 'exclusive' club as being quite rude- fair enough you've been ttc for a while but old girl/ new girl attitudes are not condusive to previous helpful nature of this forum.

trace2 · 06/09/2006 09:57

yes tell gp what happened, but they wont scan you till about 7 weeks though, but just being under gp now will help

OP posts:
ShowOfHands · 06/09/2006 09:53

Do you think so trace? When I got pg in July the receptionist wouldn't let me see a doctor. Said it wasn't necessary and if I made it to 8 weeks the midwife would get in touch with me. Can I insist that they give me an appointment with the gp? I am so bloody terrified of losing this one too. Plus, I'm only 4 weeks would a scan show anything at this point or would they be more likely to book me in for a 6 week scan if I really pushed it?

trace2 · 06/09/2006 09:43

coggy did you drink last night?? that may be why your temp went up if you did

OP posts:
trace2 · 06/09/2006 09:41

soh, again so pleased for you and yes a very good sign but please go to your gp and tell him how scared you feel! you may get an early scan
